I have had my fair share of shopping at Plato's in New Mexico as well as Arizona. I have been to two of the other previous Plato's in Scottsdale & Phoenix. They were not friendly in which I was thrilled to hear Callie I believe her name was. The owner was opening up her own in Tempe, super close to where I live. We chatted a few times about New Mexico the first week of opening. I stopped in almost everyday when it first opened because I was so excited to see the new clothing, shoes and handbags. About a month later after it opened I got super busy with everything else in my life and I wasn't in for awhile until today. I was excited seeing the cute photos on Instagram but was not thrilled with one particular staff member. As well as other previous guests leaving reviews. I was not to fond of one girl her name was Regina I believe. She was very rude to myself and my mother. My mother was asking another employee a question about the handbags and she cut the girl off and answered it herself sarcastically. I was a bit caught off guard that was not the reaction I normally get from your employees. Maybe someone was having a bad day? I give everyone the benefit of the doubt I understand we ALL have bad days but we have to keep it together especially in the retail industry. We then kept shopping around I ended up finding two bags I loved I ended up checking out with RJ (what was on my receipt). I believe, very tall. She was very nice and sweet she even answered my questions if y'all were looking for MK bags. I have a few to try to sell. That is my reason for my 3 limited star review. Good clothes. Prices are good for things that everyone might not wear. Levi jean shorts priced low. But AE jeans were priced to high for second hand. Staff was shit. They all kept looking at me standing by the fitting rooms with clothes in my hand. 5 minutes later I walked over to them while they were just standing there talking and asked for a fitting room. If you're plus size, don't waste your time. I brought an entire bin of clean and barely worn clothing and they only took the two smallest size items. Ridiculous. All the girls working the counter had terrible customer service as well, all of them looked and acted miserable. I will never be back. read more

Very sweet staff. Yes, not for about two more weeks will they be open to sell stuff to us, which is disappointing, but they do say that on their social media and windows. You can also see it from reviews and if you call them. I was in Tempe around 8:30 and they still accepted my brother's clothes! Very nice of them, because they were closing very soon and we had a ton. The staff at the front talked to us about when they were opening, what clothes they would accept, how to get them to accept the clothes they did not accept that day, etc. They were very nice to us while we were there and they got us out of there very fast and took almost all of our clothes! Took items to sell here the other day and was welcomed in a very friendly and happy manner! The girls talked and smiled at my 1 year old son which he loved. They gave me a reasonable offer and were great at explaining why they didn't take some items. I used to work for a Plato's and this was by far the best experience i've had at any of them! read more

Awesome location!!! Ladies buying my stuff were so sweet and respectful. They took a lot because they just opened! They aren't selling anything yet because they just opened up and are taking as much as they can. They are opening mid august hopefully. definitely recommend coming in!! read more

Just went in to this store for the first time since it opened, I had brought clothes in before it opened and couldn't wait to come try it!! I was BLOWN AWAY by how clean and festive the store was as well as how kind and efficient the workers were! First let me say, I usually have good experiences at this specific location. However, lately the employees have been quite rude and dismissive. They're too immersed in their own conversations to engage with the customers. The girl, Katie, just rushed me through my transaction without asking me for my phone number for points. Also- as a past Plato's employee at a different location, it's a bummer to see this location's prices being increased but not paying the seller the correct amount. So many items with * next to the price means the employees went in and increased the price, but still only paying the seller the original amount. When I see a price tag for $20*, then I see the seller got $2.90 it doesn't add up. Shady practices. I know sometimes they have to reprint a tag and that will also show a *. Pay your sellers the amount you originally were going to sell the item for- not increase your sale amount and offering the seller pennies. They also have a bad habit of talking poorly about sellers/buys if the items aren't good- we can hear you and no need to bash someone because their items weren't good. read more

I waited two hours for them to look through my clothes only to give me two dollars for a skirt and shorts. Do not go here they forgot to text me when it was ready even though I went an hour after and they said nothing to me. Plato's closet Tempe does not like taking plus size clothing they say they want plus size clothing they ask you to bring plus size clothing but when you do it's a bunch of size 2 girls that are passing On all the plus size clothing, coming up with lame excuses on why they can't take the clothing that is in great condition , popular items , on trend item pieces that every girl wants, Levi cut off shorts , perfect for everyday summer in az , yet they make excuses and do not take them because they are plus size , it's really sad to see how discriminative they are against plus size read more
