I saw Dr. Poulos over 10 years ago. I have not written this review because I did not want to go public. I went in for eyelid surgery and he talked me into a forehead lift because he said just doing the eyelid lift wouldn't give me the results i wanted. After the surgery, i realized I could not move half of my eyebrows. He had cut the muscles between my eyebrows without my approval. I have had years of frozen expressions and neurological pain that goes into my scalp. My forehead has odd permanent creases now that are very unattractive. I went back a number of times and he reassured me it would resolve and suggested botox to relieve the new unattractive wrinkles in my forehead he created. The results were not good. read more

After 22 years I was finally able to have a replacement Breast Aug! Dr. Poulos, Dee Dee, and the whole staff at PSS were wonderful! My new Breasts are full, soft and so natural looking. I couldn't be more pleased! I was told I needed a lift by another Doctor, but Dr. Poulos was able to place my new implants high enough to do the job! I didn't have much of a cleavage and my old implants were hard feeling and saggy looking. Now I have gorgeous cleavage and perky breasts!!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!! I highly recommend Dr. Poulos!!! Went to PSS for Botox. It was my first time having the procedure done and I can't thank enough all the friendly staff especially Kelly. From the moment I was greeted until I was done, everyone checked in on me and explained everything. It was quickly done ans very minimal no pain at all. Worst experience. I paid $9500 for the obalon balloons and they didnt work at all. I was still hungry. The doctors even gave me lots of appetite suppresents even though they swear the balloons worked! Once the balloons were taken out i was never contacted again even though i was promised 6 extra months of help. Dont buy the balloons. Total waste of my life savings!! read more

So disappointed with this practice because of my last filler treatment! I've been a patient since 2017, I went in this past summer for more lip filler and was concerned because my previous filler had migrated into the space between my upper lip and nose. Yes, I wanted filler in my lips as it had been over a year since my last lip filler treatment and I was advised to wait but not made to wait. The nurse injector went ahead and injected my lips with a filler that was previously used (migrated) rather than use a different filler made specifically for the lips she used the same type of filler that had previously migrated. The nurse injector suggested I return in a few weeks to have the migrated filler dissolved and she told me there was a possibility that it would dissolve the filler that was just injected into my lips. I went back a few weeks to have the migrated filler dissolved and it ended up dissolving the filler that was injected into my lips. I was so disappointed, I called the office and spoke with the manager along with the nurse injector whom both dismissed my concerns. I'm very disappointed with their lack of ethics and regard for patient safety and well-being. read more

**** DO NOT DO HCG HERE!*** This review is for Rachelle Goering, Nurse Practitioner for HCG Dr. Paulos recommended me to their new HCG program while he was giving me Botox. I was very excited to begin this program and had high hopes. I met with Rachelle for my first consultation and had my most recent/extensive lab work sent to her. I had told her I had a hard time losing weight and she said that she knows exactly why I am having this problem after looking at my labs. With such confidence, she tells me I have a disease that I will have to live with forever which is called HASHIMOTO's! Wow, that was a lot to take in, especially after working with the leading Endocrinologists and Dr.s' in Marin and San Francisco. I was so desperate for an answer, I totally believed her and listened to her telling me I could never eat gluten again. That's quite a lot to take in, and I was very depressed for DAYS until I heard back from my Endocrinologist. The Endocrinologist who is very well known in Marin said I absolutely 10000% do not have Hashimoto's, and that it is a ridiculous claim. My other Endocrinologist confirmed the same, and said that is one of the first things they check. At that point, I should have walked away! However, desperate to lose weight and to try HCG, I stuck with it. The entire time I felt like I was starving while trying to adhere to the 500 calorie per day diet however I stuck to it perfectly. I was told I could lose up to 30 lbs per month and I had only lost 17 lbs which seemed slow - especially because I stuck on the diet for 40 days. I didn't feel consulted through the entire program. I would ask questions and it was clear Rachelle just did not know. She also used scales that you could buy at Bed Bath and Beyond. You would think that if they are charging over $1K for a diet plan, that they'd have a professional scale. Also, she would actually lead me thru the back way to her office past the operating room where I could see patients on the table! I would never get a procedure done here knowing people can walk thru and see! The biggest concern was that the whole plan was lacking a personal/customizable approach. The whole time I had questions she would just tell me to read what was on the paperwork she gave me. She also sent me for blood work, which I had already had transferred to her, and it came to a total of $350.00 (that insurance does not cover). So with the $1K plan, and vitamins/supplements, including the $350.00, I can tell you this was a MAJOR WASTE of money! Two weeks later I ended up going to an actual Dr. in Mill Valley who told me that the type of supplements Rachelle was giving me was not potent enough to make a difference. He said that I was basically on a starvation diet, which I know is true because now I have done both plans. I have lost 35 lbs with the new Dr. and he and his team are extremely professional and they work with me and my body type instead of referring to what the book/paperwork says. Do not waste your money here for HCG!!! This was the dumbest $1500.00 I have ever spent. Rachelle is extremely inexperienced and should not be diagnosing people with false life long diseases. read more

