Your typical community theatre: the Board hire their friends or direct the plays themselves -- few if any on the creative team have theatrical training. Musically, their shows are often quite good. A pleasant surprise. Theatrically, this is possibly one of the deadliest companies I have ever seen. The tendency among certain board members to pressure directors to cast board members' children is a dark and unpleasant stain on the company's name -- a habit for which this group has long been notorious. Oddly, this seems to be the only local group inhabiting Livermore's new performing arts center -- perhaps because they are the only local company who can afford the $2,000.00 daily rent. Is there nobody in Livermore with the theatrical savvy to step up and smack these people back to Amador Valley High where they belong? read more

We drove from Oakland to see a matinee screening of The Odyssey on 70mm IMAX. We had preordered…read moretickets in advance and were excited to see the film in this format. When we arrived to the theater and the employee scanned our ticket, he said that the "ticket had been refunded" and that there had been some sort of glitch with the website. We found out from a manager that the website had listed two IMAX screenings of the film at conflicting times and our screening was the unlucky one that was cancelled. Then we were pushed off to the side so they could take other people's tickets. Finally we were able to speak with a manager, who refunded the refreshments I preordered online. While I'm glad that we got that money back, I was disappointed with the customer service experience. The employees we interacted with were either helpless or indifferent and the manager barely interacted with us other than to look at the details in our phone. Once the refund was processed, he just turned to other employees to chat. We received nothing but a minimal "we're sorry but it was rescheduled", no apologies for the inconvenience caused, or offers to make it right or encourage us to return. (Even an offer of helping us reschedule to the soonest available screening would have been appreciated.) We found this whole experience to be frustrating and disappointing. The only notice the theater sent was an automated message stating the ticket had been refunded with no additional context or reason for the refund. The email could easily be missed or filtered for this reason. (My wife had just ordered tickets for a different movie that had been refunded so we didn't notice that there were two refund emails until we arrived to the theater.) The icing on the cake was that the automated refund did not include the $4/ticket service fee we were charged to prebook. Management refunded that for us when we pressed, but the fact we had to ask was unacceptable. It should have been included when the theater cancelled the screening. Given that this film is one of the most popular/anticipated movies of the summer -- one that hundreds of customers paid over $20 per ticket in advance to attend -- I find it somewhat appalling that Regal could not be bothered to send customers an email explaining what was going on and offering to make it right. It's alarming that a glitch of this scale happened to begin with, as this error seems to have occurred for multiple scheduled screenings based on other Yelp reviews. Because of this incident, we will not be returning to Regal theaters to see movies. I don't fault the individual employees for the incident - it's clearly something that happened on the corporate level, but the customer experience we received was lackluster, and I felt that employees could have been better debriefed/prepped by management for how to handle this situation, since it clearly impacted hundreds of customers. We planned in advance and booked tickets ahead of schedule so we could see this film in comfortable seats, but now screenings of this film are sold out for the next week unless we want to crane our necks in the front row.

I was going to buy a bottle soda and a bag of penut m&ms and was horrified when it was rung up as $16 then put the soda back and they said the candy alone will be $7, put the candy back, the movie was long so I decided to buy the $7 candy, new person at the register and he tells me the candy is $8.75 plus tax when he saw my ring and then was rude to me when I asked why the price is now $8.75 and not $7. Go to the dollar tree beforehand and sneak it in, do not give them money and reward their price goauging.

The only downside was the lines; they were crazy long this year, and there seemed to be a much younger crowd (lots of middle schoolers). It might be cool if they made it 18+ to help keep the lines more manageable. Most of my night was spent waiting, but honestly, it's still one of my favorite Halloween traditions. Maybe next year they can add a couple more haunted houses to spread things out!

In fact, I had a lot of great feedback from the guests that this was one of the funnest birthday parties they've been to! There's a selection of activities. The celebrant opted for t-shirt making, vinyl stickers, and clay making. Upon entrance, the team already had table cloths, simple balloons, and birthday decors. They also had cups, utensils, and plates readily available. Check in was smooth - I encourage guests who choose to celebrate here to make sure to write on your invitation to come on time since we waited for majority of the party to come to begin. (They were gracious with family and friends being on Filipino time!) The team was phenomenal and hands on. They knew how to guide really rowdy kids into structure and they didn't skip a beat. They took time to individually teach and check in on each child. After shirts, we made our way upstairs for making stickers and the kids had such a blast. They came back down for their clay projects and finished the day with food. The party was 2 hours and I felt like it was the perfect amount of time. It flew by fast and the crew was quick with clean up as well. We definitely will be returning! They do have summer camps and if we lived closer, we would definitely be coming more often. The studio manager, Joe was very responsive, easy to work with, flexible and accommodating. The venue offers several creative, hands on activities that entertained all our guests, ages 7 to 18. The staff helping during the party were all great and helpful to all of our guests. Would definitely recommend Create It for a new and fun party venue.

The Chabot Theater has been around for 75 years. With only 1 movie screen, it has been visited by long-time residents and newcomers who share a passion for film and reasonable pricing. They may not have reserved seating or the best state of the art surround sound systems, but that's what makes it unique and what a 1990-2000s movie theater used to be like. Also, they feature local commercials, bands/music, and upcoming events before the movie starts, which is great to see the support for the community! One of the best things about this theater is that you can purchase tickets for 1/2 the price every Tuesday! As of August 2025, 1/2 priced tickets will be $6/each (Regular: $12), which is a steal these days and especially when you can watch some of the biggest blockbuster films! Keep in mind, if you are a child or senior, regular pricing is $10 (still a bargain!), but Tuesday pricing will remain $6/each. You can purchase both tickets and concessions together in the lobby, which makes the process simple and smooth. Parking is relatively easy - no dedicated parking lot, just the street so adhere to the posted signage. Most street parking is 2 hour limit, but if you're okay taking a short walk, find some side or cross streets to extend the limit especially if you're catching a film that's longer than 2 hours. If you're looking for a place to host an event, watch party, or birthday, they do that here (pricing on website). If you're looking for something fun to do during the week nights, they host trivia nights (free for everyone), family movie nights (tickets required), and karaoke nights (free for everyone) too! My hometown theater! I love going to catch a movie at the…read morechabot! It feels like home! Once you walk in you're greeted by the concession stand and where you buy your ticket. There is always someone who is nice and happy you're there working and it makes you really feel like you're back to where you grew up. I always buy food/drink to help support. The ticket prices are the cheapest around (especially on half off tuesdays) and they even give free popcorn after the last showing lets out if they have any left! The seats in the lower half are probably the original seats (which makes it more nostalgic for me) and probably aren't the most comfortable but the upper half has been renovated with tables and chairs so if you want to eat actual food you can do so comfortably! They also host an array of events so there is always something going on!

You walk in on the top floor, then go down the stairs to all the tables, and the different spreads of food on both sides. They've got tables inside & outside too. The spread had a lot to offer including, an omelette bar, a stir fry station, roasted turkey, prime rib, fish, chicken, veggies, salad bar, cheese & meats, & a separate room with food for the kids, including sliders, pizza, & chicken tenders. The views from the outside tables are tremendous. I can see why this is an exclusive neighborhood & golf club.
