My sister and I love shopping at this platos location. They always have something good and very reasonable prices. Lots of online shops, brandy, free people, urban etc. We've also sold clothes too. I'd always heard great things about Plato's Closet and was excited to buy some things, however, when I came into this location with a friend on Thursday and was SEVERELY disappointed in the service that we received. My friend was wanting to exchange her clothes for money and while they did buy quite a few items from her, the two girls (tall brunette and short blonde) behind the counter made rude remarks and laughed at the clothing items that they didn't want to buy as we were standing RIGHT THERE. The two stars given is only for the selection that they had, because they actually had some pretty cute clothing items... however I refused to give them any more of our time and money than we already had given and walked out. Still my go-to for 95% of my clothes! Nothing has changed: the employees are so nice (and I love to overhear how well they get along with each other), the prices are PERFECT, and the clothes are so cute and trendy. I get all of my favorite brands here and can always count on them to be transparent about any flaws or sold as-is items. If there is a flaw that they don't know about, they'll often discount it for you. My only feedback would be I wish they'd have a bigger selection of mediums and larges (including plus sizes). I am right around a M/L and can still find plenty of items, but my sisters who are XS/S can go and find double what I can because they have double the selection. read more

I'm so sad to be writing this review as I have loved this location in the past but after my experience today I am extremely disappointed. I originally came into this location to sell a bunch of new clothes and shoes I was clearing out of my closet. Please keep in mind when reading this These items were all new or new with tags. Free People, Lululemon, Adidas, $300 retro iridescent rollerskates, and so many other great items! I was immediately greeted by a younger lady, she was extremely rude and gave off the vibes that she hated her job! I was in shock, I didn't know someone could be so nasty. I didn't think much of it and still went with the buying process as I really needed to clear all this stuff out....I walked around the store, and two minutes later I got a text stating "my buy was ready" it honestly felt like she didn't even look at the stuff I brought in because she was to busy gossiping with the other girls working! After looking around I went up to the counter to see what they had taken and what they had passed on. You think that they would want brand new with tag lululemon, adidas in the box, gymshark etc....MOST NEW WITH TAGS!! NOPE! They took nothing....why? "Because they aren't in style" Weird right! You would think with all of the other non branded branded items they take that they would at least have taken something from my stuff... I just don't understand what you guys want us to bring in because from what I'm looking at, it's older style and used items! Anyways....I said "ok that's odd, but thank you" grabbed my stuff and left.... As I was leaving, the girl started to laugh and whispered under her breath I was a stuck up B****! This place I heard just opened and while the girl helping me sell sounded lackluster and annoyed they did take a decent amount and I was satisfied. Also they don't have lockers or anything and while I understand the reasoning behind not wanting purses in the dressing room but do I really have to just leave it sitting on the bench outside of it? They certainly aren't taking liability if anything is stolen. "don't bring a purse"? Carry my wallet phone keys and cigarettes in hand? I shouldn't really have to figure out how tf to do that and browse racks at the same time.. I went into sell a bunch of items. All in near perfect condition, a lot still had the tags on it, some designer names. Out of the 19 items I brought in, they said would only take 3. An Andrew Marc men's bomber jacket, a pair of NYDJ capris (both had the tags on) and a Banana Republic shirt. The jacket and the capris would cost $190 in the store. They offered me $17.50 for those 3 items and said everything else was "too professional" and I should try somewhere else. They ignored some Calvin Klein items (again with tags attached), Kate Spade blouse, a Lily Pulitzer dress. I didn't exactly expect top dollar selling at a thrift store, but this was just a joke. Needless to say, I declined their "offer". If you're planning on selling stuff there, don't take dresses (dressy or casual), skirts, dress pants or blouses. read more

This is by far the best second hand shop in the chandler/tempe area. They are always well stocked with good, clean, quality items of all different size ranges and have a pretty good men's section too. I have never left empty handed, I genuinely believe most of the items in my closet are purchased from this location. The employees are always so kind and helpful, i've never had a bad experience with them even when it's busy and they're in a rush. I follow their instagram as well, they post updates on new items and sales almost everyday and I have claimed a few great items through there as well! 10/10, by far my favorite clothing shop in the valley :) read more

Don't waste your time attempting to sell your clothes here. I had a giant box of clothes with brand from urban outfitters, American Eagle, more and they didn't take a single item. On top of that their "system was broken" so they had no way to reach me when it was done being sorted? She told me to come back in 30 minutes, I came back in 30 minutes walked around the store hovering around and waiting for them to let me know when it was done, only to patiently go to the register after 45 mins and find out it was done the whole time. It's one thing for them not to take my clothes, that is totally up to them but to show poor customer service and not let me know when they're done looking at my clothing is just disrespectful. read more

Super impressed not only is this store organized, fair price, friendly staff. I have been to three l Plato's closet in AZ, one has sinve closed. The associates and owner grreted each guest that walked in the door. The staff checked on me while I was browsing. The store atmosphere was comfortable. This was the absolute worst Plato's Closet I have ever been to. I've sold clothes to different PC's in different cities and in different states and this one in particular not only tried to low ball me with giving me less than $20 for 7 quality pieces of clothing (out of a 50 item bag) but then on top of that, lied and said my clothes were stained and had holes in them and could not pick out which clothes had the stains and holes when I asked. When I went to see what they were going to buy, I noticed more than half my bag had not even been unfolded. I would never go back. read more

