My dad also lived in Houston and we'd often do shopping or eating at the mall. My daughter (who is now 30) loved (& still does) skating at the ice rink during the holidays. It's a magically fun experience. The Galleria is always incredibly decorated for the holidays. I still get to Houston 1-2 times a year and always enjoy visiting The Galleria. The Galleria itself has not only the ice rink but office space, two hotels, lots of places to eat, and shopping. The retail offerings range from shops like H&M, Macy's, and Nordstrom to high-end luxury shops like Gucci & Chanel. We were there just a few months ago and it was just as fun and exciting as my first visit! Gang, there are so many stores here. Like crazy amounts (a few hundred). It's very large and easy to navigate and of course gets extremely busy during peak times. A must-visit for locals and tourists alike.

The moment you step inside, you experience bright lights, multiple levels of stores, and a steady stream of shoppers that create an energetic, bustling atmosphere. Beyond shopping, the mall offers entertainment options such as its iconic indoor ice-skating rink, making it easy to spend an entire day there. One of the Galleria's biggest strengths is its variety. Luxury retailers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton share space with more accessible brands such as Banana Republic and American Eagle, offering something for nearly every budget and style. Whether you're on a focused shopping mission or simply window-shopping, there's plenty to explore...even if, in our case, we left empty-handed. The dining options are equally diverse, ranging from food-court favorites to sit-down restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory and Shake Shack to Chic-fil-a. The value is up there in price... we are talking the $$$-$$$$. Parking: paid street parking, free retail garage parking. Shops: most of the luxury name brands you can dream of, are stationed in this district so if you plan to treat yourself, this is the place to do it.

Greenway plaza is filled with business buildings all around. It's a great area to work at with…read moretraffic that isn't too bad. I would say that it's better than most areas in Houston. The atmosphere is pretty chill here. Mirror walls and fountains created a nice scenery. It's very well kept. Each building has its own speciality. Plaza 3, 4, and 5 are connected through concourse with a food court. It gets pretty busy around lunch since that's when everyone comes down to get lunch. There is Burger-chan, Feges BBQ, Cilantro, Alonti, Rice Box, and etc. It's also connected to the Double Tree Hilton Hotel with a Starbucks. Parking is a bit tricky, but just follow the signs for visitors parking -$2 per hour. The building might seem confusing if you don't work here, but most of the buildings are connected or there is short-cut to get to them. On days with good weather, eating outside feels great with overlooking the fountains. They have plenty of outdoor tables near building 8 and 9.

Considering there are many strip malls around this area, Weslayan Plaza is bigger and with more shops that I am familiar with. You can enter from either Weslayan Street or Bissonnet Street, depends which direction you are coming from. I often take freeways, so I get here by Southwest Freeway and exit at Weslayan. The mall is divided by Weslayan Street. West side is Randall's Supermarket and other stores. Recently, I have been here on the east side of mall to shop at Michael's and Ross more than other places. Occasionally, I go to Wells Fargo Bank. During Covid, I went to Spec's for gift shopping. I noticed there are few restaurants that I would like to visit.

This is a massive Plaza that kind of takes up several different street corners around the same intersection and has tons of parking lot space, which is a good thing, and some decent chain restaurants and some good shopping options as well. There's pretty much something you'd want or anything you might need located at some part of this intersection, which is definitely a good thing. This place is kind of a One-Stop Shop, or collection of shops, if you like. Yes, it's super expensive, although there's a cheap Ross where we were harassed by employees, and then some other good stores and interesting stuff and food items that might be worth trying. And lots of hip cool people come here for Torchy's and such. Traffic can be a bit of a nightmare around here of course though. And I'm not Wes Lyin'.
