I tried to work a sale by buying an Orlimar putter (39 bucks) giving them my 20 dollar credit , the clubs I brought in and and 9 dollars. He said no because golf clubs aren't selling. This store owner drove to my residence and picked up a Cross-Trainer by Teeter. The owner, Greg, and worker, Blake, helped remove the unit by taking off the bedroom door (and reattaching the door when completing the move!). The appointment timing was worked out and extreme care was exhibited when moving the equipment. We are senior citizens and did not have any idea how to sell and remove this unit. We are overly appreciative of the way this transaction was handled and cannot say enough good things about this store including Greg and Blake !! read more

Went in to look around. Found a boogie board that had 2 price tags. One was $6 and one was $22. I went to the counter to ask about it and the employee got a really embarrassed look on his face and had to tell me the $6 sticker was from Goodwill and he would remove it. So, basically caught them buying crap from Goodwill and almost quadrupling the price. How embarrassing for them. Throughout the course of any sport season I try to make play it again sports as part of our rotation. Typically we are looking for some new/used equipment to complement any of the family's active sports. We usually look online or at the major brand stores but we've learned that coming here we can also find new equipment and used equipment at a reasonable price. All the stuff that comes in can be seasonal so if you think ahead he may be able to really take advantage of some good markdowns. Usually we can find new shoes at the same competitive prices as going to any of the other major brand stores. Trading in items is reasonably easy as it gives you an opportunity to upgrade. In our case slight size changes as young kids continue to grow. Overall the selection of items from baseball, golf tennis, sports equipment and much more is really good and it allows you to take a vantage without investing $$$. Staff is knowledgeable and know the baseball rules and changes for all the valley leagues. They are helpful and not pushy salesmen encouraging u to over purchase. read more

This business is a sham. Went in a week ago to sell a baseball bat and cleats. During the process the employee told us that we would get $18. In the process of selling we found baseball pants they might work for my son. Asked the employee what the return policy was, as my son was not there. He said bring them back unused and you get a full refund. Well went into today and tried to return the pants, was offered store credit, that had to be used by the end of the year because the business is being sold. Told the manager that I don't need anything else this year and he advised that I buy $18 worth of baseballs. So in the end the business got an nice tee ball bat and cleats for free. read more

So I've been looking for dumbbells and live in Tucson I recently got two used dumbbells from the Tucson location for $1.29/lb but they didn't have all the dumbbells I wanted but that's fine--they just sell what they have So I was in Tempe for the day and stopped to get coffee. When I got out of the car I realized Play it Again Sports was a few hundred feet from where I parked. I stopped by and they had the dumbbells I was looking for and only $1.00/lb--sweet price. I bought them. So here's where I'm being petty with my review-- In Tucson, even though they charged more, the guy goes, "Let me carry one of those out to your car for you", which was nice because they were 60 lb and that's no fun to carry two of them one hundred feet or so But in this location, in Tempe, no one was in the store and the two guys at the counter were more interested in carrying on their conversation with each other to even offer to help me carry them out I should've asked them to carry them out but let it go They were only 45 lb dumbbells but still--make the offer, guys. I guess I looked pretty strong! (Ha--I don't). Anyway, the price was awesome and I'll probably change this review to five stars if I get around to it. I'm still sore from carrying out those dumbbells. (Not really). read more

Prior experience at another Play It Again location brought me here due to its excellent prices and customer service. This location has a very good selection of baseball mitts both new and used, as well as a ton of other products. prices were ok; not as good as I remembered. Customer service on the floor was good (checked on me twice while I was trying on mitts) Gentleman at the check stand could have been more pleasant. "Alright" is not a proper or polite response when a customer says thank you. Overall, I found what I needed and at a good enough price. read more

Play it again sports is a real good second hand store with great prices on all types of workout/sports equipment. I was in for some used golf items and even though I didn't get anything (left handed golfer, enough said) staff was very friendly as both the younger gentleman assisted me. I even asked one of the guys if he would sell me just a golf bag strap off one of the bags and he's was friendly in telling me no and explained why. Both guys asked everyone if they needed help and I appreciated seeing them offer. I can't wait to come back check out more used items. read more

How this place is in still in business I'll never know. I brought a few high-end golf clubs and a staff golf bag in for trade in. The person stated he would give me 5 dollars (yes $5.00) for the bag and 50 for the two clubs. The latest Ebay sold history shows 150.00 for the bag and 150 for the two clubs. I left vowing never to step back into the store for any reason. The bag sold on Craigslist 2 days later for 175.00 and the clubs were sold for 150.00. I am thankful I didn't do business with these clowns and you probably shouldnt either unless you want .00001% of the real value of your items--- sad. read more

It's been ages since I went into a Play It Again Sports. The last time I ventured in, I was looking for figure skates. I opted instead to buy them new elsewhere. This time, I went in hoping to get five bucks or more for a pair of kids' soccer cleats (in black with pink stripes) that were used two times... barely. My kiddo was more interested in her cute uniform and butterflies flying through the field. When she could focus, she had an awesome kick. Alas, I raised more of a performer than an athlete. We were offered $2. Wow. I'm better off donating these pristine cleats to an underprivileged kid who appreciates their aesthetic value. :) Other than the low ball on the cleats, the store had awesome deals on golf clubs. They also had new USC Trojans hats on sale for $1.99 (Marsella M would have a fit... or at least run down there to buy two for everyone she knew. 8D). I didn't really see anything else that interested me in the store, except perhaps a balance disc that an employee was using. If he'd have stepped off it so I could check the price, he may have had a sale. Oh well. Anyway, this store isn't terrible. It also isn't as nice as some of the other PIAS locations I have seen. read more

The staff is always very helpful and friendly. The selection is as good as can be expected and we love to just stop by and look anytime we are in the area. Went here, found Model 900 ia and bought it, brand new and assembled for about 60% of retail. They loaded it in my vehicle. It fits in my home gym. Already feeling better. I was in the store for 20 minutes and no one acknowledged I was there. No "hello" when I came in, and no one asked if I needed help. I was the only customer in the store and there were 4 employees! The only thing any of them said to me was the total cost for my stuff and then "sign here." Two of the employees were watching the game on TV and the other two were having a personal conversation while they were ringing up my stuff. The only reason that I gave it a star was because it was the least amount that i could give and I feel that the Manager's customer service certainly deserved at least one star. Upon my arrival, I noticed 3 men working behind the counter that were talking to a customer before he walked out. I was looking for certain items and didn't know where to start so i past by the counter a few times before asking. Not 1 of the men greeted me or even asked me if i needed any help. After asking for help, the Manager or the one whom i assume is the Mgr, showed me to what i was looking for. After a few minutes of perusing, Mr. ever so helpful Mgr. double checked to make sure that my shopping experience was up to par. I don't care about being treated like a V.I.P., but I at least expect to be acknowledged as a person as well as prospective customer. I couldn't beat the prices so the only factor bringing me back are the deals. Wait a minute!!
