I'm beyond happy with my experience with Dr. Canales and the staff as Plastic Surgery Associates. I inquired about a procedure (augmentation) soon after their reopening during the pandemic and got nothing short of amazing service. Right away I had Lisa reach out to me and answered everyone of my many questions. She was so helpful and I felt like she really cared and wanted to make the process as easy as possible. Due to Covid, I had a virtual consultation with Dr. Canales to get the ball rolling. It wasn't just a get on and get off call, he wanted to know details to ensure I was going to get the desired results. Once the decision was made, the staff there (Kelsey, Lisa and Wendy) we're providing me with all the documentation needed, reaching out to me via phone and their online Klara portal. If I ever had a question, they responded immediately without frustration. They constantly reminded me they want to provide me with the best experience. On surgery day, I felt like I was apart of the family not just a patient. Dr. Canales and my anesthesiologist and those assisting made me feel so at home and not nervous at all. Unfortunately, I haven't shared the same experience with PSA. The staff was amazing, very accommodating and understanding. I had two children, my breasts were very droopy and empty. He had initially suggested a lift with the implants, but at the time, the only way I knew of was the "lollipop method"... the scars seemed traumatizing! So, I opted out and he decided to go above the muscle. Long story short, my breasts were so empty, the implants instantly rippled in a matter of days. We then took them out and went under the muscle. Now, they are just bigger versions of my droopy breasts. If I would have been informed there were other ways to lift the breasts and fill out the top, with minimal scarring, I would have instantly have said yes and probably would have achieved the breasts I was hoping to have had. :( Now I feel just as insecure with my husband as before. My fault for not doing all my research and not asking all the right questions! But, I also wish Dr Canalas saw me as an actual patient in need, rather than a paycheck, and took the time to explain ALL my options. Moral of the story; take your time ladies! Do all the research you can! But, I have many friends that have seen both husband and wife, and they do look amazing! Very envious and emotional towards them. read more

Went here for a hydro facial and it was delightful, Lucia was very professional and knowledgeable and did a wonderful job. The gal up front was friendly and helpful . I felt very comfortable and not intimidated by the staff nor the practice. Going to a place like this can be uncomfortable because you are dealing with your looks and how you feel about yourself. I had gone somewhere else to have my lips done and I ended up with an entire syringe in my top lip with nothing in the bottom. I had a trip to Miami I wanted to look my best for and felt very uncomfortable. I came in to see Jody and have them corrected. She was very sweet and personable. She added a half syringe to my bottom lip to help balance the amount in the top. My lips came out amazing and I will definitely be back! read more

Did an online consultation and received a call back. The woman who called me back said she'd call me again within 48 hours to let me know the results. 5 days went by and I never got a call back. I called the office asking to speak with one of the doctors. No staff would allow me to speak to a doctor. I was passed around from staff to staff and each staff refused me any access to communicating with any of the doctors. Cosmetic surgery is a scary thing and you need to trust the doctor's office you get surgery from. It is very scary and a huge red flag when the staff block you from ever speaking to the doctor. My very first surgery ever was at Plastic Surgery and Associates. Doctor Rafael Canales performed a tummy tuck, liposuction on my love handles, and breast augmentation on me on 1/10/18. The procedures took approximately 3 hours, I remember waking up very coherent, and feeling very relaxed, and rested, I felt like I was waking up from having an 8 hour night sleep, first thing I saw was a nurse who called by my name ask asked me how was I feeling, feed me with some crackers and water, and told me my husband was already on his way to pick me up. I chose Plastic Surgery and Associates for my mommy make over because, since the minute I waked in to the clinic I felt very welcome by their staff, they are very professional, respectful, caring, warm and knowledgeable; the receptionist, nurses, doctors assistants etc, needless to say Doctor Canales has the best crew in Sonoma county; When I meet wit him and began to talk to him he told me I'm going to ask you 3 questions, but you can ask me as many as you want, he was very patient and comprehensive, he took all the time to answer all the questions I had, I never felt rush to leave the room, even though it was just there for a consultation, I was treated with so much care and respect, I knew then I had found the Doctor I was looking for and I didn't need to look for any other surgeons any more. I had two more consultations with two other renown surgeons in the area prior visiting PSA, none of them made me fell confident enough, and the consultations were too short. Recovering has been much easier and faster than I ever imagined it being, after day 4 I was able to get up on, walk around, showering on my own, feed myself(with some pain and discomfort), began to cook at day 5th; everybody including my self are impressed by my fast recovery I'm ready to go back to work in 3 days. Needles to say I'm extremely happy with the results, I got what I asked for. The recovery time from the day of my surgery is 14 days. I had been looking for a surgeon to do my Rhinoplasty for almost a decade and was having a hard time finding the right one. I initially scheduled my consultation after reading so many positive reviews and also hearing a good review from my sister who is a Anesthesiologist in the area. She told me "When it comes to your face, Dr. Furnas is the best, she's an artist". I went in to the office for the first time and was very impressed with the presentation, friendly staff and how much I learned in that first visit. What was really stalling me from picking a surgeon for so long was that every surgeon I saw told me the same thing... that I needed more done to my nose than I was comfortable with... I even had one surgeon in San Francisco tell me I had a masculine face... not really something a woman wants to hear when they are already so self conscious and nervous to be talking about something so sensitive to them in the first place. Anyway, Dr. Furnas LISTENED to what I wanted and assured me I was making the right choice going for the minimal change, not the drastic one. She broke it down for me and made me feel so confident in that decision. She went into great detail about what she planned to do and how it would reflect the rest of my facial structure. Within 24 hours I had spoken to Abby about my financial options and I was scheduled for surgery a month later! The surgery was a great experience, nicest nurses, an amazing Anesthesiologist (the IV was in before I knew he was even starting) and of course Dr. Furnas. My recovery was a little tough, not in pain but more in wearing off the anesthesia but over time it got better and my nose began to heal! Almost 3 months post op now and I see the swelling going down more every day and I am truly starting to see how amazing Dr. Furnas' work really is. This is a follow-up to my first review. I had an SMAS lower face and neck lift with a small chin implant. At first I looked great. After a couple of months my neck started to get saggy again. After about 3 more months my lower face had all of the deep wrinkles that it had in the first place. Basically, after a year I look like I never had a facelift. It cost $13,000 and was really a total waste of money. I found another Dr and am now having filler injected for the wrinkles and I'll probably have to have another neck lift in a year or so. read more

