I had a wonderful time for my birthday weekend at Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo. Normally, I do not necessarily associate the Florida Keys with the best beaches but I loved the little private beach here. The water was shallow and warm. We got to see fishes, nurse sharks, and starfish. They also have a nightly Eventide celebration where they light the s'mores fire pit and offer other family friendly activities. Also, the sunset was truly spectacular! The pool is very nice as well as the lobby. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design making it a truly upscale resort. The staff was very friendly. While not a terribly large resort by some standards. Everyone here at the property has been kind and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. The restaurants where we have eaten on the resort have all been excellent and we enjoyed every meal that we have had. There are some great amenities included when you stay and that includes fishing with bait on the pier with complementary poles and bait. There are also bonfires at night to make s'mores, and that is a hit with the kids. The rooms are very nice and ours had a walk out patio that could lead us outdoors to wander around the property as with most resorts. There's a very nice pool area with a hot tub with incredible views of the surrounding small islands and the rest of the keys and the ocean. The gym has very modern equipment and is very well lit and cleaned and has large glass windows that allow the runners on machines to look out over the pool. There's a kids club that my daughter enjoyed doing projects and seeing other children at the resort. The Playa Largo resort and spa also hosts weddings, as there was one the night after we checked in. Sunsets here, as you can imagine, are beautiful and are ideal for taking pictures after a beautiful event or just a wonderful day at the beach. Beyond the pool at the beach area, there are some floating platforms that you can lounge on or even jump off into the water Key Largo is one of those places that you can really unwind and relax on a vacation and this resort embodies all of that and more. If you choose to leave the resort and trek out for some sightseeing, there are plenty of restaurants local and also things to do that will satisfy either your shopping or your learning desires. read more

Absolutely beautiful place to stay in Key Largo! We really enjoyed our short time here and made the most of it! We borrowed fishing poles from the beach towel desk and fished the pier both days. They allow you to use the poles and give you bait. There's an abundance of fish out at the pier to catch and release. We saw sharks out there too, so be careful not to hook one of those big boys! I do have to mention there's a manager (long blonde haired - Russian young lady) that is a beach towel gatekeeper... you must get a card to obtain a beach towel and this card thing to get a towel makes no sense. If you have your wristband, you shouldn't need a "card"... she apparently yells at the towel guy saying they spend too much on missing towels, like really?! How about spending money on fixing the phone chargers in the rooms... all of ours were broken in room #2316 FYI... We will definitely return as the resort was beautiful if you don't need beach towels! Jean the bartender was great out at the beach bar... we met some fabulous couples while fishing, too! This property needs a little love and care. I stayed here last year for one night and remember really wanting to come back so we booked a trip for a few days. The first thing I did after checking in was go to the pool, its was about 85 degrees out so I needed a little cool down. The pool was about 90 degrees, no exaggeration, actually warmer than outside. Why? The beach was nice, half empty, but there was garbage in the shallow waters. I know this is more to blame on guests but it doesn't seem like the staff care enough to walk around and tidy up. The chairs had used towels on them, even though guests were long gone, the tables filled with empty cans, cups, and plates. Maybe the resort is understaffed? The next day we spent most of our time on the beach. I ordered a drink and it was absolutely terrible. It was suppose to be a slushy consistency, but it tasted like someone through a few ice cubes into a blender and mixed them with the drink for a few seconds. Every sip I took I was crunching on ice. Not pleasant. Didn't get any more drinks after that. At check in I was given a paper that said for watersports to text/call a number. Same information is provided on the website. I texted and called, no response, no text or call back to this day. As for our room, the bed was too soft and left me sore and not well rested. The shower wasn't great either, took a while to find a good balance between cold and hot, and the water pressure was not great. Also, I tried to call the front desk multiple times, either they take the phones off the hook so no one bothers them or my phone in the room didn't work because none of my calls went through. On my last day I wanted to spend a couple hours on the beach before heading out. The woman at the front desk asked me what time I wanted to check out, I requested 12 or 1pm. She asked for my room number and name. A couple minutes later after looking me up in the system she told me no, because of hotel occupancy. Such a bs answer because why did you have to look up my room, name, and ask me when I wanted to check out just to tell me the hotel was full? This hotel has been empty since the day we arrived but ok. Honestly overall stay here is a 2/5. Could've been worse I guess but they're charging enough for it to be a lot more impressive. I wouldn't come back after this experience and I wouldn't recommend. read more

