I've been a member here a while now. I like this gym because of the variety of equipment. It has things like squat racks, belt squat, and some hammer strength equipment that is hard to come by in commerical gyms. They also have a good number of cable machines. That's about where the good ends. It has taken a dive since the ownership change, but even before that it wasn't great. The place is filthy and dilapidated. The bathrooms are rarely clean or functional. One urinal is always out of commission and the other leaks. Toilets are never cleaned (there's been an orange Cheeto sitting next to the toilet for going on 12 months now). The equipment is generally okay, but some of it is in rough shape. Handles are missing or bars to the leg extension are extremely bent. A good portion of the cardio equipment is out of order. There's always a machine broken. They refused to fix a clip on the belt squat machine (and are still using a sub optimal clip today). Recently they've had several pieces of equipment out of commission for a while. On top of that, there's other safety issues that should be addressed; 1. The plate loaded preacher curl needs to be tightened. It's very loose and could cause injury 2. Most of the machines are not tacked to the floor. Meaning they'll move around on you if you start moving some heavier weights 3. Both leg extensions need to be fixed. The oldest one is so loose that it wobbles during the movement, causing horrible knee torque. The other is so bent that it also will cause knee torque. 4. Some of the cables and carabineers need to be fixed. The cables are fraying and the carabineers don't clip down, which is a huge injury risk. 5. The lack of paper towels in the bathrooms and floor means that people aren't washing their hands (have seen it every day I go, six days a week, for as long as I have gone) or wiping down equipment. This is a recipe for ring worm, and trust me, it will happen. 6. They need to update or get additional equipment. There's not enough to go around. Instead of catering to this boxing thing, investing in the fitness aspect would probably be advisable, since your main clientele and business is the fitness component. The conversion of the turf area into a boxing ring seems like a big miss. A lot of work and equipment went into a space that isn't utilized. It would have been better spent upgrading or fixing the current equipment (or making sure there paper towels to wipe machines down). Overall, this gym has become a miss for me. I only continue because of the people and lack of options, but it isn't ever a first choice for me anymore. Disappointing. read more

Cold in the winter, Hot in the summer. Dirty, over half of the cardio is broken. The men's room is filthy, smelly and dungy. The gym blares loud, loud head banging music even early in the morning. I quit this gym in January and got a written receipt. I decided to cancel my credit card just in case. Thank god I did because the owner hasn't yet notified the billing company. I keep getting harassing calls to update my credit card. I try calling and can't get through the call screening program. read more

They don't keep the gym clean. Most of the rubber handles on the machines are torn or missing . 40% of the cardio equipment is non functional. Too bad because they do have some good equipment and 4 power racks. Seems like they just don't care. read more

I joined planet fitness. Cheaper, immaculate, respectful members. Very well managed. Stay away from Pro Fitness unless u want a horrible gym experience. read more

If you are looking for a clean gym with well-maintained equipment, keep looking. This place is filthy from the caked dust and dirt on the ceiling fans and air conditioning filters, to the mirrors that are seemingly never cleaned with some sort of ooze on them, to the floor and machines that are rarely thoroughly cleaned. The paper towel machines are often empty. Of 10 elliptical Life Fitness machines, just 2 barely work and it has been this way for a very very long time (management has been well aware of their condition for quite some time with apparently no intention of repairing or replacing them). I would suggest you take a tour before you sign up. Then again if none of this matters... read more

Apparently they have never heard of this thing called "Windex". Place is a dump. Lots of potential, but they refuse to clean that place. Lockerrooms are gross, mirrors have t been wondered in years, dust in just about every corner and on every cardio machine. Pay more and go elsewhere. Or pay less and go to PF (at least it's clean). read more

Excellent gym! They have everything you need in terms of equipment, plus a turf area for pushing the sled, lunges, or whatever else. They also just opened up a really great smoothie bar. read more

This is a horrible place to work out. They have no staff cleaning the gym at all. The dust on the machines and floor have been caked up for months. I actually had to wear a covid mask in order to work out. When I complained, Gina, the receptionist told me she was the only one working and could not clean the gym. In the month I was there, I never saw a staff member do any cleaning or dusting at any point and to any degree. They were non- responsive to my complaint, which bothered me the most. I had to stop going as I could not enjoy my workouts and had to shower at home at night to get the soot off my body so I could sleep. I don't expect any gym to pass the white glove test, but it is marketed as a health club and is anything but. Do not gym this poor excuse of a health club or gym. Steve De Luca. read more

