Ask for Lee for pedicures, she's great! The salon as a whole doesn't have great ambience and isn't terribly relaxing, which is normal for San Diego nail salons but Lee makes it a very nice experience. read more

I went in as a walk-in on Wednesday lunch and was admitted for simultaneous gel mani/pedi. Ladies delivered an excellent service, with neat work and awesome massage. The salon itself is pretty modest and a bit worn-down, but prices and service fully made up for it. read more

I have been getting my nails professionally done for 38 years. This nail shop did a horrible job on my gel nails! The man who did my nails charged me $80 for service, I paid him $100. Plaza Nails seated me right away and worked with me to find the right colors and design to match my shoes and dress for the event. They even fixed my broken nail. All of this for $57! DO NOT GO HERE! Very upset:( I called made an appointment to check how much I'd end up spending. Full set French tip, gel French tip pedi. They told me $100 over the phone. Got there, showed a pic of the French tip set, everything was good.man doing my nails walked off to the next customer thought he was coming back never did. I said when will I be getting my nails finished insisted I'd end up paying more. Ended up paying $85 for clear coat on my toes and nails. read more

Quite possibly the best acrylic fill & spa pedicure I've ever had in my life! I have very small hands & nails so it's nearly impossible to find someone that will file the acrylic down enough & shape them so they aren't bulky & look delicate and natural. Henry is fast yet meticulous! This place is clean as a whistle & the customer service is excellent. No hard sell-they just give you what you need knowing you will return! Yelp says 3 stars means "OK" and the service was really OK. I've had better. Pedicure was OK, manicure - not impressed (wonky nail cuts, and no cleaning under the nails; I typically do a better job at those myself). But the cuticles were cleaned up nicely, the massage chair was appreciated, and they accommodated me on short notice at the end of the day. Maybe the ladies were tired at the end of the day. I asked for french tips, she did some kind of half tip at the bottom and i asked if she was going to complete the whole tip, but she said that would cost even more than what she had already put on as a french tip. Typical place. Nothing fancy. Everyone was nice. 4 of us had the deluxe pedicure. Glad we were able to relax together as a family. They were pretty busy but were able to get all of us in. My husband informed me that the lady who did his pedicure didn't so very well. We looked closely and not only did she not clip his toenails short enough, but they were all jagged, so that means she didn't file and buff very well. When he told me, I felt really disappointed because he was the reason I wanted to go get pedicures, because he works so hard, and I wanted him to relax. Plus he gave them 20% tip. If he informed me this sooner, I would've made sure she got only a small tip. Plus we paid 35.00 each for a deluxe pedi. Could've been better. read more

My favorite nail salon in downtown! $27 gel pedicure + $14 to remove previous gel You seriously cannot beat those prices. The staff here is so kind and humble + they do an amazing job everytime ive come. I usually don't get manicures over preference but the handful of times I have, I've gotten dip here and people always compliment my nails. I've been coming for the past year and I've seen some blatant disrespect towards the nail techs here the past two times This isn't part of the review but let all try to be mindful that even though this is a service You're paying for, you should not treat people like they're your servants. first of all, I called and inquired about a gel x set and they said it would be $50 and then after they completed my service, they charged me 70. three days later two of my nails had already fallen off. It's been about two weeks and all of my nails have issues or have fallen off. normally when I get gel x they last at laaat 3 weeks and I have to go get them physically removed so this is probably the worst set I've ever had, I would go somewhere else read more

I went here today with my daughter. I do nails so I'm very picky. I must say Tim did the most amazing set on me. I honestly can't say I have had my nails look this fantastic in a few years. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon. It was about 1pm on this Sunday, before we got out of the purple tier. I'm saying that because there wasn't anyone in there. I came to get a pedicure and was the only customer in the salon my whole session. The older lady is the one who did my pedicure and she did well, gave me exactly what I asked for. I'm judging off my experience during a pandemic and so I know it won't always be like this, but it was really something else to be getting a pedicure while it was quiet. I'm not use to that. Im in the area and this place is a some minutes away from me and they will probably be my go to now. Definitely worth it! read more

