The compressor on our KitchenAid fridge needed replacement under warranty, and Whirlpool connected us with Platinum Appliance Service as a preferred service provider. From start to finish, their service level was excellent, particularly our technician, Kevin. Not only did he show up when promised, but he was friendly and professional. He diagnosed the issue correctly, explained it clearly, and told us the next steps. He replaced the part under the time estimated, and cleaned up after himself. I would 100% contact them again, and will refer them to my friends and neighbours. Their receptionist is also very pleasant and easy to deal with. Don't hesitate! This has to be the worst company I've ever had to deal with. I am now at 8 weeks without a working washing machine. They never have the necessary parts in stock. It took them over 4 weeks to receive them. When the parts finally arrived, the tech comes and installs them, machine worked for once cycle and stopped working again. It turns out different parts are needed . Now over a week later, still no parts. Every time I've called to bring up the issue, I'm brushed off and told they cannot do anything. In all the years I've owned appliances I've never had to wait more than a week for anything service related . The only reason I'm using this company is l that they're the one contracted under the warranty I purchased through Whirlpool. The tech was nice, I'm not blaming him. It's the company's processes and policies and customer "service" I have an issue with. They are complete garbage. If I could give negative 5 stars, I would. I've seen several other reviews where the experience was similar to mine. And the terrible responses from the company to those reviews; defensive and condescending. Not a good experience, and would NOT recommend this business for your appliance repair needs. When our dryer stopped heating, we called a few appliance retailers, one of which recommended Platinum Repair Service. The technician arrived, asked how old our unit was and then made an initial assessment without checking the unit? We then prompted him to look at the unit to confirm/diagnose the issue. He checked our power source (not the issue), and then given his vast amount of experience (I guess), he diagnosed it as a heating issue, and then left. In total, he was here for less than 10 minutes. The next day, we then received an invoice (almost the cost of a new dryer) which you need to pay up front, to repair the unit. Strange as he never diagnosed the issue, yet the invoice included costs for the Element, Thermistor, and High Limit Thermostat. Shocked, we called the company and spoke to reception, and explained the situation and our dissatisfaction with the technician. We later received a call back saying they would refund our initial assessment cost if we decided not to proceed with the repair. We then received a call from the owner, who walked back the refund and hung up on my wife after we explained our dissatisfaction with his company and their process. In summary, would recommend you AVOID. BTW - we called another company who promptly diagnosed the issue and fixed it on the spot (as he brought the common parts with him) for much less than what Platinum was going to charge. read more

My repair started with a door latch that was broken on my dishwasher. I finally get an appointment and they come out to tell me it is broken. They fix that stip screws so now I need another repair. Fastward a month and I phone to see what is happening and they forgot about the repair. Comes out to finally repair that has trouble putting it in and now that part is fall off my machine, Call them and told me I will have to pay for their shotty work. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! We booked an appointment through Whirlpool to get our microwave serviced. The technician that was sent (Theoron) spent less than 5 minutes then told us he was not sure which part is broken but he cannot fix. We asked him some more questions regarding the microwave and it appears that he was very unfamiliar with our specific model. For example, he could not even access the lightbulb without us telling him how/where to. Also, he had to ask us how to place back the filter after he removed it himself. After plugging in the microwave, he was not familiar with the basic setup such as turning on the vent and setting up the clock. We complained to Platinum but they were unwilling to do anything and kept telling us to contact whirlpool. We talked with whirlpool supervisor where they agreed to either send in a more senior tech from the same company to reinspect, or send the same tech with additional help. On the day of the appointment (there was email confirmation of the appointment), we were not contacted at all, so we called Platinum Appliance to check if anyone was coming in, and they told us they are not gonna send anyone to service. They even told us to bring the unit in ourselves. Excuse me? Whirlpool made an appointment for you guys to come in. Not only did you guys not show up but also did not notify us and acted like there was no appointment made. We did call whirlpool right after that to confirm if it was a no show from Platinum, and whirlpool did apologize, but Platinum did not apologize. What a nightmare this company is. I paid up $170 up front, and no service and each call I dealt with very rude staff. They call you around 9am on the day they are supposed to come, to let you know for what time you are on the list, I missed the call, called back in about 30 minutes and they told me they kicked me of the list for that day because I did not pick up immediately. The following day I managed to pick up and they would come between 4-6 on a Friday afternoon, no other time possible. I waited and waited and NO SHOW. No phone call, no excuses. I am almost a week without a stove at this point. I left a voice mail on Friday, and guess what they have no time today on Monday .... and it is not their problem. What a horrible attitude! Took two months to fix with three visits and two parts orders since the second Tech told us we needed to also replace another part. Then the washer lasted just over a month and had the exact same issue with drainage as before. No warranty. No assistance. I had a thermador steam oven that was stuck on descale. it was a tricky repair as The serial number had been scratched off and even the thermador techs didn't know what to do to fix it. Norm came out first and then Dale. They ordered a new steam board in hopes that it would work. They both came out, removed the wall oven and trouble shorted the repair- it worked and I was delighted after not having an oven for a couple of months. Both Norm and Dale were a pleasure to work with, they were upfront, communicated when they would be. coming and didn't give up. Tech sent out by whirlpool to check on our brand new fridge (bought June 7) as the ice maker quit working after one month. Tech came out on July 17 and said we needed a new part. Here it is Sept 20 still no repair! We called whirlpool and get told sorry part is on order over and over again! We called trail to find out the part was not even ordered till Aug 15 and now Platinum tech tells Trail that he closed the order and its the water line! So not true!! Honestly if I could give zero I would. Through Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid warranty and extended warranty I've had 2 scheduled repairs with this company. The first in 2020 was such a joke - over a period of 3 months a bunch of no-contact, no-shows, wrong parts, broken parts, and failure to actually fix the issue, Whirlpool/kitchen Aid finally sent a Kitchen Aid factory tech who fixed the issue correctly. Platinum only responded directly to state the broken /wrong parts were not their fault. Head to May/June 2023. On June 1 Extended Warranty schedules appt for June 2. June 2 no contact by repair centre the morning of to advise of an arrival time. I contact Whirlpool chat service to inquire and they state repair centre will call shortly. An hour later another chat message to Whirlpool informs me the appliance repair centre closed the ticket and will not attend due to prior service issues but they failed to actually report this to Whirlpool. This is disgraceful and unprofessional business practices and goes to show the 2020 situation was not a one-off or just a COVID related delay issue. I would've easily given Platinum another opportunity to prove themselves a worthy and respectable company. Clearly based on the reviews I've now read - they are not. If you are booking at least under warranty - ask for a different repair centre. read more