Overall I think the service is nice and simple when you come in and try to sell your clothes. They are friendly and nice when you come in so I do like that about my experience. But the only bad thing I have to say is, that the two times I have come in they claimed my clothes smelled like smoke, but no one in my family smokes there's nothing in my house that could make it smell like smoke at least from what I know. I understand if none of my clothes are what they are looking for and if that was the case then I wouldn't be as hurt knowing I've washed those clothes twice and wasted my time cleaning clothes that supposedly "smell" like smoke. The only thing I smell after I got my clothes was the store itself. I just would rather have them telll me none of my clothes were a fit, than me wasting time on washing clothes if they just smell after being cleaned. That's really my only negative experience I want to review about cause I don't know if it's a me thing and it totally could be but I guess I'm just more confused. Don't bother trying to sell your clothes here. I came in with two large bins filled with American eagle, Target, and other brands that teen girls would most definitely buy! They accept pieces that make no sense.. A quick glance around the store and you will see they are stuck with an abundance of old, out of style, and FADED clothing. Only one girl that had a slight sense of customer service, the girl who gave my my clothes back couldn't even tell me why they didn't take my items. Stumbled over her words, changed why they weren't taken multiple times. As a retail manager, a suggestion would be to get rid of the clothes that aren't selling, so you are able to purchase from people who know what's trendy. I guarantee you with fall and winter coming up, people will be looking for long dresses, jeans etc. It is better to donate them anyway, no more Plato's for me! read more

I was so excited that a new location was opening right by my house. I went in with a big box of clothes. I had some Men's clothes on top and a bunch of VS and Lulu Leggings on bottom. They said it'd take 20 mins to look through everything and as I was walking back to my car I got a text saying order ready. I was super confused because it was a big box. When I went back in a blonde girl was basically whispering saying we can't take these because it's outdated? She wouldn't even look me in the eye, didn't say thank you or give me a explanation! I looked in the box and it wasn't even moved past the men's clothes. They didn't even try to look through everything. I had a bunch of good stuff clean and in style. The Platos in Scottsdale always accepts my items. So I guess I'm gonna commute. I won't be returning! This also happened to my roommate. && her clothes are super cute! read more

Hello! We love your store for my XS/Small teen daughter. Prices are fair. Store is clean, staff is friendly. Styles are up to date. There's always a lot of clothes in her size. My only complaint is every time we are here I sweat through my shirt! And I'm not the only one. I've talked to other moms holding clothes for their kids, and we are all dying from the temp. My daughter who wears her masks religiously even though fully vaxxed even took hers down today because of how much sweat was on her face. It's not like it's super sweltering in here, but it's enough to be uncomfortable. This won't deter us from coming any bit, but maybe bump the temp down a few degrees. This place deserves 0 stars they were the rudest I've ever been treated at a store. Absolutely ridiculous w the attitude they gave me. I was in line waiting and a lady went behind me in line and the next person was called up to check out which was me and the worker says "she was definitely in front of you she's been waiting in line for 10 minutes" in THE rudest tone when what she was saying was false and when I was trying to sign my receipt the pen wasn't working and I told the worker and she said "it definitely does it's just the counter" I can't believe how rude they are to their clients. Waste of time lugging all your stuff in just to lug it all back out. I understand the whole process of their operation & I get that they can't take everything from everyone but it's quite ridiculous what they are willing to take and not willing to take. Let alone the "pay out" is completely not worth taking your items there. The only items they took were ones with tags still on them, and then only give you about an eighth (if you're lucky) of what they're actually worth. The good karma you'll receive from donating your items to someone in need will be 100 times better than what they'll give you. They can't take items do to "general wear" of them (but let's just remember they're a USED clothing store) I am someone who normally wears things maybe 2-3 times if that, so I'm not too sure that's the issue. I get the whole "getting any cash is better than none" but you'll waste your time & end up more annoyed than you'll feel rewarded ! read more

So I have already sold clothes here. It was a great experience. The girls were great & I've always had amazing experiences with shopping at plato's and also being a big social media person with the girls who work there, the management and owner or whoever is always in whatever store I shop at. Plato's has always seemed to be very friendly & welcoming as not only a store but just genuinely nice people, which is obviously nice cause I always shop there in what city I live in. I love posting when I buy their clothes both with the Albuquerque store and also three stores in SoCal. Recently I tried to reach out on social media after they posted about looking for people for hire as I was also originally told by the owner they were hiring about two weeks ago. So I request her online to speak about the job possibilities, she denied it. Okay, totally understand. Personal page. So then then the Instagram page posts about hiring I reply about the job opportunity and then the page blocks me? That's extremely professional. Smh. I was planning to go spend some money tomorrow morning at the grand opening but I won't be anymore. Strange way to start buisness. I came in to shop today (10/27) around 3 o'clock and I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the workers. The store was very quiet so I could hear her talking the whole time I was shopping and she was talking poorly about customers that were coming in and out of the store and even her fellow coworkers that weren't working the shift. She said she hated working shifts with one of the girls and only had negative things to say. She had green in her hair.