This might be my go to salon from now on. Service was iffy but I loved how my nails turned out. Not the most friendly service for walk in. There was no receptionist, and it was a busy Thursday lunch time. All the technicians were busy and just turned and looked and me. Finally someone offered a greeting and told me to pick a color and wait 5 min. There were only 3 seats for waiting and they were occupied, so I stood awkwardly in the middle of the salon. I wished they had a price list up on the wall for me to peruse at this point. Eventually someone did offer me a seat. After starting the foot bath, they still didn't really do a "consultation" to find out what I wanted done. I had to ask for a price list. The foot bath water was too cold and I had to tell them that as well. From there on, I was super impressed with the attention to detail for both my French gel mani and acrylic pedi. The cuticles were pushed back just enough but not too much were removed. All the polish stayed within the lines, but reached right up to the edge. (I hate it when there is a gap from polish to skin.) for the French part, it was a little uneven when my technician finished, so she took the time to file it down flat and applied another top coat. Same attention to detail for the toes. The guy working on the pedicure couldn't get it precise enough so the lady doing the manicure took over to fix his mistakes without my asking. I added on paraffin for hands and feet as well and it was wonderful. Skin came out soft and silky. The manicure lasted for a good 2 weeks before I started noticing chips. At the third week it started looking a little tattered around the edges, but overall, this gel manicure lasted much longer than all the other ones I've had, since those usually completely peel off by the end of the second week. read more

Was visiting the area in early July and desperately wanted a gel mani. These are COVID times, and San Diego was on the watch list, so I knew the clock was ticking. Plaza took me and my boyfriend right away and did an excellent job with all sanitizing procedures. We felt super safe. But what I'm really writing about it how these gels have lasted! The photo is from TODAY, August 29th. Usually, my gels chip or peel from the bottom after a couple weeks, but a full 7ish weeks later I am now rocking this cute half moon style on both hands because this gel isn't going anywhere. This means it was expertly done, hence my 5 star rating! Thank you, Plaza! If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely stop by! read more

How the hell does this place have good reviews?! All I wanted was a basic mani/pedi, no polish. How can you get that wrong? This place is so concerned with turning people over quickly that they completely lose sight of details. Maybe they depend on polish and gel to cover up their crappy work. At the end of my appointment, I had thrashed cuticles that looked like I'd chewed on them, nails that were deeply scratched (due to careless filing and lack of buffing) hangnails that weren't there before, and toenails sharp enough to cut because they weren't filed well. It's like I paid them $50 to do my nails myself, because that's what I did-- I went home and had to redo my nails. And the only reason j walked into this shady place was because of the great reviews. I have never felt SO DUPED by good reviews. This place is 100% a waste of money. read more

Right in the middle of downtown I found this little gem. I'm from out of town so it's always a struggle to find salons that do a good job AND are clean. I was a walk in of course because I can never really plan ahead. They took me right away. I had a pedi and a refill on acrylic with a gel polish. At no point did I feel rushed or that they were just doing their job. She reshaped my nails and they look amazing compared to before (wouldn't have even known how bad my previous set was). My pedicure was amazing she took her time with the massages of each step. Just be aware of the cash only policy - although there's a free atm inside - I'm a credit card holder type. read more

I came here three weeks ago (I waited to write my review for a specific purpose). I had never been before, but the spot is a couple of blocks from my apartment. I had on a full set that was absolutely horrid, that I thought would need to be soaked off to be repaired. But thankfully I was wrong. Henry started working on my gel fill. I wanted a white and gold scheme, and he even went the extra mile to use white powder instead of gel polish. Let me tell you - that made a DIFFERENCE. It's been three weeks now, and my nails look like I got them done a week ago. No really. See the then and now photos. He was amazing. His meticulous eye for detail was impeccable and I didn't have to micromanage (yes I am that person) the filing or the shape and coverage of my nails. I wanted to cry. These jawns are beautiful. I'm only about to go get a fill because I'm tired of the colors myself. Otherwise. I could probably go another two weeks. Ivy did my gel pedicure and it also was nothing short of wonderful. I did all white and usually when I leave the chair, it's not as good as it appeared when I was sitting. But she left me feeling revived and entirely less repulsive than I felt initially with peeling polish. All of this amazing service and satisfaction for only $70. Mind you they did gel, the take off of the old gel polish, and cut downs. I'm entirely too pleased. Definitely returning. ______ Updating this review. I got a fill and gel polish again. This time, it didn't take three weeks to come off. This time, THE DAY AFTER my full set was done, two of my nails chipped. So I just had them removed. And my day old gel pedicure chipped... so no. I won't be returning. First time was a fluke. Highly disappointed. read more

Comparing this to the southeast... of course, a lot of details are totally different. I got the same thing I would get back home, but he was faster, seemed more educated about what he did but the amount of service was less. The massage chairs were half and the massage on a pedicure was not as adequate. However, the end result was ultimately better. I would recommend this salon not knowing what the norm is in California. read more

This has become my go to when I am in San Diego. My pedi was amazing this last visit! The shop is spotless and the techs are very nice. I'm happy Plaza Nails have stayed in business . My only recommendation for customers is arrive early to find parking. Unless somehow you can get validation for your ticket, it can be a bit on the expensive side to park in HP. read more