A tech from Platinum came to repair my stove on October 2020. Parts were needed. Parts ordered and repair scheduled for yesterday, February 28 between 8 am and 12 noon. I waited five months and for repairs they are a no show. No call no show. No repair. I paid $3,0000 for a KitchenAid stove and it is still on warranty. read more

For the most part I do try to be aware of environmental concerns. So when my microwave crashed I called Platinum for service. Their service call consisted of opening and closing the door of the microwave and shining a flashlight at it. I suppose I had expected more than an educated guess as to what had failed. Unfortunately, appliance repair isn't what it once was. It was a waste of my $169 service charge. The company did promise to refund $69 but after two or three weeks I have yet to see that money nor have they replied to my last e-mail. Had a dishwasher that wasn't draining. I'd had sinus surgery coming up the next day, so when they said that he would call the next day we told them leave a message and just let us know the time as I would be home recovering. And he did call, but was rude and said if I didn't call back within 2 hrs he wasn't coming.... I was literally in surgery. They wanted $167 before they would come. We called them booked appointment. He came and "fixed" the dishwasher. I was the only one home at the time, was still bleeding drugged and bandages. And not allowed to bend over at all. So the hose had not been put in properly to begin with (supposedly) and I knew it had mole inside hose.....so all he did was tie the hose up with 2 zap straps around my adjustable sink hose. Didn't get a chance to look at it till 2 days later. Like WTF, I had zap straps, could have done that myself. So $167 for 2 zap straps and a tonne of rudeness. I had already organised the repair, parts had been delivered and warranty folk said they would cover cost but I had use Platinum for the repair. Guy Turned up January 28th- looked at the stove- and photographed the user manual. This is not true they tried to charge me an extra $150 labour fee. Instead of taking it, sending someone out and grabbing my $109, she spent the time to look up what was involved in the repair of my gas range. She explained to me that the part I would need is no longer available. I appreciate companies that employ people who have integrity and honesty. I will be sure to call them again in the future. As for the service part, I have used Platinum before to repair a headache of a front load washer that I had had repaired about a million times previous (I HATE MY WASHER!!!). They came out, diagnosed the problem quickly, fixed it and it is still working. I'm sorry others have had negative experiences but I can't understand why. read more

