This "supposedly" haunted hotel was in a great and central location in the heart of Savannah walking distance to the riverwalk and pretty much everything downtown. The room was clean and old-fashioned. The staff were very friendly and the room came with a complimentary bottle of wine. My only complaint was when I called and asked if they had a Tesla charger the said yes we do, come to find out it's just a normal EV charger which needed an adapter and we were in a rental. Other than that, if we ever stop by Savannah again I would stay here again. Side note, I did not experience any haunted activity thankfully! read more

Fantastic front desk staff, Great location, the rooms are dated and need repairs, toilet paper holder so far behind you, you have a very hard time reaching it, amenity dispenser in shower area with no amenities in them. no towel holder in shower to hang a wet face cloth, the terrace looks nothing like the picture on the website, very drab and uninviting. When trying to sleep you can see the light from the hallway around the entire entry door. Tub desperately needs to be re-grouted. The balcony door is rotted. Perfect location for easy walking around Savannah. There is a parking garage right next door which may not be cheap but it is very convenient. Check in was easy and the employees working here are very nice. The hotel is older but still in good condition. The rooms are actually very large. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. My queen room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, nice linens, lovely furniture. The shower had plenty of pressure. Fluffy all-cotton towels. This hotel is in a great location in the historic district and I could walk to so many historic sites, plus lots of restaurants and shops. Many nice touches: coffee in the lobby mornings, warm cookies in the evenings, ice water all day long. Weekdays there was wine and cheese for a Happy Hour and a piano player, all at no cost. I own a travel agency and travel often. After reading reviews I chose this place to stay on a road trip my husband and I were on. The moment I walked in the door to checkin I got such great vibes. The lobby had super high ceilings. Comfortable seating areas all around. You feel like you're walking into someone's house. Some evenings they have a pianist playing nice, relaxing music and they offer complimentary wine and cheese. The room we stayed in was charming. Just really cozy and comfortable. Again, you feel like you're a guest in someone's home. Technically, I guess you are! It feels like a bed and breakfast. There's a parking garage adjacent to it, but for a few extra dollars you can use their valet service. The inn is centrally located to so many shops and restaurants, not to mention all of the touristy stuff in Savanah. What a find! I wish I was here more than one night, but we will definitely be returning!! read more

Wonderful historic inn on Reynolds square. Close to a trolley stop. In the heart of the historic district. I like how they are true to the historic part of Savannah and not trying to be overly trendy. Staff was friendly and personable. John Earl, Marvin, Roderick, all top notch. Pretty, boutique hotel located in a lovely area near the waterfront in Savannah. The bed was very comfortable and linens felt good. There are no "helps" or conveniences available at this hotel. One must manage their own luggage, if arriving after daytime hours. There is a ramp hidden behind the bushes for the luggage cart, but unless you know it's there, navigating steps is necessary for the transfer of one's belongings There is no food accessible, and "app" deliveries are stopped at the front desk. There is a cafe/diner, Quinn's, right next door, which has the BEST BLT's on the planet, but it closes at 1400, so get there early! Lot's of other good restaurants in the area, but things close early. No microwave nor refrigerator in the rooms, nor accessible elsewhere in the place, eat your leftovers! If you call the front desk, do not expect anyone to answer more than about 1/3 of the time. Be sure to ask for room service before 0900, or it'll be the next day before it will be done. If you need anything at all, ice, coffee, extra blankets, plan to find it for yourself. Valet, Rodderick, is impeccable! When he is there and available, he serves! Wonderful man!! I would stay here again, but only because I would be prepared and plan ahead for the lack. Sometimes, a good bed is all one needs. read more

