Stopped in for lunch with a friend and we have absolutely zero regrets. The staff was attentive and friendly and we were able to pick out our seat by the window. They also offer outdoor dining but we decided to enjoy the A/C today We had the opportunity to peruse the menu while chomping on fresh chips and salsa. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of my dish but it was braised beef in crispy corn tortillas and beef consommé for dipping. Imagine a French Dip sandwich in a tortilla BUT BETTER. I should have stopped at two but I ate all three of them. My friend ordered the Street Tacos. Four varieties of the tacos offered on the menu but the perfect bite size portions. She reports that they were equally delicious. We were too full to taste the beans and rice. I'll be dreaming about those tacos for days. read more

Staff try their hardest to accommodate you. They have outdoor seating under a tarp to block you from windy days or can cozy up at one of their fire pits that easily fits a family of four. The food is great, but their margaritas are delicious and....STRONG :) the lively atmosphere will make you wish they converted the place to a dance floor at night.. Service was acceptable. People were friendly. Restaurant was buzzing. Food came fairly quick and the nachos were good, lettuce crisp, sour cream on top. Very good. The combo plate was a soggy, kinda all mushed together, no sour cream and the meat was different than the nachos. We did get the fried ice cream, it wasn't freshly fried or made. We ate it, but it was just ice cream wrapped in breading. When we are in town again, we may head back but with the knowledge of what to get and what to pass on ordering. read more

Convenient Mexican dining fare near the beach. Friendly, prompt service. Food was pretty good and close to authentic. Went to beach and came here for a quick meal. Had Camarones a la Diabla which was a little disappointing bc most other places make theirs without queso (reason for one star). Had some of the best margaritas I have ever had here. They were very generous with the liquor unlike other restaurants. Overall, decent food, great customer service, convenient, and nice atmosphere. Would go again. The wait staff and floor management are consistently wonderful, and we've yet to have a bad meal here. We frequent Plaza almost every time we have guests in town. The only glaring blemish on their track record happened when we sat at the bar and were very rudely interacted with by the senior bottle-blonde behind the bar. At almost 30 years old with 7 of industry experience managing a bar venue, you'd think I'd be flattered by the assumption that I'm underage- however we were very loudly accused of having "fraudulent identification" (her exact words) after she made it a point to take our ID's across the restaurant to three different managers for "verification purposes". This was all before we could even place a food order, much less before there was even a mention of alcohol. We travel for a living and are both transplants to the MD area so we both have out of state ID's that she clearly doesn't know how to read. This is also a prominent military town, so one would guess they'd have ample knowledge with the variety of IDs they encounter. I've had my own experiences of protecting myself from the liability of serving minors, but her dramatic outburst and loud accusations in front the entire bar were in extremely poor taste and horribly embarrassing as regulars of the establishment. She is an incredibly lacking representative of the rest of our experience with the staff. I'm surprised she's employed there in the first place. read more

I've never actually eaten at this restaurant however I'm leaving a two star review because both times that I attempted to go to this restaurant I haven't been able to be seated. A few weeks ago I came in with my family of five and the host walked right past me to a white couple who came in after us. So we walked out. As we walked out, another customer who saw the whole thing said "sorry about that". Today I walked into an almost empty restaurant and stood around for a few minutes waiting for someone to come to the front to seat me. No one ever did. So then I left. But as I was leaving I saw two employees sitting in the outside area and I asked them if a host was inside. One of them didn't even look in my direction while the other one stayed looking at his phone and nodded "yeah". Both remained in their seats though. So again I went about my business. I don't know if these people have good food or not but their customer service is absolutely lacking to the point where they lost my business twice, and now forever as I do not plan to return nor will I recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Love the food and the culture they bring in this restaurant! Their queso is the best I've ever had! I will actually order it with the chips on movie nights with the hubby sometimes. There are good things on the menu for sure, and this doesn't mean we'll stop going, but the long menu needs better descriptions. Or a massive menu overhaul. Some of the list items are essentially identical with 1 vegetable or additional sauce as the difference. Their salsa is good, but the sauces they use to cover burritos, or enchiladas, etc don't differ greatly from each other. I wish they were more flavorful or reduced more or something to differentiate them. Their carnitas are excellent, as is most of their grilled chicken options, but the ground beef is bland and boring. This is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had. My husband and I came to North Beach for a few nights for our anniversary and a coworker recommended Plaza Mexico. It did not disappoint!! The atmosphere is wonderful - they have tons of outdoor dining which was great since the weather was perfect. We ordered the guacamole to start which was phenomenal and my husband and I both ordered the street tacos. It came with 4 different varieties and they all were equally amazing. Our waiter was really nice too. We cannot wait to come back and may even just do takeout another night of our trip since we can't get enough. Highly recommend!!! read more

This restaurant near the Pier/water is one of the greatest I've been to thus far with Authentic Mexican dishes/entrees. Their food is by far well worth the price the pay. The food servers are amazing & attentive and the owner is very welcoming to his establishment. The music will make you want to get up and dance as the sunset goes down. The patrons were nice as well! We went back two nights in a row just because of the delicious food & great music, instead of our planned seafood outing. This is now our go to spot on North Beach. Last weekend i went for the first time. It was extremely crowded so we sat at the bar. I don't know the bartender's name she has blonde hair and I was there on a Saturday night. The service and food were excellent! My friend has a speech impediment and it makes speaking without stuttering impossible. Every time I've been in the twin beaches and I've had a major craving for a real margarita and Mexican basics I've visited here and EVERY time the service was so bad I left either before being seated (after an inordinate wait - NON busy times) or after being seated but the server never comes back (longest wait for a server after being seated was 25 minutes). Dust on top of ceiling's frames where people are eating at table and dust is above, railing near bathroom shakes really bad, bathroom know missing to sink, toilet doesn't Flush,dust collected in vents, bathroom stall had no lock, and holes in wall and stall looks like it's coming off wall too. Rips in seats near table and more problems. Food was good, service was ok. They dropped our food on Floor and then had to wait for new food. It's was an ok experience. read more

Unfortunately, Tuesday, July 2nd was not Nacho Day at Plaza Mexico. My cousin and I ordered the Nacho Supreme for our table. But the chicken was dry and tough and the dish was covered with a tasteless queso sauce. We simply could not eat it, so, we sent it back and asked for the Nacho Fajitas...well they were equally tasteless largely due to being covered with the same queso sauce rather than with melted cheddar cheese, so we consumed about 10% of the nachos. At the end of the meal, as I was reluctantly packing the nachos in a togo box, we found a long blond hair in the middle of the dish. We immediately showed it to the server, who apologized and got the manager. To my amazement, the manager came over, held up the strand of hair and asked "Where did it come from?" Duh. I said, just give us the check, because today is clearly not Nacho Day at Plaza Mexico. Very disappointed with the nachos, manager, and lack of customer service...must be new management... read more

Love this spot! Exactly what I look for at a Mexican restaurant - no frills, decent service, delicious food. We didn't get any drinks but they looked great and huge! Prices are good as well, especially for their lunch specials. We got the nachos con chorizo and lunch special #2 and both were great. Will definitely return. read more
