I had a great experience with Santa Rita Animal Care Clinic. They were able to get my cat in quickly for dental extractions when most places were booked weeks out. The staff are wonderful, compassionate, and made us feel very confident that our senior cat, Smokey, was in great hands. Our cat had four teeth removed. His dental abscess recovered very well post op, and the pricing for the procedure and overall costs were extremely reasonable. My dog developed an abscess under his eye and we brought him here on a Saturday as his usual vet hospital wasn't open. Dr. Kumar was gentle and good, gave him a pain shot, cleaned up the abscess, and prescribed him antibiotics. A week later we went back for a follow-up check and the doctor pronounced him good and explained to us that his eye would continue to look puffy for a few weeks. Sure enough, it continued to heal and he's now back to normal. We really like Dr Kumar and will switch our vet to him! read more

We started off with good experience and then found out that the vet here is actually an inexperienced junior vet who couldn't diagnose and cure infections and allergies without running a whole lot of expensive tests. We have found a better vet who diagnosed and mediated my pet's issues. read more

Our cat has issues with her rear end. We decided to take her in for a check up. Thank goodness we took her to this clinic. They were open on a Sunday which is great. The rates were very reasonable considering we're on a budget & don't have pet insurance. We paid for antibiotics, sanitary shave and a check up. The vet tried to upsell a bunch of other tests which we opted out of. If Vanessa (I think that was her name) is there she was very attentive and helpful. She took great care of our cat who is already starting to feel better. We'll take her here more regularly for a sanitary shave before it gets out of hand. read more

I've been coming here for two years now and I have never been more impressed by a Vet office. Every time I come in it's great vibes and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. All my questions and concerns are answered in depth and with my dogs best intentions first. One of my dogs Teddy is a difficult patient at the vet due to past traumas. Vanessa their tech has been exceptional in providing care for my dog even though he's very difficult. Their doctors are knowledgeable and cut right to the chase for what's best for your pet. Ted had to have multiple teeth extracted and I've never been more impressed with the communication and the care provided post op. Big thank you to Dr Bhatt. I was resigned to heading to one of the Emergency Vets in the area but when I went online to find one I saw Santa Rita Animal Care, which I didn't even know was there! I came across this establishment as I was in need of having my pet's teeth cleaned. This is a "fairly" new local business, they have good appointments availability and they did a good job in marketing which drew my attention to them. I am up for supporting my local community and I thought the services I was in search of were pretty standard so I made the call. Staff that answered the phone was very friendly. I had some questions, they were answered so I decided to book my pet's appointment. First appointment visit consisted of a first time visit (discounted) exam. We met with the vet, vet recommended blood work in preparation for the dental cleaning that was being planned for two weeks ahead. I specifically asked if the bloodwork would be good for then and vet stated "yes". When the blood test work was ready (in house) Vet stated that my dogs platelets count were extremely low. So I asked if those results were the same the day of surgery, then what would be the protocol. Vet indicated that they would administer some sort of vitamin k to stop/ prevent excess bleeding. So we moved forward with scheduled appointment and I was also sent home with antibiotics as vet indicated that my pets teeth were in really bad condition. Appointment day is here, I drop my dog off, then 30 minutes later I get a call that blood work has been drawn AGAIN and Vet did not like the results and she did not feel comfortable moving forward with the dental procedure but recommended to run additional test, in which I declined. I drove over to pick my pet up. When I arrived I was billed for the bloodwork I did not and should not have had to pay for as what was the purpose of doing it 2 weeks back?! Vet claimed that it was charges because the dental cleaning was not done and it would have been covered if the procedure was done. Vet again wanted to run additional blood work and at that point I didn't feel comfortable. I requested for this office to submit a referral to a specialty hospital, in which they did not as they did not know how to do. I feel that the overall experience with this vet doctor left me at unease as there was a communication barrier and things/ incidents were referenced on my pets notes that did not pertain to him. I shared and explained my experiences with my other pets and the extent of what I have done to make sure they get the most professional and best treatment available. In conclusion, my gut was right. I moved forward with finding a specialist, scheduled an appointment, they ran the blood work and my dog's platelet count is perfectly normal. Sadly this is about a grand later and let's not forget that dental work hasn't been done yet. These types of establishments are boutique clinics that offer services at a higher cost than other places and that is of convenience for some people. So, If you need to get vaccines, flea med, nail trimming or just a well pet visit; this is a great place. But for advanced specialty vet needs, I do not recommend it. read more

Just went and was with a Dr. Mak (longer last name but everyone just said that). He was really kind to my dog Zurich and showed patience with him. He showed knowledge of my dog's breed and was able to answer all of my concerns. Gabby helped me when I arrived and was welcoming and showed that she remembers patients and their owners. She was efficient and answered any questions I had. She was able to give my dog his allergy shot with complete ease and he barely (if at all) reacted. read more

