This was a very tough year with the deep freezes we had so having to replace alot of flowers and plants. Also needed bee attracters for pollination in my garden as we lost all of ours this winter. Not sure how we found out about this place but I'm glad we came. It was a hot day of nursery shopping but we were determined to be inspired. Saw signs of them having a nursery cat but never saw one. I guess it's a good thing to have them around to keep the rodents at bay. The staff were great with all the questions my man asked about soil, pots, plants, etc. We walked away with a ceramic painted manatee, some beautiful Taiwanese Red Ixora Dwarf Shrubs, pots for them that match the outside of the home, and soil for them as well. You can really get a big plant haul for a very good price. My pool area has been completely transformed into a lush tropical paradise with cordylines, bougainvilleas and Lillies. Mealies and thrips, oh my! It's still a very cute store and has a good selection of products and variety of plants. Lots of great planters as well! However, the very first H. carnosa that I touched had quite a few well-established mealies (cotton was building around them) and there were definitely a few thrips on the Calathea and other thin-leafed tropicals. Bugs happen and I empathize, just be aware as a buyer (especially new to plant-keeping). read more

I drove all the way to Plant Ranch to buy their last mulberry tree. I asked them to hold it for me as I live about 45+ minutes away. When I arrived my tree was there waiting for me, an I was so excited as Mulberry are not only delicious, they get fairly large so lots of dangling fruit. This tree actually was already fruiting, did I mention it was a big tree?? It was huge. I had to put the seats down in the car for their nursery guy to even get it in the car. I would definitely come back here again as I am looking to purchase more bananas for my yard and all of their items look so healthy. I decided it was time to grow my own vegetables on my patio. I have passed the Plant Ranch Nursery for years as it is very close to home. On my first trip I was looking for tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers and potting soil. There were several others with the same idea as me, but it wasn't too crowded for a Saturday afternoon. I asked an associate to point me in the right direction as this place is huge! She was friendly and assisted without hesitation. I immediately found the peppers and cucumbers but had a harder time finding the tomatoes. I asked another associate nearby for help and then he led me to the tomatoes. Customer service was top notch and much appreciated! There were many choices of fertilized soil. I went with one of the cheaper brands which has worked just fine. My plants are thriving and soon I will need to tie up my tomatoes. They also offered many varieties of flowers, plants and trees. You could get lost in this place (in a good way)! You can find plant pots as well with lower and upper end prices. Next time I am in need of plants I will think of Plant Ranch Nursery first! read more

Very happy I live so close, because I practically live here it seems... my wife always has to practically DRAG me out of here every time. My fiancé and I are avid plant lovers. We checked this place out for monstera deliosas about 6 months ago and found one. It was perfectly healthy and had no pests. It's grown so much since I've had it and by far my favorite plant to have. We went back this past weekend and got lots of more plants. The owner is such a sweetheart and very knowledgeable on plants, even ones that they don't carry. She actually gave us a few propogations, one that's pretty unique and will grow a gorgeous (smelly) flower. Happy to also report that I haven't found pests on the newer plants either. My biggest issue with other places is that I have to nurse the plants I buy back to health, but not with plants that I get from this place. I know it's sort of a given that plants will come with pests sometimes, but it's nice when they don't. I highly recommend this plant nursery! read more

Here I've found one of the widest selections of cacti in Jax. They had all sizes from small to large specimens and many varieties. The broad range of indoor and outdoor plants is healthy, organized, and clearly labeled (for the most part). Indoors they offer a variety of plant care items for controlling fungus and pests, as well as pottery and small fountains and other garden decor. There is a large section with palm and some fruit trees In the back, and tons of different kinds of grasses and bushes along the left side. In front are flowering annuals and perennials, a few of which I hadn't seen anywhere else. I got a small cactus for indoors and some pest spray but I'll definitely be back when we are ready to landscape our home. read more

