I highly recommend SAGE Veterinary Hospital! My 3-year-old cat, Loki, had been throwing up all weekend, and when some of his vomit turned black, I knew I needed to get him seen right away. I took him to SAGE without an appointment, and they saw us within about 25 minutes. Every team member we interacted with, including the veterinarian, was incredible--kind, thorough, and very transparent. They walked me through all of the recommended testing and the costs before doing anything. They even performed one test at no charge. At one point, they came back and said there was one additional blood test they could run, but they were on the fence about whether it was really necessary, so they explained the cost and let me decide. I really appreciated that. They felt 99% confident Loki had a stomach ulcer and specifically did NOT recommend jumping immediately to an expensive ultrasound. Instead, they suggested treating him at home first and doing the ultrasound only if he didn't improve. We went home with medications, and they even gave me prescription limited-ingredient food to take home at no charge. To top it off, they called the next day to check on Loki and see how he was doing. I was incredibly impressed with the care Loki received and, just as importantly, with how thoughtful and transparent they were about costs and testing. I would absolutely go back to SAGE--although I really hope I don't have any more cat emergencies anytime soon! read more

Great, compassionate care from the internal medicine team at Sage Dublin. Dr. Perez performed a CT/Rhinoscopy on my senior pup to diagnose what was unfortunately a nasal tumor. During the time of the consultation, she took the time to educate me and explain the process/possibilities surrounding my dog's symptoms. I felt that I could trust her with my dog's care. The procedure we had there went smoothly and although we had bad news in the end, we felt taken care of. My dog, Peaches, was referred to SAGE by her veterinarian in Fresno after she began experiencing bloody discharge from her vulva. Despite their best efforts, her veterinarian was unable to determine the cause because they didn't have the specialized equipment needed to perform an endoscopy and take a closer look. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment available at SAGE was a week away, which I completely understood given the demand for specialty care. In the meantime, Peaches needed immediate attention, so I took her to an emergency veterinary hospital in Fresno. There, they sedated her and discovered a foxtail deeply embedded in her vaginal wall. Although they removed it, they couldn't say with certainty that it was the sole cause of her symptoms and strongly recommended that we keep our appointment with the internist at SAGE. I'll admit that after reading some of the reviews online, I was worried that I might be pressured into unnecessary procedures or expensive treatments. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed. SAGE truly operates like a full-service hospital, with the equipment and specialists needed to address complex medical issues all under one roof. Most importantly, the care and professionalism we received were exceptional. Dr. Miller was absolutely amazing. He came into the room already familiar with Peaches' medical history and had clearly taken the time to thoroughly review her records before meeting us. That level of preparation immediately put me at ease. After examining Peaches, Dr. Miller explained that she appeared to be in very good health. He discussed the option of performing additional diagnostic procedures to investigate further and provided a detailed cost estimate. While the procedure was expensive, it was understandable given its complexity. What I appreciated most was his honesty. He told us that, based on her exam and improvement, he didn't feel additional procedures were necessary at that time. Instead, he recommended monitoring her closely and reassured us that if the bleeding returned, we could contact him directly and he would make himself available. His honesty, transparency, and genuine concern for Peaches meant so much to me. Rather than pushing unnecessary testing, he helped us make an informed decision that was truly in our dog's best interest. We also discussed some ongoing digestive issues Peaches has experienced over the years. Dr. Miller offered helpful recommendations, sent us home with food samples to try, and even offered to write a prescription should we decide to switch her diet. As pet parents, we all want veterinarians who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Dr. Miller and the entire team at SAGE exceeded my expectations in every way. * We rushed our dog to Sage Emergency in Dublin after he choked on a dental treat that got stuck. The X-rays showed that it was lodged at the junction between his esophagus and stomach. Dr. Beth Lieblick assessed everything quickly and chose the least invasive option first. After anesthesia, she was able to push the blockage down into his stomach so he could digest it naturally instead of going straight to a major surgery. Our dog stayed overnight for monitoring and came home the next morning safe and stable. Communication was clear the entire time, and the team was professional, calm, and genuinely kind during a very stressful situation. * In terms of cost, this is emergency care, so it is expensive. The initial diagnostic alone was around 1300 dollars. With bloodwork, X rays, anesthesia, the procedure, overnight monitoring, and medications, the estimate initially went up to 14000 dollars. The final total ended up being about 6600 dollars after adjustments. Even knowing emergency care costs more, it is still a financial shock when you are facing a possible life threatening situation for a family member. * We are giving 4 stars. The doctor and team absolutely deserve recognition for their professionalism and friendliness. The only reason we are taking off one star is the price. While we understand emergency care is costly, the numbers can feel overwhelming. Our advice is to get pet insurance if possible. If a bill in the thousands or potentially over ten thousand would be difficult, it is worth researching emergency options ahead of time. I was told the antibiotic medicine I got prescribed on 5/8/2026 (only 5 days 10 dose supply) at the clinic will last till I got the online pharmacy refill, however they didn't approve my online prescription request until 5 days later. I request on 5/9/2026 and they don't approve until 5/13/2026, I didn't receive the medicine until 5/15/2026 and had to pay for expedited shipping. The cost of the medicine is almost three times more from clinic. The chewy online pharmacy is only $33.62 while they charge $105.46 for the exact same bottle. Due to this medicine is antibiotic to prevent developing of resistance towards the antibiotic, I had to drove out midnight for an hour to their clinic and spent another $105.46 for one bottle of the same antibiotic that would cost me only $33.62. I feel I should get reimbursed for that additional cost that could have bought two more bottles. It's already not easy and expensive to treat you fur babies with cancer, the clinic is making huge profit on their prescriptions. SAGE staff was here when I had to take my fur baby here for medical assistance. I felt like I was able to trust the doctors here in their work and words of advice. It was one of those times where I needed to find help during an odd time of the evening and luckily these guys were not too far from home. We ended up not going through with the surgery regarding a broken bone around her neck as it was a new type of situation the doctors had never seen or done before. They told me that a surgery would not necessarily be needed in order for her to keep living. I didn't want to take the chance of something scary happening and since she was still able to do every day things, I knew to just make sure she had no trouble eating and was very careful to feed her in small portions / pieces of food. read more