We came to this resort and spa for a few days and I must say I was a bit disappointed. It is a gated resort. They have valet for a fee which is expected. The check-in process was lacking professionalism. We were in traffic for several hours before arriving. We finally arrived at 4 pm only to be told that our room is not ready. No idea how long it will take. We sat in lobby which had no cold water. There was NO welcome bottle of water at the desk. No water station indoors. They did have some burning hot cocoa so hot it was impossible to drink. We got to our room a hour and half after check in time after waiting so long our room which should have been a king room was a double. We got the bay view but our view was really over the pool which was noisy with loud music bright and early. The rooms smell like wet dirty rugs and vacuum. They keep the rooms super cold. This is was not the resort experience I expected. Kids are welcome here. read more

Beautiful location where you pay more than a premium for it. Outside of that it's not worth the big dollars they asked to be here. The rooms are aged, and not very nice. The front desk staff is very misinformed and not helpful at all. The only people were to shout out on those working around the bar area, they are always happy, and happy to see you. Our room wasn't ready till 5:30 PM on check-in day, no apologies just s we're busy. Check out we asked for an extra hour and they said no. We stayed for 6 days and I was honestly, happy to leave. Not a 4 star hotel by any means. The service is horrible (except for a few good people who take up everyone else's slack). If you ask them to fill up your water, they act like you've asked to move the sun. The food is premade and not fresh (guacamole from a can and "fresh squeezed OJ" that the staff admits is not fresh squeezed) and overpriced. The food is also not good. The management is irresponsible and fails to enforce basic safety measures. Small children are fishing on the dock without parents and doing cannonballs in the water next to manatees (even a baby one) which are protected species but no signs or enforcement of the rules. They don't care at all. The beach photos are deceiving. The whole property has a retaining wall and is built up to it so there is a very small shallow portion of water to swim in or use. read more

Playa Largo is the kind of place you plan to visit once and then accidentally keep coming back to mostly because of Helen. Our waitress was an absolute legend. Friendly, hilarious, lightning-fast, and somehow knew exactly what we wanted before we did. Is she psychic? Possibly. The food and drinks were on point, the vibe was beachy and fun, but Helen took the whole experience from "great night out" to "I'm telling everyone I know about this place." If you're lucky enough to get her as your server, buckle up you're in for top-tier service and a lot of laughs. 10/10 would return. 11/10 if Helen's working! read more

I looked all up and down key largo and decided this was the perfect location. First requirement is a location for the amazing sunsets in the keys. Second requirement is a big beach. Most of the beaches are private so walking on the beach is limited. Playa largo has a large beach area. When you arrive at the hotel you know it's high class. The entrance , lobby, and pool are breathtaking. The rooms are very nice. We had a king with pullout couch. Ground floor opened to a jungle path to the beach. Didn't really use it because the pool was on the other side. All three restaurants were amazing. Service was excellent. They had drinks on the beach at night and s'mores at the fire pit. All these added touches make it a high end hotel. Yes everything is expensive but they put all the effort out there to make you feel you getting your money's worth. Never had problem getting a seat at the pool or beach. Only negative is getting to the keys is getting difficult. Three issues: wildfires, construction and car accidents can block the only way to get in and out of the keys. We lucked out and only had an extra 1 hour drive, but some had 5-6 hour delay. Some boat with trailer flipped on the road with Construction and a wildfire. All three issue caused all north bound lanes to halt for hours. What makes it a resort and not just a hotel is all those extras available to the guests. floating couches in water off the beach. Service available everywhere. Multiple restaurants. Bike Rentals. Boat and kayak rentals. Cabana rentals at the pool. Just the extra amenities that you expect at a resort instead of a hotel. read more

