two plates of food on a table
    Morgan S.

Absolutely delicious and filling! Pictured here are the NACHOS, CAULIFLOWER BUFFALO WINGS and FRIES! (wish the buffalo was crunchy and not so mushy, but that's my only complaint. Flavor was great.) Not pictured was the half chocolate half peanut butter milkshake of perfection. The greatest consistency to have for a milk shake. I wanted to go back for another. Cody's hospitality was on point and made us tourists feel right at home.

    Nachos

Such a cute little place with amazing food! The portions were big! We got the nachos, Philly cheese steak and Pick 5 from the bar. Nachos- the portion was huge and I'm not complaining!! My growing boy usually puts his own food down plus more and couldn't even finish these. He was amazed. The only downside for me,personally, would be the 'meat' was way over seasoned. But, that could be someone's thing, just not mine. Philly cheesesteak- I was a little skeptical about a $12 sandwich but it came out pretty big! Wasn't a huge fan of the actual 'meat' but that was more of a texture issue on my part. Everything tasted great! Pick 5- We got the bbq ribs (sorry if I got that wrong) rice&beand, Brussels sprouts& mushrooms, chickpeas and stuffed bell pepper. The bbq ribs are to diiiie for!! I could eat those every day all day, no joke! Everything else was awesome but all I could focus on were those bbq ribs!! *drool*

Yum! Nachos were amazing and ginormous! Service was also amazing! Definitely coming back next time I am in Ukiah.

Mashed yellow potatoes with mushroom gravy, cold tofu in barbecue sauce, and some sort of peanut protein in a peanut sauce.

Pros: the staff were really friendly (and the only reason this isn't a one star review). Cons: the food. It was terrible. Throwing tofu in barbecue sauce is not a meal. Mashed potatoes don't need tons of turmeric. I wanted to like this place and was excited to try it because of the great reviews but how high was everyone else that ate here? The made to order food might be decent but the hot food bar we tried was basically vegan cafeteria food, in the worst possible way. We left disappointed and didn't finish our food.

    Three item combo plate

I really enjoyed my meal at Tastebuds. I had the 3-item combo with forbidden rice, zucchini, and a half-half serving of jerk tofu and the faux-fish. I wasn't crazy about the forbidden rice (I've never had black rice before) but overall the combination plate was delicious. Next time I would get the rice and beans or quinoa as my grain. The faux-fish was a favorite. I also had the ginger cucumber drink. Spicy and refreshing but rather sweet. Great service, comfortable space, reasonable prices. I would definitely return.

Service: 5 stars This was my first time trying an all vegetarian and vegan restaurant, and the person was welcoming and offered samples and suggestions. The cashier was patient and polite, especially as i can be pretty indecisive at a new place to eat. Ambiance: 4 stars it was a nice cozy spot for a casual dinner with my coworker. You order at the register and it is like panda express style where you pick your hot foods through a glass case. Food: 2 stars I ordered a 3 item combo and i was not super impressed. My favorite thing was probably the coconut curry potatoes and the mushroom gravy (extra cost). That gravy was really good actually, that is why i went there twice. However, since their menu changes everyday, there was no mushroom gravy.on my second visit 2 weeks later, so i just ordered a mint milkshake. The milkshake was really not my favorite, it tasted funny and i am not sure what was the crunchy thing in it. Otherwise, i was expecting more because my coworker was raving it to be the best vegan food he ever had, and that inspired him to make seitan at home. I guess we just have different tastebuds...no pun intended.

There are some traditional items, but a lot of "tweener" food sitting between Mexican and American, while not, however, living in the space of the old fashions Mexican places of my youth that specialized in Americanized Mexican food. I have been here a lot, with mixed reviews. Today was not the best day, although some things were very good. Starting off, the chips were stale, which was sad because I remember them being pretty good. I have always found the salsas weird. There is a green salsa, that tastes herby and not at all like chile verde, there is a red salsa that is super mild, and an orange salsa that has a nice kick, and then there is some bean dip, which is never wrong. Our favorite thing is the shrimp in cream sauce and it is really good. Big shrimp and bathed in a delicious creamy sauce with mushrooms. I don't remember seeing this in a Mexican restaurant before but it works! The carnitas had good flavor but were tough and dry. I have had them here before when they were MUCH better, so I was disappointed. The worst was the chile relleno. Good chile rellenos use a Chile Poblano, stuffed with something (usually a white melty cheese, but could be piccadillo, or even a fish mixture (that's how my Sinaloan Grandmother made them sometimes). Then it is covered with a puffy egg mixture where the egg whites are supposed to be whipped up light, then the yolks with maybe a little flour blended in, the chile carefully covered with this then fried up in a pan. El Chicano's had no fluffy egg batter, the chile was right, but then it was covered in cheddar cheese that was cooked hard and covered with red sauce. I didn't care for it at all. The chile with the cheddar cheese was just a weird flavor and I missed the fluffy exterior of a traditional chile relleno. Service was ok. When we went to pay however, we found that they just ran the bill and didn't ask for a signature or a tip. Under the glass on the table is a handwritten note that said that tips had to be cash. So what a surprise! Luckily I had some cash on me so I could tip our server, but this is a terrible idea and I bet a lot of these waiters don't get tipped properly.