This location has prime real estate being in the heart of the North historic District of Savannah. It is within walking distance to the Riverwalk, as well as Bay Street and Broughton Avenue so it provides a great central location to explore the city. While location can be everything, upkeep and maintenance is also a big factor when staying in hotels. We knew we were taking a chance with this location based upon pictures and reviews, but opted to experience it anyways. Our biggest complaint about this location is the lack of upkeep and appropriate repair work. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 40 years collectively, we understand what it takes to maintain a location. Especially one that is hundreds of years old. But it was a true disappointment to stay in a room where you could see all of the patchwork that had been done in the ceiling or in the bathroom, as well as seeing things such as cracking in the window frames, paint chipping away, stains on your soft linens and soft lines. While the room was clean, the lack of care in the upkeep and repairs really distracted from what this location should be. Location has a deep history, having opened originally in the early 1800s and when you stay in one of these rooms it does truly feel like you're back in the 1800s. The beds were comfortable but they are small. They do provide valet parking for $30 a day and there is a parking garage that is located directly across from them. We opted to do valet parking for the simple fact of it was convenient knowing somebody was at least semi-keeping an eye on our vehicles. if you do want to do room service, they do you have a connection with the old pink house, which is located right next-door to them. And you're able to order food from them directly. read more

It' looks just like it was advertised...cute, quaint, elegant and very quiet. The location is absolutely amazing. They offer valet parking. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. There are also plenty of places to shop within walking distance and River Street is about 5 minutes away. Public parking is right across the street (I paid $30 for 13 hours). FYI...if you're staying on a Sunday night there aren't many restaurants open after 11 PM. I do however have a small complaint, there was no refrigerator in my room but I did notice one in another room. Other than that I would definitely stay here again. read more

Take pride in the facility. Don't leave the valet cart's scattered around the lobby. The sheets were scratchy and the bed creaked terribly just rolling over. The nightly price for the location is unbeatable. While we were there they had wine, snacks, and live music in the lobby. The parking situation is a bit annoying, though. The website said parking was free when I booked but when I showed up I was told it would be $30 per night. I opted for valet which would be $70 for the entire trip. It was not very convenient. With the 3 1/2 stars that I was seeing, I must admit I was hesitant. I decided to take a shot with this hotel because it is in the perfect location. It is central to everything in Downtown Savannah, next door to the famous Pink House, and has a parking garage next door. Front desk was nice and checking in was quick and went super smooth. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel needs to do some retouching here and there! But I disagree with having to change to older style of furniture.. it gives the hotel its charm to be frank. You can and will hear some noises from time to time during the night as drunken folks will be yelling sweet nothings .. echos bouncing off the building and finding there way to your window. Regardless, I slept well and the price was reasonable. I would and may very well stay here again next time I come to Savannah. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a night in Savannah in January. We stayed at the Planters Inn which is just a couple of blocks from River Street. I didn't check in on Yelp until later that night which was a mistake since there was a complimentary parking voucher for checking in! It is the small touches that make this place. First off, pull up to the curb to unload and a doorman opens your door. I was NOT prepared for this. On long road trips I always have a 'collection' surrounding me in the car: phone charger, water bottle, itinerary, etc., etc. So when my door opened I scrambled to get myself organized! The gentleman who opened the door graciously kept saying 'take your time', 'no hurry'; but be prepared folks. Or just be more organized than me. Either way. The doormen are there for two shifts and are extremely helpful. They'll take your bags into the lobby for you (no bellboy to take them up to the rooms however. Just FYI), help you load up when you leave, open the car and hotel doors and when asked give directions. They are cheerful and lovely people if you spend a bit of time chatting. Just remember they can be very busy so choose your chatting times appropriately. The lobby has very nice woodwork detail at ceiling level which is quite high. There are a bounty of wing back chairs here which were occupied in the middle of the day by guests reading the newspapers and chatting. The hotel offers a wine and cheese event here in the evenings which was crowded the first night we were there. Standing room only. Reception is across the room from the main door and seems to be staffed round the clock. Due to the number of seats and tables in the lobby, when someone has a luggage cart waiting to be put on the elevator, it can cause traffic problems in this area. The elevators are to the right of reception in a small 'hallway'. There are two elevators here but only one is working at the time of our visit. The rooms have poster beds and are nicely appointed. Turn down service is offered nightly and ice is included in this service so after a day on the town you can pour yourself an iced nightcap if you have the beverages. The door to the safe, located in the closet, was too large for the space and kept 'hitting' the closet door when ever it was opened. They do have amenities in there as well; iron, board, extra pillow. The room are showing a bit of wear. As a guest who likes my rooms to be well maintained, I always alert the front desk when there is an issue with the room. There was some peeling wallpaper that needed addressing and a slow running drain which they fixed same day. They seem to have a handyman on staff so just let them know what needs to be done. Although it is too bad no one seems to be walking the premises making a routine check of maintenance needs, I have no idea how busy said maintenance man is on a regular basis. When you stay at a nice hotel, your expectations are heightened. For example, when the room comes with coffee cups and glassware, you expect dirty glassware to be removed and replaced when the beds are made. It really is the small things that make a difference and this is rather bigger than a small thing when you are staying several days. Sometimes leaving a tip for housekeeping makes a difference. The staff we met were all very nice. The room is charming. The amenities well thought. Be aware, as the building is long and thin, many rooms overlook the parking garage next door. There are only a few overlooking the park across the street, which is a lovely park. Would I stay here again? Yes, I think I would. It really did offer the 'Southern hospitality' we were looking for on our Savannah trip. read more

