Oh my ICE CREAM GOODNESS!!! Route 20 Ice Cream made these two brothers oh so happy!!! My brother wanted "custard" so I yelped and found Route 20 was minutes away. Pulling in you can't help but smile at the attractive store front that looks like an old fashioned gas station. They offer an incredible assortment of Perry's Ice Cream (local deliciousness for you out of towners) but my brother wanted custard so he went with chocolate and since it's the season I chose pumpkin spice. Nicely priced and the initial tastes were yummy ,. service by the way was excellent. But then we saw it ... the train caboose with signage that said come on over and eat inside. It was a trip back in time soooooo cool and fun!! Old issues of the Buffalo News and Popular Mechanics. You were pulled back in time and were waiting for the train to start moving. We hung out for some time just enjoy a journey back in time leading to reminiscing about when we were boys. So much fun and adventure all for the cost of a really good ice cream cone!!

This spot has a lot of variety - SO MANY FLAVOR OPTIONS. I love that they have a mini blizzard size, brownie batter is my go to. New this year, they have stuffed waffle cones, which is a soft serve of your choice with a tunnel down the middle filled up with your favorite sauce. My kids love the variety of dips they have. The woman who cashed us out highly recommended the coconut dip. Parking is plentiful and they have a handful of picnic tables to sit at outside. Bonus: Come on opening day for a free kiddie cone (hard or soft serve). Usually they open on March 1st, but may be delayed slightly if weather isn't great. This year, they opened on March 5th. (Check their social media for more details).

My new favorite ice cream spot. Super top quality custard and they have sooo many options for everyone. They serve both custard and Perry's hard ice cream. They have many different dip flavors and toppings for sundaes. Today I just went basic with a vanilla cone and rainbow sprinkles and it was perfect on a hot, Buffalo summer day!

    Awesome setup!

This ice cream place is amazing! So many options from Milkshakes, sundaes, soft serve, hard ice cream, sandwiches, etc. Prices are a little high, but I'm willing to pay it because they always have new, interesting flavors that I've never seen anywhere else. They even have a Quaker ice cream which was speciality created to celebrate Orchard Park high school. How cool is that?!?! So let's talk about the scenery and the decor because this place has it all. There is an awesome garage/antique museum in the back that you can look at free of charge. My favorite part is the old commercials they play on the tv in the back. They also have an old caboose railcar that you can go in and explore! It's excellent for the whole family! Highly recommended.

What an adorable ice cream place this is! This is an ice cream stand. They have lots of outdoor seating that is covid-19 friendly; picnic tables, a caboose in the back with nice comfy chairs set up in a circle, and a few wooden porch swings. Their menu is probably the biggest I've ever seen, with Perrys hard ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, their version of Blizzard's, milkshakes, smoothies, dip 'n dots... Service was quick and the staff were nice. I ordered a pretzel sundae with caramel sauce, hot fudge sauce, and peanut butter sauce! I feel like the options are endless at this place. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy an ice cream treat with some friends!

Deep sea treasure, let's dough buffalo, and hot caramel sauce sundae yum yum!

I just love this place and I've been loads of times. I'm shocked I hadn't reviewed them yet. They've got loads Perry's Ice cream flavors here, way more than anywhere else I've ever been and they've got great prices to match. The place itself is great 50's style with the old time music playing. They've got a train car to sit in and eat your ice cream and chairs, a swing, and a neat old garage out back with more seating and loads of antiques to look at. They're also dog friendly and offer doggy ice cream sundaes as well! Great place for a treat, I've been loads of times and will return many more!

    Dipped in love.

