I have been to a few surgeons for a consultation. Something was missing. When I walked into Dr Poulos's office in Marin, I knew what it was. I was so warmly welcomed by Renee & Dr Poulos. They made me feel as if I was VIP. All of the staff was informative, caring & friendly. I had a list of questions that I had gotten of Dr Phil's web site. Dr Polous answered every question. My fiance and I researched quite a few Bay Area plastic surgery centers, and eventually decided on PSS and Dr. Poulos for her Breast Augmentation. From beginning to end, the experience was fantastic; plenty of support answering any and all questions/concerns we had, a very friendly staff, clean facility, etc. Dr. Poulos helped her feel very comfortable during all of our pre-op sessions. Twenty years ago I had a nerve graft of my facial nerve and it left me with a disfiguring and inappropriate contraction of some of the muscles of my face and neck. I have consulted other reputable physicians in the past and none could think of a way to help. Dr. Hvistendahl came up with a solution that was a combination of a small surgery and strategic placement of botox, which left me with more symetry in my face than I have had in years. I had surgery done back in 2004. I interviewed a number of doctors in the Bay Area and even though he was the furthest away and involved crossing the Golden Gate bridge to get to him, and he was really nice and I felt confident in his abilities. He was very willing to answer any questions and was very reassuring. He did liposelection on just about everything from my waist to my knees, basically. The surgery went well, and really I have nothing but good things to say about him as a doctor. Now it's 7 years later, my body still isn't what it could be, and I am a bit lop-sided in the abdominal area. My thighs are still the same shape they were before surgery, except now with some sagging skin. Maybe I expected too much, maybe I need to go back a few more times (erk), whatever. My one huge complaint, and the only reason I can't give a higher score, is that I have repeatedly tried to get copies of my before and after photos, and repeatedly heard excuses like, "they're in the storage down in the basement" or "they're now off-site in another building". I've even been told that they'd get back to me, and they never do. I gave up trying in 2009, as I'd been trying for 5 years, since the time we took "after" photos!! Every year, near the anniversary of meeting him (which was halloween, 2004), I call, and every year I heard another lame excuse. Even when you tell them that maybe you'd like to consider another procedure they blow you off. They don't even offer to send them to you in a few days or whatever. How am I going to decide how or if to proceed next if I can't get the photos?? They're really doing the doctor a disservice and hurting potential returns because they're just being lazy. So I'm shopping around for another doctor. Not because Dr. Poulos was bad, but because his staff sucks. Maybe I'll find someone that can actually get my before and after photos back to me! read more

I had Dr. Poulos do fat transfer to enhance My lips.This was a year ago. Swelling took some time to diminish so it took time to get the true look after surgery...When all was said and done, the lower lip was fuller to one side contorting my mouth. Just recently went to a specialist in Carmel... She fixed his mistake... I do not recommend him for mouth . The price was at NO savings either. read more

A while back I came in and had Dr. Poulos give me Juvederm in my lips. This was my first time having this procedure done. Since then I have had it two other times. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The doctor himself seemed like he was in a hurry, I understand that he has a lot going on as a doctor but I still would've liked to have him listen to me more in describing what I wanted. I have a full bottom lip but a very thin upper lip and when I smile my upper lip looks like a straight line. I wanted to add more volume in my upper lip to have it match my bottom lip better. He ended up giving me a full syringe of Juvederm, half of which went in my already full bottom lip. I was not numbed at all before he started injecting me. Normally they will at least put on a topical numbing cream, so it was more painful than it should have been. Because he didn't really listen to what I wanted I didn't get the look I was going for at all. He also did not massage the filler after injecting it and even though I massaged it at home I still ended up having a few bumps. After the swelling went down two weeks later my lips looked the same as before I got the injections except for a few unwanted bumps which finally went away about four months later. Overall the staff was wonderful but I would not recommend this doctor for lips injections. read more

So I am not hear to bash, I am hear to just say that Poulos is NOT the doctor to go to in this office, and YES Yelp is for all of us to get referrels from, and I have used it and been very happy, with the places I have been because of Yelp. If you're smart you will look further. I had a breast augmentation surgery with Dr. Manis about 7 + years ago. Dr. Manis closed his business and went to work with his old partner Dr. Hvistendahl who had opened a new practice called Plastic Surgery Specialist. (PSS) A short time after my augmentation (within the warranty time frame) I had a child and after her birth my breast began to leak luckily it was saline but, needless to say I was lop sided and it needed to be fixed. I found Dr. Manis at PSS and told him what had happen we schedule surgery which was only partly covered under warranty and the rest I was out of pocket for. Dr. Manis and I met and agreed on what was going to take place for this surgery when I woke up and went home I noticed the my right breast was covered in gauze and more painful than my left. I had scheduled for a follow up visit a few days later when I went to see Dr. Manis I asked him what was going on with my right breast and told him it hurt more than the left. He then told me that he had decided to trim my areola; at the time in his office I didn't know what to say he made it sound like he did me a favor but what it looked like and still feels like to this day as shown me that it was NO favor. My daughter was 3 months old when this happen; a time when I needed to be close to her and I couldn't have her anywhere near my right breast because of the pain. I sought out an attorney that was a friend of a friend which was my second mistake Dr. Manis and PSS being my first mistake. I attempted to pursue charges against Dr. Manis for basically cutting my areola off and poorly sewing it back on. The attorney I hired who was the friend of a friend had experience with Dr. Manis in a similar breast augmentation case that he won, so I thought I had a pretty good chance to recoup some money to have the damages that PSS & Dr. Manis caused me. Unfortunately my attorney was more interested in the graphic details and pictures then fighting for me and mediation was pointless the next step would be court with big pictures of my breast on display and a chance of losing and having pay attorney fees for Dr. Manis. So, since I was no longer working my 6 figure job and was now a stay at home mom of an infant I decided to not pursue it any further hoping that someday my right breast would look and feel normal again but, here I am 5 years after the repair surgery and I am still in pain and disfigured. Dr.Manis is no longer at PSS and PSS has never contacted me to apologize or offer to help fix the problem or even look at what Dr. Manis did. You would think that at some point they would have since Dr. Manis worked for with/for them. Plastic surgery Specialist is not a place you want to go they don't care about their clients. read more

