This place is a hidden treasure between Islamorada and Key Largo. The property is in a great spot in the water. It has that old Florida Inn type of charm. The pool was nice ( heated) , they had kayaks and paddle boards, bon fire s'mores at night. Also, fresh baked muffins on your porch every morning when you wake up and coffee bar out by the water. We got take out Cuban food takeout for dinner and enjoyed on our large deck, there are many seating areas around the property. Bring a water bottle to refill with their filtered water station. I am going to post my Expedia review in the photos because it's long and I could not copy and paste. Overall, this property was amazing. We made last-minute plans to book here the morning of our stay. We were spending 24 hours in the keys before our flight back to Chicago. This was one of the more affordable options with the more exceptional reviews. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in the right place. The staff was super helpful and very sweet, the room and all grounds were incredibly clean and beautifully maintained and landscaped. This property is on a harbor and so the property offers kayaks, paddle boards and other things via a small beach. There are Adirondack chairs and tables scattered throughout the property both on the beach and outside of our cabana. There are hammocks and loungers and plenty of seating around a very clean pool. There are tiki hut structures with seating to lounge or eat. There is a ping-pong table, bags and a fire pit on the property. Our room was a pleasant surprise located on the first level, facing the pool and beach. I believe it was a deluxe king room where the door opens to a cabana with a ceiling fan, a TV and comfy seating. Beyond that there was an open air semi private patio with chairs and table. This is semi private as it is fenced in. The pool is open 24 hours. There is breakfast served every morning. We got a cute little basket with muffins and fruit delivered to our cabana. Coffee is served out under one of the tiki structures on the beach. There is no other food or bar option at this property. There is plenty to eat and drink just a short ride away. Truly wish we would've had more time to spend at this property. Very comfortable beds and impeccably clean rooms. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay again. read more

When you add up location, service and overall vibe of a place and it's guests...This is the best place I've ever stayed. I was torn to give them this 5 star review they totally deserve it not because I really don't want to have this small Inn be sold out for the rest of my life leaving no vacancy for me ever again lol but I have to. We were treated so kind by staff and the room was just incredible! Clean as clean can be and just steps away from the pool and our own beach with hammocks and chairs everywhere. This is coming from someone who travels a lot and is very critical of the declining state of the US hospitality industry: this place is awesome. We stayed here in suite 14 for three nights. There isnt much to do here which is exactly what we were looking for. The room was clean and had all basic amenities we needed with our toddler. The view is great, the room is great, but the service is exceptional. I wish I knew the names of the front desk staff but the two who were there Sat-Tue did a wonderful job. Natasha is beyond accommodating. my daughter & her husband brought their boat and arrived at 8 am, Natasha greeted them and let them check in right away. There is delicious coffee & muffins every morning. The rooms are spacious & comfortable. The grounds are kept so beautiful, it is a piece of paradise in Tavanier. The service was spot on and they had good Covid measures in place. Loved the wine in the evening and s'mores. They delivered very cute Valentine baskets on Valentine's Day Which was a sweet surprise. For breakfast they delivered muffins and apples daily which is also a nice touch but after 4 nights it got pretty routine. We wished they would have mixed it up with say a banana and a croissant? We had reservations here but didn't actually stay. Booked this place due to the amazing reviews and couldn't have been more excited, but when we arrived I was very disappointed. We booked a "Beachside" bayview deluxe room. They told me when I booked it that you step outside your room on the beach, but they meant the gravelly sand they poured out there that somewhat mimics a beach. There was a huge pile of that rocky sand off to the side that reminded me of a construction site. The property and pool are very small and the view reminded me of somewhere in Jacksonville. The room was decent enough but very small. We ended up leaving and going back to a little tropical Key-sey resort we had visited 5 years prior and regretted not booking there to begin with. We had to pay a cancellation fee but it was worth it. The staff was nice and understanding. I'm confused about all the excellent reviews and also how this is referred to as a "luxury resort" as it definitely is not. read more

