What a great find, right smack dab in the middle of Cloverdale's sweet downtown. We were on our way back from Philo and stopped at this highly rated coffee shop for coffee. Loved the decor, knowledgable staff, the high quality perfectly made soy lattes, and the tables with colorful umbrellas outside where patrons & pooches were happily sipping on their brews. Driving down from Oregon and felt it was time for a coffee. Could have chosen Starbucks on the highway. Yelpers suggested a small detour to the Plank. Was not disappointed. I would give Plank Coffee 10 stars if I could. Their almond milk lattes are the best I've ever had. Today I tried the honey almond milk latte and it was delicious, just the right amount of sweet. They have a wonderful assortment of local pastries including gluten free and vegan, and I love their quiche. Their Big Red and Arnold Planker teas are so refreshing on a hot Cloverdale day. Their baristas and the owners are all so friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Plank for being such a wonderful local coffee shop. read more

This place can do no wrong. The Mrs. Garland's Coffee is the only medium dark roast that I have ever liked. I loved it, and I am very picky, normally I only drink light blends. You can buy the beans from the coffees they serve. I have bought beans from them several times, because I don't live close enough to go there everyday. If you buy any of the pastries or the Quince they are all excellent. The service is very polite and above average. The lines are only long on weekend mornings. Most other times you can walk right in with no wait. read more

This must be a local spot. And should probably stay that way. I love good coffee and home roaster but bad attitude will not make up for it. Don't expect the barista to give you any thing related to service. No smile and bad attitude. And expect to get snide remarks for any questions you ask. And they expect you to know what sizes everything comes in. Even though it's not marked anywhere inside the store. And expect to get interrupted while giving orders. It's called tact and the barista has none. Luckily the person taking our order was pleasant enough but still got interrupted 4 times in our order by short remarks. Thank you. When I step in here, I feel like I'm in San Francisco. This place is a little mecca of cool in Clovertucky but with the nostalgia of a small town. The decor is gorgeous and very clean. The staff couldn't possibly be any nicer. We walked our dog and a stroller over here and had a little momma's retreat for my friend who deserved a great mocha. I nested us outside on the patio with a pot of herbal tea and a lovely gluten free lemon pound cake and a flourless chocolate slice of sin. Even Fido got a house made biscuit. When we realized we walked over without cash, they let us open a tab, which I promptly paid an hour later. Oh it pays to be a local in a sweet little town! read more

Love the decor and interior of this coffee place. We tried the Bangkok and instead of the normal milk, it is using condensed milk so the coffee become thicker. That is how we drink coffee in Asia. It is on the pricey side for the cost of coffee but service is excellent. read more

If you like long lines and mediocre coffee, go for it. We have been here several times, and every time the service is at a snails pace. The Mocha is made with some sort of powder. YUCK. I stopped here on a road trip with my parents, and was overwhelmed by the options at this place. They have a large assortment of drinks and baked items to choose from. I chose to get a the summer watermelon drink special (sorry, I forgot the name!) and it was delicious, and made from real watermelon. My dad, who is usually really picky about his coffee, really enjoyed his drink here. While, my mom, not a coffee person at all, got a baked good that I snuck a few bites from, and that was flavorful and not dry at all. What a great pick-me-up for a long day of driving. read more

This place is a real gem! This is a coffee shop that would fit in well in SF, Berkeley, Los Gatos, Mill Valley (or even in Healdsburg). The staff is friendly and efficient, the coffee and espresso drinks are excellent, the pastries are local and first class, the decor is hip and inviting, what more could you ask. (I've even heard people saying that the tea is excellent) I am a cyclist who used to ride to Cloverdale and stop at Starbucks occasionally for coffee and snacks. About a year ago I found Plank Coffee. Now I ride up to Cloverdale about twice a week just to visit Plank. Starbucks hasn't seen me since. Plank Coffee is a real feather in Cloverdale's cap. read more

My wife and I sell green coffee and roasted coffee in Hollywood, Florida, so we always visit indie coffee shops when we leave Florida. I take great or bad reviews with a grain of salt. The service was just right. Would they have bowled me over with friendlier service and some smiles? Sure, but I came in for something that wasn't on their menu and the barista was up to the task. The shop was clean, the decor was proper for a coffee house, and customers were sitting, their noses to their laptops or smartphones. Everything just what you would expect. The coffee? It was good, but it's a small town, they could use some competition to set a fire in their belly. read more

I have been a loyal Planker since they first opened and have never once had a negative experience. Mike and Marne know what they're doing, and we are lucky to have them in Cloverdale. Aside from the coffee, which is always brewed to perfection, they have great flavored lattes, mochas, an extensive tea list, and Jordan's totally delicious Shrub drinks. But let's be honest, one of the best things about Plank is their baked goods. Their vegan orange cake is probably the best thing I've ever eaten. When my brother worked for them I tried to get him to steal the recipe, but he wouldn't. Brothers suck. Their other breads, muffins, cookies, and scones vary throughout the week, and on weekends they have a gooey quiche that you would not expect to be so amazing considering they make it in the back of a coffee shop. Service is always great. I see a couple of these poor reviews are criticizing rude cashiers, but I've never felt that way, and I'm pretty sure I have interacted with every person ever to be employed there. read more