When the pandemic hit I kept my membership going for at least six months to support local business. When I decided I wanted to end my membership I was told I could either send a written request or come down to the gym in person, so I chose to come in person. After canceling I was then charged the following month, and when I inquired into why had this happened, I was told that was their policy. Once this pandemic is over, and things are a bit more back to normal I will not be returning. I plan to signup at a gym that doesn't charge an additional month to customers who have terminated their month to month agreement in writing. read more

dirty gym, bathrooms are gross. the owner is ignorant and disrespectful my fiancé and I have been members on and for for a col years ...never met the owner until today. he is very ignorant and he will not give us our membership money back ...I told him after screaming in my face I wanted my money back I paid on Friday I did not want to go there anymore. he laughed told me to "get the fck out" and said " you will never get your money". I called police and they said contact Better business bureau ! so we did and we are contacting a lawyer. would not recommend this gym to anyone. place is filthy ,bathrooms filthy, air quality very poor very musty and moody. read more

Just joined this gym about a month ago and love it so far. It helps that it's a 2 min drive from my house so it's easy to get there. I tend to go in the morning before work around 6/7 am. It's not too busy at that time. I can always find a treadmill which is what I typically use everyday. I love the spin class on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6 to 7 am. Each class is taught by a different teacher. They turn the lights off while you spin and they are super motivational and fun. All of the staff is really friendly and no one bothers me when I go in. I can do my own workout and head out within 30 mins to an hour. It's a little busier after work around 5 pm but you can usually still complete your work out just fine. I am looking forward to trying some other classes as well. read more

I agree completely with the first review. I have been going to this gym for almost 4 years and have always enjoyed it. Yes, it is under new ownership, but these new owners have taken a good, simple, clean gym and turned it into a more upscale and up to date fitness center. One thing I always loved about this gym (back when it was World's and now as Pro Fitness) is the level of cleanliness. The equipment, floors, and locker rooms are always spotless. The staff works tirelessly to keep it that way. Another thing I have always enjoyed is the lack of a "scene". You won't find a Gold's Gym style pickup place with girls decked out in full makeup and meatheads trying to ask them out. Everyone there is just there to work out. As the first review mentioned, there's plenty of friendly people there if you want to socialize. However, I tend to keep to myself and have never had an issue doing that. As for the improvements with the new owners, there have been many. Spin classes are offered everyday with AWESOME instructors. They also offer classes like boot camp and ZUMBA. They've added quite a bit of cardio equipment and updated all of the TVs to new flat screens. Overall, the owners are wonderful and will do anything they can to be accommodating. In fact - I am getting ready to go have a killer treadmill run there right now. read more

I am suddenly going here because my gym 'merged' with it and it's ok but every time I see how filthy the air filters in the a/c are , I can't help but wonder how clean it really is here. Could use some good mats for ab exercises too. Will see how it goes. read more

I've been going to this gym for about a year now. I joined around the time it was fairly new, and I figured heck why not because of convenience. To be honest in the beginning I really loved this gym, it was always clean, staff would wipe down machines, weights were re-racked in proper areas, all of the machines were in great condition, and the staff as well as patrons were friendly. Now times have changed, the gym is usually dirty, machines don't get cleaned, trash is overflowing, paper towels aren't restocked for sanitation. Weights are everywhere, reracked on maybe one machine all out of order. The machines actually have bolts that are loose! Also the treadmills don't seem to have great upkeep. The showers are dirty, for the few they have. This gym was AWESOME in the beginning, but now it's pretty rundown. I'm lookin to switch to a new gym currently. Try this place out if you must but I promise you this will be the next gym to close it's doors. -UPDATE MAY 2018- I finally got out of this gym and joined a different one. Great gym, especially if you lift weights. It has everything you need there. I have been a member for a few years so I'm aware of the hours to lift when the gym tends to not be crowded. There are several squat racks, a deadlift platform, plenty of barbells, iron and bumper plates and lots of dumbbells. There are numerous machines, treadmills, a TRX station, etc. read more

This place offers a free week pass on their website (http://profitnessri.com/7DayPass.pdf ) which gave me enough time get a real feel for the gym before signing up. The gym itself is neither large nor small, and in fact feels just right for a newbie like me. I primarily use the cardio machines, elliptical/ treadmill/ stair master/ stationary bike and have never had to wait for a machine. The treadmills are in front of some of the other machines so some folks might feel uncomfortable having people right behind them as they run in place. I have also dipped my toe into the nautilus machine area, which is a little nerve wracking. That's all due to my own hang ups though, no one has been creepy or made me feel wired for being over there. All of the machines have been in good working order and patrons seem to be diligent about wiping them down after each use. The woman's locker room is always clean and has enough room for multiple people to be getting changed at the same time. My only complaint, and it's SUPER minor, is that the majority of the magazines are targeted to men and a little dated. Like I said, super minor but I would also love to be able to read something that is not GQ while i'm cooling off on an exercise bike. I got a great deal on groupon to this place, but I'll definitely be buying a membership when it's up. It's a lot like the Golds gym it was prior! The equipment is good. Looks of cardio equipment. All the lifting basics, TRX. Not overcrowded. A healthy mix of personalities. The group ex & spin classes are included which is fantastic. It's not a huge gym but it's neat and clean. Nothing stellar but it's what you bring to the gym that counts. The people are friendly and the monthly fee is around $20. read more

