After doing our morning hikes in Schoodic Peninsula, we came to the Hot Dog Cart for lunch. The elderly gentleman in front was so cute. He was very enthusiastic about his job and he was wearing a lobster hat. They are only opened from 11am-3pm. You are handed a slip to fill out to order, so we checked off the Fresh Lobster Roll with Lemon Mayo; 2 Quarter Pound All Beef Hotdogs, one with Hawaiian relish and sauerkraut, and the other with chili and cheddar cheese; and a Fried Haddock Sandwich. All the lobster rolls contain quarter pound lobster for $21.99. The lobster I've tried in Acadia have all been good. I preferred the beef hotdog with Hawaiian relish and sauerkraut, over the chilli with cheese. The cheese was not melted over the chili. Fried haddock was okay. read more

What a great little place to get a fresh lobster roll in the town of Winter Harbor. On Google it shows that the location is closed, but they are not. The same man Don, who is mentioned in reviews from two years ago is still there taking your order and wearing his lobster hat. You order at a walk up counter outside and take a seat also outside until they call your name. They are set up on the corner in front of what used to be another restaurant that is actually closed. I went inside to use the restroom and wash my hands, but the inside is all shut down and pretty smelly. There are a lot of tables undercover and also in the sun where you can sit and enjoy your lobster roll or hotdog. They also have blueberry pie and blueberry bread pudding, which I did not try but looked delicious. My friend got a fresh squeeze lemonade that she enjoyed, I had the fresh brew iced tea, which probably needed a Splenda, but I don't think they had any. If you like unsweetened tea, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Overall everyone who worked there was very friendly, especially Don who takes your orders. read more

After an exhaustive travel to get to our summer vacation VRBO, I was eager to find a nearby restaurant and get my lobster on. Two options in the Schoodic Peninsula: Fisherman's Galley (Winter Harbor) or Lunch on the Wharf (Corea). As we needed a few things, we decided to venture to Winter Harbor where we found the Hot Dog Cart (i.e., the extremely scaled down offering of Fisherman's Galley). The gentleman who took our order was friendly and helpful and his two colleagues (one serving prepared or cold offerings, the other at the fryer) worked quickly to deliver the meal. The place had about five different families during our lunch visit and allowed seating outside and inside Fisherman's Galley. You can expect plasticware, paper hot dog tray/boat for your meal, and paper towel rolls for napkins. The lobster roll was chock full of perfectly cooked, tender lobster. Most venues and recipes I see, however, suggest the lobster be in a mayonnaise dressing. The Hot Dog Cart's offering was literally lobster meat in a traditional split bun (+$1 for drawn butter). Our family also ordered a haddock sandwich, vegan dog, 1/4 lbs. beef hot dog, double order fries, one coleslaw, two pickles, and four plastic bottle drinks. We enjoyed it all! For what I wanted to taste and the lunch our family needed, the Hot Dog Cart delivered. It's definitely worth a visit, but be prepared to pay. The four meals I described above with drinks + tip was over $100! I'm happy to provide the hardworking trio and hope Fisherman's Galley can find the staff to fully reopen in the future. read more

This is the most overpriced place we have ever eaten ! It's one thig to pay $29 for a lobster roll but you would hope it tasted good. We had two rolls, one fry, one water, one soda, bread pudding and it with a tip, it came to $102, unreal! Would never eat here again. The food was not spectactular in any way. read more

Try it, absolutely! If you are looking for a three-star Michelin fine dining restaurant, you are in the wrong state. But if you want simple, unpretentious good food served by people who couldn't be any nicer, eat here. The family that owns and runs this place used to run the fancy sit down restaurant behind the hot dog stand. They worked very long days and nights there, the whole family, until Covid came and wiped them out along with the rest of planet earth. They simplified and switched to a limited menu outside. No late nights, no 30-person staff to worry about supporting. It's like why all the hippies left their Wall Street jobs and moved to Vermont after Woodstock. The staff was very friendly and it was great to eat outdoors. You come for the lobster roll - good, even if pricey. But for the money, it didn't live up. Lobster roll with 1/4 lb lobster meat with butter ($1.00 extra) was over $25. The haddock sandwich was a premade (not fresh) breaded fish on a bun. No toppings. And the coleslaw was also premade restaurant style. $66.40 for the lobster roll, haddock sandwich, slaw, fries, lemonade and bottled water. Small suggestion to owners - you tout a homemade blueberry pie. Consider also making your own slaw and your own breaded haddock (it's a ME fish!). Don't charge for butter on a lobster roll. Offer a salad (fresh) on the menu to put the lobster or fish on. The simple roadside feel is great. Make this a place people think of to come back to first. read more

Who would think you'd get the BEST lobster roll at a hot dog cart? Well this is the place! We just finished biking the loop road (12 miles?) and had an hour to kill before the ferry to BH arrived. We wanted to sit outside and have a beer so figured we'd head to Winter Harbor. In front of us was a big hill..ugh...we were so tired after riding, not another hill! We look to our right and there is the hot dog stand with a gentleman wearing a lobster hat and waving to passerbys. We head over - fresh lobster rolls $22 and craft beer. Ok, we are staying. After a very mediocre mid-morning avocado toast in Bar Harbor, I needed a bit more sustenance. These downeast climes don't offer too much to plant-based eaters, unfortunately; so pickings are slim, even in an upscale, progressive town like BH. As we were heading to the mainland portion of Acadia National Park, I pulled out the Yelp! to see what, perhaps, might be available for us herbivores out in the Winter Harbor area. Well, naturally, we're in lobstah country, so pickings were way slimmer than across the narrows! That said, The Hot Dog Cart popped-up with a vegan dog and kraut! (They use, perhaps, Field Roast sausage? That's what it looked and tasted like to me, anyway.) It was perfect: Two in our party got their lobster roll fixes, while us plant-heads got some good eatin', too...! (And, of course, paired with French fries! Can't complain!!) The cashier always greets you and let's you know that they have won an award for their lobster, and they do live up to it. The lobster is so tender, flavorful and buttery. The fries are good and even their coleslaw is delicious. They have very refreshing drinks and even though we didn't have the hotdogs, they did smell delicious. Mary and the lobster hat guy running the FOH here truly are some of THE most warmest welcoming hosts on the peninsula, practically beckoning you in to stop for a quick bite of delicious lobster, without all the fuss of cracking and picking it yourself. Here they have lobster rolls served two ways, if I remember correctly, cold with mayonnaise and warm with butter. Such a nice thing to be able to choose your preference. and a nice selection of beers, snacks, and fried things This may not be the cheapest place to get a lobster roll in a 20 mile radius, and some of the menu prices have not reflected the recent dip in dock prices, however, this is hands-down, the best place *the freshest* tasting lobster roll IMO and a bit heftier than Corea Lunch on the wharf's roll. I always take and recommend our visitors stop here as it's only about 10 minutes from our home. One small minor recommendation I would make is for them to invest in more umbrellas for shade for the few hot days we get up this way :) read more

Incredibly sweet tender lobster roll and gourmet hot dogs! My husband loves their 1/4 lb. brown hot dog with Hawaiian relish and a touch of spicy brown mustard. Beware that their blueberry pie is so good it will "feel like another"! Quick service. Consistently great food. Gorgeous view of the harbor.
