    Stopped by for an afternoon beer. Nice looking brewery with a big bar and plenty of tables. My son and I ordered the Riptooth IPA, and my wife a coffee drink. Since it was the middle of the afternoon we ordered some Brussels Sprouts. It was fried Brussels with honey mustard vinaigrette, goat cheese, and hazelnuts. It was very good and just the right amount of food. Our server was took good care of us.

    We have been here a couple times, the first time I wasn't super impressed, but I am always willing to give somewhere a few chances! There is lots of seating, high tops and low top tables, as well as some outdoor seating. We came here Sunday for lunch to try out their grilled cheese for the FFLC grilled cheese experience! The servers were wonderful, kind, and attentive. The drinks were great, the mocktails were delicious. The food was decent. My husband had the "big pig" grilled cheese with bacon and goat cheese, it was really tasty! As for mine, I got the "fromage with love" sandwich, the flavor was great, but it was so hard to eat! I feel like they made my grilled cheese first before they made everything else and it just sat on the plate, it was extremely hard to get a bite of the sandwich as the bread was so tough and the cheese wasn't really melted anymore. Sort of a bummer, but I am glad to have supported the food for Lane County grilled cheese experience.

    3.5 Honestly food was excellent. The pulled pork slider was exactly what I wanted. Service wasn't great, off first impression we almost walked right back out when the host came up to us looking like she was disgusted with us walking in, said "Just two of you? sit wherever I guess" weird but okay. Girl that brought out our water wasn't nice. The lady that took our order was nice ish but the whole time it just felt like they wanted us out of there. I thought maybe we were there close to closing or something but we were there at 1pm on a Sunday and they close at 9pm. Also zero music so the vibes were awkward anyways. Idk I get it could've been an off day and the food was great so we'll probably be back to give it another shot.

    I wish I lived here to eat here again! On a long road trip, and hit this gem on the way home. I had the Sunday Morning Juicy IPA (delicious) and my husband had a Hazy IPA (was hazy to his liking). I had the dirty salad with blacked snapper (soooooo good!!!) My husband had the apple pork dip with fries, he said it was great. Would definitely come here again if we lived in the area.

    This place was a pleasant surprise... We got the Walk The Plank which meant we got all 12 tasters. Service was great... The venue is very nice, pleasant as was the wait staff And last but not least... They had the best brussels sprout dish ever! Mustard vinaigrette, topped with CHEVRE, Oregon filberts and fresh herbs and lemon. Definitely recommend this place!

    Seeking to take in as much of the local brewery scene during my recent visit to Oregon, I made my way to Plank Town Brewing Co to continue my brewrific mission. STAR #1 - Plank Town Brewing Co is located in the heart of downtown Springfield. There's ample parking nearby and a small sidewalk patio out front. Inside, it's dimly lit and cozy. STAR #2 - They offer up both traditional cocktails and beers. I was there for the beer. I chose one of their pre-planned flights, the Day Flight, that included: Isaria Lager, Blue Pool Pils, Raspberry Wheat, and Island Time. It's hard to pick a favorite, they were all so good! STAR #3 - Carne. Asade. Fries. Yeah, you read that right. They're bomb-dot-com and you need them. I planned on having something small because my mom and I had planned for an early dinner, but when I saw those delicious fries on the menu - I knew I had to have them. They were piled high and so incredibly flavorful. #worthit STAR #4 - The staff was great! I made idle conversation with the bartender from my bar side high top. Everyone was friendly and ensured I was taken care of. I was definitely glad to stop in and give Plank Town Brewing Co a try. While I enjoy sampling new breweries, I'd gladly make my way back during a future visit. Cheers, Springfield!

    Guess you win some you lose some! Today was their off day. It could have been that the waitress and bar staff were all drinking...saw that first hand. But food was horrible. Fish tacos were good so that is why I gave 2 stars. But the Nashville chicken was disgusting...the Mac and cheese with added pork was too salty to eat...and the pretzel was greasy and no salt. The cheese sauce was separated and gross. If you can't make a cocktail (I get it...beer is your thing...then don't put it on the menu). Who makes an old fashioned that looks like this? No ice cube? This is an $11 drink? So disappointed in round 2 of this place...

    Review based off drinks and service only: we came in later on a Saturday and had just one drink each, my husband had a beer which he said was great and I had a their mulled cider cocktail which I could have had several of - SO good. The bartender was great, friendly and quick. The place in general is cool. We asked what the markers on the large calendar they have the the wall to the left meant and enjoyed the fact that they apparently mean *nothing* the calendar just appeared after some construction and it's seemingly random. Per the bartender. So we got a good laugh with that

    Service was good as well the outdoor seating. My son had a sandwich so bitter & sour, I could see the face & said he didn't have to eat it. I took a small bite & it was worse than a bitter pill without water. My soup tasted like straight up green salsa. I will eat food even if it's mediocre... it was not. Now I don't even think I can have green salsa with my Mexican food. The seared fish was amazing tho. A big bill for a big disappointment. Thought about it for hours afterwards. Maybe the bear & burger are the safe bet !!

    A step up from a corner bar. Good food and great drinks. Definitely a place to come back to if you're in Springfield.