Terrible. 1 star because Yelp hasn't yet allowed 0 stars. Have no choice but to go through them because of our property management company. Washer broke and we were advised that they would call us. Missed the call at 8am (we have 2 children under 2 who keep us occcupied in the mornings). Returned the call at 8:30 am and were informed that "our spot had been given away". Credit to the technician- he made time the next day, but then were informed a new machine was needed. Machine was brought and installed, only for us to realize that it's barely had a cursory cleaning. Green Gunk in the fabric softener dispenser that is either old softener or possibly mold. Even the lint catcher had what looks like weeks of lint left in it (literally a 2 second clean up before delivering the appliance) Washer smells like it had laundry sitting in it for several days at one point. After spending an entire day cleaning the machines to a point we felt we could wash our clothes, we turned on the dryer and tried to put our kids to bed. Fortunately my wife realized that, despite the timer being set, the dryer wasn't turning off after a couple hours, before our clothes got completely ruined or caught fire. Everything I've seen from this company indicates an emphasis on getting through as many transactions as possible, little attention to detail, and very low standards. I don't expect a pristine machine when it's coming used, but it doesn't take more than a little effort to ensure that used appliances are cleaned and properly vetted. read more

When our dishwasher started leaking, we called Whirlpool Canada thinking that the manufacturer would send a knowledgeable and trained technician. - Nope! It was the total opposite: Platinum Appliance! (I wish I had checked Yelp at that point.) When the repairman arrived, he was very nice and pleasant, and after taking a a quick look at our dishwasher, said that we needed to call a plumber. We had a plumber come a few days later and he confirmed that the problem was with the dishwasher, not the pipes. After paying the plumber $500 (since he was already charging us for the service call, we had him do some plumbing maintenance work) we called Whirlpool Canada again and they scheduled the same repairman to come back. In the meantime, I did some research online and concluded that our dishwasher's water inlet valve needed to be replaced. When the incompetent (although very nice and friendly) Platinum Appliance "repair"man arrived for the second time, he agreed with my diagnosis and said that he could order the replacement part, but it would cost more than $100 and would take about 3 weeks to arrive, so he recommended buying a new dishwasher instead. He was kind enough not to charge us for this advice (insert eye roll). Luckily, I found an amazing appliance repairman, with dozens of 5-star reviews. I contacted him, described the problem, and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. When the repairman arrived he had the replacement part with him! I was in shock! He had picked it up on his way to our house and he had our dishwasher fixed within 45 minutes. - Now that's what I call Platinum service. read more

The 'customer service' provided by Platnium Appliances does not deserve to be called customer service. They were supposed to service our warranty defective Kitchen Aid range, ordered the part, and then we were told that we had to wait until their technician returned from holiday. We asked them to expedite it, and the service manager stated they would try to get the part from their technician before his 'vacation' and follow-up. They did not contact us for two weeks. Lastly, when they do make an appointment for the servicing appointment, they call you the day of the time THEY want to come out. They don't ask you when it's convenient for you, or even give you choices. You simply get a call around 8:00 in the morning of the day they plan to come out. Had a great experience... We had a front loader washer we inherited from the previous owners of our home that never worked and was on the fritz constantly. Norm and Lenny set us up with a top loader for $275 that came with a 3 month warranty. Unfortunately we had a problem with the timing switch on the warrantied machine... They came and fixed it right away, honoring their warranty no problem. Here's hoping that nothing else will go wrong with our machine... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They have the WORST customer service! We bought a GE washer/dryer combo from Best Buy and it had a problem from the first moment we tried to use it. We called GE because it was under warranty and the initial repair guy said it was a small part that needed changing and he would order the part then schedule to come by to fix it. He is the ONLY repair guy working for the company in that area. The repair guy is impossible to work with because he said he would call at the end of the day to schedule an appointment, then he would call after 7pm and say he would be there for the next morning. I'm sorry, but how can someone reschedule their whole work day at 8pm at night for the next day? He would constantly do this and would never give at least 24 hrs notice. When the part came in the repair guy NEVER called us to tell us this. Instead we had to call repeatedly to try to get ahold of him. After a month of playing this game we called Platinum Appliance again to complain only to be told by the girl that the repair guy had returned the part to the office and they were waiting to return the part to the manufacturer!! When we weren't informed the part was even in once! We told the girl at Platinum that NO we were waiting for this and re-scheduled for the repair guy to come out in a week. The girl confirmed that the repair guy would call us the night before to schedule a 2 hr window he would show up. The night prior to the appointment came and no phone call from the repair guy. We called the morning of the appointment to see if we could confirm a time only to be told that there was no service call scheduled and the part was returned and the call closed!!! Platinum Appliance has atrocious service and we will be returning our machine and asking for full refund. I will NEVER EVER use Platinum Appliance again and will be complaining to GE and Best Buy about the use of this company as well. This whole order for one small part has wasted over 2 months of our time and we had to scramble to take time off of work (and lost wages) for a service that never happened. read more

