I will give this vet a 5 star rating because we have used them and their services for several years and they've been great. BUT there was just something wrong and off about our last and final visit. We took our dog in for a sand impaction, admitted her for 2 days, signed off on every tests and estimate they threw at us whenever they asked for more money (3 btw) no questions asked. We trusted them. I get it. Sometimes things happen but when we get a call in the middle of the night saying that she's declining. When I say I want to pick up my dog, I'm coming to pick her up. We went through phone calls and screenings, face to face, with the doctor on duty that she advises us from taking her home. I tell her thank u on the phone and say we are picking her up. She asks how long until you get here... what an odd question to ask. Instead of something along the lines of I'll see you when get here, I'll have "X" ready for you. We drive 20-30 minutes. We wait in the waiting room for 10 minutes. Doctor comes in, NO dog in hand. Tries to talk us out of taking our dog again, saying she wants to know if we have a euthanization lined up, it's against staff recommendation and the animal control will be notified. We talk in that room for at least 20 minutes. We're ready to take her. We pay everything and our dog is still not out here. 5-10 minutes and she's finally out. She is NOT declining. She is LIMP. She does not move at ALL. Barely able to move her head and mouth. Eyes not moving. You're telling me you were so against us taking our dog but she's unresponsive. What happened in the hour and what time where you stalled us. She passed away in bed with us 2 hours later. Like I said before, I understand things happen but something is just not right with our interaction. Rest in love my sweet girl.

Had to bring my pup in over the weekend. Same compassionate experience as the last few visits. I always know my pets as well as the humans here are treated with kindness and respect. Options and quoted fees are always explained up front and never felt an upsell on any visit, just clear information. There was a bit of a longer wait this time as there was an emergency ahead, but the waiting area is clean, fairly large and an easy place to wait. With all of the open window space, my girl was happy to wait and stare out the window until her turn. There was a small discrepancy on my credit card payment vs actual charges that I noticed later that night, sent and email, and it was fixed the next morning. I appreciate that and everything they do here.

IronHorse went above and beyond in taking care of my baby, Gemma. I came to them in a time of crisis where I didn't know why Gemma was in so much pain. I was worried since Gemma is a very anxious cat and has attacked veterinary staff before, but the staff was still so kind and handled her gently. I had a positive experience with all of the staff, and wanted to give kudos since they work in a high-stress environment that is 24/7. However, I wanted to give a special shout out to Dr. Asia. She truly went above and beyond in her care and I felt she genuinely was invested in Gemma's recovery. I had to say goodbye to Gemma, and I'm heartbroken that we didn't have more time together. But the team here really did try their best, and that means the world to me.

Today was a stressful day for us after our 4-month-old kitten, Captain Churro, had his neuter operation. Later in the evening, we discovered blood all over his incision site, tail and his enclosed pen, which sent us into a panic. We rushed to IronHorse VetCare, where we were immediately greeted by two vet techs. One of them quickly took Churro to the back to make sure he was okay. Thankfully, it turned out everything was normal and nothing serious. They gently cleaned his tail and the incision site, reassured us, and explained what was happening. Their calm and professional response made all the difference during such a nerve-wracking moment. A huge thank you to Damon, Liz, Marcle, and Dr. Madrigal for your kindness, speed, and care in helping Captain Churro (and us) feel at ease. We are so grateful for the IronHorse team and the compassionate way they handle both pets and their worried humans!

Professionalism. You get the straight recommendations. Even if a pricey estimate, you get honest opinion. Having a pet is not inexpensive and having pet insurance is highly recommended. We had unlimited for our Pom and thought nothing would happen so we dropped coverage to lower coverage and sure enough we needed knee surgery to the tune of $15k. Had $10k covered. Bottom line IronHorse works with OakVet in oakland. There's an affiliation. Both companies are caring and offer good advice.

This is my little Bretzel who was treated at Iron Horse Pet hospital

I had my little Bretzel at the Pet Hospital twice. First time she was diagnosed ( after an Ultrasound ) with Pancreatitis. The second time she was admitted because of severe diarrhea .. She was dehydrated, listless and didn't eat for 2 days. They took such good care of her. The Doctors on every shift called me to give me an update on her condition and always kept me informed of the treatment and if there were additional costs . The staff was very friendly and professional . I would always take my pets there if another emergency would arise .

Despite their best efforts, her veterinarian was unable to determine the cause because they didn't have the specialized equipment needed to perform an endoscopy and take a closer look. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment available at SAGE was a week away, which I completely understood given the demand for specialty care. In the meantime, Peaches needed immediate attention, so I took her to an emergency veterinary hospital in Fresno. There, they sedated her and discovered a foxtail deeply embedded in her vaginal wall. Although they removed it, they couldn't say with certainty that it was the sole cause of her symptoms and strongly recommended that we keep our appointment with the internist at SAGE. I'll admit that after reading some of the reviews online, I was worried that I might be pressured into unnecessary procedures or expensive treatments. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed. SAGE truly operates like a full-service hospital, with the equipment and specialists needed to address complex medical issues all under one roof. Most importantly, the care and professionalism we received were exceptional. Dr. Miller was absolutely amazing. He came into the room already familiar with Peaches' medical history and had clearly taken the time to thoroughly review her records before meeting us. That level of preparation immediately put me at ease. After examining Peaches, Dr. Miller explained that she appeared to be in very good health. He discussed the option of performing additional diagnostic procedures to investigate further and provided a detailed cost estimate. While the procedure was expensive, it was understandable given its complexity. What I appreciated most was his honesty. He told us that, based on her exam and improvement, he didn't feel additional procedures were necessary at that time. Instead, he recommended monitoring her closely and reassured us that if the bleeding returned, we could contact him directly and he would make himself available. His honesty, transparency, and genuine concern for Peaches meant so much to me. Rather than pushing unnecessary testing, he helped us make an informed decision that was truly in our dog's best interest. We also discussed some ongoing digestive issues Peaches has experienced over the years. Dr. Miller offered helpful recommendations, sent us home with food samples to try, and even offered to write a prescription should we decide to switch her diet. As pet parents, we all want veterinarians who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Dr. Miller and the entire team at SAGE exceeded my expectations in every way. I am incredibly grateful for the care they provided to my sweet Peaches. Thank you, Dr. Miller and the entire SAGE team!

Almost immediately after bringing her back out puppy #2 popped out. They immediately started attending to the puppy and helped out of its sack and getting him to nurse on mom. I would also like to add that during this whole emergency my two young children were with me and they were given snacks and tended to while i stood by my dog. I left my pet with them to be treated while hospitalized. Unfortunately, I did not know exactly how sick she was. Within a matter of a short period, diagnostics came in with not so good news that left us with two options. Neither of which I was prepared for. Instead of acting quickly, the receptionist was incredibly rude and told me to wait for a nurse just to decide "if they could stay or not." I ended up waiting for over 40 minutes. While I was waiting, three other clients walked in, and all of their animals were taken back to see a nurse immediately. When I questioned the staff about this, they claimed the other animals were emergencies. How are 4 starved and dehydrated kittens not considered an emergency? What makes this worse is that this place is supposed to work with local animal shelters, yet they couldn't care less about these rescue animals when it actually mattered. It felt like because these were rescues and I wasn't a standard high-paying client, they didn't want to bother helping them. A veterinary hospital should care about saving animal lives, regardless of where they came from. The lack of care, terrible communication, and rude behavior at the front desk are completely unacceptable. Avoid this place if you actually have a real emergency.