Sage is an absolute scam. We brought our 6-month-old puppy that we just got in after she injured her knee trying to jump on the bed, and were told she needed surgery. Since we had just gotten her and didn't yet have pet insurance, we paid for the expensive procedure entirely out of pocket. After her surgery, we carefully followed all post-op instructions, including the recommendation to walk her 3 minutes per day after 4 weeks of rest. Despite doing everything they advised, the pins in her knee began to protrude. When we brought her back, we were told she needed a second surgery because the first had failed. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff blamed us, saying we hadn't let her rest enough, even though we followed their guidance exactly. Being as though we could not afford a second surgery and after them trying to negotiate with us for 45 minutes, they agreed to give a small discount then, they flatly told us "no more discounts from this point forward" on a recorded phone call despite the failure of the first surgery and the obvious distress we were going through. The second surgery, done by a different doctor, involved going in through a different area. Second place of incision while still recovering from the first. Now she has two huge scars on her leg but not only that, when they were unwrapping her paw, they cut her paw and her leg out of pure carelessness and even admitted to it on the phone but just brushed it off like it was nothing. Meaning four scars on her leg just from this vet. Two of them avoidable. Because they were so awful, our puppy went through another surgery by a different vet that ended up working. This clinic has been a financial and emotional nightmare. They will up charge you significantly, push for overnight visits to charge more even if not necessary, show little compassion for financial hardship, and worst of all, deflect blame onto pet owners instead of taking accountability for failed procedures. They are a cash grab business and not for the well being of your pets. I would never trust Sage with any of my pets again, and I strongly caution other pet owners to avoid this clinic. This might be just another review but now going on Reddit and speaking to other pet owners, unfortunately, this isn't the first time. The experience has felt exploitative, careless, and deeply unprofessional. Horrible! read more