13 years ago poulos botched the surgery on my face leaving me crooked and paralyzed. I had been drawn into his previous practice through the Cosmetic Surgery Information Center which the state of California eventually shut down. I had been the patient of John Manis for many years and as Dr Manis aged he began to develop short term memory deficit which was making me a little nervous. John Manis is the owner of Plastic Surgery Specialists and was once a gifted surgeon with integrity who stood by his excellent work. Dr Hvistendahl was the protégé of John Manis. I spent 4 hours in the recovery room in Marin General after poulos cut my mouth muscles, took out the corners of my eyes, pushed down my eyebrows, separated the SMAS and cut other muscles. Having had very successful and trouble free surgeries with Dr Manis I ran from poulos to John Manis looking like I had been in a car wreck. Dr Manis was initially horrified by my crooked and paralyzed face and did not know poulos at that time. He went to investigate poulos and came back to me stating that poulos had "done a real good job on a doctors wife" and so he would not be able to do anything about what poulos had done to me. At that point I decided to seek out another surgeon to help me if I could look normal again. After that poulos managed to attach himself to John Manis and they went into business together. One can only imagine the politics involved. The surgeon who did corrective surgery for me told me that poulos has singled out patients and maimed them for literally years and that other surgeons do not come forward with this info out of fear that poulos will sue them. I do not know Yngvar Hvistendahl but my guess is that he is probably a really fine surgeon who developed under the supervision of John Manis. I myself would stay away from here due to the association with poulos. Stanley poulos is someone highly questionable with a history of issues on record with the state medical board. He has many reviews stating disfiguring and maiming and many more removed reviews. He does "great jobs on doctors wives" and prominent people in order to create a cover for his atrocities which are not of mal practice or incompetence but are rather indicative of a psychopath with a taste for hurting. Keep in mind the photograph of John Wayne Gacey standing next to Nancy Regan. This type of personality is adept at hiding what is inside them and can even fool the President's wife. Thanks to the internet patients with a common experience are now able to put them online and it eventually becomes just a little too coincidental that many patients all say the same thing. --- isn't it just a little odd that yelp only factors positive reviews into the overall rating of poulos?? Other surgeons resist getting involved in bad work and out of fear of lawsuits they in fact write lies or omit the truth in the charts of patients hurt by poulos who come to them for help. This is the reason patients have to go to the east coast for corrective surgery...........the close proximity and social connections relative to poulos are not to the benefit of a patient needing corrective surgery. This is unfortunately the way it is. More than any other kind of physicians plastic surgeons have Carte Blanche to write anything in your chart. How many patients ever do secure a copy of their chart and discover the lies written about them? Even my dentist speaks to all the lies in plastic surgery. You must be very careful. If you have never encountered a problem with the outcome of a surgery then you do not come to know this. There is lots more to my story about lies in my chart and being terrorized by poulos. I spent 25 years in the health care industry in San Francisco so saying I did my homework is an understatement. I am very familiar with many many surgeons in San Francisco and Marin and their reputation. Dr. Poulos came highly recommended to me. Naturally I did my own due diligence. Dr. Poulos has quite an impressive background and has many fellowships and credits to his name. Then I went by word of mouth and believe me, I am not afraid to ask! Almost everyone, patients and doctors I talked to mentioned/recommended Dr. Poulos. Dr. Poulos has tremendous skill, has put in years of hard work in the St. Francis burn unit for children, Shriners, is a accomplished hand surgeon as well as a well regarded, board certified plastic surgeon in the SF area. At my first appointment I was so impressed. His staff was A+ as was his office, but I still had to meet the DR. I had my list of questions. Dr. Poulos came in looked me directly in the eye and introduced himself. I grilled him with all my questions and he patiently answered everyone until I understood. It was then I knew he was the best. My surgery was a complete success and I love the way my body looks..so does my husband! When he came to get me, Dr. Poulos took the time to let my husband know how I was and encouraged him to call anytime...my husband thought Dr. Poulos was extremely professional. It is hard to be believe anyone would call him such inappropraite names..yuck! Try putting your awful and childlike complaints into perspective..Dr. Poulos has done thousands upon thousands of cosmetic procedures. I have never heard any complaints from all the people I have sent to Dr. Poulos. Then I just happened to read those awful reviews from people who sound like the same person? He took his time explaining the whole process to me, and what he was doing. I got even better results than the last place I went for botox, and next time I get botox I will be coming back here! Arched my eyebrows perfectly, and gave me a follow-up appointment to check the overall results, where he added a tiny bit more for free. They charge per CC, which means you're not getting watered down stuff, or skimped on the amount. Great experience, and like I said in my other review, I highly recommend coming here! read more

