Absolutely beautiful place to stay in Key Largo! We really enjoyed our short time here and made the most of it! We borrowed fishing poles from the beach towel desk and fished the pier both days. They allow you to use the poles and give you bait. There's an abundance of fish out at the pier to catch and release. We saw sharks out there too, so be careful not to hook one of those big boys! I do have to mention there's a manager (long blonde haired - Russian young lady) that is a beach towel gatekeeper... you must get a card to obtain a beach towel and this card thing to get a towel makes no sense. If you have your wristband, you shouldn't need a "card"... she apparently yells at the towel guy saying they spend too much on missing towels, like really?! How about spending money on fixing the phone chargers in the rooms... all of ours were broken in room #2316 FYI... We will definitely return as the resort was beautiful if you don't need beach towels! Jean the bartender was great out at the beach bar... we met some fabulous couples while fishing, too! Great atmosphere for adults.

We came to this resort and spa for a few days and I must say I was a bit disappointed. It is a gated resort. They have valet for a fee which is expected. The check-in process was lacking professionalism. We were in traffic for several hours before arriving. We finally arrived at 4 pm only to be told that our room is not ready. No idea how long it will take. We sat in lobby which had no cold water. There was NO welcome bottle of water at the desk. No water station indoors. They did have some burning hot cocoa so hot it was impossible to drink. We got to our room a hour and half after check in time after waiting so long our room which should have been a king room was a double. We got the bay view but our view was really over the pool which was noisy with loud music bright and early. The rooms smell like wet dirty rugs and vacuum. They keep the rooms super cold. This is was not the resort experience I expected. Kids are welcome here.

I looked all up and down key largo and decided this was the perfect location. First requirement is a location for the amazing sunsets in the keys. Second requirement is a big beach. Most of the beaches are private so walking on the beach is limited. Playa largo has a large beach area. When you arrive at the hotel you know it's high class. The entrance , lobby, and pool are breathtaking. The rooms are very nice. We had a king with pullout couch. Ground floor opened to a jungle path to the beach. Didn't really use it because the pool was on the other side. All three restaurants were amazing. Service was excellent. They had drinks on the beach at night and s'mores at the fire pit. All these added touches make it a high end hotel. Yes everything is expensive but they put all the effort out there to make you feel you getting your money's worth. Never had problem getting a seat at the pool or beach. Only negative is getting to the keys is getting difficult. Three issues: wildfires, construction and car accidents can block the only way to get in and out of the keys. We lucked out and only had an extra 1 hour drive, but some had 5-6 hour delay. Some boat with trailer flipped on the road with Construction and a wildfire. All three issue caused all north bound lanes to halt for hours. What makes it a resort and not just a hotel is all those extras available to the guests. floating couches in water off the beach. Service available everywhere. Multiple restaurants. Bike Rentals. Boat and kayak rentals. Cabana rentals at the pool. Just the extra amenities that you expect at a resort instead of a hotel.

I love this property. The location cant be beat. The pier with the provided rods and bait, the beach, the sunset theatrics ..... all beyond. We!seen manatees, sting rays, star fish, a nurse shark.... Its spectacular. I had some problems my last stay but the staff worked it out. We will be back

This is at night showing the pool and bar. I will take a pic in the daylight tomorrow.

I paid over $1k a night for a bay view and a got hardly a partial. Was told by the manager that they are all partials but they have a partial rate also (?). I told them I was not satisfied, they didn't seem to care. It's my wife and Is 30 wedding anniversary. Place is nice but extremely overpriced for what your get. Staff is amazing other than manager I spoke to who didn't seem to care. Update: upon check out, my wife tried to get us a discount and succeeded with a different manager who agreed that our room 1209 was not a "Bayview" and is labeled as a Tropical view. The staff checking us in lied to us and argued with me regarding this matter. They overbooked due to a wedding. Very unprofessional. I raised my rating from 2 starts to 3 due to the managers professionalism upon check out. It is a nice resort. Very pricey, questionable management.

We stayed here last week and it was wonderful! The staff, the grounds, the beach, the pool all amazing. The food is just meh but everything else made up for it. Took a kayak out and floated around with manatees which was super special. The blonde girl at Water Sports was an absolute doll! We stayed in a villa which was so nice! Super private with a well appointed kitchen and It even came with cats :-) Can't wait for our next trip!

We enjoyed the pool area although would prefer one of the cabanas near the sand bar vs the poolside cabana we booked.

Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

The Bungalows felt like a piece of Paradise. When you first…read morearrive, you are greeted by valet staff. Parking is free if you brought a car. We chose to rent and drive from the airport because we had a trip to Key West planned. It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport so, an Uber would have been pretty costly. The valet takes care of your luggage and places it on a golf cart while you check in. The check in process took about 10 min. The front desk staff wasn't super friendly but they weren't rude either. They are supposed to offer you a drink, but we were not offered one by our receptionist while the couple next to us were offered one. No biggie. One thing to note: when you book, 50% is due. Then the other 50% is due thirty days prior to your arrival if you switch your source of payment, they charge you 10%. That same card has do be used for gratuity or add ons. Keep this in mind when you plan. Also, they put a $100/day hold on your card when you check in. After check in, the valet takes you on a tour of the property and then brings you to your room. You'll want to have cash for gratuity for the valet. The Bungalows themselves are gorgeous and offer an outdoor area and outdoor shower. I don't think the beach view bungalows are worth the upgrade. After that, you're on your own for the most part. They schedule your dinner, but other than Bogie and Bacall, they are pretty flexible. Fish Tales is the main restaurant. They offer a four course meal. The food was great. I wouldn't say "amazing" but really well done. The service is impeccable. This is an all inclusive bur gratuity isn't included. This was annoying and probably my biggest complaint. At the end of your meal you are handed a check of all you consumed with a recommend range of gratuity. You put in what you want to leave and sign it and leave. The issue is, it's hard to keep track of how much you're spending. So if you're on a budget, that can be a problem. At night everyone gathers around the tiki bar to enjoy the entertainment. There is only one bad and it fills quickly. The bartenders are also filling drink orders for the pool, and in some situations, Sea Seniors next door. You can also order food at the tiki bar if you choose. It's basic bar food and pizza but quite delicious. There is live entertainment daily from 11-11. There was trivia one night, and karaoke another. But there were no real events offered. In the mornings everyone heads to Fishtales for breakfast. There is a good variety of choices, including a buffet. They do not change it up at all though. So it can get a little boring day after day. They also have a mimosa and bloody Mary self serve bar. Pro tip, bring your own yeti and take two plastic cups of minosa and some ice and put them in your yeti for the pool. There are no drinks served until 11 am at the pool which was pretty odd in my opinion. The tiki bar also doesn't open until 11. It was off season but I will say that the pool didn't really get busy. There are two pools. Ok is a zen pool with little cabana beds. It's more quiet there but the main pool was described as the party pool and he was really chill too. There are about 12 pairs of lounge chairs and umbrellas and two big cabanas with couches. It didn't seem like there would be enough but it ended up to be plenty. We w They have servers come around the pool but it takes quite a bit to get your drinks so pack your patience. They also give you a bill at the end with what you ordered and suggested gratuity. It was easy to forget and just leave so I hated this process. I would have rather been charged a daily gratuity to be split between the staff but that's not what they want to do. Bogie and Bacalls: you get a free night there if you stay for more than 4 days. If you don't it's $300 plus gratuity. This was their high end restaurant and it wand spectacular! You get a ton of food and premium drinks. Expect to tip about $100 here. There is an indoor bar/speakeasy called Hemingways. This is not included in your stay. It's premium cocktails and liquor. There is also the "Family Room" which is a giant indoor/outdoor game room. There are no servers there. If you have a yeti, you could grab a few drinks from the tiki bar and keep it cold. There is a huge TV so we were able to watch the USA game on it with a few other guests. I chose to get a massage. It's a beautiful area of the park but there's no way that 50 min massage was worth $300 + 22% gratuity. They offer water activities. No one was using them. There are some other ads ons but very few guests chose to do them. Overall this is a wonderful, very chill spot and I can see why many guest come back year after year. I wish there were more dining and bar options, and more events offered. The cost was pretty high for what they offer. But we had an amazing time and I'm so glad we did it!

    - Disappointing Stay, Misleading Photos, Poor Response from Management…read more My wife and I stayed in the La Palma Suite for her birthday getaway. We chose this property based on the photographs shown online and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different. The biggest issue was that the room we received did not reflect the condition portrayed in the photos. While it appears the property may have been renovated years ago, much of what we found showed significant wear and deferred maintenance. Some of the issues we encountered included: * A bed that creaked loudly with virtually any movement, making it difficult to sleep. * Shower water that never became truly hot and had very low water pressure. * Mold or mildew buildup visible beneath the sink rim and inside the sink overflow opening. * Rust and corrosion on bathroom fixtures. * Upholstered furniture that was stained, worn, and damaged. * A closet door that would not properly close because it was off track. * Exterior areas that looked noticeably different from the photographs used in advertising. * General cleanliness and maintenance concerns throughout the suite. After reporting the bed issue, management acknowledged the problem and offered to move us to another room with a new mattress. We packed our belongings and prepared to move. However, before the move could occur, the replacement room was reassigned to another guest. We were later informed that because we had not responded quickly enough, the room was no longer available. What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the room, but the lack of meaningful resolution after management recognized there was a problem. Once a room change was offered, I believe it should have been held until direct contact was made with the guest. To be fair, my wife and I still enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys and had a wonderful birthday celebration. The location is beautiful. However, the accommodations themselves did not meet the expectations created by the property's marketing photographs, and management's handling of the situation left us disappointed. I encourage future guests to look carefully at recent traveler photos and ask questions about the current condition of the specific room they are booking before making a reservation.