DONT DO IT!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. The "certified" whirlpool tech was nice enough, but sadly did not seems to know his product thoroughly. We went with his recommendation to replace the part (all in with labor $400+) but 3 days after 2nd service call, still not working. On third visit, tech said he needed to call another tech for advice. Did not boost my confidence, but sometimes we all need a little back up. Turns out $300 part was not the problem, was something else. Suggested fix? A piece of duct tape! Which worked. We were so frustrated we just went with that. Money spent, no point in complaining, we let it go. However, the second problem, fixed at the same time, was also not working properly and we wanted some follow up to see if it could be rectified - especially since the primary problem had been over diagnosed and we had paid for way more than was required. After all, they offer 90 day warranty on parts and 30 days on labour....that seems decent, right? And this is where everything went seriously wrong. Worst service manager - Dale - I have ever spoken to. I called and was advised to speak with Dale, the service manager. I left a msg asking for him to call me back, but received nothing. Two more calls over the next five days resulted in the same - nothing. But finally a week later, some success. Though I thought it was not a good sign that I was screened by the receptionist about WHO was calling and then told she would "see if he was in" (??). I wondered if Dale had a lot of calls to evade. Dale's demeanor was incredibly rude, abrupt, argumentative and defensive. He completely failed to listen, instead interrupting me to challenged my comments, would not let finish a sentence, was incredibly immature and seemed he had zero interest in helping me with my problem. I suggested that maybe I should speak to someone else, but he told me he was the boss, and there was no one above him. Finally when I said that I was not comfortable with his aggressive and angry manner and that it seemed like he could not help me, he accused me of being the aggressor and hung up on me. Overall, under qualified tech who tried hard but seemed to not really know his stuff, certainly did not come across as an "expert". But the real problem seems to stem from the owner (?) of this business (Dale) who did not stand behind his service, was incredibly rude, immature and unwilling to take corrective actions to rectify the situation. HORRIFIC SERVICE!! Quick update: shortly after writing this, Dale called me to inform that the tech would be coming back out to try and rectify the problem. Dale offered no apology for his rudeness or poor customer service skills, he remained abrupt and self righteous. I dealt directly with the tech and the problem was resolved. My overall recommendation is to just go somewhere else. I can't imagine how desperate one would have to be to call Platinum Appliance Service. This clown-show was recommended (indeed, arranged) by Trail Appliance for service of the blower for my 15-month old range hood: the left-side fan of the twin-fan assembly was making noise. Trail told me that Platinum was the licensed Whirlpool service company in the area. When I scheduled the appointment, I gave them the symptoms, turned on the blower so they could hear the noise over the phone, and advised them that the blower was out-of-warranty. They scheduled an appointment. The day of the appointment, they called to say they were too busy; and they rescheduled. The service tech arrived on the second date. When I turned on the blower, he asked: "What's wrong?" "The fan is making horrible noise." "Yes, I can hear it. What is causing it?" Funny, but I thought it was his job to diagnose. Seemingly not. He advised that the entire unit would have to be replaced and spent the remainder of his 15 minutes at my house calling to find a replacement. He quoted the cost of the new unit at $764, plus $240 (2 hours) of labour to install; in addition, he told me that the present service call would cost $120, payable immediately. After showing him to the door and deciding that this could not possibly be a $1,000 problem, I removed and inspected the blower myself. The problem was immediately apparent: the compression fitting attaching the fan cage to the motor shaft had come loose. I tightened the nut, reinstalled the blower, and everything works fine. The repair took me approximately the same time as Platinum Appliance Service's do-nothing "service call": 20 minutes. This company does not deserve to be in business. read more

We contacted Platinum for dryer repair. The technician, Spencer came in the first time late. 2nd time, he returned for belt replacement and he was late again. He seemed in a hurry and rush to finish replacing the belt. He turned on the dryer for less than 10 seconds for testing, and informed every thing was in order. After he left, we found that the air vent connecting pipe had been damaged. Weird noise was coming from the dryer when we did a load of laundry the next day. We called to ask him to come back to check. He refused and asked us to send a video with audio to him. We sent video to him and talked to him, he was very defensive and insisted to charge us for another service call if he came back to check. We contacted Platinum office to reveal the situation. The staff in administration office was very polite. She contacted Spencer for us for him to come back to check to ensure the dryer is in good worker order. Spencer said that he would call us on Monday morning to schedule to come back, but we have never heard from him! Very irresponsible and bad service from Spencer! read more