I had a consultation with Dr. Poulos and while he was very professional, he wanted to do a cosmetic tummy tuck on me. I actually had pretty low body fat at the time, around 18%, and it should have been obvious to him that I had diastasis recti and needed a muscle repair surgery, not a cosmetic one. I also had a very large umbilical hernia which he missed. I got two other opinions and both doctors confirmed the diastasis and umbilical hernia which I had another cosmetic surgeon fix with a muscle repair tummy tuck. The price for Dr. Poulos' cosmetic skin lift option, and having the actual muscle repair that I needed from another doctor, were pretty close. Shop carefully. read more

Your staff contacted me via phone after I left this review. It shouldn't take a review for them to pick up the phone and call. My thing is that they said they would call me NUMEROUS times and that didn't happen. I personally had to call your office a few times. Every time someone promised to call me with the exception of talking to lyvia that Tuesday after work and she said she would call me the next day to get me more information, which I ended up calling myself. There was no follow through. Even if an update was not available due to doctors being in surgery, communication is everything. They should of taken initiative to call and let me know, instead of me wondering if your staff is going to do what they say. After that I left it alone. & still they didn't CALL they like said they would. Your word is all we have. So if you say your going to call a potential client, do it. If you send an email at least call them and say hi Ijust sent you an email and sorry for the delay for such and such reasons please let me know if you have any questions. That's the right thing to do especially if you have been dropping the ball. Because of the unprofessional communication I can't trust that I will get the care I need. This review is for Rachelle Goering, MA, NP My experience with Rachelle was very disappointing. I have PCOS and was seeking assistance to balance my hormones with natural herbs. She immediately put me on several supplements which I began taking immediately. After doing some research on my own, however, I discovered that one of the supplments had the potential to be dangerous. I wasn't too concerned because Rachelle had assured me in the appointment that everything she gave me was perfectly safe. But I did email her immediately asking for her reassurance. She took exactly 14 days to answer my email only to tell me that the supplement might be unsafe for my situation. I was shocked and asked her to call me immediately to discuss. She never called me. One week later, I asked for my money back and both she, and the office adminstrator at Plastic Surgery Specialists, said no. He listened, educated and created a plan. I am a hairdresser in Marin and I have seen many of his clientele, not only is he amazingly talented...he is honest and caring. Rachelle Goering, Nurse Practioner I cannot say enough about the care and treatment I received from Rachelle. I have struggled with weight loss my entire life, and also began having some severe joint and lower back pain the past few years. Before seeing Rachelle, I had seen numerous doctors who could find nothing wrong and just wanted to prescribe pain killers and other pharmaceuticals. I cannot express the extent of my gratitude to Dr Mohebali. He first treated me in the emergency room the day before Thanksgiving in 2011. I had fallen and had significant lacerations on my face. I was recommended to them by my rheumatoid arthritis doctor. I have battled arthritis over 25 years and weight control all of my life. My weekly infusions, were no longer effective, and a more severe treatment was anticipated. Therefore, I spoke with Dr. Poulous about his Wellness Center and he strongly recommended I begin treatment with Rachelle Goehring. He said, often the inside needs repairing before the outside! Since this is a Plastic Surgery Specialists, and they are well known for helping people be beautiful and feeling better, I turned myself over to the Wellness Center and Nurse Goering. In six months of, vitamin supplements, morning healthy shakes, HCG, I have successfully lost weight (60 pounds!). I met with Dr. Hvistendahl for a rhinoplasty consultation a few months ago after a lifetime of disdain for my nose and it's bulbous tip. Dr H took his time with me, created digital images to help me envision the outcome of surgery, and never once pressured me to move forward. It was actually quite the opposite, as he helped me weigh the pros and cons of the procedure. I decided to hold off on surgery initially, but once I decided I was ready to take the leap, Lyvia and the other office staff were able to accommodate me very quickly to accommodate a very tight window of availability on my end. This is a VERY heartfelt and emotional review for me to write however I feel as tho it would not be fair to keep the services of this FANTASTIC business from the rest of the public.... I had gone to a few different places before I found these angels through a friend of mine who gave them a high recommendation and boy am I glad that I gave them a chance!!!. I had received some injections which were told to me that they were one thing and turned out to be FAR from what I thought I would be receiving and in turn (and not to get to into it ) but it turned out to be a horror story which I was the STAR in. I had allergic reactions to whatever they had given me and I was living with this awful mess (on my FACE) for years. Thank god I found Emily and the girls over at PSS! Not only were they soooooo very sweet but they were fantastic in every single thing that they did from Botox to peels to skin resurfacing. You name it Emily can do it! Dr. Poulos removed a small carcinoma from my nose. It was in a very visible place and I was worried that I would have a scar, but it healed perfectly and isn't noticeable at all!
