Normally plastic surgery is hush hush ... but I'm putting myself out there for Dr. Douglas at PSS. If you want to know what I got done - message me and I'll share. I'll start by saying I got 7 estimates for basically a mommy makeover here in the Bay Area, one in Beverly Hills and one in Miami. I over researched for months. Every experience was different but immediately Dr. D stood out. Every single surgeon sent me a quote doing online (due to Covid) consultations except for Dr. Douglas he insisted I come in so he could see and feel the areas I wanted work on. We wore masks, temperatures checked all very Covid safe - his confidence stood out but he wasn't cocky. I appreciated the extra effort of the free zoom consultation and then a free in house consultation. He then provided me with a quote. I found it to be fair. Some were cheaper but I truly felt Dr. D was the one and worth every penny. Dr. D has excellent bedside manner. He kindly suggested some really helpful revisions that no one else suggested or mentioned. For example I got a breast reduction and he said my nipples would need to be revised so it was proportional. TMI but really helpful and they look so great and natural now. 6 other surgeons did not even mention the concept. I just find that unbelievable. From the consultation, pre op, operation, and now post op the level of service from PSS has been phenomenal. A+. Every single person has been amazing. The office staff, the nurses, the anesthesiologist - all stellar. This has been a first class experience. I'm currently 11 days post op and the transformation has been amazing and there's still healing to do but I can tell I'm going to be blown away with confidence within a month or so. I signed up for lymphatic drainage massage with Eva and I'm convinced she's going to help speed up my recovery holistically. Major kudos to the entire PSS staff for helping me with my life transformation- I'm forever grateful!! Oh! And they take Covid seriously!!! My hubby wasn't allowed in at all (I'm sure he was relieved), my temperature checked and Covid questionnaires every time and I had to have a negative Covid test in order for them to operate. Dr. Hvistendahl and his staff are awesome! It's been a little over a month since Dr. H removed my breast implants (which I had hated since I got my set over 20 years ago) and a lift and I truly could not possibly be happier with the outcome. Previously, I had seen four reputable surgeons over the past 5 years to remove my implants, and no one would listen to me. No, I didn't want a smaller set of implants (I'd gone under the knife three times previously getting smaller and smaller implants)... I wanted them out. And Dr. H listened and HEARD me! A last minute decision for a bit of fat transfer to even them out was a great call. I finally have the size I've always wanted, a big B/small C. I tossed my massive, moulded underwire bras and bought teeny little wireless comfortable Skimms bras. I feel like myself again. I went in for my first consultation in July. I met Dr. Stanley Paulos and decided he was the surgeon for me. I hadn't spent more than 15 minutes with him. Dr. Paulos gave me exactly the look I wanted. I thought he's either a mind reader or he has the best intuition I've ever seen in a man. I've been getting Botox twice a year to fix a facial misalignment for 2 decades and have been going to Dr. Chase Lay's office in San Jose with incredible results. Unfortunately I decided to try PSS, due to close distance, and had the procedure done with Emily. I explained the anatomy and provided a picture with the exact injection location. Upon leaving, the front desk asked me to call back if I don't see results after 10 days. After 2 weeks of not seeing a difference, I called and spoke to Emily. She rudely told me to go back to San Jose and refused to examine me. Shocked, I called back and left a message for Heather, her manager, but never heard back. Today, I was prepared to sign up for a few procedures and instead learned and actually felt beautiful just as I am. I'm 43 and work in tech, which values youth. Recently, I wondered about a brow lift v. Botox and liposuction, and a few other things. Dr. Douglass sat down with me and he recommended against a brow lift, explaining that it would actually look less natural. He took time to review what and whens of different procedures. We talked about what I've already been doing with regular facials, sunscreen, etc. Dr. Douglass clearly loves being a surgeon, yet his focus with me was safety and avoiding an unnecessary procedure. So, then I went a step further, because I've also put on weight after taking steroids for a pulmonary disorder and it's getting harder to be the shape that makes me the happiest. Dr. Douglass explained that liposuction is for body contouring, but again he would only want to proceed when a person was at a stable weight for 4-5 months. He encouraged me towards a non-surgical program focused on diet and exercise. Dr. Douglass was genuine, kind, thorough, and gentle with me