They try to carry necessities for the neighborhood and always have my husband's favorite apple juice, which he insists on only getting there. The restaurant is SOOO good! They have a changing array of dishes on their steam tray and you can get large and small bowls with rice, or combo plates with two items, rice, and phenomenal butter naan. They usually have 4-5 choices of meat dishes and 4-5 choices of veggie dishes. Today, I stopped by after work because it was too hot to cook and was craving a little spice. I had the chicken masala and okra and cauliflour. Delicious. The chicken was crazy tender and just the right amount of spice. It comes with some yogurt, tamarind sauce and green hot sauce, with a sprinkling of red onion and cilantro (or parsley?). I could not eat it all because it was a lot and rich, but I am very happy. My hubby got the lamb and the butter chicken. Again, the chicken was super tender and the lamb was from a local farm, Eastside ranch! Everything was wonderful. The samosas are super good, too. Prices are reasonable and the combo plate will absolutely fill you up.

I called ahead to ask if I could order my curry mild, and he said oh, they're not spicy. The guy on the phone was very nice. I ordered the spinach chicken. Chicken in a spinach, curry sauce, with rice, red onion and cilantro. I also ordered naan bread on the side. The food came very quickly, and it was amazing! The spinach curry chicken was very good. It was rich, but not overly so. The red onion and cilantro added to the flavor. The chicken was delicious, and very tender. . I loved the spinach curry sauce, it had just enough of a "zip" that I noticed that it was there. Hardly spicy at all. The rice was wonderfully fluffy. The naan bread was very tender, and also had a little bit of a richness to it. The meal also came with three sauces. A yogurt sauce, a green sauce, and a tamarind sauce. The yogurt sauce, I put into the curry bowl, which just added to the flavor, the green sauce was a bit too spicy for me, so I left that one to the side, , and the tamarind sauce I used as a dip for the naan. I really loved the tamarind sauce. It was sweet, and just a little bit tangy. . Just right. Both sauces were extremely good. It was a very generous portion, enough that I had plenty left over for a very nice breakfast. It reheated very well in the microwave in the morning. The price was very reasonable, especially with the fact that I got two meals out of it. I will remember this place. Thank you.

Szechuan is way too spicy for me, but they had a lot of items on the menu that were not spicy at all. I decided to go with a sizzling rice, soup, and the mu shu chicken. The restaurant was only a few minutes away, so I called my order in, and they told me it would be ready in just a few minutes. I go down to pick up my food, and it was a very nice restaurant. The people who ran the place were very friendly, and when they brought out my food, dear Lord... It was in a large box. I couldn't believe how much food I got. I brought it back to my room, and it was amazing. The soup had chicken, beef, and shrimp. The broth had a great flavor, and between the meat and the veggies, which were not mushy at all, there were a lot of "goodies" inside. It also came with a very decent sized portion of crispy rice to put in the soup. The moo shu was also very good. The chicken was tender and moist, and the veggies played very well with it. The "pancakes" actually reminded me of tortillas, but they were very good, and there were *5*of them. The order came with what I believe was a hoisin sauce on the side, and I put some of that in the moose shoe, and some of that in the soup, and it just completely added to the flavor. I had enough for dinner, a snack later on, and breakfast in the morning. It was an amazing meal. The only reason I'm taking off half of a star, was because they didn't give me any silverware or napkins. I didn't think about looking when I got the meal, because I figured they would be there. Fortunately, I keep a set of travel silverware with me, and so I didn't have to go back to the restaurant to get the silverware. I don't know if they normally don't give the silverware or if they just forgot, but it was a very small glitch. Next time, I will double check. And yes, there will be a next time. Thanks!