An excellent stay , lovely staff (shout out to Brian!) and gorgeous room. My fiancée and I stayed in the Bucaneer suite for 4 nights and loved it. The entire compound is perfectly manicured with plenty of sweet spots to sit relax and admire the gorgeous western views of Florida bay. The morning fruit and muffin delivery, the hot coffee set up and the occasional 6pm wine or rum punch was very nice. Another excellent detail was the fresh water filter system next to the ice machine, which we used daily it was August after all. This is a quiet, comfortable yet luxurious place to stay at a decent price. We will be back. read more

We found this hidden gem and fell in love with it from the moment we arrived. everywhere you turned there was another special place to check out. from fresh muffins and fruit left on the charming patio off your room every morning, fresh coffee and tea, the most helpful sweet staff. landscaping was beautiful and used to create little hideaways to hang out or open areas for groups. fire at night with s'mores. kayaking and paddle boarding right there. boats for adventures can pick you up from the docks that were also great places to hang out with cozy sitting areas. cannot wait to go back there! read more

We arrived last night and were happily surprised at being upgraded. The young girl at the front desk was so nice and helpful. It was Valentine's Day so we even got a small box of chocolates and cookies. Our room was on the first floor and has a large patio, walk-in to a living area and kitchenette with small fridge and Keurig coffee maker ( no sink though ?? Little weird, but it's fine you make it work ) big awesome comfy king bed and large bathroom with vanity area. Our only complaint is that we like to sleep in a little while on vacation and unfortunately, we have an early rising Bigfoot in the room above ours and he tromped overhead at the crack of dawn . So maybe try get an upstairs room! It's still the cutest place love that we open our door and see sand and water... what's better than that? read more

The Coconut Palm Inn is everything it says it is and a little bit more. My hubbie and i started here on a 14 day adventure in the Keys. i was working my way backwards and booked the first three days of our trip only a couple weeks before we left. A lot of the places i had considered in Key Largo were booked or didn't have the king size bed, balcony or water view available that my 6'5" husband really needs and we like. The Coconut Palm was on my list, but not at the top. THANK GOODNESS, we booked here. When we first pulled down the street, it wasn't quite what we expected and had a moments trepidation. But there it was, at the end of the road. Quaint, fresh and just lovely. We booked a suit, that's what was available. The pictures from our room online looked too good to be true. We all know how that goes. But, no, the view was better in person. Checkin was painless. our 2 room suite was clean and spacious. The bed and linens were comfortable and soft, good pillows. The A/C cranked and we were cool at night. The pool was lovely. The view was incredible. Tiki huts, comfortable places to sit, hammocks to snooze. It looked as if each room had it own private patio. This spot was so relaxing, we practically camped there. We read outside, swam, kayaked, fed the cat and iguanas. It was so peaceful and quiet. It seemed at times as if it was our own private retreat. And this place goes the extra little bit. they delivered fruit and muffins to our room each morning. there was a wine tasting in the evening and s'mores kits left by the fire pit. Sunsets galore. The perfect spot to decompress before heading off for more crowded spots. If you are looking for a retreat at the end of the road; a spot to have coffee and see the water with your feet in the sand....this is it. read more