as I pointed out what I don't like about myself. His compassion, surgical rigor and record, unwavering commitment to ethics, and ability to connect with me as a human being made me realize that this is what also made him such an excellent surgeon in the military. Dr. Douglass is exactly the surgeon you want to speak with and work with to feel like your best self. Unexpectedly, he let me know that for where I am in aging I was also already there. I chose PSS for my Neograft hair transplant and my experience with working with the doctors and professionals there was nothing short of life-changing. My only regret is not reaching out to them sooner! The procedure itself, and my recovery afterwards, were exactly as carefully explained to me by my PSS care team. I could already tell after a day or two what a success it had been. I felt great the next day, was out and about by a week, and looked completely normal after 2. Julia, my stellar coordinator, went above and beyond, answering every question and concern I had along the way. I'm more and more thrilled with my results every day--I look and feel a decade younger, and even my friends can't put a finger on what I changed. So my advice to you is that if you're considering Neograft--or really any cosmetic surgery--talk to PSS today. I came to PSS for the Orbera Gastric Balloon. Where I met Bethany who has been an inspiration in my weight loss journey. Unfortunately, COVID hit 3 weeks after I had the balloon placed. The office had to close for 3 or 4 months which put a damper on things. That being said things didn't go as expected in the beginning. But I was still able to communicate with Bethany whenever I had questions. She was very responsive in answering my phone calls, emails, and even text messages. Although my journey wasn't what I expected. Orbera is the best thing I ever did for myself. I am extremely happy with my results. I have only been to the office a handful of times but it has been a good experience each time. I would recommend PSS if you are interested in an Orbera gastric balloon. read more

Had previous Cool Sculpting done at PSS and called to see about my do the procedure again in addition to my wife . The receptionist said that the specialist would call me with any questions I might have. No call back and 3 days later I called again, an apology that the specialist was busy but would call back. A week later, still no call, so I called again, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they had a wrong phone #. Receptionist confirmed they had my correct phone # on file. So I asked to speak with Dr Douglas or his voice mail. She said that she would have him call me, but no call from him after 4 days. Now I have not had any bad communication or tardy bills with this firm and am puzzled why they do not even had the courtesy to call which is hardly professional. I cannot recommend them. Dr Poulos made 3-D simulations of what my wife would look like after breast augmentation. But they were all way too big. We asked for them to create images with breasts about half that size in the week before the procedure, but he wouldn't make the time and said we'd work it out in a 30 min meeting just before the surgery. During that 10-15 minute meeting, actually sitting at the simulator he just wouldn't push the buttons to reduce them by more than 15% -despite being asked to repeatedly. He then assured us that he'd use his judgement during the procedure to make sure they looked right. So she ended up too big. It's just obvious that they're fake, even when dressed. What really galls me is that he wouldn't just push a few buttons -which would have taken a minute- to show what had been requested. I honestly wonder if he only had big ones in inventory and didn't want to reschedule to after the next delivery. That or he was just in too much of a rush, packing the appointments in. So be advised: Make sure you have gotten a commitment to do exactly what you want, in writing, before going through with anything. read more

TLDR; Dishonest, untrustworthy, lack of professionalism, uncleanliness, BOTCHED surgery Avoid this place like the plague. I honestly don't know whether the staff and doctors here are grossly uneducated, lazy, or just outright negligent. I got a breast augmentation here a few months ago and am unhappy with my results. I've attempted to speak with Dr. Douglas regarding my concerns but he was immediately dismissive (more on that later..) First off, I should have been wary to begin with considering that this office never closed down, even during mandated COVID-19 closures required them to back in March/April. The staff is dishonest and rush you through the process in getting you to book and pay your appointment in order to "take advantage of the $2,000 promo that ends this month!" This "promo" has been going on this entire year, and is merely a tactic to get people to feel rushed to pay for a procedure since this promo is "ending at the end of the month" when it's been offered every month this year. They are incredibly