I was going to eat there, but all tables were full.... so did takeout instead. After getting back home, I dug in. The good: service was quick and friendly. Ambiance is kinda good, bright and airy. It's what you'd expect from a strip mall Asian food place. Plenty of parking. The bad: the food. Not bad really, just not 'good.' I judge every Thai place by their Pad See Ew. That's what I ordered here. It had all the basics of the dish. But it was the most bland Pad See Ew I think I've ever had. And I've been eating that dish for 30 years. The place was half full when I was there so it's not like the kitchen was overwhelmed. So it really comes down to the recipe. It lacked the rich sauce flavors I've experienced at many other places. It's almost like the only sauce they used was soy and fish sauce. I've had other Pad See Ew dishes that are more complex and the best ones have a slightly sweet finish, with some so good you can't stop eating even when you're full. This wasn't that. They have a nice lunch special that I get. Green curry with steamed tofu and rice. Love the curry and they put large pieces of grilled eggplant which I liked. Very friendly staff and food came out quick. Everything was plated nicely. The Vietnamese iced coffee was OMG amazing. Lots of seating even though the restaurant is on the smaller side. Had lunch at the cozy Planet Thai today. I've been here in the past and remembered it was good. I was right, delicious! I had the stir fried eggplant which was perfectly cooked. The eggplant was creamy and succulent and it was complimented by the bell peppers and delicious sauce. We also got Larb and salad rolls which were also delicious. I came here with my friend for lunch at her suggestion. Never have been before. I'm sure I will be back. The lunch special penning. Curry was delicious. A generous amount for a good price. Asparagus and green beans fresh and tasty. Love the curry we got it slightly hot. I got the cup of wonton soup. Loaded with several tender wontons and two large shrimp. Look - if you can create take out food that survives a half hour drive and still tastes AMAZING, 5 stars is all yours. Seriously, we got the yellow curry and crunchy honey chicken, and our first impression was incredible. There are a lot of Thai food places that do well, but this one was at the top. The restaurant was busy, even for us grabbing our take out. Clearly they do a lot of business, but it didn't seem like too long of a wait even still. I usually stick to the same three dishes (you know what you like, right?), and they never disappoint. What really makes this place special, though, is the people. I feel pretty lucky. I was craving Thai and just happened to be next door to Planet Thai. Walking in this is a little oasis. The service was great. I was seated quickly and had my order in fast. I did a chicken pad thai with a 3/5 on the heat index. The pad thai was delicious. It was cooked well and was very flavorful. Next time I will up the heat. 3 was pretty mild. Been wanting to try this place so many times after always passing it on the way to Fred Meyer. Finally made it in the other week. Seems to be a popular spot. As we were leaving the restaurant filled up from the time we came in. We ordered the papaya salad, drunken noodles with chicken, panang curry with beef, & chinese sausage fried rice. Papaya salad was really good, papaya was very crisp. My favorite was the fried rice, it was topped with a very finely shredded dried pork. Sausage was on the sweeter side combined with pork & squeeze the lime that's provided sooo good! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Whenever going to Thai restaurants my bf & I have always only had the colored curries, so this was our first time trying panang. it was still rich in the coconut milk, but there was salty sweet mellow flavor about that I liked. Drunken noodles is something I always order at thai restaruants as it's one of my favorite dishes. The noodles were all piecey & broken in this one, but still very flavorful. We were excited to try the mango sticky rice, however were told they were out that day. Guess we'll have to come back another time to try it. Planet Thai has THE BEST Thai Food. I've invested the price of a small car ordering the Honey Crispy Chicken and Yellow Curry dishes. (The Crab Fried Rice and Pumpkin Curry are good too.) We just went again and it's still delicious. We got the food to-go, but the restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere (nice background music and sports on the tv) too. I understand I went during a normally busy time but the restaurant is fairly small how could service be so terrible? One of our forks still had old rice stuck to it. When we finally got our food, my pad Thai tasted like I licked the inside of a frying pan. Not sure if they were using a dirty pan or old oil but it was terrible. Been here many times over the years. I have had several different things. My go to being pad Thai with shrimp or tofu of course and it's delicious. Today I tried the Garlicky with shrimp - YES! I ordered the pad kee mao and khao soi, both 4/5 heat and with chicken. Prices and portions were solid but both dishes were the worst versions I've ever tasted. The pad kee mao was only slightly below average, but I still can't think of a restaurant that doesn't make it better. The khao soi was incredibly bland and by far the worst I've ever had. The food was ok. Portions were smaller than other Thai in the area. Service was pretty slim. They didn't come by very often and I never got a refill. Overall, I will likely choose another restaurant for the same type of food. They were so inundated with takeout customers that I feel like their dining in customers were neglected. We were seated by the door and were cold the whole time with the takeout people coming and going constantly. This really detracts from the atmosphere and it's not a place for a couple if they are looking for a more intimate setting as there is no privacy at all. It's slightly below average to us. Pad see ew had a nice flavor but the chicken was a choking hazard with how dry it was. We requested the drunken noodle with a medium spice level, the spice was nonexistent. Every vegetable in each dish was either so sour or so bitter that we had to spit it out. We order mango sticky rice at every Thai place we ever go to (as it is our favorite) and we couldn't even finish it. The rice was hard and chewy and entirely too sweet. I don't know how this Curry was so good. I was intimidated by some high price fancy items written on a board when I walked in. I grabbed a menu to look at the other items. As soon as I had the menu in my hand, an employee was there asking if it was for carry out and what my name was. I accidentally ignored him while asking if they had tofu for curry and how long it would take. The price fair and he said 5-10 minutes. I expect people to be professional about their service, but I could tell he was even more serious about his own service than I was, which is rare. He ran off with my money and quickly had someone bring me my change. I received my money in the 5 to 10 minutes like he said. I wish I lived closer. I would go back very often. I wanted to show a picture of the curry, but I scarfed it down before I could take a picture. This place definitely has something for everybody. From 'affordable', all the way up to 'too fancy for me'. The menu says they even serve halibut while it's still on fire called "Fish on Fire". read more

Visit took place on 08.16.2019 I really do try and return to locations and hope that things improve. I have no complaints about the food. I have never been disappointed. I always order the Drunken Noodle with Chicken and it is delicious. The soda always has this strange taste. I'm told (by others in the industry) it's due to lack of use. Wrong or right, it's still there. Maybe I'm the only one that orders diet pepsi/coke from the location. ??? The service... Why are you not improving? I want the service to be as good as the flavor of their food! Who is my server? No clue! I need something, I basically have to get up and find someone. I had one person say that she will be right with me to take my order, then I have another ask, are you ready to order. Wait, do I tell her or the first one? Is someone trying to steal a table? Okay, so I give her my order. Farewell, my friend, it was good seeing you. In other words, I never saw her again. Someone else dropped off the order, then the original server walked by and I had to ask for something, but did I get it? Still waiting! Then there are two men and I am not sure what they are doing. Wavering between a two and three star review. Start to finish was just ok if not bad. Took quite some time to get a table when they were really not that busy. After finally getting a table it took at least 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention. Ordered a Thai beer which was cold and hit the spot. Ordered pot stickers and Larb Chicken salad. The pot stickers were cooked in oil that was not hot enough. They soaked up the oil and tasted horrible. The Chicken salad had very little flavor and was watered down. I didn't taste any mint or herbs at all. Definitely won't return. I need to find a decent Thai restaurant close to me. The search continues. read more