The hotel is located directly on the water and has a nice little pool, a private beach area, hammocks hung from palm trees, a fire pit, tiki huts, and lounge chairs. Included in the resort fee (~$25) are free kayaks and paddle boards, bean bag toss, and fishing rods to use on the attached docks. Great authentic Keys atmosphere. This is a tricky review for me to write. The Inn gets 5 stars for the quality of the people who run the place, their interest in good service, and their overall helpfulness. But the Inn's website describes the place as one of the Keys' "most unique luxury beachfront hideaways." I'm sorry, but despite the rave reviews written on many sites, there is no way in the world that this can be considered a "luxury" resort. And at $399/night for the 2-room "suite" with the kitchen during the high season, it's vastly overpriced. The unit I was in gets one star (the bathroom gets 0 stars). The setting and outside area get 3.5 stars. Here is what I found in my 2-bedroom unit. The kitchen area is simple and useful, with a small refrigerator, stove, and sink. Dishes, cutlery, and a few coffee filters are provided. Nothing else - not even salt and pepper. If you do intend to make simple hot breakfasts, you'll have to provide everything (most places I've stayed @ with kitchens offer a few basics including some spices). The Inn looks its age in the rooms, which are tiled for easy cleaning. There is one bedside light, which isn't very bright, so if you both are sharing a bed and both want to read, be sure to bring an extra reading light. The bathroom was especially need in of renovation - last one may have been 20 to 30 years ago. Grout has darkened a lot, with blackening of tiles in the corner. There's no caddy or any place to hang shampoo. A tiny window provides ventilation. Lighting is fluorescent. No hooks in the bathroom, so your clothes have to be piled onto the floor or onto towel racks. Black mold (?) shows underneath the toilet rim (not someplace I normally look, but it was visible each time I opened the bathroom door due to the small bathroom size and angle of the toilet). In the living room, the "couch" is actually another bed, so you can't really sit comfortably on it without adding lots of pillows from the bedrooms. All in all, I viewed the interior rooms as ones I'd expect to find in a budget type motel in most parts of the country - not by any stretch of the imagination a "luxury resort" room. Had I been told that was the case, I'd have been less disappointed. The noise level from the highway is fine - it's a quiet place. Thin walls and floors mean that if you have loud upstairs "friends" you'll hear every movement. The Keys don't have the long stretches of beaches found in the Carolinas, or along the west Coast. At the CPI, a small stretch of sand reaches down to the bay, and provides nice seating for watching the boats or the sunset. The Inn provides a paddle boat and kayaks. Small BBQ grills can toast marshmallows and hot dogs. Continental breakfast in the "tiki" hut consists of a variety of muffins, apples, juice and coffee. On our second day we ended up in Duck Key where we found the Hawk Cay resort. Based on the setting and the lobby areas, that place can call itself a "luxury resort." The Coconut Palm Inn would be better described as a small older hotel on the bay, with vintage lighting fixtures and bathrooms begging for an update. read more

I had a great stay at this place. My husband and I stayed here a few months ago. It is a small Inn (as are almost all Keys hotels) that gave us privacy and relaxation. We upgraded to the larger suite. We loved our suite. I understand the point of view from the previous review that it is not a luxury resort by other city standards. By other city standards, you might call it a "quaint inn". Compared to your typical Keys hotels, it's probably fair to call it a luxury hotel because it is both spacious and clean and has awesome views. I love the Florida Keys, but I wouldn't stay at the majority of the hotels that we passed by. I would definitely come back here. We didn't use the pool because it was cold that weekend. It was close to a bird sanctuary which we checked out one day, and also to a boat rental company which we also tried. A couple of authentic Keys restaurants were nearby. This hotel was serene and the service was great. We also took advantage of the outdoor grill and used it to grill fresh fish from the market. The property exceeded my expectations even after I saw how good it looked online. We felt like we were on a private island. So peaceful, secluded, and relaxing. The staff, especially Deedee, were awesome as well. There are also free kayaks, paddle boards, and bikes which we used both days. I would definitely recommend this place. This past week (June 12-14) we had a charity event which consisted of 100 moving parts. 100+ people attended. Coconut Palm Inn and their staff were absolutely amazing. Room rentals/check-in/housekeeping/groundskeeping/dockage for 20+ boats/cleanliness/staff interaction/check out.....everything was above and beyond what we expected. Tracey, Sally, Ashley and the rest of the staff, I can't say enough about you all. Location was absolutely beautiful and everything anyone could want for a wedding destination, family reunion, "business meetings", social event, etc. The small things truly make any event great and ultimately little things make a big difference. I honestly hate to review on this because I feel it's sort of a hidden gem but loved it here! Like many others have said, the place is secluded yet still close enough to activities. We stayed a whole week in the Coconut Palm Suite and enjoyed every minute of it. Very close to the local grocery store so we actually cooked up some meals and ate out on the private deck a few nights. The second bedroom only offers a twin bed but includes its own bathroom. We loved the location and all the amenities it had to offer. The staff was very kind and we thought the place was perfectly priced. Will definitely stay here again. read more