What a rip-off. I paid too much money for cool sculpting--there were no results. I went through two sessions, and nothing. I have left two messages about these complaints, but they never called back. They just want your money, and are not very honest about expectations. Perhaps, I was not a good candidate for the procedure, but they should have said something instead of robbing me. Do not go there!!! I need to add an addendum to this review. They called me and asked me to come in, and they were really nice. I told them my issues--especially the lack of communication about expectations. They refunded half my money, and were really quite pleasant about the entire thing--I would update my stars to 4 because I still think they are pricey. read more

I never got past the push to schedule my surgery. I went in for a consultation a few years ago, when contemplating facial surgery. The consult went ok, but I was then led into the office for the proposal and fees and then asked when I was going to book the surgery. Really? Does everyone have a consultation and book surgery immediately? Don't people think this through? Make sure this is the right decision? Fast forward to this week. I am now ready to make plans for some surgery. I went to another cosmetic surgeon in Santa Rosa for a consult. Very pleasant. Discussed the procedure, given the estimate of fees. Was told to call with more question or any follow up. Then I called Plastic Surgery Associates to follow up with a second consult as it has been a few years. Wow! on the phone, I was told the approximate fee and then asked if I would like to just schedule the surgery now since I had already consulted with the doctor, (remember it was a few years ago). After all, she said the doctors are very busy and their schedule fills up, so we should get my surgery on the books now. Then they asked how was I planning on paying for my surgery? and then - Did I have a back up plan for the payment? This process was cold, calculated on time and money benefits for the doctor, not about performing a top notch service and caring for the patient. There was nothing here that made me feel like a valued client, - only like a form of revenue for the doctors office. Doesn't matter what my 'plan' for payment will be - it wont go to this place. Dr Canales is amazing! When I went for a consultation for a tummy tuck, he was extremely thorough. When he examined my stomach he suspected I had a hernia. I told him I do not have a hernia, my belly button has always been misshaped. Well, he was right! When he did my procedure I had a hernia (double hernia). He's so smart. He repaired my hernia and did my tummy tuck. I am super picky and I'm only 2-weeks post-op and my stomach looks like a teenagers tummy. It's so flat and pretty. I recently went in for two appointments interested in getting rid of my double chin. I was told I was a good candidate for chin liposuction. I was given a quote and a date for a surgery, all the staff was welcoming and polite. I was ready to move with the process but had to get some help with financing before moving forward with the process. I couldn't get back to the finance lady Abby sooner which I'll admit it was my mistake. When I return the call to let them know that I'm close to getting my finance done, they simply tell me that Dr. Canales after further analysis thinks he won't be able to give me the best results and therefore I should be looking at other places. Really?! I feel that since I didn't get back to them sooner which was only a few days due to school and the process on getting my financing, they didn't really want to assist me. I feel disrespected, and I wasted my time all this time trying to get this done. Kinda contradicting if you ask me, first they say " you're a good candidate, it will work" then "nope, might not work". read more

I was extremely dissatisfied with these people. The Doctor only does the actual procedure if it's expensive enough. Otherwise he has "trained nurses" do it all. I was told I would receive certain treatments, and was charged for them, yet saw no difference at all. Which, for what I was paying, is a total rip off. I cannot tell you how many rude secretaries I've had to deal with when calling to ask my preliminary questions (primarily from locations in Marin County)and who do nothing but try and force an appointment on me. I have heard nothing but good things about this place so I decided to give them a call. I spoke to a girl name Claudia who gave me the best experience yet. She answered all my questions and concerns and did not once make me feel pressured to schedule an appointment with them. Dr. Heather Furnas was by far the best cosmetic doctor I've had contact with! She is by far the most professional doctor in the industry. I had serval consultations before I made the decision to have a breast augmentation with her as my doctor! It was a very scary decision, considering this was not a "necessary surgery".. it was for me as a mom of two to have my breast that looked like they did before I had my kids. I can't THANK Dr. Furnas and her office staff enough for my beautiful looking/natural breasts!!!!!! They made the experience better then I could have anticipated. From the consultation, to her entire office staff, they make you feel very welcomed and at ease when you come in to the office. I even had a slight infection in one of my breast (this can happen, it is surgery) nonetheless they were on top of it from the moment I noticed it.. they immediately took care of it and the infection was literally gone within 48 hours. Well... I had botox on my forehead which did not work at all.. I complained and I was given a refund.. which is nice... but, they refused to see me again .. They cancelled my appointment for lip enhancement which was supposed to be next month... When i went to Dr. Furnas i was a little nervous due to the type of procedure i was having. I first saw her for labiaplasty, now if you know what labiaplasty is I'm sure you can see why i was nervous and a little embarrassed. But in my case i was to uncomfortable in that area not to see someone about it. Looking back on it now i really wish i had met and saw Dr. Furnas sooner. She made me feel safe and comfortable.