I booked an appointment with Sage for my dog to be seen by one of their orthopedic specialist. The staff that I spoke with over the phone was extremely helpful however, one in the office, I felt like the doctor was trying to upsell me. I had my dogs records and previous scans sent prior to his appointment but the doctor was unable to access them so they needed new scans. Of course once they took the new scans they were all of a sudden able to access the ones sent from the other vets office. While I was given a diagnosis for my dog, once that happened, I felt as if the doctor and staff were insensitive to the fact I couldn't afford to pay over 20k. Once they found that out they were not interested in helping! Be careful if you're bringing your pet here. They are money hungry! read more

Brought my cat into Sage Friday night as he was not feeling well. After running tests was told he should stay overnight for observation/treatment and would need an ultrasound as the xray did not show anything conclusive. That night as I am checking out one of the staff members tells me they would have to call a specialist the next morning to do the ultrasound so after the procedure is done they would call me with an update. Agreeing with their recommendation I agreed to pay $6500 for the visit and the next day procedure. The assistant said with additional medication the cost could go to $8200 or higher depending on the finding. I should have asked for a list of procedures that were done and a breakdown of costs, but at that moment I was more concerned with the wellbeing of my family member. I called the next morning around 8am to check how my cat is doing. The person said the veterinarian is doing their rounds now so someone would call me back an hour or two later. I receive a phone call around noon and was told I would have to pay an additional $4500 for the ultrasound and with additional tests they recommended would in total be around $15,000. When questioned what was included in the $6500, I received a response of, "oh that was included." When asked why the ultrasound was not done yet, they said a specialist would need to be called as it was the weekend. When I told them that last night someone said that it would be done the next day, they said, "not sure why someone would say that?" I tell them that I want to pick up my cat to bring to another location. Upon arrival an assistant brings me my cat and promptly asks my to sign a waiver. When I asked who I spoke with over the phone that quoted me $4500 for the ultrasound, the assistant said the veterinarian. When I tell them to refund me the cost it suddenly became $1100. I told them if it was $1100 I wanted to go through with the ultrasound , BUT since I told them I wanted to go to another clinic, putting the iv in and what not back on him would cost more. At this point I feel like I am getting taken advantage of so I wound up leaving. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing what procedures were done to only get a email with a charge of $6500 minus the cost of ultrasound $1100. Bottom line this place seems more interested in taking your money than the health of your pet. I would highly recommend avoiding this clinic. read more

My girl dog was sick when I came back from a San Diego trip... We took her not knowing it was a one way trip. The vet student from NY was cool. My vet was too standoffish which was not good but the young man from NY (I am from NY) made up for it. Price is price and I knew it was a one way trip we tried to see if it was possible...I was given my options after my girl's evaluation was not good. I gladly paid for it as it was a fair price to pay for my girl and her cremation and such. I wish there was more selection regarding urns...The few they had were hideous. Still, I like that they were brass. I have a similar one for my Akita but much more attractive and ornamented. It was a rough day. The staff up front was nice all through out... One note, that vet student when I asked gave me a nice jar for a cut of my girl's hair...I used to call it chicken spots since she was a blue healer mix. I have a small cut of her hair in that jar and hold it lovingly still. That saved the review for Sage from being a 3 to a 5...That young man made it more personal and that jar a huge life long memento of my girl Allie...Thank you young man and do not lose that bed side manner. read more

