One of my favorite places to see live theater in New York. I've always gotten tickets in advance online and had them delivered electronically. I like that this place has a cute lobby in the front to hangout before the performance starts. Bathrooms and water fountain are downstairs. Entrance to the theater is upstairs.

I've been to this theatre so many times but this time, I saw "if pretty hurts, ugly must be a muhfucka"...a contemporary versions of a West African fable. The fable is about frenemies, beauty, jealousy, and the unreachable ideals that culture bestows upon us all. Great acting, live music and dancing! What a wonderful experience. The show runs almost 2 hrs with no intermission and time just flew by. I was engaged and intrigued the entire 2 hrs. This is definitely a Must See!!! Playwrights Horizon is such a gem! Off-Broadway theatre in Times Square with professional, lovely staff. They have two lounges;. The lower level, larger lounge offers beverages and snacks, while the upper level, smaller lounge offers comfy seating and a photo booth!! The theatre itself is fabulous. Every seat is a great seat. Great stage, great sound. I look forward to future shows and I'll definitely be back!

I accidentally came into this theater looking for the nondescript one next door, the first time. I was a little disappointed I was in the wrong place. Playwrights Horizons is exactly what I expect a modern theater to look like. I didn't take pictures of the lobby, silly me, but it's quite nice. The second floor is a half floor so you're basically in a cathedral of a theater. There's concessions center rear and seating along the left. The restrooms are downstairs and just how I like them. Like the ones in the airport where you don't have to touch a door on your way out. There's a freight sized elevator so it's ADA accessible. I was seated in Row E Seat 5. From the seating chart you can see that I will be extremely biased about the leg room. God bless Row E! I didn't even need to get up for the Intermission! The seats are nicely padded and roomy. The sound was very good. The "I'm not sure if the actors are miked or not" good. The staging was well done though the foreshortening may have made the stage look smaller than it is. I'd need to see a different production in order to tell. Right now "Indian Summer" is playing. I'd be remiss if I didn't write a review of it. It was very funny, yet with a melancholy ending. Good stuff. I really hope I'm able to see another play here in the future. It's a lovely space.

Flat Earth from the same author of Amy and the Orphans. Another excellent production.

Horizons is closer to Port Authority than to Times Square. A two stage playhouse. Off Broadway theater that supports American writers. Main stage has 198 seats and Peter J Sharp theater has 128 seats. The place is wheel chair assessable and has an elevator. Get there early if you need the elevator as there is just one and could take a bit to get a ride. The facility is always clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I really enjoy attending their performances. I've seen two plays here, Indian Summer and Flat Earth. Both excellent. I use to only go to Broadway to see plays but a friend started taking me to off broadway and I'm loving it.

I attended Danai Gurira ' s (Michonne from The Walking Dead) "Familiar" last night and this theatre really exceeded my expectations. Friendly competent staff, comfortable seating, modern design and features (the IG/FB Photo booth). I wish the theatres On Broadway were like this off Broadway theatre. I love the arts and attended acting classes in college. I love that PH provides this kind of platform for new writing. This theatre is very cozy yet very spacious. The design was impeccable! The way the set designer created the house was remarkable. Even down to the snow outside the windows was cleverly done and realistic. The actors in this production were amazingly skilled. Seating was easy to find with the labeled carpet letters. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. If you need a bite before the show there are several restaurants on 9th Ave and 8th. Do your Yelp Homework 1st!

Final stage for Mulan

One Word: Mulan! What a fantastic performance by the Red Poppy Ladies all the way from Beijing! For 32 performances only sadly, they will supply you with 70 minutes of percussion music to the beloved folklore of the infamous story of Mulan. The intimacy of the theater allowed the viewers to be immersed in history, and also more importantly - feel it in the drum beats. Written up by the New York Times, these women stirred up a storm with not only an amazing arm workout -wow!- but, they did it with such profound certainty and feeling on their faces, that you couldn't help but wish it was a bit longer. 13 Scenes telling the life of Mulan from childhood school days up unto the day she is given awards from the Emperor. Each girl is clearly distinct in their pose, and bring wonderment into the Chinese culture. The scenes were projected with a little abstract before each, to give a little highlight as to what to expect. Scenes "Victory" and "A Song for Mulan" were really profound; I would have bought the soundtrack if I could! Percussion is more than just the drums - these ladies used laundry baskets, sticks, tables, chairs - you name it! To call it more of a woman's "Stomp" I think is really short changing these girls talent! Costumes were elegant as well, and made you wonder actually how much planning went into this production! Prices range from $69, but thanks to Living Social, I paid two tickets for $80! Please bring these ladies back soon!

