I dropped items off to sell here at 12 noon. Came back at 5 on the dot and they wouldn't take the time to pay me out. They basically told me to pound sand. Ridiculous. I'm a regular customer here, coming at least once a week since they opened. Simply put, I won't be giving them my business anymore. The lady who came to the door was rude and put out that I even asked to be paid out for my items. She just pointed at the closed sign with a "tough sh**, I got places to be" look on her face. I took my stuff here a few times. Today is the 4th and last. I drop a clear bin of brand name purses and a bunch of brand new shorts with tags attached. Drop off about 10 am. They called about noon and said my stuff is ready. I stop by and the girl told me.. they even go through my stuff because of an "Oder". (I am insulted!) I am a very clean germs phobia.. so I was cautious and considerate when bringing my stuff in. I spray the container with lysol before I place my items. Wth is a fresh scents on linen lysol spray? She was so dramatic.!!! This place and their staff is an insult! I will never return again.! So don't waste your time clearing out your fancy items, they only take generic kids stuff! And do keep in mind... they DON'T like clean items!!! read more

This Plato's Closet is the best Plato's I've ever been too! They are not judgemental and are open to different genres of clothing not just one specific style. The staff was really polite and held the door open for me when I was bringing in my items. They know how to strike up a conversation. One tip I recommend for customers is if they are bringing in their clothes to sell bring them in bulk and in a presentable way. By that I mean bins no plastic bags, and have the clothes folded. A lot of the reviews down here are unfair. We drove all the way from Modesto and they made time to accommodate us. We appreciate all the help. read more

First time coming in to this location here in Vacaville. I was pretty excited knowing they just opened recently and is only ten minutes from where I live. They had some nice things but aside from that I wasn't too happy with the customer service. I walked in and there were 2 girls at the counter that just looked at me. I find that pretty rude. Especially since after I hear them greet everyone else that came in after me. While in the store not one worker asked me if I needed help or anything. I've worked in retail most of my life and it just boggles my mind how you could walk in a store and people ignore you! I don't plan on coming back. I'm not gonna support a store where I feel the workers do terrible customer service and don't make you feel welcome. Would rather go to another Platos Closet in another city! read more

Edit/ response. I've assisted in opening multiple stores and I know it can be rough going and that it takes awhile for hiccups to be ironed out. That said, the hiccups of opening a new store shouldn't include writing off the fact that your employees are careless A-holes. read more

1/5 I went in and saw my ex, worst experience ever. Everything reminds me of her:( Plato's is the place where painful memories are relived. You can see it in all the used clothes and thrown out shoes, treated just like she treated me. Going into plato's was like going into a 7/11 bathroom, wasn't much to expect but a guaranteed big pile of shit. Ended up having to wait in the fitting rooms for 15 min while said pile of shit enjoyed tormenting my heart yet again via proximity. Even just being under the same roof again with her again made the place smell of old perfume and backstabbing betrayal. Never going into Plato's again, she'll already be waiting there. read more

Well I visited this establishment , took item 5 bags name brands , The young lady offered me the first price and I said yes we can do it and then she changed her mind when she seen another piece of paper so it's a little sketchy to me and then told me she didn't call me back about my items because they do have my phone number it just was really an unpleasant customer service experience I would think that they would do better because it's going to be a high-end namebrand store it's just a sketchy to me but to each his own I just wasn't happy with the service and what they tried to offer me and change the prices at the last minute read more

My friend was accused of stealing by a woman from the back room and when asked, my friend proved the woman wrong and she did not even try to say sorry about the false accusations, she really didn't even look sorry about the whole thing. I understand the perspective of a business owner to prevent theft but she did not have to be so rude about it, after she was proved wrong she went back to her back room leaving my friend shocked about what just happened. All in all, very bad customer service :( read more

I have been a customer for a very long time. Each time I come by I'm always met with the most disgusting attitudes from employees. Seems like they get paid to chit chat and gossip! How dare a customer ask for assistance and interrupt their gossip sessions. EVERY single time I come. I sell and buy clothes here. I've overheard an employee going through my clothes once and making comments about the style of clothing. I don't know who hires these people but by looking at all the other reviews maybe they need to reconsider their staff. read more