This is by far the best spot to come to at the Gaslamp. Prices are extremely reasonable, parking is easy as well, and the staff is amazing! Nancy and the rest of the crew have a gem here!! However, you get over that very quickly as everyone around you is doing the same thing. Hanna was the one who did my body scrub and she is one of the best that I've had. She was super gentle but really got in there and gave me a nice scrub. They have two different areas separated by men and women with a common area that we both share while wearing their provided uniform. They have a privates wet area that is separated by women and men. That's the area where you can shower and enjoy the Jacuzzi or the cold Plunge pool while being completely naked and getting the body scrubs. In the common area, they have a lounge where it's dimly lit calm and peaceful and you can just chill on the sofas. They also have 3 different saunas in the common area. They have light snacks, candy, water, and tea available. But would love to see more fresh fruits. Even though they share a large parking lot with the other businesses around them, it's very hard to find close parking nearby since they only have a few in front of their facility. Highly recommend getting there at least 30 minutes to an hour prior to your massage or body scrub time so that you can enjoy the wet area with the sauna and the Jacuzzis prior to getting your body scrub. I spent a good 3 hours there and I felt so relaxed after I was done.

The relaxation room set a great tone with complimentary tea and a lovely granola offering. Our therapists paid close attention to our needs throughout the 60 minutes, and the massage itself was exactly what an anniversary afternoon should be. To top it off, they surprised us with glasses of prosecco as we said our goodbyes. My only critique here was the locker room. Compared to other luxury spa experiences, the locker area felt noticeably small including the lockers themselves. The amenity offerings were quite basic -- shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a nail kit, and spray deodorant. Missing were the details that elevate a spa stay: shave kits, body lotion, face/hair products and toothbrush/toothpaste. For a property at this level, these extras matter. Overall, a wonderful anniversary experience and a solid 3.5/4 out of 5 from us. With a few upgrades this could easily be one of San Diego's best spa destinations.

She's now at Pier to Point down the street at the other end of Voltaire. I've already been there and signed up for multiple memberships. I highly recommend you do the same. While I appreciate the management's attempt to rectify some issues, the current quality simply does not match the premium price point. My friend and I booked our treatments at specific times online to maximize our time together, only to be told days later that the times were unavailable. In trying to resolve this, I discovered the spa had also changed my friend's appointments without notifying her. It took a 45-minute phone call and multiple follow-ups before a director finally stepped in to provide a day pass and an acoustic vibration meditation session to make amends. While I was grateful for the gesture, the meditation beds were unfortunately quite uncomfortable and didn't live up to the "state-of-the-art" description. For a spa that charges $200+ just for facility access, the upkeep was surprisingly poor. There were used towels strewn about the common areas, overflowing trash in the bathrooms, and when trying to locate an unused locker, myself and the staff member assisting me had to open several before finding a robe. The steam room was barely functioning with minimal to no steam produced. A large group of women in the solarium was incredibly loud (screaming and laughing) for a long period. While I'm glad they were enjoying themselves, multiple staff members walked by and never once stepped in to maintain the quiet, relaxing environment guests expect. While not part of the spa itself, the poolside service was notably slow; my friend waited an hour for her food and had to rush through it before her treatment. We were served without utensils and had to wait several more minutes for a server to return. I have long considered this one of the top two spas in San Diego, but after this experience, the value is no longer there. Management's effort to make it right was appreciated, but a luxury spa shouldn't require that much effort from the guest just to have a basic, clean, and coordinated experience. I'll be enjoying the other local luxury spa options moving forward.

But when a special occasion arose with a group of girlfriends, I resigned myself and just handed over my credit card. Kyoko, the main spa attendant, greeted us warmly and showed us around. She was a friendly and helpful presence throughout our visit. I got the 60 minute relaxation massage, and it was worth every penny. My masseuse, Jasmine, was excellent, from the moment she greeted me to when the message was over and she bid me farewell with a tiny cup of their fresh-squeezed orange elixir and a warm towel. Speaking of towels, so many towels everywhere--all cloth. Nary a paper towel to be seen, even in the bathrooms. Their robes were fluffy and luxurious, and the slide sandals were nice quality, no cheap flip flops here. On our visit there weren't that many other guests (we did get there later in the day), so it felt very tranquil and private. We availed ourselves to the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool before and after our treatments, and hung out in the well-appointed ladies lounge with some of the available snacks: almonds, dried apricots, and housemate oat bars that were really yummy. It was a rare treat for me and I enjoyed every minute! Don't forget to get your valet parking validated before you go.

Henry went above and beyond in doing the exact nails that I wanted. He even shaped them more than once and When I decided to do another shape, with a smile, he changed it completely.