Long time Marriot member and the first terrible experience I've had. Currently staying in a suite at Playa Largo and they seem severely under staffed. There is only 1 bartender at the large bar at the pool/beach, with like ~40 chairs, as well as servers bringing drinks to the hundreds of folks on the beach. The servers literally yelling at the bartender to hurry up while everyone at the bar is fighting for his attention. Time to get a drink ~40 minutes. At the front desk, they have 2 employees helping with lines of 10+ people waiting for help. All phone calls to guest services and the concierge are ignored, as they explained, because they are too busy. The restaurants are also too busy to pick up the phone, so after being on hold for 30 mins, we walked over to make a reservation. When we arrived for dinner, they had lost the reservation and told us we should have called...despite then admitting they aren't picking up the phone because its too busy. They told us they couldn't seat us or otherwise help us, and to go somewhere else for food. Which seemed rude and unnecessary. Overall, the staff seem really stressed and need some support. Come on Marriot, please hire a few folks to help run this beautiful property. read more

The rooms and grounds were well-maintained, and the resort offered plenty of included activities. We were provided with fishing poles and bait to try fishing, enjoyed a s'mores night by the fire pit, and found plenty of other activities during the day. The pool and hot tub area were very well kept, and the on-site restaurants were decent. One thing to note is that tips are included in the bill. Our room was clean, well-stocked, and the front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, the rooms were extremely cold, even with the AC turned off. This seems to be a common issue, as they offered us space heaters, which solved the problem. The only downside was the patio area--it was just okay, as there was leftover garbage from the previous guests, and housekeeping did not clean that space. Overall, it was a great resort with beautiful sunset views, helpful staff, and an enjoyable experience. read more

We had a pretty nice time at this hotel, but I was surprised at how the room rates really changed from day to day so I'd highly recommend staying during the weekdays and on the off peak days. The amenities are nice, we really enjoyed the pool and the beach. The one thing that brought down my rating was the food. It was very hit or miss. We had some food at the sandbar and it was extremely overpriced and almost INEDIBLE. We had ordered the truffle pizza And the crust was almost uncooked and had no flavor. Plus, it seemed like there was just some ricotta cheese, frozen, spinach, and chopped up mushroom strewn across it, no truffle flavor in sight. The Keylime pie was also way too sweet and had like a grainy taste. I will say the breakfast buffet was pretty decent for the price, but overall the food needs a major makeover and needs to be SO much better if you're going to sell yourself as high-end resort!! make plans to eat off the hotel site if you're going to be staying here, highly recommend Italian food company for example, amazing pizza. read more

I paid over $1k a night for a bay view and a got hardly a partial. Was told by the manager that they are all partials but they have a partial rate also (?). I told them I was not satisfied, they didn't seem to care. It's my wife and Is 30 wedding anniversary. Place is nice but extremely overpriced for what your get. Staff is amazing other than manager I spoke to who didn't seem to care. Update: upon check out, my wife tried to get us a discount and succeeded with a different manager who agreed that our room 1209 was not a "Bayview" and is labeled as a Tropical view. The staff checking us in lied to us and argued with me regarding this matter. They overbooked due to a wedding. Very unprofessional. I raised my rating from 2 starts to 3 due to the managers professionalism upon check out. It is a nice resort. Very pricey, questionable management. read more

The staff is fantastic. From the valets to the bartenders, all very friendly and personable. Room has been well serviced daily. It would be 5 stars but for the managerial dysfunction. The bartenders don't know basics (but do their best to make up for it), the events calendar and information sheets at check in are inaccurate. Wonderful place for sure. My mom and I stayed at Playa Largo for the third time last week and enjoyed the resort as much as we did during the first two stays. It is a beautiful property and staff are so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool area although would prefer one of the cabanas near the sand bar vs the poolside cabana we booked. Sam and Camilla at the pool were excellent servers, and Taylor was a great bartender! As we were celebrating my mom's birthday, she was able to ring the Eventide bell which was so fun!! We enjoyed room service one evening and food was delivered promptly and tasted as good as it would had we gone to the restaurant. We dined at Sol by the Sea night two and Martina were helpful in suggesting various dishes. Sugar and Ricardo always provided service with a smile at the valet/bellhop areas, even as we were pulling away! We will be back for sure. read more