I am so angry at this place. They are nothing more than a car sales lot. The doctor my cat saw before basically told the receptionist that he would call me back after he see's all his scheduled appointments then he would call back. This is after I said my cat is actively having a GI Bleed. They made me feel like crap that I won't pay $6000 dollars for a GI scope. They mention a trial of steroids. Now, he won't prescribe them. So, my cat has to be put down even thou she was playing this morning. I don't recommend this place to anyone. They won't have time for you if you don't pay out thousands of dollars. I really can't express how thankful I am to SAGE Dublin. Especially Taylor, Dr. Lieblick, and I am so sorry but I forgot the nurse's name! We had been to VEG San Ramon twice last week and at our last visit, we were told that we might need to think about making a difficult decision. This traumatized me and my partner. We had both been crying for days. We noticed blood in our dog's diarrhea after he had been going every 20-30 minutes for the last 5 hours. This is after the second visit at VEG. We know diarrhea is a possibility after a stressful visit, but were advised to seek care if blood was present. At first, I called IronHorse because VEG referred us there for internal medicine. They let us know that they actually don't have internists and referred us to SAGE Dublin. When I called, they said it could totally be normal given how much diarrhea he's been having, but let us know it could be a concern being that the diarrhea hadn't gotten better over the last few days. We walked in with barely any wait (it was Monday around 7 AM I think). I felt like the nurse and doctor asked us a lot more questions than VEG did, not only about his current condition, but about also his history. Dr. Lieblick let us know that his heart sounded pretty similar to what's noted on his last cardiologist appointment. She said they could do another ultrasound and bloodwork, but didn't find it necessary as Butters seemed stable and getting better. She was very informative and offered carvacrol, a diarrhea test, and a diarrhea antibiotic which was not offered to us at VEG San Ramon. They also called the next day to check on us! And let us know the first part of his results. They don't know how much relief that one visit brought us. This is no hate on VEG as I know they played a big part in his recovery and did their best with the information they had, but after they told us that we might have to make a difficult decision, I don't know that I would go to VEG again. I'd be a total mess right now if I put him to rest at VEG that day. Thank you so much to the team at SAGE Dublin for taking care of Butters! We also had a visit in 2022, where they discovered Butters had polycystic kidneys. The specialist advised us that he did not need surgery thankfully. And I remember how sweet the nurse was to us when he had to be hospitalized overnight while we waited for the doctor to check his kidney ultrasound. She even sent us a picture of him! After seeking emergency care over the years at different facilities, I'd say that SAGE Dublin is our go-to for emergency care. I really really can't thank them enough. read more

Taylor Eisele the receptionist is wonderful. We brought in our Labrador dog Wrangler because he was not eating and without an appointment.Taylor was so professional and caring. She kept us updated when Wrangler will be seen. When it was time to pay Taylor was so patient and helped us and gave us our military discount. It was a nice experience and we would like to come back to Sage Dublin because of Taylor Eisele. You see, those people in front office make a huge deal of difference. Dr Keo was kind of curt didn't really make me feel too comfortable but she does know what she is doing. She immediately switched his renal diet to hydrolisized renal gave medicine to take and suggested a few things ( surgeries) to try if not successful ! She explained them in brief. I was pleased with her. However they (someone after each visit) needs to wipe down room and spray something or get air filters working. I am allergic to dander except for my poodle mix, and in the three or so hours there I must have sneezed 40-50 times each hour!!!! read more

Our young puppy was brought to SAGE after showing signs of decline at home. Hospitalization lasted four days due to persistent hypoglycemia and missing meals. The medical team was thorough in their workup- extensive labs, imaging, and close monitoring were all completed, and we truly appreciate the attentive care provided during that time. When the puppy first came to us, it was energetic, full of life, clear signs of a thriving young dog. The age was appropriate for weaning and separation from the mother, and based on breed norms, independent feeding was an expected milestone. In the days following separation, we noticed a gradual decline in energy and poor feeding from the start, which prompted us to seek urgent care. Despite our repeated concerns that our puppy may not have been fully weaned or weaned too quickly, the focus remained primarily on what it should have been capable of at their age, rather than what the puppy was actually showing us. We expressed multiple times that our puppy didn't appear to know how to eat- but were told that, developmentally, it should be eating kibble, and if they couldn't, it might simply mean they wouldn't survive. On more than one occasion, we were told, "some puppies just don't live if they cannot eat." That was incredibly difficult to hear, especially when no specific medical issue could explain why our puppy wasn't eating. That mindset, treating our puppy as a kind of survival-of-the-fittest case, was deeply disheartening. We remained persistent in our belief that if we could find a way to support feeding naturally with continued nurturing, our puppy could improve. Unfortunately, the plan remained centered on IV glucose and possible feeding tube placement, without truly addressing whether the underlying issue might be developmental rather than medical. It felt like a critical developmental issue was being overlooked: our puppy had likely been weaned too quickly and simply hadn't learned how to eat on their own. It wasn't until we spoke with an experienced rescue foster that we approached our puppy differently, like a puppy who had been taken from their mother too soon. We were advised to try a milk substitute, and within minutes, our puppy perked up, became playful, and started thriving. The warm liquid + sucking motion can simulate comfort from mom, this seemed to be the "reset" they needed. We then had no problems transitioning to solid foods. Someone finally helped us see that the issue wasn't their will or ability to live, it was simply that they needed help learning how. While we truly appreciate the effort and care our puppy received during their hospitalization, I do feel there was a missed opportunity to consider behavioral and developmental feeding challenges. Given our puppy's very small size and slower developmental progression, it seems possible in hindsight that more time with the mother and a slower weaning process might have been beneficial. Had this been recognized earlier, we might have avoided days of IV glucose, rising costs, and fear that our puppy wouldn't survive- not due to illness, but due to failure to see the bigger picture. read more