Searching for a same-week reservation in the Keys proved to be a costly venture. Even the least favorable of inns showed rates exceeding $250/night. It took a bit of research, but I stumbled upon an article via Travel + Leisure that pointed to the best beach hideaways. Among the top, Coconut Palm Inn landed a mention. Located in Tavernier, it's only about 1 hr and 20 min from Miami. Far enough to feel removed, but close enough to catch the sunset if you leave town after work. We got one of the standard rooms at the top of the ramp and found the amenities to be quaint and perfect. A queen size bed, a petite kitchenette, and a nice sized shower. Since it's on the bay side, you'll get great sunset views. Unrivaled. It's right on the water, but you won't likely want to swim in it. Paddleboards and kayaks are available though (free to use), so those can get you out past the anchored boats and marina. If you happen to have a boat, there's also a small pier to dock at. The pool was nice, although petite, and the hammocks were a perfect touch to the island getaway. Staying at the Coconut Palm Inn means endless relaxing and if you're looking to fish, Islamorada is only 15 minutes down the road. For the price, we really enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be incredibly sweet and welcoming. It's a spot I'd certainly visit again. read more

Loved this place. Tracey was so helpful and friendly. Stopped here last minute trying to find a place that wasn't sold out. Tracey offered us the houseboat. Absolutely loved it. What a cool experience for my girls. Tracey even helped us for quite a long time trying to get our second tv on the boat to work. Had no luck, but were able to visit with Tracey while she worked on it and was able to find out more about the area. Smores around campfire at night and kayaking around the mangroves the next morning. We had a great time even though we only stayed one night. Would recommend this place to anyone. Some of these reviews puzzle me. The Coconut Palm is not a luxury hotel, nor is it a business-class hotel. It bills itself as a "beachfront hideaway" and on that point, it delivers. Yes, the wi-fi (while free) was quite slow on my laptop, but I wasn't there to work. If people are planning a working vacation, then I would suggest going to one of the larger chain hotels in Key Largo. These places are better suited to serve business travelers. The Coconut Palm is equipped to help you relax - and it does that well. As for the price, I looked at other accommodations around Key Largo and Coconut Palm seemed no different, price-wise, than what else was out there. The Keys are a popular vacation spot, and naturally prices reflect that. The Keys are technically islands, and if you've traveled around islands much, you'll know that resources often come at a premium. Don't expect the same amenities in Key West as you might get from Miami or Sarasota, in other words. The Coconut Palm does not bill itself as a B&B either, so don't expect a sumptuous hot breakfast. (There IS breakfast, and while it is attractively arranged outside, it is basically an array of store-brought breads, oatmeal, fruit, coffee and tea.) There are kitchens, though, if you'd like to do some cooking for yourself. We only stayed one night and this was not something I took advantage of...but, after reading one particular review, I looked at the cookware offered and it seemed to be in good condition. OK, with all that out of the way, I give the Coconut Palm a solid four stars - the great location keeps it from being three stars, otherwise. Our unit was clean but there were some small things that kept us from getting a great night of sleep. #1, I agree that the mattresses are too soft, likely from age. #2, we both woke up at different times to the sound of faint drumming. I realized that this was the plumbing, and each time someone in the building flushed the toilet, this faint drumming sound would last for a few minutes...and then stop. I used ear plugs and that helped a bit. If we'd stayed longer, it might have become an issue, but for the one day/night we were there, the Coconut Palm was great. We spent all day on the grounds, using the pool, reading in the hammock and then sitting on the dock to watch the sun set. There are kayaks and paddleboards for guests to use. As for the boat ramp, I saw no more than two boats use it during my time there - it wasn't a noise nuisance. There are weddings on the grounds and I can see why - it's a lovely spot. As for the comment about it being in a residential neighborhood, I'm not sure why that's a bad thing. There isn't a restaurant I saw within walking distance, but there are places that do take-out and delivery. We picked up a pizza (Upper Crust Pizza, really good) and ate it on our patio. I was a bit disappointed that the Coconut Palm's waterfront doesn't have a great swimming beach, but that could be said for the Keys in general. It was definitely relaxing, though. We didn't need to consult with the front office much, but found the employees helpful and friendly. Bottom line: if you want an easy-going, relaxing vibe, I give the Coconut Palm two big thumbs up. If you go, please don't knock the CP for being something it's not trying to be in the first place. There are other hotels in the Key Largo area and this small hideaway may not be the place for everyone. read more
