We decided on the loaded potato skins for the appetizer and the ribeye steak medium rare with grilled asparagus for me and sautéed green beans, portobello mushrooms, and the addition of grilled shrimp for my husband and salad bar for both. As we sat enjoying the atmosphere while sipping our wine we decided to venture up to the salad bar. The options of toppings were many and everything was fresh and well stocked. We gathered our salads and returned to our table. When we were almost done our appetizer reached the table brought by a pleasant young man dressed in black. As he placed it on the table he inquired if we needed anything else and true to form I requested a bottle of A1 sauce. The young man looked puzzled but obliged my request. Even though I and my husband have eaten steak at some of the best chophouses and steakhouses across the nation and some in other countries I always found that A1 was needed to bring much needed flavor and moisture. The loaded potato skins were absolutely delicious!!! The melted cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon was perfect! While we finished our appetizer the same black clothed young man placed our main course in front of us. The fragrant, ribeye steaks that adorned our dinner plates wafted to our noses and mixed with visual cross seared markings that glistened caused us to salivate instantly!!! The asparagus and green beans were bright and beautiful while the grilled shrimp were scrumptious. I grabbed the well weighted steak knife and my fork making the first cut into this luscious piece of beef before me. I don't even think the knife was necessary as this perfectly cooked, buttery beef was effortless to cut with a fork. The sear and crust of this steak was unlike anything I've experienced. I took that first piece and placed it in my mouth and just closed my eyes while savoring the perfection that was the most perfect steak I'd ever eaten in almost 50 years of life! I sat and savored every single bite like it was the only food need for living. The asparagus was like butter with absolutely no chew or fibers of the stalk and the green beans had a beautiful snap with the mushrooms were flavorfully perfect. At the end of our meal we ordered dessert which was cheesecake. I opted for the sweet potato, maple and my husband opted for chocolate. As we spoke to Stephanie our amazing waitress I requested to speak to, meet and shake the hand of the master chef that cooked the amazing meal we had. After receiving our coffee to accompany our dessert a tall, pleasant bearded man in a black chef coat walked over to our table. James who is not only the master of his kitchen but he is also the owner of this amazing establishment. He shook our hands as we showered him in praise regarding his beef cooking prowess. James was warm and jovial accepting our praise some humbly thanking us for our kind words. He asked to take a seat at our table to continue our conversation and we quickly motioned for him to take a seat. My husband and I told him about the national article written about him and his restaurant leading us to drive there just for the steak. He was so surprised because he had no idea this article even existed. My husband handed James his phone so he could email the article to himself. The conversation continued and James told us the story of how he and his wife built their staff and how they all have become such a supportive, loving family always watching out for and caring for one another. It was truly one of the greatest experiences we have had in a long time! The food, the atmosphere, the company and conversation was perfect. It was an honor meeting James and his staff and we will definitely return every chance we get. Anyone in the pursuit of the perfectly cooked steak needs to make a trip to FarmVille North Carolina and allow James to change your mind about how beef should taste! Wife and I made our first visit here this past weekend.01/14/22 We did not have a reservation but we were able to be seated immediately at a bar height table in the bar area, which was fine for us. Our waitress, Theresa, was very helpful and attentive. Our food come out quickly. I had the BBQ Pork Chop which was cooked perfectly to order and was so juicy and tender. Very good. Wife had a burger that she said was wonderful. Appetizer was potato skins which were good. Drinks were well made also. We ordered a Chocolate Confusion dessert to go. When I came here with a friend a month ago, I was impressed by it. The steak I ordered was cooked the way I liked it - juicy and melts in your mouth! The ambience was very rustic and cozy. Our waitress was polite and sweet. But they didn't have creme brulee the first time as the owner said he didn't make a batch that day. I was pleased overall that day & decided to take my SO there another time. Yesterday, I took my SO there, our server didn't smile but once, gave the impression like we weren't welcome. Made me feel so uncomfortable. I ordered a rib eye but tasted and appeared like sirloin. It was dry, chewy and tough despite me asking it to be cooked medium rare. And still no creme brulee. Probably best they take it off the menu. What a tease! I honestly feel that servers are the people that set the tone for guest's dining experience. I don't mind the food tasting a little off but it is the way you are treated that stays with a guest the longest. For me anyway. Dining there yesterday was a complete 180 from my first! I prefer to write good reviews and won't say anything at all if an experience is mediocre, but every once in a while, something has to be said! Four of us went to the Plank House last night. Family was visiting from out of town and we were really looking forward to a nice evening out. Unfortunately it was a pretty severe disappointment, not coming close to matching the hype. The server was nice enough though not exceptional, the atmosphere was reasonably pleasant and not unattractive. We had potato skins, stuffed mushrooms, spinach dip, and seared tuna for appetizers. The potato skins tasted like they had been sitting around, the spinach dip was uninspiring, the stuffed mushrooms were good, and the tuna was delicious because the quality of the meat was good. That said, the "sauce" that came with it was just plain soy, and the tuna was simply seared and sliced. Appetizer portion sizes were fairly generous, but seriously, how do you mess up potato skins? For our main course we had mahi, crab cakes, and shrimp prepared two different ways. none of them had much flavor. Although the shrimp were supposedly cooked differently, they tasted exactly the same. When we ordered them, I experienced a red flag moment when the server asked how we wanted them cooked - blackened, lemon pepper, etc. How I want my food cooked is how the restaurant prepares the dish, unless you're asking me how I want my steak done! Of the three entrees, the crabcakes were best but they were not special in any way and they were very, very small. Three of us liked the mashed potatoes, one of us did not. They were on the lumpy side, a little gray in color, and seasoned, unlike everything else. The vegetables were perfectly cooked but had zero seasoning although the asparagus had some sort of butter on it. Again, no flavor. The salad bar was decent (but only iceberg lettuce) and the bread was excellent. But the prices? Much too high for such simple food. Should we have ordered steak? Possibly, but that's not what we chose tonight. It seems pretty obvious to me there is no Chef in house, just a couple of line cooks. Nothing wrong with that if you're running a Logan's Steakhouse, but everything wrong when you're charging for fine dining. We didn't bother with desserts as we just couldn't handle any more disappointment! read more

First and last time making An expensive mistake we will never make again. We were hoping for a nice evening for our 26th Anniversary. Instead we ended up watching each other eat while listening to 70s rock music. Took them longer to recook the meal they messed up than it took to get the original plates out. Then they charged us twice once at $79 and again at $58 for a crappy meal with crappier service. So now we have started the process of denying charges with our bank. If you are looking for a nice Romantic place to celebrate this is not it. Our server was attentive and we were enjoying our evening until we were abruptly asked to give up our table for some customers that had walked in. The waitress was inattentive and when we asked for something felt like we were putting her out. As for the food... salad bar was nice - fresh and quality selections. Wife had prime rib - the cut was very fatty and she was only able to eat half of it. I had the sirloin - the meat was good and flavorful, however it was over cooked - ordered medium and came out medium well. For the prices they are charging I expected more. We had heard great things about the restaurant, so we came to celebrate our anniversary. We were wonderfully surprised by the atmosphere, service, and of course the food. We had the 8 oz sirloin and the shrimp. Both were prepared to perfection. The potatoes and asparagus were delightful side dishes.