We just left the emergency vet for my friend's kitten that unfortunately was hit by a car and did not survive. When we brought the kitten Halley into the hospital Maria the receptionist was very compassionate. She registered us immediately and called for Veterinary technician . .Renee the Veterinary technician came out right away and spoke with my friend. She informed her of the unfortunate news. She gave her a chance to say goodbye. We never felt rushed. Both Maria and Renee you can tell care a lot about animals. I would definitely bring my pet to Sage again. My dog Lola didn't have an appetite and was vomiting today. Was were worried she may have eaten or swallowed something bad. First time visit to Sage emergency veterinary clinic which is open 24/7. The veterinarian and vet techs were super busy but so good to Lola and to us as well. They took time to listen to our concerns and then recommended some X-rays to verify if she had an obstruction. Lola was there for three hours. Good news she's fine and Lola was given a probiotic medication and she will be on a bland food diet for a few days. read more

The doctors took time to explain treatment options and offered recommendations to help with future issues. Took my pup there late one night after thinking he had dislocated his leg. When we walked in, we were seen immediately and when they started to do the intake, they paused and said let's give him something to make him feel better first. That was the first moment I knew they would take good care of him. After x-rays and a splint, they said that he would likely need surgery to repair a fracture and said that they would have someone who could consult and operate the next day. Ultimately, we decided that we would want the surgery closer to home (traffic over the Altamont is horrible) so that we could have easier access to follow-ups, etc. We were able to use the X-rays Sage took to get the correct surgery performed and be on the road to recovery. Sage was there 'in the middle of the night' (11:30), took care of my pup, made him comfortable and set him up properly while we figured out where to go. It was challenging to find someone closer who performed that kind of surgery and we were about to call back to get it done at SAGE. I would have been happy with that decision. It would have been pricey, but he would have gotten top-notch care. I never felt pressured, only educated as to the issue and likely resolution. Highly recommend for any type of care, especially emergencies or specialty areas that are hard to find elsewhere. read more