disorganized. I had to explicitly confirm the details of my procedure due to the lack of communication on the office's part regarding pre-op, post-op prep, and even the TYPE of implant I was receiving (even if you distinguish between silicone or saline, there are multiple brands and implant styles to choose from). Rather than office staff reaching out to me to prepare for the procedure, I had to reach out to them to ask about preparation after doing my own research online. Things that Dr. Douglas and then staff should have prepared me for. Dr. Douglas relied on the vector imaging machine to determine an appropriate implant size, rather than ever taking my measurements and choosing the correct size implant width for my body type. He chose an implant that is FAR too wide for my frame, that looks unnatural, flat, and wide. The implant profile and amount of cc's determines the width of the base of the implant - something Dr. Douglas failed to communicate with me about. He never took my measurements. This is a huge red flag and unfortunately I was not educated enough about breast implant procedures to have the foresight that taking measurements is the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM that any doctor preforming breast augmentation should do for you in order to determine an appropriate implant size. Dr. Douglas and the staff are constantly rushing you and pressuring you. In the 6-8 appointments I've had with Dr. Douglas, the time I've met with him accumulates to less than 1 hour of face time. I spent more time waiting in the waiting room to be seen, than I have interacting with Dr. Douglas. He truly does not have your best interests at heart and is there to minimize the amount of time he has with clients, and maximize the amount of money they're making. Their business practices and communication have been incredibly shady, and I honestly question whether my procedure was completed as I had specified due to their poor and disorganized communication. My trust in this practice is next to none. In my post op appointments, Dr. Douglas never brought in notes about my procedure, post/pre-op charts, or anything of the sort. He came in empty handed and our meetings would be 3-4 minutes long. I find it incredibly hard to believe that he remembers all the specific details of each person's procedure, especially if he's doing 10+ surgeries a week. Lastly, I did have a few issues following the surgery. After obtaining multiple second opinions, other doctors concluded that Dr. Douglas did not enlarge the breast pocket enough, and therefore the implants were never able to settle or "drop and fluff." The implants still sit high on my chest. I brought this up to Dr. Douglas, and he blamed my anatomy and lack of breast tissue prior to the procedure, on his inability to increase the size of the breast pocket. Rather than hearing my point of view, he immediately became dismissive of my concerns and blamed my anatomy. His opinion is contrary to multiple other doctor's opinions, and contrary to research as shown online. I've seen completely flat chested girls who have better results with implants that were able to properly drop. But it's too bad I had an incompetent doctor. The "discount" you're paying to get your procedures done here is NOT WORTH IT. You'll be treated with disrespect, told incorrect information that fits the office's agenda, and will get a botched surgery and end up paying more to get a revision. This office and staff are shady, and I'd be very careful if you're considering going to them for any medical procedures. Even if they offered me a completely free revision, I would not do it, just knowing now what I know about how shady their business practices are. Do NOT waste your time or money here. read more

I absolutely love them! I had a weight loss ballon surgery just recently. Going into the procedure I knew there was the chance that it wouldn't work for me. That unfortunately was the case but the staff here has been incredible. Julia and off site nutrition coach Cameron have been extremely supportive and helpful. I am 54 years old and have been going to Dr. Poulos and his nurses for over 17 years for cosmetic surgery, laser procedures and injections. Both he and his nurses are very thorough and thoughtful in understanding the results I am seeking. Their on-site surgery center & med spa offers the latest in lasers, skin care products and injectables, fillers and Botox. They are gentle, caring and continually train on the latest techniques/products available. I recently did my Botox and fillers with Heather, a nurse at PSS, and was surprised how many varieties of fillers there are for the various results one wants to achieve. Afterwards my girlfriend asked me what I had done to look so rejuvenated and then took her 85 year old mother to PSS, She said that Heather was not only extremely gentle, but listened to what she wanted and then achieved the desired results. The only "complaint" I may have is that they are so very busy is that I often need to book my desired procedures in advance.