I came across this chain in Englewood and was blown away. I had the dragon berry and it was so good! So when I saw one in Edison, I dashed right in. Unfortunately the experience was not the same. The serving was stingy and the service was curt. I paid extra for an extra serving and had to haggle to get it. Perhaps it was the stingy hand preparing my bowl or the unsavory exchange but the bowl was much less tasty than I remembered. I won't be back to this location. read more

Former employees who was terminated due to false allegations that were not fully investigated and instead of asking or performing any disciplinary act I was accused and diminished via phone call. I was referred to as a thief and stealing store property which was 100% inaccurate. As a person of color , being accused as a thief and allowing these false allegations to escalate was beyond inappropriate. Now i'm going to shine my light on this corrupt corporation. Not only was food poisoning called in , broken blender wands has been found in smoothie bowls / smoothies and a customer did come back to report the object in her food that her kids were eating. Inside the wands has a foul odor due to the water not being able to drain properly and moisture begins to build up! I'm pretty sure there is rotten food inside the wand from using it on a daily basis and the manger is aware of them being broken but WILL NOT REPLACE THEM. Milk , fruit , peanut , almond butter is probably all stuck up there! Furthermore majority of the fruit is usually served once it has already been contaminated with mold especially the strawberries so please be sure to check before consumption. Our manger does no follow produce guidelines meaning she does not properly clean our produce , instead she saids " nobody follows that anyways ". Also for hand washing , they do not follow protocol either! Contaminated fruit with mold can cause allergic reactions and also a upset stomach so if you have experience any of this , please please please report and speak up ! Eat SAFE! read more

We were so excited when this Playa Bowls opened so close to home. We've come here 4 times since and each has been a great experience. The manager and staff all offer great customer service. The bowls themselves contain the freshest of fruits and offer generous portions. The layout and seating areas are very comfortable. This spot is definitely a great edition to the area! read more

I ordered from this store through DoorDash. The staff is unprofessional. If I could give it 0 stars I would I was missing an item and called about getting it I offered to pick it up as my order has already been delivered. I said I would remain in my car If someone could bring it out to me and leave it by my car. The girl on the phone told me no one would want to bring it out to me if I have Covid. How discriminated against should I feel it's not like I'm asking you to hand it to me. Leave it on the floor and I'll get it once you walk away. I mean I paid for it. I never received my item or a refund she said I would be getting before hanging up on me. I've called back since and now magically they're phones don't work! Nice spot for some refreshing and tasty acai bowls, smoothies, and coffees. It is very vibrant and had a boardwalk vibe. Service was quick and efficient. You can tell the employees take attention to detail in their orders. The employees are also respectful and helpful in helping you select what to order. There were not many people working however they were very swift and quick with their service. I did not have to wait long to order and receive my beverage. I ordered a Cold Brew Coffee and it was great. Not too overly sweet and had a rich and bold pumpkin flavor. They also had free stickers! Amazing spot for a lunch break when we need to get out of the office. For 10.00 I'm getting a loaded smoothie bowl vs. 1/2 off one for the same price as some spots I would go to. Love this place. So glad that I gave it a visit. Service was super friendly and fast. Ever since trying Playa Bowls I don't want to go back to Frutta Bowls anymore. Playa bowls tastes so fresh even the portion is bigger especially the base and the amount of fruit they give you/toppings. They definitely don't skim on the base or toppings like other places. I got a bowl from here today and when i moved a few strawberries around I found pieces of count, something I'm highly allergic to. I can't believe this, their customer service is great but that doesn't make up for the amount of times I've gotten and my friends gotten bowls and they have messed up. Love the interior of this place! It is such a nice environment to sit and enjoy a refreshing snack with your friends or family. My personal favorite is the dragonberry bowl, but i'm not a big fan of the granola. However, they don't charge you to sub the toppings, so i can get coconut flakes instead. The coconut flakes from here are better than other açaí bowl establishments, as the others are more processed and sugary. The prices aren't bad, and the staff is always friendly.
