If you're in Bar Harbor, the Travelin Lobster is the lobster stand you need. We visited this great…read moreplace on our first night, we had lobster rolls and clam chowder that was exceptional, with generous portions and priced fairly. The employees were fun and they made the experience nicer. The next day it was time for lunch and my husband said lets go back to the Traveling Lobster, I said (and later regretted) no let's try somewhere else. We tried a place with a catchy lobster name and the teenage boy, behind the counter of the takeout as he handed us our change said, you're leaving me a tip - right? In unison we both said no. I added we don't tip workers at McDonalds, we're not tipping you and even if we did, we wouldn't tip you because of your demand, he walked away nonplussed, to add insult to injury the food was mediocre for the price. Later that afternoon we tried another lobster stand, and it was worse; the food was terrible for the price, we ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and there was not a shred of lobster in it, we ended up taking it back and getting our money. Starving, we went back to the Traveling Lobster and had another great meal, listened to trivia and left satisfied. What we learned is if a stand isn't busy or has few cars, don't bother, there's a reason. By all means go the Travelin Lobster, the parking lot is busy, the line moves fast and the food comes out fast and excellent, the employees don't attempt to shame you into tipping them and when you order lobster mac and cheese, you get plenty of lobster. I also learned that my sweet husband is sometimes right :).

Pricey but def worth it-- the lobster and crab rolls are absolutely jam packed with meat. Which one…read moreis better really just comes down to if you prefer lobster or crab. I think a small is def enough to fill up the average person (the size is misleading). The blueberry lemonade didn't have too much blueberry flavor to it but was still decent. The blueberry pie with blueberry ice cream is an absolute must order, one of the best blueberry pies I've had in my life. It's a very popular place so prob not the best option if you're in a rush. They do have a (single) bathroom which is nice.

Hurrah for 44 Degrees North! We visited the Millbridge, Cherryfield, Harrington area this week. Two…read moreweeks earlier, I tried to find restaurants via a Google search and got very little results. Two or three places listed weren't even open. So my expectations for dinner were low. We chose 44 Degrees North and boy were we surprised. Great dinner menu at the restaurant. The service was fast, friendly, and informative for visitors from away. We found the other diners friendly too. We ate here both nights and loved it twice. There are two decent breakfast places across the street.

We ordered the baked lobster dinner and while decent in taste of haddock stuffing in the baked whole lobster and size of it, it took entirely too long (35 minutes) , not because the kitchen was heavy on orders and lean on staff, it was audibly clear that there was way too much fooling around going on and not enough cooking. I worked in the oil and gas industry so cursing starts to become white noise to me, however, I felt uncomfortable for the elderly patrons and children present with all the F-bombs that were being announced from the kitchen and launched at the waitress. Clearly it is a favorite with locals (as evidence in the bar area) and I can see why with how great the servers/bartender are but the wait compounded by the inedible sides (a canned green bean, frozen veg mix with peppers that was intensely bitter and mashed potatoes that were clearly sitting in a warmer for too long just isn't worth a second trip. It was Saturday and apparently besides the slim pickings, everyone rolls up the sidewalk by 7 or 8 respectively so we went there by default, not design.