In March before Plato's was open for buying I saw the ads on Facebook saying they were open for selling, so I gathered a couple items that I had listed on Mercari (a selling app) and took to the store to see if it were worth going to over listing online, shipping, fees, etc. It's not and let me tell you why. When I dropped my bag of items off, I dropped off probably closer to 15 garments, including two pairs of black/red, single strap block heels- very on trend still, both were brand new. The staff at the time was explained that they would give a call back when an offer was ready, which happened to be the next day. I came the next day and the girl that was closing out my offer explained that they decided to not buy about half the items I brought in because they were off trend, which was totally fine. She laid out what they were returning back to me, and what they wanted to buy, my two pairs of heels were not part of the lot so I had asked about them.. considering I would think they would want to buy them since they are very much on trend. She looked around for a bit, and said she had remembered seeing them.. eventually the manager, Carmen, had came over to try to resolve the problem. Carmen had offered to make it right and buy them for what I had listed them for on my selling app, but I had explained that I would rather take them back with me because I would make more money off of selling them myself. Since they were a brand new store, I wanted to give them the opportunity to try and find them so they could just return them instead of paying out of pocket. I've worked over 7 years of customer service myself and know it can be difficult but Carmen was very accommodating. The whole ordeal lasted over a month, several calls back and forth, I was very patient with letting them find them or settle a resolution- they never found them and ended up giving me the cash for them... Now PROS- Carmen handled it really well at the time, she was apologetic and fair, but it shouldn't have taken that long. CONS- I thought it was really sketchy that my heels were even split off from the rest of my items to begin with if they weren't interested in buying them? I'm not going to add further comment or speculation to that, but anyone could probably come to their own conclusion... Now fast forward almost a year.. I've shopped at Plato's SEVERAL time since it's been open. It's great, I can usually leave with either one, two items, or an armful or two of clothes. There's a lot of variety. Some items you can definitely look at and wonder "alright now who would even walk out with this?" but for the most part there's something for everyone. Things are priced very fairly.. drawbacks of the store itself is that it is messy, disorganized, and you can RELY on the staff being very rude or standoffish- which I will boil down to them hiring exclusively high school kids... Anyways, I thought I'd try and sell a couple more items again since my coworker and I have talked about the store a couple times recently and she has always had a positive experience with selling. I brought in a bag with about 10 items, couple pairs of denim shorts. It's about three weeks later and I never got a call back. I just tried to dm the Instagram, but work takes up the most of my week and I don't have the time to dispute this with the manager and waste two months tracking my stuff down. I gave them a lot of patience and grace the first time around, giving them the benefit of doubt that they needed to work out some kinks as a new business- but clearly they are just letting staff walk out with clothes, just throw them up on racks and start selling them for pure profit, or are just consistent with losing seller's clothes. TLDR; Definitely worth a walk through, there are very cute items and steals in there. DO NOT sell to Plato's unless you aren't concerned if they will just keep all your stuff and sell it for profit. Might as well take it to Goodwill at that point. read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars, brought in tons of nice clothes including guess and other brands all cleaned and washed and they denied everything for "smell". I will not be using a specific cleaner just because you don't like the smell of mine. Workers were very rude and childish. Would not recommend to anyone buying or selling. Even found some clothes missing from bag when returned even though they didn't buy anything. Don't go unless you want clothes stolen as well. 0/10. read more

Racist people yt people you already know. They judge us as soon as we walked in. My friend wanted to sell her clothes and they told us to wait for 45 mins. We were still in the store for like 10mins and they called us so were like ok might as well go up to the counter. When we head up to the counter they acted like they didn't even remember us but we were the only POC in the store. When we talked to the person they gave us our bag back like not even going thru it and I know they didn't because I know how the bag was laid out. The first time I came here to sell / buy they bought almost everything I had. Gave me 98.00. Second time I came back the next day to sell but forgot my license . The manager argued with me about how I needed my is to pick up the money but I just showed her when I dropped off my clothes hours earlier. Fast forward three weeks later. I bring in shoes, jackets, free people shirts, Levi's, sandals , leather and jean jackets,Carlos Santana snake skin boots , l very expensive leopard boots and shirts in style etc etc . They wouldn't allow me to show them a copy of my valid license because it wasn't the hard copy. I lost it one of my Gucci wallets and I been carrying a copy I had from a new job I got that I had to provide just in case I get pulled over. The manager wouldn't let me sell anything saying no I needed the hard copy. Ridiculous! Even the bank accepted it and the drug screen dr I had to go to today for my new job ! So I send my daughter in with everything. A hour later she goes back and they bought four things! I got 20 bucks! They did not buy even the ripped Levi's or Free People shirts! They knew it was my stuff and refused even my daughter who had a hard copy of her license. Not only will I never step foot in there again but I'm sharing this review on my Facebook which I have 5000 friends plus followers . Nice going Manager. Very bad customer service . I brought a bunch or designer barely worn clothing to sell. They took 2 pairs of H&M jeans some babydoll shorts from Shien And a pair of converse. When I asked them why they didn't take the Adias running shorts, Mother jeans, Levi jeans, Zara jean skirt etc. they tried to tell me they were stretched out!!! Ha! The reason I am getting rid of things is because I have hundreds of barely worn/new clothing that I don't even wear! Do not patronize this place...they are a joke! read more