I took my sweet 13 year old dog to SAGE last week as she had declined tremendously. When i took her in I had already decided to euthanize her unfortunately. Lulu has been my very first and only pet as an adult, therefore i had never gone through this. Such a sad feeling, uncertainty, regret, and lots of emotions wondering if im making the right choice. When I saw Lulu i just knew I couldnt keep doing this to her but questioned my decision on the drive there. Upon arrival the young lady in the front (forgot her name) was kind, soft spoken, and empathetic to me. My wait was short as I was told they will try to make it a easy wait and she was bleeding orally. Once i was taken to the room, i began to get very nervous. When I was finally taken to the back room and met with Dr April LeBlanc i suddenly felt so calm. Just looking at her face and her honest approach was a drastic mood change for me. She thanked me for making the choice to give Lulu an end to could have been a painful last few days. I never though Id feel so comforted during such a hard time. I cried and Dr LeBlanc cried with me. It was a very very genuine comforting conversation. I cried even more because my heart couldnt handle how happy I was at a time i felt like i needed to be sad. She stayed with me until my girl took her last breath and i felt a calm peace. I did still cry on the way home haha but felt like i made the right choice. The next day weighed heavy on me because I was having second thoughts on the cremation choice I made. I called in spoke to Cali- who was extremely kind and understanding and told me my choices. She made some phone calls and 911 emails to the facility where lulu was taken to. And because of her I was able to return her to SAGE and go with my alternative option for cremation. We've been going to Sage Dublin for over 10 years, always receiving great care, so when we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our beloved 19-year-old dog, we trusted them to help us through one of the hardest moments of our lives. We were absolutely wrong, and I wouldn't wish what we went through on anyone. When we arrived, the front desk and vet tech were kind, patient, and compassionate, exactly what we needed in that heartbreaking moment. They allowed us to finalize paperwork, took our pup to the back to place her IV, and then brought her back to us in a calm, quiet room with a white couch, telling us to take all the time we needed before they would return for the euthanasia. We spent quiet, tearful time with our girl, comforting her, letting her know how much she was loved. When we were ready, we were told to "push the button" for staff to come in. We did exactly that. And nothing happened. We waited. And waited. 20 minutes went by, and still, no one came. We pushed the button again. Still, no one. During this time, our dog was becoming more uncomfortable, and it was agonizing to watch her struggle while we sat helpless, waiting for someone to come assist us in saying goodbye. After 30+ minutes, my husband had to leave the room to go to the front desk to find someone. It wasn't until 15 more minutes later--45 minutes after we first pushed the button--that Dr. Kelly Lin finally walked into the room. The moment Dr. Lin entered, it felt like the air shifted. She did not look at us, did not offer a word of comfort, and showed zero compassion. She didn't take even a moment to acknowledge our pain. It felt rushed, cold, and transactional, like we were an inconvenience in her busy day. Within minutes of entering the room, she flushed the IV line with a clear fluid. My sweet girl, who had been resting, yelped and screamed in pain. It was horrifying. We had been told this would be a peaceful process, but instead, my dog's last moments were filled with confusion and fear. I asked Dr. Lin why my dog was yelping, and she dismissed my concern with a cold, generic response that it was "normal," and she did this when they put her IV in the back as if I should have known this or as if my question didn't matter. She didn't apologize, didn't slow down, didn't try to reassure us or comfort our dog. Within moments, she administered the sedation and then the final injection, all while ignoring our distress and our dog's fear. I expected a moment for the sedation to ease her before the final drug, but that did not happen. There was no pause, no kindness, no gentle words as we said goodbye. We trusted Sage to help us give our dog a peaceful, loving goodbye, and instead, we were left traumatized by how this was handled. Nothing about this experience was compassionate or respectful. It felt like the exact opposite of what we were promised, and I am haunted by the way my dog's last moments were taken from her--and from us. If you are looking for a place to say goodbye to your fur baby, I beg you to reconsider if Dr. Kelly Lin is there. She does not embody the culture of Sage Dublin that we once trusted, and I deeply regret allowing her to be part of our dog's final moments. This was the worst experience of our lives. My original post had somehow disappeared for no apparent reason, especially since I was only being truthful, so here I am posting again. My dog son, Bruno, passed away three months ago. I could not get myself to write a review since I have been grieving his unexpected and sudden loss. My family and I are still truly affected by his loss and will probably always be affected. It's such a miserable and heartbreaking experience to trust your pets life to professional veterinarians, who eventually were the main reason why your pet is gone. Bruno passed away due to surgical complications after a leg amputation due to osteosarcoma. He somehow had a super infection post surgery and no one, not even the doctor, knew how he got that. Everyone in that location who met Bruno all stated that he was such a strong dog and he will do great as a tripod. There were many things this place lacked and did not do. First of all, many of them, lack compassion. They don't realize how scary and sad it is to hear such shocking news, and the first thing they would tell you is the cost and want to know 'how they will receive their payment.' Prices were so very high. They also don't discuss the possible complications that a big surgery can have on your pet. Labs and x-rays should have been more current, not over a month ago. They want to save as much time for themselves so they do a lot of the assessments and biopsy just right on surgery morning. Post surgery, when Bruno came home, it was a nightmare! We called every single day to inform them of sign and symptoms that worried us. We got advice such as 'he is such an anxious dog, let's increase the pain and anxiety meds.' When informed them about his mood, someone said, 'it's normal for him to seem depressed, and I'll order a med to help him with his appetite.' I was concerned about his rapid and fast breathing, someone told me, 'he is probably in pain. Make sure you give his meds as ordered.' We strictly followed the discharge instructions for his meds. During the numerous calls to Sage Dublin while he was at home with us, all the employees seemed to not be too concerned about anything and kept telling me that it was normal for him to be experiencing all those symptoms. I eventually brought him in. He was monitored and fluids were drained from around his heart and chest cavity and kept overnight. A doctor called me many hours later to inform us that there was nothing else they could do. He was miserable and was suffering from all the continuous fluid accumulation around his heart and chest cavity. We as a family had to say goodbye to him. I truly wish I brought Bruno to another hospital for a second opinion, and please don't bring them to another corporate veterinarian place. At Sage Dublin, there was a lack of compassion, assessment, attentiveness, communication, education, and ridiculous cost. Find somewhere that is not such a big corporate money seeking business. There are other hospitals around who truly care about your pet family member and want the best for them and may even cost less. Spread the news and talk to other pet owners. I was surprised to hear and learn of the many bad news and experiences of pets who are seen at Sage Dublin. I wish I heard about other places before his surgery and now I have to live with this for the rest of my life. read more