My daughter and I went here to get landscaping shrubs and flowers for her new home. My experience for several years there was to have helpful employees who were knowledgeable about plants a d happy to help. However, while we liked the selection and options, we endured THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. One guy just stood looking dazed and confused and offered NO assistance- the woman acted irritated when we asked any questions - and was very rude and totally uninterested in guiding us to what was best. The woman overcharged with " extra" fees- and neither offered paper to put down in our vehicle to catch dirt -neither offered to help us load or get plants to our car. There were no other people at the nursery for most the time we were there on Tuesday morning, Nov 9th, 2021- so there was absolutely NO reason for their unwillingness to help - and for the rude, unfriendly attitudes. We purchased over $250 worth of items- but wish we'd gone elsewhere- and would have if we were t in a " time crunch". It should have been a joyful experience - we anticipated it would be- but those 2 employees did their best to try and make it as unpleasant as possible. We can only hope the owners find employees who love their jobs and helping people successfully beautify their landscapes. We must now try to not be reminded of that poor treatment when we plant our shrubs and flowers- and can only hope we got those that work best where they are planted. ADVISE AGAINST GOING here if customer service is important to you. read more

I am so in love with this place! It is such a hidden gem out here near the beaches and San Pablo area. I have been looking for lemongrass on and off for a while and they had some beautiful plants that ended up being perfect. Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. If you need a large ceramic pot--this is also your go-to place. They have a wide selection of herbs that go above and beyond the typical selection and quality level. The plants are great and a good selection for this side of town. However, the staff is really a hit or miss. I went on a busy Saturday morning and a young man helped who was super kind and informative and I was greeted the owner (I think) who seemed very kind. I went back on a very slow Wednesday to ask questions about getting plants for a big upcoming landscape job. The cashier was rude and rolled her eyes and sighed at my questions. She passed me off to someone else who couldn't give me her full attention. She was nice enough but it wasn't until I went to a competition store (Pat's) and received excellent customer service where I learned just how much customer service was lacking from the Plant Ranch. Maybe they had their B team working since it was a slow week day but it left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Ellen was very informative about certain plant foods that would be great for my cacti ,she's very pleasant and friendly as well as her co-worker. The plants there are phenomenal! But the CACTUS! OMG! I stopped in on 8/2/20 with my daughter and grandson just to see what they had. We were so excited to see the large succulent section which included those that are hard to find. There was a young man that was kind and very respectful that assisted us. However our experience went downhill at the check out. It wasn't because of the $115.00 bill, it was the rude and disrespectful cashier. She clearly lacks in customer service skills, mumbling that I was "crazy" because I used a disinfectant cloth to protect myself when using the key pad. We won't be back. I can order even those hard to find items on the internet from the safety of my home. This brick and mortar has potential but has to do better with the customer experience. I went to return three small herbs of four that I purchased three days later because three of the four looked really bad. I went to return or exchange and was accused of it being my fault even though all of the other Rosemary that was there from the same lot looked horrendous. The owner was very rude and accusatory of me letting the plants dry out which was completely untrue. They must have neglected the plants before I purchased them but she refused to take responsibility or give me a refund and threatened that she would not even exchange plants in the future. She suggested I must have let them dry out. Absolutely untrue whereas the other plant of the four which I treated in the same manner I kept and was fine. She was very unprofessional very rude and disgusting. I will never shop here again. I brought back three plants for exchange again and it was all my fault according to the owner that the plants were in such bad condition. $15 worth of plants when I spent over $100. To be treated in this manner was unacceptable and again completely unprofessional. I used to spend a lot of money every time I visited the ranch, certainly every time over $100 quite often in the realm of $400-1,000 a pop. I have a bought my plants from plant ranch and re-landscaped multiple times in my yard that is over an acre in size. Palm trees, ornamentals, annuals, perennials, you name it, all which came from plant Ranch. Nonetheless I have spent thousands of dollars there and was treated very poorly and accused of damaging the plants myself. Absolutely not the case! I inquired if it was the owner and got a response from the cashier and a look from other employees suggesting that the owner quite frequently acts in this repulsive manner! Never spending a dime there again and I'm sharing with all of my friends how the absurd interaction unfolded! She should be ashamed of her nastiness! She's lost a really good customer and she will lose more because of me. It doesn't pay to be a disgusting human such as herself! read more