Lion & Owl, on this particular morning, proved to be both--a place of evident talent, yet uneven discipline, where flashes of brilliance are offset by lapses that no serious kitchen should permit. Let us begin with the triumph. The buckwheat pancakes arrive not merely as breakfast, but as a composition. A stack of admirable loft and structure--evidence of a properly developed batter, handled with restraint and precision. The crumb is airy yet resilient, each bite yielding gently before dissolving into a delicate nuttiness inherent to buckwheat. A caramelized banana sauce pools generously, glossy and fragrant, its sweetness tempered by the cultured tang of crème fraîche. Toasted coconut chips scatter across the top like crisp punctuation, lending both aroma and texture. This is cooking that understands balance--sweetness checked by acidity, softness lifted by crunch, comfort elevated by technique. It is, quite simply, a five out of five dish. The kitchen, here, remembers what it means to nourish and delight. And then--alas--we encounter its counterpoint. The mushroom brioche toast, in conception, should be a study in harmony: buttery bread, earthy fungi, silken eggs, fresh greens. Yet the execution falters at its very foundation. The brioche--so essential, so central--is pushed past the threshold of caramelization into bitterness. In a bread so rich with butter and sugar, precision is everything; overcook it, and the entire structure collapses under a shadow of char. The garnish, too, feels careless--large stems of greenery draped without intention, rather than composed with purpose. It is a dish that looks promising from a distance but betrays its flaws upon inspection. A two out of five--a failure not of imagination, but of discipline. The brie and truffle macaron arrives as an afterthought--set aside, unannounced, uncentered, as though it were a spare utensil rather than a composed pastry. Presentation matters. It signals care. Here, there is none. And the macaron itself? A confection that should whisper with delicacy instead resists with age. The shell is hardened, the interior overly chewy--signs of time having passed unkindly. For every moment of genuine pleasure, there is another of carelessness--overcooked bread, stale pastry, inattentive plating, lapses in cleanliness, and disjointed service. In the end, one must judge the whole, not the highlights. Overall score: 2 out of 5. A restaurant with promise--undeniably--but one that must remember that excellence is not achieved in moments. Busy but they had a table for us. Very nice decor, rotating menu. We had the buckwheat pancakes with caramelized bananas, dates, and pineapple syrup which was sweet but not overly so since the pancakes underneath were not touched by the syrup ended up being a really nice balance. Bacon was like a cross between pork belly and bacon (very thick) but really tasty. Breakfast Sando was good with in-house ground pork and a nice aioli. We also tried the savory macarons (Brie and truffle) which are delicious. Creamy and a tad sweet. Not too much truffle. Coffee was a bright tangy pour over-not my favorite type but some people really like that style. Oh, and we had a blood orange mimosa which was really good Overall an excellent experience! Definitely going to again when we are in town!

I had tasted a couple of beers and really enjoyed the red they had on tap, I would highly recommend it. The dark beer selection was not great but that's ok, they have enough to choose from. We started with the buffalo cauliflower, which was great. I am sure their actual wings would be just as good. Loved the flavor, tasted kind of like Frank's but certainly not just that. For the main, I had the jalapeño chicken sandwich and upgraded the fires to the Parmesan fries and would highly recommend doing so. They were probably some of the best fries I have had in a very long time. The chicken cutlet on the sandwich was delicious and you could tell it was fried fresh and the breading was very crisp and the chicken moist. All the right combinations. One of my friends had the wedge with the blue cheese dressing. I asked for a side for my fries because I just love good blue cheese! The other friend dining this evening had the BLT, which he was very happy with and commended that there was a very thick pile of bacon, which is excellent! NOW, where the stars decreased was the service. I am sure it's a generational thing and hard to get good help in customer service but damn. Our waitress knew very little about the products that were on the menu. I asked several questions about things that she ultimately didn't know the answer too. Here they are: They had a cream ale on nitro. I asked her what it was. She said, and I quote "A beer on nitro" Next, I asked if they made the dressing in house, specifically the blue cheese. The answer was "I don't know, I think so" and then proceeded to get me a side portion of it. AND, the crème de la creme of answers: I noticed, long after the beer list was taken that they had a Fort George beer on tap. I asked her what it was and I kid you not, the answers was "Beer". Well DUH. So I proceeded to ask what kind of beer and she simply said "I don't know, I don't do beer". The morally of the story, I totally understand if you don't know the answers to my questions, but I bet there is at least one other person, maybe even the manager, who knows the answers. GO ask. OMG. Fortunately she said she would get me a sample of the Fort George, but it was a waste because it was and IPA and I don't like them. Could have save a trip had she known more about her offerings. Anyway, I would certainly go back, but I would request a different server and perhaps be able to give all five stars. It was a clean, wide open space that was certainly modern and delicious food with a fairly decent price.

    We have some relatives coming in June for our son's Graduation. In need of a place for them to…read morestay, we thought we'd check out Hyatt Place Eugene and their SkyBar in particular. The Skybar is located on the 5th floor of the building along with the Hotel lobby... uh okay. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. We went to the SkyBar and found it to be a smallish yet convenient place to wait for guests or visitors along with getting a drink or a bite to eat. The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. The bar boasts a couple of gas fireplaces that make for a warming environment with a few semi private tables. There is a longer table for a larger group as well as several smaller tables and a few bar stools for game watching. All in all we found the bar to be a cozy semi-private environment, yet available to the guests as they come and go. All around, a nice meeting area and watering hole. We will book our family members for a stay here at the hotel. I'm looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks.
