    Small peanut butter cup sundae
    Richard P.

We stopped for a treat last Saturday evening as we were driving by. My wife and I split the small peanut butter cup Sunday with whipped cream and a cherry. It was loaded with peanut butter and nuts and we both enjoyed it very much. There are seats inside and outside. This is a good place to stop on a summer evening.

My husband and I stopped for a sundae which was delicious...we had a small peanut cup sundae which was the perfect size to share. A really nice place for an ice cream treat...will definitely return!!!

    Plastic sucked out of straw

$9 for a milkshake full of plastic. This is 3 of 5 pieces of little plastic sucked through my straw. Disgusting

Literally a pint of ice cream for a medium.

The small ice cream comes in a pint container. The medium comes in a quart container. I was not brave enough to try the large, but suspect it may just come in a 5 gallon bucket! Lol Regular Perry's ice cream, but SO many flavor choices, as well as creative sundaes, milkshakes, and more. They only had outdoor window service when I visited, but it looks like a nice place. The folks working were very sweet and patient when it took me a full 5 minutes to find a flavor combo (because people who are able to choose 1 out of all of those are just weird). Great little place and worth a try!

Hubby and I passed Oh Sugar on Mother's Day and turned around to check it out! It's a cute ice cream shop you can drive up to and order or go inside when the Pause order is lifted. The menu is huge. I ordered a small snickerdoodle sundae and added hot fudge to it. I would say there was 1 (homemade) snickerdoodle cookie in the sundae, leaving a lot of plain jane vanilla soft serve. I would recommend adding some cinnamon or nutmeg to the sundae to help carry the snickerdoodle taste throughout the sundae. Hubby ordered a large peanut butter cup sundae with spanish peanuts added. It was good. We will def be back to try some cupcakes (when they have them) and some other desserts they offer.

We made our first visit and it won't be our last! The staff was kind and welcoming. Our desserts were delicious and there was so much to choose from including 30 flavors of custard!!!! We ordered three desserts and it was $11! It's cute on the inside and adorable on the outside with a few seats to choose from. We had an ice cream tailgate to further distance ourselves and ate while we watched the sunset.

They had six flavors: sangria - fruity, wine; honey whiskey - topped with a Biscoff; piña colada - not pictured because I skipped that one; mojito - lime and rum; black forest - chocolate cupcake with boozy cherry; peanut butter whiskey - also a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Presentation and toppings were all really lovely and looked delicious. Super creative concept all around. Most of the cupcakes were yellow or white cake, the rum, whiskey, and wine were noticeable but not strong. So you knew they were there, but not overwhelmed. Some people might actually want them to be stronger! The flavors in general were subtle but clear. The frostings were all pretty light and pleasant, which is nice. I know there's a lot of people who really like dense buttercream and cream cheese frostings and for whom cupcakes are a frosting delivery vehicle. These are not those. Plenty of rich and delicious frosting for the cupcake but not too much. The cupcakes are not following the super sized trend; they're a nice cupcake sized cupcake. This makes it easy to rationalize eating two at a time because, um, you wanted to compare flavors. Yep, that's totally why. I liked all the flavors I tried, but was surprised that my favorite was the chocolate peanut butter and my second favorite was the mojito. Only comments would be there's some variability as to the moistness or dryness of the cake part, and the filled ones could use more filling. The people at the pop-up (I forgot to ask if they were the bakers/ owners) are really nice and happy to answer any questions or customize an order. As you can tell by my substituting an extra black forest for the piña colada. They'll be back at the Broadway Market for Dyngus Day!

When I lived in Montreal, my go-to cupcake place (and probably my overall favourite cupcake shop) was D'Liche, which sadly didn't make it through the covid quarantine. In London, I enjoyed Chick Cake Boss and when I came to Hamilton, I went to Bitten. However, none quite lived up to D'Liche, or even the Cupcake Shoppe...until Beyond the Batter. One bite and I deemed it my new favourite cupcake place. I had been drooling over the flavour list for probably a week now and finally convinced my brother to go grab some. We ended up with an assortment of flavours that not only sound delicious but look lovely. Work fast though because my brother got to the shop about 2.5 hours after they opened and a few flavours were already sold out. He got home with the cupcakes while my sister was on a work call. We are impatient though so we decided to try a cupcake anyways and just grabbed the one we knew she'd have no interest in - Macaroon, a coconut cake cupcake topped with chocolate frosting rolled in toasted coconut. We split it and both fell in love at first bite. My brother is not a frosting fan so for him cupcakes are all about the cake and he has been raving about how light and fluffy, yet flavourful the cake was all afternoon. As for me, I love frosting and cake and the flavours were just so spot on and rich that I was happy. Often frosting/icing can be end up tasting like icing sugar above all else but that wasn't the case here at all. When my sister got off her call, we went in for a second - Men are from Mars, a chocolate cupcake topped with malt frosting dipped in a chocolate shell with a caramel centre. It sounds like a lot but once again they nailed each flavour and they all worked together so well. I normally avoid chocolate cakes but this one was delicious and I'd definitely recommend. In fact, I'd recommended everything I've tried thus far and I'm sure that opinion isn't about to change.
