Everything is consistent food-wise. It's always great at any location. Very clean too. The only thing that is annoying is the lack of efficiency between employees. I don't mind if they talk, it's none of my business but they stop to talk. Service is EXTREMELY slow. Went pretty late at night and got the Beach Bum bowl. I loved it so much! It had the perfect amount of sweetness from the base plus the toppings, and the base wasn't too solid or liquidy. I didn't know they were open till 11pm, but I appreciated it when I was craving a smoothie bowl at 10:30pm lol I ordered and got my bowl pretty quickly, and even though it was the end of the day it didn't feel like they were skimping on any of the toppings. The staff was patient with me as I scanned the very large menu for the perfect smoothie, I wanted something that would revitalize my day but not spoil my dinner that was only a couple of hours away. My smoothie was blended very quickly and the color was vibrant. We tend to eat with our eyes so I was ready to taste my beautiful smoothie with a swirl of peanut butter. I enjoyed this as a late lunch supplement and I felt like I was making a healthy choice by choosing Playa Bowl. Parking is easy in the back and convenient to the back entrance. I would recommend swapping a smoothie from Playa Bowl in to your late afternoon snacking during the week. read more

Sigh, this location left things to be desired but I love Playabowls so I come here alot. Tonight, I was eating and thought their granola pieces were harder than normal. After a couple bites, I got curious and spit out.... I found small cracked pieces of green plastic in my bowl. I'm guessing it's pieces of their spoon. Their spoon is biodegradable right? Because I'm pretty sure I swallowed some pieces. I'm embarrassed to admit I tried to eat another bite but another piece came out. After that, I finally chucked the bowl. Some staff can use training in providing good customer service. I went to the pick up window and the girl at the front just placed my bag at the front counter. Didn't say anything nor looked at me. She could have walked over and handed it to me like. I saw that as very rude. read more

pick up orders are always ready on time, bowls can be a little melty (i don't mind). my bag had no napkins and the amount of granola in my bowl was skimpy. they charged me a $0.50 "convenience fee" for a pickup order! staff are pretty pleasant & will fix mistakes. read more

Honestly was never the biggest fan of playa bowls but I have to admit that it grew on me. This location is in the heart of downtown Somerville so you will have to park somewhere and walk to it. I've been to a couple of Playa Bowls around Central NJ and the one in Somerville is always the slowest. I'm not really a huge fan of this playa bowls location. The staff is kind of slow and while there is a lot of employees, they mostly just gossip, and you can literally hear them, so it took awhile for my order to be taken and made, even though it was just me and someone else in the store. When I went up to order, the girl was kind of just taking her time asking me about my order, which was kind of annoying, and then I had to wait like 7-8 minutes for my bowl even though there were no orders ahead of me. If you asked me if I prefer Playa Bowls over Frutta Bowls, I would tell you YES! Reason being because I like the options, the taste, and the size (I feel like Playa Bowls always gives me more.) This location is spacious. Parking can be a hassle though because you're competing with all the other nearby stores and the residents in the apartments above the stores (Starbucks, Shoprite, etc.). Maybe I got really lucky with my visit in comparison to other reviews. I stopped by on a Monday evening at around 5:30pm. The store was empty and I saw two girls working. I placed my order, paid, and received my bowl all at once. Speedy service! I decided to make my own açaí bowl, which includes granola + 4 toppings. It was a good amount of the fruits I chose, but my bowl could've had more granola in it. Some people complained about it being too sweet. I'll admit, it is sweet, but that was the reason why I came. It was meant to be my dessert lol. So if you ask me if this is healthy, it probably isn't. So what didn't I like about this store? The music was blasting way too loud. I found it difficult to have a conversation without having to raise my voice. The bathroom was disgusting because the toilet was broken. Who knows how long it was sitting like that but I informed them about it. Hopefully they got someone to close it off and for someone to take care of it. read more

I come here for the food bc it's amazing and I love their bowls BUT the customer service is eh. It usually doesn't bother me because I understand what it's like working in food/customer service but my friend and I just felt like they didn't even want us there (we came way before closing time). This is one of my youngest daughters Favorite spots since they opened up in somerville location . Sorry no pic today she dug right in . The young girls here are so friendly and very helpful. They work as team to get those orders out quickly. Although the menu is a bit pricey in my book it's definitely a meal all by itself . The reason why this location is getting one star is because I was eating a bowl with my boyfriend and these two workers wearing playa bowls shirts and were working on computers with playa bowls stickers, started talking poorly about some of the other employees. Playa bowls in Somerville never disappoints. My go-to is the pura vida which has blueberries and strawberries on the top. The açaí base is thick and has just the right amount of sweetness. The granola stays crunchy and is delicious. You have the option to order ahead online and pay in store which is convenient if you don't want to pay with a card. They keep the order in the fridge for you so it is fresh when you get there. They have also added outdoor seating on the Main Street of Somerville for a place to eat the bowls. The staff is always super friendly and the store is immaculately clean. The bowls are pricey but worth it. read more

The bowls have a weird after- taste. I asked about additives and they said it was "all natural". Then I told them I had some specific allergies and the truth came out. It's not natural at all. Meh. Nothing too great. Marketed as "healthy" and "pure açaí" but you can tell there are SOOOO many added sugars in the açaí. They don't tell you the truth about the ingredients in the açaí I've heard from a couple people that have previously worked there and this confirmed it for me because it was literally super sweet. Granola is tasty, but again, you can taste the added sugars. Was grossed out watching the staff make the bowls too because they def had on dirty gloves and were rushing to make them. I also waited 15 minutes which was ridiculous since there were only 2 people ahead of me. Will not be returning. read more

Every time I go there I always feel like I'm "bothering" them. It's not just one employee, it's a couple of them that are just mean.