My husband and just returned from a 3 night/4 day stay with Playa Largo Resort. I can't recommend this enough for an absolute amazing place. The grounds were beautiful and the staff as so nice and friendly. We added on a few extras for our stay with a sunset fire on the beach with wine and a charcuterie board. Then, an all day water cabana with a personal waiter that became a friend. A BIG "thank you" to Taylor for making our day great. We appreciate your hospitality and your conversations. Overall, yes! 1-Star Review: The Most Dangerous "Spa" Experience of My Life Avoid the Playa Largo Resort & Spa at all costs. I went in for a massage and instead walked out in an ambulance with a herniated disc. The masseuse claimed he "used to be a chiropractor in Cuba" and started twisting and manipulating my body in ways that had nothing to do with a normal massage. I genuinely thought I was being stretched -- until he twisted so hard that I felt something snap. My entire vacation was destroyed. I lost thousands of dollars, every activity we planned, and now I'm living with constant pain because of their employee's reckless actions. And the worst part? The hotel and their insurance company refuse to take ANY responsibility. They keep hiding behind a generic waiver as if that magically excuses them from injuring a guest. That waiver was for a massage, not for an unlicensed "chiropractor" to twist my spine until it herniated. Since the incident, the general manager and the insurance company have been completely ignoring my emails and calls. No apology. No follow-up. No concern. Nothing. Just silence and avoidance while I deal with a medical injury their spa caused. This place pretends to be a luxury resort, but the way they've handled this is beyond unprofessional -- it's disgraceful. If you value your health, your safety, and your peace of mind, stay far away from the Playa Largo Spa. A massage should NOT end with permanent injuries, lost vacation time, and a hotel that refuses to stand behind its own services. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. The shower was disgusting and looks like it had never been cleaned. We spent $1400 to stay for Easter weekend! I called the property early on Saturday morning and left a message for someone to call me back and no one ever did. when I arrived at back at night I asked them to look at the shower and they agreed it was unacceptable and it was not in good conditions. The decided to offer us free breakfast buffet . What a slap in the face after spending so much money. I will no longer be staying here and I will make sure Bakers is on the top of my hotel list moving forward. read more

This used to be a very nice place. This time our experience included moldy conditioner in the shower & a "managing director" who did not support their reports, didn't return calls & could have cared less about anyone's concerns. He actually stood on the beach, observed the large party & their bad behavior, then send his reports to deal with it...ineffectively I might add. For the last 2 days (6/13 & 6/14/2025) there has been a large (12-14) of people allowed to do what they want to the detriment of everyone else staying here. They played loud music from a floating cabana that impacted everyone. Many complained. Management did nothing. It disrupted the resorts peaceful Eventide ceremony, drove people off the beach & was impossible to escape. At night, it was allowed to move to the pool where they brought not only their music, but large bottles of alcohol. They played their music, yelled & partied well past 11:30, since there apparently are no pool hours. We paid a lot of money for an ocean view room and couldn't sleep due to the noise & music. When I went to the front desk at 11:30pm the 20 something food & beverage manager had no idea where security was & could get no help in reining them in. This place has no management & no security that would do anything for 2 days about the noise. I have no idea why they have security. They just watched the party too. Sad. It used to be a beautiful, peaceful place that everyone could enjoy. If you are looking to spend a lot of money and party all day & night with lots of loud music, this is your place. Otherwise, take your money & your vacation elsewhere. read more