(However they do call me if they have a cancellation.) I hope anyone who wishes to have the gastric balloon procedure (or any procedure) considers the holistically atrocious experience I had w/PSS. I'm trying to express this as accurately as possible so that future patrons do not face the mental & physical stress of advocating for themselves to people who can't be inconvenienced. I will attempt to highlight the inconsistencies within the practice as they came up. Tl;dr: I had the gastric balloon procedure, was in excruciating pain that wasn't managed well, was treated poorly by those supposed to support me, & had my HIPAA rights violated w/little care or regard for my wellbeing, amongst other things. The experience has left my body traumatized & me wondering how I could be gaslit by a med. practice. My consultation was fine -- I was told the gastric balloon wouldn't be a big procedure, & I shouldn't need to take more 2 -3 days off work for it. There were risks, side effects, & discomfort, but I would have their support through the process, especially the Health & Wellness Coord. Bethany Tully. They reassured me that they were available to me 24/7. After, I noticed A LOT of pain in my abdomen-- I could not lay or sit down in any way that did not elicit pain. I thought it was just initial discomfort, but that was no longer the case as the days went on. I tried to call the after-hours # on a few occasions (no later than 8 or 9 pm) to talk to the on-call medical staff. Paige, who was the RN for my procedure, would often be on the other end, growing quickly impatient w/me. I can't do this w/you all night," she said, after about 6 min. on the phone. I was also told by Bethany Tully in an email that [quote], "we have never spoken to a patient this many times in our past 500 patients." She also said they were trying to "offer extra special care totally outside the norm because of your mental state." My mental state? This is a degrading & discriminatory statement. Post-procedure, I'd vomit frequently & couldn't even keep ice chips down. I was so dizzy from dehydration that I had to go to urgent care & get two IV bags of saline. I had X-rays taken of my abdomen & the staff at the urgent care were very worried about my overall health. I had pain for weeks in my mid-back. I reached out to Bethany Tully & asked if this pain is normal, & she said that it is common. Later, when I asked Dr. Astroff, the GI who performed the procedure, his take on the source of the pain, he said he had never heard of a patient experiencing that w/this procedure. They couldn't schedule me for removal until two weeks after insertion at 11 am. I received a call from Paige two days pre-removal, asking me if I wanted to switch my time to 6 am. I said no, thank you; I was okay w/11. I then received a phone call from my father, saying Bethany had called him directly, saying I refused Friday. This was incorrect because I thought the suggested time switch was optional, & I didn't take the option. This leads me to my complaint about privacy & the disclosure of medical information. Bethany didn't contact me & bypassed me to speak to my father even though she had no explicit consent to do so. PSS holds that because my father was present for the duration of one phone call w/Nurse Paige, that means that I had given some type of implied consent, which isn't how HIPAA works. I was told that pre-removal protocol was 6 days of clear liquids by Bethany, but Paige told me 3 days. When I pointed out this discrepancy, Olivia insisted that there was no miscommunication within the office. On the morning of my removal, I wanted to amend one line item of the consent form that stated a release from any full or partial refund, since I was in conversation w/the office manager Olivia about a refund &/or some sort of solution. I cleared this w/Nurse Paige, who was w/me, & I had her write a supplement on the bottom of the page in her own writing, reflecting the continuing conversations around the refund, & she signed it as well. I didn't edit any other part, including any part about any of the procedure's risks or the liabilities associated w/it. Dr. Astroff came in frustrated saying they couldn't do the surgery if I didn't sign the consent. I told him I've already signed the forms. Apparently, Bethany didn't want to accept it & sent him in to get me to sign a new form. Ultimately, I had no choice but to sign a new form w/o the edited line item, or they wouldn't remove the balloon. Overall, PSS didn't provide me w/the care promised or the respect deserved. Any amount of refund was refused, w/the insistence that I could "still" take advantage of the "complementary" 12 months of "health & wellness" coaching w/Bethany, who didn't make me feel particularly healthy nor well. My final convo was w/the business manager, Olivia, on the phone yesterday, whose brusque demeanor & denial of practice wrongdoing made it clear to me that hearing my concerns out had only been a pacifying measure w/no action intended. read more