They were able to accommodate us immediately with a clean and welcoming room. In the evening they hosted a piano player in the lobby and offered us complimentary wine, and cheese. Great location in a historic building. It is right on Reynolds Square. You can either pull up to the front for valet parking or park in the garage right next door. You are right in the historic district, close to River Street and City Market. Summary - Decent prices for staying in the historic district - Location, location, location - Rooms are very nice with everything you need (hair dryer, iron, ironing board, dresser, TV, etc.. No fridge, at least not in our room. - Complimentary breakfast - Very friendly service - Complimentary wine and cheese in the late afternoon, with a piano player - You can walk to all of the major attractions in the historic district - South side rooms don't really have any views, other than the parking garage - They have a small safe in the room to store your valuables One thing to note, the place is haunted. I don't believe in ghost but we did experience some screwed up crap at night. Strange noises, weird vibes, etc.. Of course I did have a lot to drink so not sure how much of that was influenced by alcohol. read more

This place is a dump, no matter how nice the pictures online appear - tired, in need of a thorough cleaning and a refurbish. We had a myriad of upkeep and cleanliness issues, the worst being mold on both shower curtains and a closet door off the tracks that we had to just prop against the wall. Probably one of the more enjoyable hotels I've been in. Close to downtown, the River Walk and most of the Historical Districts. This is an old building that has been well reconditioned. They remembered my name 24 hours after I checked in. Heck there are times I don't remember my name 24 hours later. I am not sure why this hotel did not get better ratings. We were actually very impressed with the place. When we drove up, we did not have to wait long at all for the valet guy to help us with our luggage and whisk our car away. He even talked to us about where we should eat for dinner. So, the customer service was not slacking. When I checked in at the front desk, the lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful with all that we needed. Once in the room, I could not believe how much space we had. The bed may have been Queen size, but it was seriously one of the most comfortable beds that I have slept in at a hotel in quite some time. We slept great! The bathroom was spacious and everything in tact. We had booked this hotel through Expedia and got a great deal. bottom line is, the hotel staff was friendly, the hotel was walking distance to pretty much everything we wanted and here is the best part...they have HAPPY HOUR in the lobby full with wine tasting, cheese and crackers. It doesn't get any better than that. Neither of us would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