I tried to cancel my membership so many times, yet the fees kept coming because the staff claimed the manager was never there every time I tried to go in there to cancel, they wouldn't be able to bc if this manager has to be present policy. I had to change my card number bc of this nonsense. I've asked about 50 times to cancel and they've continued amassing a month to month debt to the point where they have been the ONLY thing negatively affecting my credit for the last 3 years claiming that they're a "loan" and "loaned" me almost $1200 I owe them. This gym doesn't let you cancel, then continues to amass fees through the pandemic and bring it to collections? I've disputed this time and time again. I liked this gym a lot, but I had a child who needed surgery at the time and I had to stay home while our family was fighting for my sons life and the trauma with that ordeal, so obviously I couldn't go to a gym that wasn't near my home anymore. I've been building my credit and doing everything right, but this gym single handedly has made it near impossible to move my credit up at anything but a glacial pace because of this thievery. I was planning to rejoin this gym when things were normalized and I had the time to, because I found it to be convenient, however it's become evident that I will never think twice nor recommend anyone i know to go here. Three years on my credit when I had attempted to cancel dozens of times? It's a damn gym. Any business that does that kind of thing is immoral and it's disgusting. read more

I love this gym! It's always clean and the staff is so friendly :) My favorite gym in Rhode Island.

Plenty of space to park. The gym is spacious with every available piece of equipment needed. All of it relatively clean except the exercise room which I KNOW they do not clean on a regular basis. The fitness director is A plus for her chosen instructors.The classes never lack variety and are motivating. The music isn't jacked up too loud and the air is well circulated. The rif raf & meatheads are certainly present but tolerable.The staff and trainers are cool and laid back. read more

I've been on the fence about this gym for the past month or so as it is and yesterday was the icing on the cake for me. I go here, I don't talk to anyone, I wipe down my machines and I re-rack my weights and I go home so when I was approached by a trainer yesterday very rudely because I dropped weights on "his sled", I was quite taken aback. His confrontation with me was very unprofessional and uncalled for. "Can you stop dropping weights on MY sled, it's my sled, my $500, not the gyms and you're the only person who does it." First of all, this is a gym. If the sled is that delicate, maybe it shouldn't be out for general use. I've used sleds at very many other gyms and they take a beating. Second of all, had he just approached me and said "hey listen, would you mind not dropping weights on the sled?" Boom, done, no problem. His approach was awful. I told management on the way out and all he did was confirm that the sled was his, completely missing my point that his approach was wrong. So I gave it a day thinking maybe I'll get an apology for the way it was handled. Nothing. Not even from management or the trainer. I want to speak to the head manager or the owner and I want out of this gym and my contract. read more

I have been going to this gym for 3 years and find it going down hill. There are at least 3 tread mills down daily, the Stereo system is horrible. Spin Class last night we all walked out NOT because of the instructor (They are GREAT) there was no music because the speakers that they were supposed to be getting replaced since Christmas have not been replaced. I wonder what would happen if we all stopped paying our monthly fee until we can use the gym like what we pay for. We pay a $25.00 fee yearly for the upkeep ????? and a monthly fee of $29.99 where does this money go to. Not into Pro Fitness Very Disappointed !!!! read more

I had a membership at Pro Fitness and canceled in March (husband in the military). The woman who canceled by membership stated that I would NOT be charged this $25 fee in April. I was though, just called and the manager did NOTHING. As a military familiy, I'm posting this wherever I can. You should stand by what your employees are telling customers. read more

I must agree with Lori C. I have going to the gym for nearly six (6) years and have had a great experience until the last six months. Slowly the gym has been going down hill; with downed machines, classes being cancelled and the worst sound system in the spin classes. The instructors are phenomenal but the equipment sucks. Most of the spin bikes have split seats, several can't be ridden!!!!! The sound system sounds like a pig being choked!! Just so you know Golds Gym offers the same price with great working equipment and offers a discount for Seniors and Veterans. Where is your loyalty???? Where is the free Spin Classes until the bikes and sound system is up to the level we pay? I, too, walked out of the class on Wednesday.