Playa Largo Resort is very beautiful - abundant with palm trees, a gorgeous pool with overhang for a little shade, and right on the beach for easy access to the warm ocean. It's definitely ideal for a tranquil getaway. My wife and I enjoyed the most relaxing couples' massage ever, topped off with champagne in a peaceful lounge. The bar by the pool sports a very friendly staff that makes excellent drinks. I highly recommend ordering the tacos be it steak, fish, or shrimp. They are all wonderfully delicious. The rooms all seem the same (more on why I know about multiple rooms later) so the only reason your price will vary is because of the view. If you're not going to be in your room at all except to sleep, save yourself the money. Because my wife is a view person, so we paid for the view, and all those beautiful palm trees I mentioned are in the way, so it wasn't really worth it. The reason I'm familiar with so many rooms is factored by the downside of our experience - the staff. I want to preface that they are all very kind people, management included. No one was rude or annoyed with us when we had to keep coming back to them. But the reason we had to keep coming back to them was the service was always severely poor. When we checked in our reservation to our room with a view, they didn't have any. They were reserved out. Even though we made a reservation for this particular type of room. For those of you who've seen the Seinfeld episode where this happens to Jerry, you can picture our response. A reservation reserves a room so it's there when you arrive, not when it becomes available. Long story short, we were checked into a room right next to the front desk and gift shop that had trees leaning into the balcony, so we immediately declined. We were moved to a second room for the night, and were assured the room we reserved would be ready the next day. It was, and they told us they would move our luggage for us. We came to the room after a full day at the pool and our luggage was not there. We had to make a handful of calls for them to find it and bring it to the room. Had we known there would've been an issue we would've moved our bags ourselves. So there ya go - three rooms and all look identical. Our shower was not stocked with shampoo and conditioner, but hand soap and lotion. Another incident that required more than one phone call to rectify. This was our first time in the Keys, and I do believe we'd go back, and potentially stay at PLR again. It was a little crazy that the first 2 days of our trip required us to constantly call the front desk to fix this or that, but we still enjoyed ourselves. We loved the nearby restaurants. The pool and ocean are so relaxing. And the staff is super sweet regardless of what our experience was. I'm chalking it up to it was just a string of coincidences and it wouldn't happen again if we stayed. read more

Let me 1st start by saying, this resort was pretty underwhelming based on my expectations. Having stayed at many high end resorts all over the country, this one one was not what I expected for the price. My initial room was far from the main area and walking into the building (Reef Tower) was unimpressive, dingy, and not clean. As I stepped into the elevator we immediately noticed some sort of cream or oil on the metal trim. The floors were dirty and had an unpleasant smell. The doors to the room had black scuffs all over them as if they hadn't been touched up in a long time. The room was less the desirable. The chair along the beds was damaged and the stitching was coming out. The beds were old and uncomfortable. They had seen their day and I woke up every morning in back pain as did my teenager. They charge a daily $49 resort fee which is basically useless as it is for the pool, which is often crowded and dirty and a little beach with steps into the water. The over sized chessboard is broken and missing pieces. There are broken patio tiles that we almost tripped over all over. They have free no water sport things like Paddleboards and trikes that I saw. I appeared that everything water activity (aside from swimming) was extra.... The nickel and diming. Poolside drinks were $20 a pop. Wow. No other place charges that for drinks. If you do go in the pool, good luck trying f to find a few chairs for your family, not To mention, there always seemed to be a bunch of drunks in the pool making it less desirable for kids. The staff was generally friendly but service was slow in most cases because unlike any other resort I have ever been to, the staff are tipped up front with 20% and if you didn't want to pay the 20%, you could change it by writing in a different amount. That's ridiculous. On top of that, the food is average at best and to pay $110 for breakfast for 3 people is also ridiculous. I didn't pay that in Hawaii at the Hilton Resorts. Lastly, $25 per day for parking is another rip off. No place should charge for parking except valet. read more

Such a pretty place. It would be tempting to hang out at the pool and, oh....relax? But there is no escaping the too-loud and insipid pop music that's piped throughout the grounds. You have to go to the beach area--the only place it isn't blasting--and if you'd rather not deal with the sand, too bad. The rooms are quiet, but we felt like we had to hide out on the balcony so housekeeping could do its thing--and they didn't come until almost 5 pm--despite our request to the front desk. Too busy getting rooms ready for the new check-ins, I suppose. On the plus side, the food is good, the beds are good and the staff is mostly friendly and cheerful. Too bad the experience was marred by the music and the late housekeeping. At THIS price point, these should not be issues. read more