I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed with the lack of care and thoroughness we received for our cat at SAGE. The quotes and pricing were shocking, especially given how little information and guidance we were provided during an extremely vulnerable and emotional situation. Based on the initial assessment, we were essentially left to decide whether to pursue an expensive surgery or say goodbye to our cat. We opted for home care, trusting that all reasonable options had been discussed. Then, over 24 hours later--after our cat was clearly still in pain--we were suddenly told more tests were needed to rule out other potential issues that had never been mentioned, discussed, or quoted the day before. To make matters worse, I brought my cat in for an appointment and even called back about 12 hours later for an update, only to be told--more than 30 hours after the initial visit--that we needed to bring him back in for additional testing. During that time, we were left in emotional limbo while our cat continued to suffer. This experience felt disorganized, poorly communicated, and lacking in genuine care or thorough assessment. I will never return to SAGE and would not recommend them to anyone facing a serious or time-sensitive situation with their pet. read more

I felt things were a bit pricy but when you need urgent care for your pet, shopping around for prices isn't realistic. After a diagnostic, they give you a breakdown of treatment costs, usually with a miscellaneous line for a few hundred dollars in case anything comes up. You sign your consent and pick up your pet once completed and pay. I was refunded a couple hundred dollars on my second visit, so do feel they do what they can to be efficient and honest about everything. Dr. Olincy was very compassionate and dedicated to help finding answers for health problems my senior cat was experiencing. She gave honest advice and helped answer all my questions. My biggest qualm with this place was the awful smell that went on during my visits as they are doing renovations to their facilities...it smelled like embalming fluid and a nail salon and was so off putting. I've lost track of how many times we've had a night like this. Where we sit at home noticing one of the dogs or cat has an issue. We don't have to debate our sanity and can just call ahead and bring any of them in for emergency care. Yes, emergency care isn't the same rate as the standard. But will I ever risk going to bed and wondering if my pets are ok? No and I don't have to. Unlike older facilities, they have equipment on site that allows them to check for many things. I've even gone to see the ICU where they care for the poor four legged friends who need a lot more help. Sure, the doctors and rest of the staff change here, as any other business does. But what they never compromise on is the quality of their services and customer service, most importantly. Thank you, Sage Dublin for always being here for our family! AVOID SAGE DUBLIN!!! Terrible experience. Make no mistake Weldon and the gang's only concern is making money. Lots of money! My dog had a very aggressive malignant tumor on the front on her jaw. It required 2" of her lower jaw to be removed. When I went to bring her home the day after surgery, it started bleeding out in my car, in the parking lot. I rushed her back inside for more surgery to stop the bleeding. Then brought her home the same day. But a day later the sutures failed and the flesh of the lower jaw flapped open, but luckily no bleeding. Back to Sage for more surgery. And a day later, more failed sutures and more surgery. In fact, my baby was subjected to 4 surgeries in less than a week!!! With the associated presurgery fasting she about 5 pounds. Then sutures failed inside her mouth. About which the doctor told me "technically we should stitch it up again". For another $2700! In fact I was charged for each surgery that they botched. I took her to reputable vet and he told me "if it were my dog. I'd give her time. It may granulate over on its own". I did and it did. After this experience I took the next serious condition to Veg San Ramon. What a difference! Still not cheap but very caring and competent! read more