The cons. Very disappointed. Absolutely no amenities as described. No newspaper, no complimentary water, no refreshments, no wine, no cookies and the list of so called amenities is nonexistent. (I did see coffee with styrofoam cups in the lobby, but the desk clerk didn't point this out.) Our queen bed and linens were horrible. The mattress must have come from Big Lots. The sheets and towels were so scratchy and cheap. They must have been purchased at the Dollar General Store. Our room had 3 light bulbs out (bulb in closet had been removed). Ridiculously dark. I took the bulb from the dark bathroom to the front desk to get another. The lady at the desk said maintenance wasn't working that day. I told her I didn't need a maintenance man, only some bulbs. She gave me one and didn't have a bulb for the bathroom. We removed one from a lamp! She asked what room we were in. Three days later, no bulbs. I also told her we were almost out of tissue paper. She gave me one roll. Unfortunately, we had reservations for 7 nights! If you want ice for your ice bucket, you must make your request at the front desk. Carpet in the rooms was dirty and smelly. Furniture old and needs to be replaced. Motel 6 would definitely be a better choice than Planters Inn! Now for a couple of pros! The location is perfect for walking in the historical district. Reynolds Square is your front yard. Next door is the Old Pink House (my fav) and for a decent and reasonably priced breakfast, Quinn's is just around the corner. Leopold's Ice Cream and a lovely old theater is a block away. River Street (recommend Vics) is two blocks away. Restaurants galore! You will never need your car. (Valet parking in the garage next door is $45 daily.) The staff was pleasant enough, especially since they were working over the Christmas holiday. Will we come back, absolutely not. There are too many other hotels to choose from. We just didn't get what we thought we were paying for. Consumers beware! Don't believe the outright lies of what this hotel claims to offer! read more

Planters Inn was likely a glorious place at one time, but that must have been long ago! The only positive was it's great location, in the historic district. We went there with two other couples and all of our rooms were very musty . The bathroom paint was bubbling all around from old leaks. The four poster bed had one post that was barely attached, and whose bottom looked to have been corroded and crumbling. The bath towels were tiny, very very thin, and very rough. The curtains were ripped and quite in disrepair, the handles to open and close them were detached from the curtains themselves. Our one floor lamp had a light socket that was detached from its base and surely a fire hazard. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a pleasant modern place to stay. read more

I stayed at the Planters Inn this past week and have to say... I'm not sure where these super negative reviews are coming from!!! From check in to check out, we had ZERO issues with service, cleanliness, and comfort. The location is perfect. You're basically within a couple short blocks of most of the main attractions and awesome restaurants. Our room - a double queen corner room was huge, clean and comfortable... and a decent bathtub too. The bed was super comfortable. Thank God they give you a step stool as I literally would have had to climb up to get on it otherwise. The tv was a little on the dated side but we weren't here to watch the telly anyway. LOL, fellow yelpers, one of the elevators is not broken. You have to hit both buttons to call them individually. They are on a separate call system. Not broken. We did not partake in the happy hour because it was packed but people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The common area is beautiful. As for service, no issues at all. We were allowed to check in early (because our room was ready), the valet guy is AWESOME, and they honored our VIP Expedia status with one free valet. If we ever head back to Savannah, I would chose Planters Inn for the great price, Southern charm and location. read more

I wasn't a fan of the Planters Inn. It's in a great location, it's quaint, they bake you cookies at night and put them out in the lobby- but that's where the relationship ends. It needs restoring, a little bit of a deep clean in the common areas and some outlets by the nightstands on either side would be nice. So while hotel searching I wanted something slightly historic yet still conveniently located to the Rock and Roll half marathon start and/or end points for the latter point of our trip. We started off at a Kimpton boutique hotel and transferred over to Planters a few days after just to alter the experience and get the historic feel yet still be within a mile radius of the marathon. Every night I'd have to put my battery pack to charge in the bathroom and my phone on the little table across the room. There were absolutely no outlets to plug my phone into which means that setting my alarm was a huge inconvenience- no wiggle room for snoozing! I'd have to literally get up from bed and walk across the room. Another setback was the bed itself- maybe some prefer it this way, but mattress was hard like a rock. None of this would matter if I hadn't had something to compare it with the nights before but at $280 a night I was expecting a little more. read more
