Stayed here for 1 night (family of 4) and so glad we did. It really has everything you could need. Rooms were fairly spacious and clean. The shower is on the smaller side but worked out fine with the 4 of us. The grounds are quaint and with great views of the ocean. They had paddle boards, kayaks, snorkel gear and bikes. We had an outdoor patio facing the ocean. Room had plates, cutlery and few pots and pans and a hot plate. Microwave and mini fridge too. This location is very close to Lorelei's restaurant which is also highly recommended. We would definitely stay here again.

We decided to go to Islamorada last minute, this was the cheapest hotel for a labor day weekend (350$ per night, don't make the same mistake, book in advance). Front desk Stacy was very sweet and kind. The only thing we didn't like how dirty the floor were.. overall was good. The outside area is beautiful!

Very comfortable bed, mattress was awesome!

Great customer service, very friendly & helpful staff. The grounds are well maintained, they also have a small swimming pool, nice waterfront area to relax on lounge chairs or hammocks to nap in under the palm trees. A big bonus is that they even have floats, paddle boards, kayaks & bicycles for guests to use FREE of charge! (The last place we stayed at charged us $20 each to use their kayaks for a couple of hours) The rooms are spacious & very clean. Our room was comparable to what I consider a "studio", it was a spacious, open room with a big screen TVs on the wall, a nice kitchenette that included a microwave, small fridge, a table with two chairs and Keurig coffee maker! They are also in a great location, where we were able to walk to numerous restaurants & bars and the new Publix grocery store is just a few minutes drive down the road. We loved it & we will be back!

Mid-century design with modern amenities, right on the water of the Gulf and perfect for sunsets. Friendly staff and extremely clean rooms. Out on the little beach area, there is a family of squirrels, so bring some unsalted peanuts! They gently take them right from your hand. All-in-all, I would stay here again. My only issue is the lack of an after hours number to call for noise complaints. There was a group also staying there who insisted on blasting 80s metal from their porch around sunset. It was beyond annoying.

It's a sneaky little spot. Drive too fast on Overseas and you might miss it! But once you park and get out, you'll soon realize how special this hideout really is. There are plenty of free amenities, including kayaks and diving masks. The garden area is gorgeous and they have places for grilling and cleaning your catch. The rooms are small but updated. The STAFF THOUGH!!! They KNOW their guests. I've enjoyed watching them interact with the obvious return customers, the kids out fishing off the little jetty's (and giving them pointers) and accommodate guests like us who showed up just a bit earlier than expected. I cannot wait to book here again. Just a few hours into our stay and I'd come back ten fold. My only critique is more of a personal preference than anything. The AC in the room could be a bit stronger, but again, that's bc I like my rooms frigid when I sleep. Otherwise, 10/10 would stay!

View from their "beach" area. There are plenty of chairs and hammocks for guests.

My husband and I stayed here for our time in the Keys and I can say that we will be returning. Our room was clean and the air conditioning definitely works. Although we did not partake, the hotel has kayaks, bikes, and towels that you can check out for water activities. The location is also great in the middle of Islamorada and the property is oceanside which was amazing.

View from our balcony looking towards the bay, this resort is so beautiful!

Just got home from an excellent 2 day stay in Islamorada and decided to stay at the la jolla resort since Capt Rick Murphy (one of my favorite fishing show host) recommends this spot. It was amazing, resort was incredibly beautiful and the free kayak and bike rentals made it even better, decor of the room had a very nice florida keys flavor to it, room was very cozy and very clean. The young lady in the office named Ana was extremely nice and friendly and recommended me a couple good cafes in the area, I will be returning!!

Recommended by friends and they were correct. Traditional Key atmosphere, almost like stepping back in time. My son fed fish off the dock with food the staff gave him in the office and loves the hammock. Accommodations are fine, with a nice kitchenette. The staff, Alan and Katie, are very friendly and gave excellent recommendations to local venues.

Decent place, but overpriced for what it is. I didn't find it to be too different from the Key Lantern Inn which is $60 a night.

The Sunset Inn - Front area parking a little tight but doable

    The Sunset Inn

We recently stayed at Sunset Inn in Islamorada and had a mixed experience. On the positive side,…read morethe room was clean and well-maintained, and the check-in process was very smooth and hassle-free, which we appreciated after a long day of travel. However, we felt that the property is quite highly priced for what it offers. Unfortunately, our comfort was affected by a few issues in the room--the bed made noticeable noise even with slight movement, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, the air conditioner was quite loud, adding to the disturbance. Overall, while the cleanliness and easy check-in were definite positives, the noise issues and pricing did not quite match our expectations.

The hotel itself was very clean, and the room looked like it was recently remodeled. The bed had a European style bottom on it where I kept hitting my ankle and toes. The mattress was kind of soft, but the pillows were really nice and comfortable. The bathroom looked rather old, and the shower itself didn't have a door on it. So you risk getting water onto the bathroom on the floor when you're just taking a normal shower. I liked the rear room door which led to the pool area. The pool was a saltwater type and very inviting. This was a major plus for this Inn. Get the towels from the front office and pick a nice spot around the pool. This area really was well done Shopping is a breeze with the Publix grocery store just one mile south. Many great choices for restaurants are all within 2 miles. There are no places to cook inside the unit, but there is a microwave outback in case you wanna warm something. A small refrigerator is provided along with a coffee maker and Keurig coffee pods. Try not to book a room facing the street, as it gets rather noisy at night. Also, foot traffic during was rather loud up until midnight. There is a great value in staying here as the price for rooms are very reasonable. I think I paid $136 for the night. The two women at check-in were very polite and attentive to my needs. Questions were answered, I think I would stay here again if I didn't have a room up against the highway. Be sure to inquire first.

Check in was quick, and very friendly with recommendations. Our room was on the second floor again, this time an ocean front and wow - it's worth it. They have a great menu for lunch options that they bring out to you. The room was very clean, modern, and spacious. You can request a microwave if you need too! There are bikes, paddle boards, and kayaks for rental for free. Lots of things going on in between the three resorts - we wish we'd had a chance to try the yoga! We will be back for years to come.

After 3 days my wife had to threaten the front desk staff with using towels to wipe her ass if the maids didn't restock the toilet paper in our room. Totally unacceptable for a resort. They kept assuring us the rooms service maids were coming in daily, but they never did until she threatened to come down and make a scene. The staff seemed unmotivated to complete even the basic cleaning tasks. We only asked for two coffee k cups, clean towels and the two room garbage cans to be emptied on a daily basis. That was just too demanding and the staff tried to mean-mug us when we came and went but finally got it done for the final two days of our visit. I'd advise you visit another property because the service is nonexistent and a total disappointment. Their on site restaurant was a joke as well. Completely overpriced and out of touch given the location. Every other restaurant we visited in the area was excellent, but theirs was almost always empty. The menu was way overpriced and there were countless local options that were much better and less expensive. Nearly all the staff on site see to be unwilling to provide service to customers and displaying a shitty attitude overall. Leadership changes need to take place or this property will crumble. Good location, just bad service with inadequate leadership supervision.

Next time he plans to bring his small boat so that he can dock it there. Upon our arrival we were greeted and checked in quickly and efficiently. Our questions about the area, restaurants, etc. were answered and he said he was only a text away if we had any questions at all. This was impressive to me and I was grateful. The sunsets were gorgeous and we were happy we brought our camera. We did not use the pool or the many hammocks and chairs on the grounds but we're happy they were there.