I will NEVER come back here. I brought shoes and some heels among other things and they were all in separate bins when I dropped them off. The ones they were interested in they tossed in a bin all together. And others they didn't want they smushed together in my single bins. My brand new shoes I haven't worn now have dents and are misshaped on the toe bed. EXTREMELY disrespectful. If you don't want them or do do that's fine but don't mess up my items in the process. For 15 items they wanted to give less than $110. And ONE pair of the shoes alone costs that much used. I don't expect to get rich but don't take me to the damn cleaners. The issue I have is the lack of respect for peoples belongings. With sneakers and heels all that matters. Now I have to mark down several pairs of my unworn shoes on eBay to sell them. The store is always clean and organised especially with the amount of items for sale. It would be nice to have a little more space between aisles but having more options to choose from makes up for lack of elbow room. Yearly strip down of my closet and thought I would give this place a try. I had two bag fulls of Lularoe clothes, two pairs of boots and three evening gowns. Only one pair of boots were purchased. After lugging in and lugging back the bags, I noticed that the store was comprised of teen clothes. I had called prior to dropping off the clothes if they took Lularoe and women's clothing. To which they confirmed, "we take all types of clothing". Don't waste your time taking your clothes in for them to turn their nose up at them. I'll get much more return from my own yard sale. Honestly the concept of the store is nice that they are being sustainable and at an extent. I mean they are using hundreds of throw away papers a day along with breakable hangers and they aren't exactly a small local business. It does suck that the employees always look stressed and overworked. The young kids are always super nice and welcoming, but the older lady was a bit rude to me. It kind of seems like their store isn't really run in a organized manner, and i guess that comes with time. I think this store would do better if they had a system? it seems like everyone is running all over the place and it's just a stressful location to shop in. Before I begin I would like to say that I was a regular customer at Plato's closet, I would often shop there before any real issues started to pop up. First things first, around this year I would often come in dressed down and not in my best clothes (baggy shirt, PJ pants, crocs, etc.) and for some reason the workers would stare me down as I went shopping. I can't say I can confirm this but I heavily felt as though they were trying to make sure I wasn't stealing anything. Then today, I was shopping with my friends when I picked up the new croc charms and put them back. A worker then rudely approached me and accused me of stealing a charm and it wasn't until I emptied the out my entire wallet (which she thought I put the charm in) that she believed that I didn't steal it. If she had apologized to ME it would've been fine but she looked to MY FRIEND and apologized to HER for the inconvenience. Honestly I can't say that I want to ever come back to this place, I hope Plato's closet gets better and I can come back without feeling judged. read more

the employees were so rude! i went in to donate some clothes and they said it would take about an hour. i live about 45 minutes away from the store so i found things to do and came back a little over an hour later. the girl who originally helped me literally threw her hand up at me and went "can we help you?!" we were very polite they had no reason to be rude. another guy working came over and tried to explain to me that since i didn't get a phone call they weren't ready. obviously i understand that, i was just checking seeing as i wanted to start heading home. he pointed to about 5 bins and, of course, with an attitude said "yeahhh we just have a lotttt to get through." however, when i walked in the door they were all just standing around talking and laughing, no where near said bins. i understand that my clothes weren't their top priority, and they had other things to do, but it was simply the worst customer service i have ever seen in my life. read more

When Platos Closet first opened to buy clothing they weren't super picky and I felt like they gave a reasonable pay out. Now that they have been open for a few months and people are allowed to shop I feel like not only have they gotten pickier about the clothing they take but the payouts aren't even worth taking clothes to them anymore. For example, I took in a bathing suit top from Tilly's (orig. $35) and a cowgirl hat (orig $50) and they offered a $3 payout. I feel like they need to be better educated on the pricing of certain brands or items and maybe update the system they use to price clothing to buy from people. I underhand the age group and crowd of people that may be shopping there have a certain style of clothing they prefer but a person in their 20's, like myself (24), that does not dress like them has a harder time selling and buying clothing from them. I like a good deal and would like to shop second hand whenever possible but the clothing selection isn't much to my own taste because of the age range of the employees that are buying the clothing for the store. The 90's and early 2000's already happened and I would prefer not to wear low rise jeans, crop tops and platform shoes. I'm not sure if maybe they need a different age range of employees, better training, or to maybe ask the customers personally what they would like to see in store. It would be nice to not only profit a little larger amount from the store when I sell but to also have a better selection when shopping that fits my taste. read more