My boyfriend and I went with some friends to the "30 and under" party here last night, hosted by PH. Got to see a fantastic play and mingle with young theater-goers like ourselves. and the after party served tater tots and cupcakes so obviously I was smitten. hooray good theater, talented actors, and a wonderful staff!!! GREAT Theater, GREAT prices, GREAT all around! I miss doing theater so much. tear.

My daughter wanted to take me to a play for my birthday so I chose Bella. I was a little apprehensive about it since I'd never heard of it. We were fortunate to get five tickets the day before. Although we were told we wouldn't be seated together that wasn't the case when we arrived. The theater offers a very intimate setting without a bad seat in the house. We were second row from the stage! The sets were comfortable enough that I didn't feel cramped. The play was a delightfully funny musical. It featured an eclectic mix of characters. A tale of a young women and her trials and tribulations learning to use her (ass)ets to maneuver thru life. Despite never having heard of he play we were all very happy with the choice. I will have to keep an eye out for more plays at this venue. They offfer quality shows at reasonable prices!!!

Love, love, love PH! Every show I've seen here has been a winner, musicals and plays alike. And their venue is totally gorgeous. Intimate, yet also modern and welcoming. Their memberships for young people and students can't be beat- and they throw totally killer parties for their under 30 nights. Themed food and decorations galore!

I wish I would've taken a picture because it was really confusing how to use our priority tickets because there were so many people standing in line they were blocking the sign. Also, you should definitely get the priority tickets. For us it was only $11 extra and it is WELL worth it. The play was amazing! Everybody did such a great job and I really loved Scorpius's character. Of course Tom Felton was there as the original Draco Malfoy, which is the entire reason that we came. If you want to during the play, you can order food to your seat which I thought was cool. The rest of the snacks were good for what they were. We booked through AAA and got a snack bag with popcorn water and a cursed child cup filled with Gummies. Everything was really good. If I could change one thing and I know this is like, "come on" but the seats were kind of uncomfortable. Google says that the Lyric Theatre was redone in 1996. The seats feel like they are from the 1930s so plan for that. Some

I would not necessarily recommend for young kids as it's long.

The show was surprisingly modern, and completely captivating from start to finish. The energy in the theater was unreal as everyone, including celebrities, came out to celebrate Megan Thee Stallion in her final performance as Zidler. She was hilarious, quick, and owned that stage in every moment she appeared. Even though I've seen her perform on tour, it felt like such a special experience to witness. We soaked in the city, took in some sights, and of course grabbed a slice while we were there. I am beyond grateful to my husband for such an incredible and thoughtful gift. Even though it's a non-traditional spin on the character, she infuses the role with her signature "hot girl" energy and is a total joy to watch on stage. Despite her massive personality, she manages not to overshadow the rest of the cast. I think that speaks volumes about the group's chemistry... she fits right in without upstaging anyone. Since it's a jukebox musical anyway, having Meg perform some of her own hits while the rest of the company joined in was a great touch. Having seen the original cast in the 2019 Moulin Rouge production, which was also wonderful, I'm really glad I got to experience both interpretations.

Since it was one set, they did a good job going from area to area to keep things visually interesting without breaking from the singing. At one point the actors ran through the audience aisles, which I usually find really unsettling, but the music is so catchy why not get up and dance? So simple in concept but really well executed. Only critique was the one girl who wasn't a size 2 had on long sleeves and pants under a dress. Like...it's not that hard to dress an averaged size woman. She had a great solo number too, so shame the costume designers fell flat. But it was a high energy show and not too pricey! Definitely recommend!