I live for ice cream. So when I drive by an ice cream place that I have not yet been too, I stop, no questions asked. I pulled into Route 20 Ice Cream on Sunday pretty excited to try some ice cream and check out the old train car and shed that was full of stuff in the back. The first thing I really noticed when I stepped out of the car was that they had those swining benches outside.....and let me tell you, I LOVE SWINGING BENCHES! The place was pretty busy so there was a little wait but once I finally ordered the joy set in. This place has all the classics like sundaes, milkshakes, melts, and all that other good stuff. I decided to order a 2 scoop cone (the ice cream here is Perry's which I personally love) of the Buffalo flavour and one of mint-ting-a-ling which are my 2 personal favourites, oh, and by the way, IT WAS DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE. The ice cream itself was fantastic and cured my craving. I loved being able to sit in the swing and rock back and fourth (even though I had to do all the work because my girlfriend is short). The train car set up in the back offers some inside seating while the little shack on the left of it is full of vintage antiques and collectibles. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stop and get some ice cream in Orchard Park. Does this place compare to places like Lake Effect? No, but as a stand alone shop that offers Perry's and other treats, it does a great job. I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

Ive driven by this place many of times when going to Lancaster to the movie theater. I know this place is good because the line is long during hot summer days. This place is great. The ice cream is wonderful and tons of choices on their wall. Prices are great too and not overly expensive for what you get.. It is a restored retro style gas station with only outdoor seating so come during a nice spring/summer/fall day. There are old Texaco gas pumps and a couple of old cars out front. In the back of the property there was a small building filled with roadside/transportation memorabilia. They also have a train seating car that you can go in and sit and enjoy your ice cream. Over all great place, tons of parking and easy access on Route 20. Not hard to find and all. I will be back here when they are open again for the season and enjoy some ice cream.

It's also fun to wander around eyeing all the candies and chocolates... excellent gift ideas. On this visit, my daughter and I split a large Arctic swirl with brownies pieces and swapped the vanilla custard for eggnog. Best decision I've made all season, no regrets! The only tiny downside: the signs. So. Many. Signs. Rules everywhere--no ice cream in the chocolate area, carry a basket so nothing melts or breaks, no glass outside, clean your trays, etc. I get it (I, too, am a bit of a control freak), but it does start to feel like ice cream comes with a user manual. That said, clearly they've been burned before... or maybe I just recognize my own people. Either way, worth it for the custard alone. And make sure you plan to go right home. This way, you can buy some of their hard ice cream to keep in your freezer.

The quality is incredible and the mix-ins are so generous, no skimping here. This round we tried the Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella and the Oreo Brownie Cake. I'll be honest, I've been putting off ordering a few pints because I didn't want to make the effort/time for picking it up. Thanks to a dear friend, a fellow Yelp Elite, I've FINALLY had the opportunity to try some pints, and holy smokes, Living the Cream is phenomenal! Note that in to order flavors, you'll want to follow "livingthecream_" on Instagram, "living_the_cream_" on Facebook, which showcases any new flavors being crafted and hosts the link to place your order. I tried two flavors: Oreo Brownie Smash and Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella. Oreo Brownie Smash is Oreo cookie ice cream with brownie batter swirls, Oreo cookies & cream cookie dough, and half-baked brownies and Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella is spiced eggnog ice cream infused with Jim Beam and Platter's dark orange chocolate stracciatella. Just. WOW! Absolutely no complaints, each was bursting with flavor and packed with so many mix-ins. I loved finding huge Oreo cookies & cream cookie dough chunks and just how chocolatey Oreo Brownie Smash was thanks to all the brownie bits swirled in. The Orangey Eggnog Stracciatella had the creamy, comforting flavor of eggnog with a nice nip of Jim Beam that let you know it was there but never overpowering. The crunchy bits of the dark orange chocolate stracciatella cut through all the creaminess, only elevating the ice cream overall. Opening both pints, I was super impressed how jam-packed they were - It took a bit of effort to get the lids off, the pint was on the cusp of overflowing! So I didn't order these pints so I can't give you the most accurate pricing info, but after trying a couple flavors, I'm happy to order a few pints myself without thinking too much about the cost. I'm really glad Living the Cream is out here, churning up amazing ice cream flavors for Buffalo! As a few other Yelp reviews mention, make a little room in your freezer and treat yo'self to a couple pints of some of the creamiest, mix-in full ice cream you'll ever have!

It's frozen regular, dry, and condensed milk with some saffron, cardamon, pistachios, and a little bit of rose water. I know it sounds a little strange, but it was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. The rose water isn't overpowering, and I enjoyed the new flavor.