We have stayed at this resort twice, both times were exceptional. The service is good, great beach access and awesome live music. The fishing poles and swim mats are a hit. All of the staff are nice and hold gates open for you but one stood out to us. Sandra is so friendly and helpful, she's a hard worker who puts a lot of effort in to her day. She made our trip as she often made us feel special and even remembered our names each day. We will be back soon! read more

3.5/5 This resort is labeled as luxury, however I wouldn't use that word to describe it. Note this is a popular place for families and pets. It is busy often, which means waiting longer for food or accommodation. Nothing crazy. Waiters and bartenders were very timely. Location, hospitality, and room were great. Especially the staff. We asked to switch rooms due to a crying baby and they did with no issue. I booked a couples massage which my boyfriend couldn't show up to, so the front desk lady gave me a bit of a discount on my extra purchases. Also had some visitors which were accommodated nicely, aside from one ruder staff member who insisted they weren't allowed in the restaurants. Speaking of which, the food is the most disappointing thing about this place. Drinks are okay, but for the prices you're much better off having your meals off the resort. We witnessed a few people not happy with their meals. That aside the pizza and kids food are actually very tasty. read more

The negatives: Very expensive and what we got overall didn't match what we paid. Our room was right up against the wall of the bar and we heard loud music while we were trying to sleep. We had to make two requests for house keeping service after returning from a day out and seeing our room not serviced. We couldn't find any available lounge chairs when out at the pool. There wasn't anyone in the bar/beach area coming around to see if guests want something from the bar, which is something you would expect at this level of resort. read more

My wife and I checked in to Playa Largo on Monday afternoon. We were greeted with a warm reception and a pineapple drink, it was a good sign! Our room was cool, the bed was super comfortable, the shower had great pressure; it was everything we wanted. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is large. There are several restaurants serving fresh delights. We appreciate management at Playa Largo; requests were happily responded to in very positive, professional manner. So do not get me wrong, this resort is beautiful. However for it to be a Autograph Collection, I expected a bit more. The room was a bit more spacious than your typical hotel room. However besides that it was not much different than the Springhill that I'd previously stayed in. I mean down to the bathroom, it is almost identical. I do realize that the upcharge in price is probably due to the location but it is not giving that it is worth it. I do acknowledge that they do have a lot of amenities but you are also paying for those amenities in the resort fee. I will say that I highly enjoyed my morning bike rides. I did also get to enjoy breakfast and it was very good. It is a buffet style breakfast but I do not think it is worth $36/pp unless you plan to sit there and eat 5-6 omelets and plenty waffles and/or pancakes. Which speaking of pancakes, they were delicious. Definitely ask for the pancakes if you get the breakfast. The staff was phenomenal with the exception of a few. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I mean if you simply walk by they were speaking to you and going out of their way to assist you. I am not saying that I wouldn't come back but it would certainly be on a deal. read more

Not a luxury property although they charge like it is. Housekeeping is nonexistant, Dirty couch in the room, strong chemical smell trying to cover up some kind of odor, moldy showers, bathroom door to toilet wouldn't close, deadbolt lock didn't work on door, housekeeping didn't clean the moldy shower when they supposedly cleaned the room, didn't replace supplies including toilet paper and we had to chase them down in the hallway to get some. Balconies were dirty and had stuff splashed on the walls. No lounges available at the pool ever! Stayed 5 days for over $3400 and what a mistake. I've seen other reviews stating the same issues so it seems to be a recurring problem which this resort fails to address. Yet they keep on taking your money. Shame on Marriott. Staff was hit and miss. Some very friendly, others not at all and acted put out to get you anything. They charge a 20% service charge automatically on the bill which we luckily noticed by the 2nd time we paid (no one points this out to you). we made the mistake of tipping twice the first time. I think this allows staff to be lazy and not try too hard because they figure they'll get their tip no matter what. This resort could be so much better but surely is not delivering on the advertised "autograph luxury experience". read more