To Sage customer service: I'm very frustrated with your response. You can't correct or improve your service if YOU DON'T START WITH HONESTY. We came in with our baby, Mikey, and requested an X-ray and ultrasound. Your team tried to pressure us numerous times to agree to move forward with the whole procedure which includes surgery and chemo before they would do an X-ray and ultrasound. Your doctor originally estimated costs of $35k which later changed to $45k. Your team seemed to ignore the fact that we said we're retired and have a small budget to push us to agree to the surgery and chemo. We lost trust due to the pressure and informed the doctor multiple times that we would like to have x-ray and ultrasound results before we would feel comfortable moving forward with the surgery. That cost for just the tests was estimated to be around $3k then later changed to $4k and that it wouldn't be done separately. After over 2 hours and many tries by the SAGE team, we firmly stated that we did not feel comfortable commiting to surgery or chemo and that WE WANTED TO LEAVE. The doctor made us feel like we were bad parents and that we should feel guilty about not going through with the procedure. THE UNBELIEVABLE PART was that the doctor SAID THAT SHE DID A LOW INTENSITY ULTRASOUND which was why she recommeneded surgery. BUT WE WERE NOT BILLED FOR THE ULTRASOUND NOR WAS AN ULTRASOUND MENTIONED IN THE REPORT THEY SENT US. SO DID THE DOCTOR NOT DO THE ULTRASOUND AND ASSUMED THAT MY DOG HAS A BIG TUMOR ON THE SPLEEN?? How can you diagnose without the necessary tests??? When we went to Berkeley Dogs and Cats Hospital in Berkeley. They did the ultrasound and found that the tumor was on the liver. Surgery would not help so their doctor advised us to take Mikey home and spoil him. The cost of the ultrasound was around $500 no where near $3k. It feels like the whole SAGE team was trying to rob us. There was an incredible amount of pressure for us to commit to a $45k surgery and treatment without getting results from X-Rays and Ultrasounds. We were uncertain because we had no information and worried because there was a possibility that Mikey might die during the procedure. However, we were tempted to move forward because the doctor said Mikey will have the opportunity to live for 3 to 6 more months. In summary, your staff DID NOT PROVIDE US DIFFERENT OPTIONS. The doctor declined to do the tests that we came for. THE DOCTOR MISLED US WHEN SHE SAID SHE USED THE ULTRASOUND TO RECOMMEND SURGERY since it's unclear if an ultrasound was even administered. She said she would ONLY do the xray and ultrasound if we agreed to do the surgery and chemo. That isn't right. I will contact Better Business Bureau and other agencies so others can avoid this kind of scam. NO ONE should have to experience this horrible, cruel experience. You shouldn't take advantage of people when they're at their most vulnerable. You made us deposited $1,700 when we walked in and the bill was about $1,500. Unbelievable, since at Berkeley Dogs and Cats Hospital, we were charged under $500 for ultrasound of the stomach and heart and medication. Sage customer service, PLEASE DON'T just write something so generic to further fool more people. You're in the business to help the most vunerable and helpless clients so please start with HONESTY and THOUGHTFULNESS. Thank you. read more

I had a good experience with Sage Dublin. Yes, even though I live in south San Jose, I drove there a number of times over the last month to see if the oncologists could help my poor cat, Moxie (who has since passed away). I was able to get an oncology appointment within a matter of days, and overall it seems like it's pretty quick to get an appointment here. I was impressed with the care Moxie received from the various oncology nurses/techs and especially from Dr. Shirley Chu. I believe she is a traveling oncologist and is not based in California but seems to staff there sometimes. The staff at Sage provided Moxie with such kind, compassionate care, and were always available to explain things to me. Another thing I was impressed by is how quick her biopsy took. I dropped her off at 8 am and she was ready to be picked up at 2:30 pm. In contrast, when I took her for a CT scan at another hospital, I dropped her off at 7 am and she wasn't ready until 9-10 pm!!!! Poor cat :(. Rest in peace, Moxie :(! read more