We have had nothing but positive experiences bringing our cats to Santa Rita Animal Care. The staff are friendly, welcoming and compassionate. They are always willing to accommodate our pets and their individual needs. We have 3 senior cats and 1 kitten, all of our pets are handled with care by every staff member from check in to check out. They were so helpful when we brought our 11lb yorky/pom stoned out his mind pup!!! We did not know this because he ate so much we thought we were going to lose him. 2k later and a very scary and expensive lesson of teaching our 2yr old baby to "leave it"!!! Be careful walking your dogs over by the McDonald's across the street! Whoever dropped the stuff, it was really good! It almost took my dog out! With all that said, this is a great place to bring your dog! They were so quick taking him in and finding out what was wrong. I recently took my dog to the vet because he was having difficulty with bowel movements. Since it had also been a few years since his last visit, I requested a general checkup at the same time. After the exam, I was advised that the issue seemed serious and my dog would need surgery. I went ahead with the procedure, which cost about $2,600 and required a month of recovery. During his stay he made quite a mess, but the staff handled it kindly, and I appreciated their patience. Unfortunately, only a few days later he showed no improvement, so I scheduled another appointment. On the day of that visit, his condition was so bad that he couldn't even stand up--we had to carry him, and given his 90‑pound weight, this caused us to arrive 25 minutes late. Despite explaining that he was in critical condition and pleading for an exception, we were turned away. We then rushed him to IronHorse for emergency care, where the doctors discovered he had cancer. Sadly, we had to put him down, which cost another $1,400. While I understand policies around late arrivals, I was deeply hurt by how strictly it was enforced in this situation. It felt like a cold response at such a desperate time, and I'm also troubled that the cancer wasn't recognized earlier, leading to such an outcome after thousands of dollars in treatment. read more

My baby has to do teeth clean. They quote 170 per teeth for pulling. But when I got bill was 380 for 3 root. I never know this. When I talk to DR he start to argue with me. I told him American medical field just get worse they care about money more than patients. He also did some radiology I don't even think need to do. First he said 11 teeth need pull than we negotiate to 7 . Pet advocates only charge $5 pull teeth I am not sure how much now . But if you charge 170 -380 per teeth when the dog in sleep how do you know is necessary they need pull those teeth or just try to make money. read more

The staff here have exceeded my expectations!! My poor baby fell ill this weekend and stopped eating and was vomiting. The staff here seen us with urgency and was able to get us in the same day. Long overdue review!! I first encountered this clinic during an emergency, 50 miles away from home! I had picked up my dog from a boarding plus training facility, only to find him profusely bleeding with no signs of stopping. Me and my partner ran to the closest clinic nearby and when I say this place is heaven sent- I MEAN IT! The staff here was so helpful and kind to me and my doggo. They performed emergency surgery and got my dog the help he desperately needed. This clinic did so well, reasonable with pricing, and just an overall good vibe that I have made the 50+ mile trip to get my dog seen here whenever I have a concern or if he needs medical attention. I also have the highest praise doctor Mac. Dr. Mac is truly an amazing soul that takes pride in his work- and you can tell he takes real concern with any animal that comes in. He leaves no stone unturned and is very thorough with this work. Can't forget the front desk staff and all the nurses that make this possible too! Just an overall amazing clinic. My 14-year-old dog needed her Bordetella booster, and the vet we were going to in San Ramon was so busy, that they couldn't even see her for a walk-in/out vaccine appointment. So I searched around and found Santa Rita. When I took her in, the front desk technician greeted us, took some time to welcome and say hello to my dog, and treated us like family. All throughout her exam, Dr. Bhatt was patient and considerate with her, taking time to talk and soothe her when she got herself worked up a bit. He took the time to listen to my concerns and asked questions about her health, going over the costs of the tests and vaccines he was recommending based on her age. For the first time in the past 3 years, I finally feel like she's getting the car she really needs. Thanks to Dr. Bhatt , we caught her kidney failure in the early parts of Stage 2 failure, treatable with dietary changes with no meds required. I'm grateful beyond measure. read more

I recently visited Santa Rita Animal Care and it is a very nice brand new, clean facility. The staff is very friendly, but I didn't love our experience. Our dog has been limping and his regular vet was out sick so I decided to get him seen at SRAC. They were able to see him the same day, but our visit just felt like a routine exam. It felt like I was being pushed to sedate and get X-rays of our dog without a whole lot of context or explanation. I'm sure at the end of the day he needed X-rays, but I felt it should have come with a detailed explanation of why/what are we looking for/what's the next step. read more

You all used to have one tech that was a gentleman and a tall blonde girl who very helpful when you first opened up I think he had blonde hair. but i don't see him there anymore. Now with vets here it just seems like they're interested in helping but it always comes at a high price. More expensive than others in Pleasanton and Livermore.