I had not one but TWO terrible breast augmentations from this Dr. When I came out of surgery I was shocked to see that he cut my entire nipple off and then reattached it! Then one of my breasts became higher and mishaped than the other one. He talked me into a second breast augmentation to fix the problem and then my other breast that was fine became higher and mishaped than the other! NOT WORTH THE PAIN AND SUFFERING! IF I COULD GO BACK I NEVER WOULD HAVE CHOOSE THIS DR.! He also did work on a friend of mine's scar and made it way more noticeable and worse than it was to begin with. For years prior I looked in the mirror and did not recognize the person that feels like the vivacious youthful me!! Even friends and family acted as mirrors, acknowledging that even though I am extremely active, fun loving, vibrant and youthful, my skin was aged beyond what would be expected. MD Polous, offered a number of alternatives to surgery, but truthfully stated the results of surgery would most closely match my expectations. I have spent most of my life following a natural path with alternative medicines etc... and this choice was a big deal ! As recommended I received the minimal eyebrow and lifestyle lift. the results.... for sure beyond my wildest dreams! I went to Dr. Poulos a few years ago because I knew him socially. I had 3 procedures (went in for a consult for 1). I said "I was comfortable with my looks", but asked if anything could be done about neck rings that were beginning to show. I am fairly slim and he did lipo on my neck which made it way worse. I required a Dr. at Davies medical center in SF to repair and he said the previous work left a "MESS". Dr. Poulos hit a major nerve during the procedure and caused my lower face to have bell's palsy for at least 6 months, if not longer. He did a small something to my nose (his suggestion again) and I have scar tissue on the inside of both sides and still experience a runny nose because of what he did. He also did an endotine procedure that he ended up negating one side due to trying to remove scar tissue left by the procedure on the one side. I asked him for my file so I could bring it to another doctor, since none of it went as expected, he said he lost my file! I would never trust my health to this Doctor. read more

I had a neck lift in 2008 and Dr. Poulos injected my own fat into my face and it left a lump under my right eye which to this day has not disappeared. Under the left eye there is a vein which shows that he injected badly. So I feel terrible, feel ugly and have spent thousands in fillers, which helps just a little. I was told I would have to have major surgery to get this fixed. He never advised me there could be problems. Be careful and ask questions, he will not offer to tell you what could go wrong! read more

I have seen Dr. Jeffery Binstock, M.D., several times and he has given me the best treatment I have received at any doctors hands. His office staff is a delightful and took all my fears away about removing the cancerous bumps. He also did a Moles removal on me and their was great fear on my part which proved unfounded, The procedure was about 20 minutes with no pain to speak of. He is an artist at his craft and I am honored to write and sing his praises. If you want the best and want a great outcome go and have this expert do the work. I was greatly disappointed by the welcome and the staff that I met when I went for my consultation. The office is cold and the "Practice Administrator" was fake looking and quite rude. She commented on what a "large, horrible bruise" I have on my arm which actually is my birthmark. Then I had my consultation which was okay but the MD had no idea was I an RN. When I started asking all of the right questions his response to me was how do you know all of this....He was okay but just another MD doing his job. On the way out, the fake blonde handed me a brochure and stated "well we just don't get involved in money." Well if you are charging me $8500.00 for a procedure maybe you should be informed and have a more personal relationship with your client. I could not wait to get out of there and there is no way I would fund anything with this staff. He has the gift of gab, I'll give him that. I don't mind paying money for a procedure of this significance, however, this man is not as he claims to be. He lied to me about the extensiveness of the procedure, the down time, the number of stitches. When my incision did not heal properly (I had an enormous bursa sac underneath the scar, plus a gaping wound where the incision had torn) he would just jab me with a needle to drain the infection, with no anesthesia. It took 8 months for me to recover enough to wear my normal clothes, and never did my body fully recover. The area, to this day, is deformed and numb. Any surgeon who claims to be an "artist," would have wanted to fix it, yet he was only interested in more money. However, I wasn't going to let him touch or torture me any more. I went to another surgeon and had the area repaired, though I'm still unquestionably maimed for life. And the way he treated me around all of this was absolutely unacceptable. He is only charming during that consultation, after he has your credit card number you are just another piece of meat. I can't stress enough, there are good surgeons out there. Do not go to this one. I write this not because I want to lash out at this doctor, but to prevent someone from going through the ordeal that I went through and will regret the rest of my life. read more

I came to see Dr Poulos for a BA a few months ago, I am now one month post op and could not be any more pleased with the results. At my consult I let him know what I wanted and he listened and showed me all my options on a digital program system and goes over everything in great detail and is very thorough, I had so many questions going into it and he had answered everything before I could even ask! His bedside manner, professionalism and personality put you at ease as soon as you sit down with him. I knew I was in good hands within 5 minutes of my consultation and knew I had chosen the right doctor. When the day of surgery came I decided I wanted him to do whatever looked best on my frame, which was prefect! (That's how much I trust him!)
