We've used Platinum Bites for catering 2-3 times with little to no issues (they forgot the guac last time, I said nothing and we tipped very well), but our recent experience was terrible. We scheduled tacos for a 5pm serving time and by 4pm, I had no update. Jonathan claimed his assistant called me multiple times and decided I didn't need them. This was untrue and extremely stressful as I had paid a deposit and had guests waiting. Jonathan offered to come within an hour, but it was too late, so we canceled. He promised a full refund, but by 9pm, I still hadn't received it and he stopped responding. I'm very disappointed in how this was handled. Miscommunications happen, but I never received any calls or messages, and I should have received my money back immediately. This review is to help others avoid a similar issue. *update Jonathan so your little saying is to justify that we should not have offered you repeat business over the years?? I spoke to you last at 4:44pm yesterday when you said you would refund me. By the time it was 9pm I text you asking why you hadn't sent it. The 9am texts shown are from this morning, clearly you have little to no attention to detail. The payment is through Venmo you could have easily processed it as quickly as I processed sending it to you. I sent the request on my own at 9pm since you had never sent from earlier like you promised. You're shady and the way you handled this entire situation right down to your response speaks volumes on your character. Do not insinuate I am not a good person. I don't have the time to write reviews, however I do feel it is the right thing to do so when someone in business does not conduct themselves professionally or respectfully to a potential customer. BE AWARE I read Jonathan's other reviews, saw the negatives but felt it could have been a one off or maybe miscommunication. Now I understand they were right and I should have avoided Jonathan. I used yelp to reach out to 4 different in home chef services to put on a dinner for my wife and I for our 3 year wedding anniversary. We have two kids under two years old so going out to a nice dinner just wouldn't be possible for us. Jonathan was one that I chatted with on yelp. He gave me a quote for a 4 course dinner. I had to ask him a couple times to make sure that the price included him as the chef coming to prepare the dinner, was good included, etc? He asked to talk on the phone to discuss, so I gave him my number and he called me. Over the phone he explained that the quote included everything except alcohol and gratuity. He then walked me through his menu idea for the 4 courses, talked about what he is doing right now based on the season. All 4 courses sounded great and I agreed to do it. He asked for my email address and said he would email me the menu and details shortly. He never emailed me, so I text him the next day if he could email me over the menu and details. He just text me back the 4 course menu, all of which was different than what we discussed and a significant downgrade of a menu over what we talked about on the phone. I asked him to do the original menu options we discussed and he told me he would up-charge me $25 for lobster bisque, even though he offered that to me over the phone and said nothing about an additional charge. Again over the phone he said only potential up-charge is when someone asks to add a lobster tail to the dinner. I questioned this and then he became very rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. See texts... I then lost my chef for my anniversary dinner after telling my wife I had set something up special for us. There should be repercussions for this kind of business owner. We had a wonderful flavorful experience! I wish there was more I could have done to show my appreciation for the chef as well as the gentleman that came with him. I could taste all the spices he used in all of his dishes. Even the thyme he added to the strawberry appatizer was so fresh and wonderful in every bite. I was so pleased with the homemade birthday cake! He remembered all my favorite ingredients. Chocolate, cardamom and pistachio yumm. I noted that the pistachios were roasted and salted which gave it that extra special bite. His attention to detail was amazing and even had my picky guests eating foods they otherwise wouldn't! I was really hoping my experience with Chef Jonathan would be as pleasant as all of the other Yelp reviews. Hiring Platinum Bite Catering was the biggest mistake of my event. I inquired with Chef Jonathan to man the grill station at my event. It was a simple request. We needed him to grill the entree portion of my BBQ event for approximately 2 hours during the day. Initially he was quick to reply and very responsive to my inquiries. We came to a verbal agreement and I submitted my deposit a month in advance. That's where the positive experience ended. I never received a written contract or outline of what the services I paid for were. This was very unprofessional to me. The day of the event Chef Jonathan didn't even show up! He sent someone else and didn't even have the common courtesy to inform me. The "Chef" he sent was clearly less experienced as all my high quality expensive meats were over cooked and over done. After weeks of back and forth Chef Jonathan didn't cover my event. This was shady and unethical behavior for a business. If you're going to hire Platinum Bite make sure you receive everything in writing and don't go off his word. He's not trust worthy and his word isn't something you can rely on. read more

Chef Jonathan is amazing! I LOVED his food on Christmas Eve for our outdoor ceremony. Every item was pre-packaged to keep everyone safe! Every item was made deliciously including the appetizers, main course, sides, and desserts! The guests loved the surprise dessert boxes, so much so there weren't any left for myself as the bride and the groom when we were done tearing down and cleaning up Jonathan and his sister Wendy even took the extra step of taking the charcuterie board we were going to have displayed and wrapping it up so that we could take it home and enjoy it for Christmas instead :) I am BEYOND in love with the food, when we finally sat down to eat at 4pm, the food was delicious! And I know if was even more quickly consumed it would have been even more amazing! He was such a fun guy to have be our cook and waiter and was super professional, courteous, and friendly. Even when my husband asked if he can replace his steak menu options for a wagyu steak that isn't part of his menu, he complied. The best food I have ever had! Fresh and delicious! My boyfriend had a steak, I had a vegetarian chicken dish. Started with Appetizers-hummus and pita bread and a ravioli appetizer. We had a delicious fresh salad. The main dish and dessert. It was his birthday so they baked him a cake which had lavender whip cream and berries. Overall a great experience!
