I applied for the CSR position at IronHorse VetCare because I was genuinely interested in the opportunity and took the process seriously from the beginning. Unfortunately, the way I was treated throughout this process left me feeling like my time, effort, and professionalism were completely disregarded. I had a scheduled phone interview with Breann, the manager, and she was late. I was understanding and gave her the benefit of the doubt because I understand that things happen. I still showed up and continued through the process professionally. Then I went to my in-person interview, and Breann wasn't even there when I arrived. She came in later that morning. Again, I remained understanding. After the interview, Breann told me she wanted three professional references. I took that seriously. I reached out to three people and asked them to take time out of their own schedules to provide references for me. That's not something I take lightly because I understand that I'm asking other people to spend their time helping me get a job. Then the communication became absolutely ridiculous. Breann never even gave me her email or direct contact information after the interview, so I had to call IronHorse VetCare just to figure out how I was supposed to contact her. She sent the reference request to only two of my three references. I emailed to explain that my third reference never received anything and was told it would be sent. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. Days passed. And I would contact in between. Then weeks passed. And I heard practically nothing. I'm sitting here waiting after doing everything I was asked to do, while the people I used as references had also taken time out of their day for this opportunity. I eventually had to call IronHorse VetCare two or three times as well walk in just to get some kind of update. One time, I was told that Breann would call me back within an hour. She never did. I got Nothing. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I wasn't demanding the job. I wasn't expecting anyone to hire me just because I applied. I literally just wanted an answer. I even said that if I wasn't selected, that was completely okay, I just wanted to know whether the position was still open or whether the hiring process was over. I understand that people have lives. I understand managers get busy. What I don't understand is why nobody could communicate that with me after I had spent nearly two months going through this process. If she was unavailable, someone could have simply told me. If the position was filled, someone could have told me. If I wasn't selected, someone could have told me. I shouldn't have had to repeatedly call and chase down a company just to find out what was happening with my own application. I am 22 years old, and I still understand that people's time matters. I respected Breann's time when she was late to my phone interview. I respected her time when she wasn't there when I arrived for the in-person interview. I respected the hiring process. I contacted three references. I followed up when one of them never received the request. I waited. I emailed. I called. I went in. What I did not receive in return was the same basic respect for my time. This wasn't a few days of poor communication. This was approximately TWO MONTHS of communication, follow-ups, waiting, and uncertainty. That's an unreasonable amount of time to leave someone hanging after you've already interviewed them and requested their references. I cannot speak to what it would actually be like to work at IronHorse VetCare, but I can absolutely speak about how I was treated as an applicant and I was extremely disappointed. This experience left me feeling frustrated, ignored, and honestly disrespected. I expected a much higher level of professionalism from a veterinary hospital. If I wasn't chosen, SAY THAT. If the position was closed, SAY THAT. If the process was delayed, COMMUNICATE THAT. Candidates deserve better than this. Our time matters. Our references' time matters. Once she helped us, every thing moved very quickly. The staff and vets were compassionate, communicative and efficient. I will give this vet a 5 star rating because we have used them and their services for several years and they've been great. BUT there was just something wrong and off about our last and final visit. We took our dog in for a sand impaction, admitted her for 2 days, signed off on every tests and estimate they threw at us whenever they asked for more money (3 btw) no questions asked. We trusted them. I get it. Sometimes things happen but when we get a call in the middle of the night saying that she's declining. When I say I want to pick up my dog, I'm coming to pick her up. We went through phone calls and screenings, face to face, with the doctor on duty that she advises us from taking her home. I tell her thank u on the phone and say we are picking her up. She asks how long until you get here... what an odd question to ask. Instead of something along the lines of I'll see you when get here, I'll have "X" ready for you. We drive 20-30 minutes. We wait in the waiting room for 10 minutes. Doctor comes in, NO dog in hand. Tries to talk us out of taking our dog again, saying she wants to know if we have a euthanization lined up, it's against staff recommendation and the animal control will be notified. We talk in that room for at least 20 minutes. We're ready to take her. We pay everything and our dog is still not out here. 5-10 minutes and she's finally out. She is NOT declining. She is LIMP. She does not move at ALL. Barely able to move her head and mouth. Eyes not moving. You're telling me you were so against us taking our dog but she's unresponsive. What happened in the hour and what time where you stalled us. She passed away in bed with us 2 hours later. Like I said before, I understand things happen but something is just not right with our interaction. Rest in love my sweet girl. read more

Also said we needed $2,000 in "workup". When we asked to talk to vet again was told he didn't have time and he'd call. He never did. At end of day they emailed us a written transcript of the 5 minute conversation. This place takes advantage of pet owners when they are their most vulnerable. When their pet is sick and it needs help. They view you as a check book. Went to another vet and quote for same procedure was $2,000. Also said the workup wasn't necessary. read more

They give you a high end and take a deposit on that. They tell you what it could entail. 3) The office and the staff are calming. There can be long waits depending on how busy they are. Had to bring in our pup for hospitalization because he was acting funny one evening which resulted in his kidney values being off. He wasn't eating and drinking and for safe measure we decided it was best they monitor him overnight. After much assessment, they come at you with all of these costs with a range that it's hard to keep up with all the medical terms. We ended up getting our pup's tummy x-rayed and sonogrammed which cost an arm and a leg for sure to make sure there were no weird blockages. Why do those simple services cost thousands of dollars in America? Should be criminal. They ran a series of tests to make sure he was stabilized and even referred us to a specialist sister vet for more testing. It can be a stressful place because most people who bring in their pets are in unstable condition but overall the staff do a good job keeping it under control. They have very tough jobs so we must be patient and express empathy. Being in any kind of ER is a tough gig that is mentally and emotionally draining - so kudos to the staff for doing what you do to help our fur babies recover. read more

I was referred here by the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) after receiving some hopeful news following a terrifying night of rushing my beloved 10-year-old female corgi from one emergency hospital to another. Late Saturday evening, she began showing alarming symptoms which included lethargy, pale gums, and shaking. An ultrasound performed by VEG had revealed a localized mass on her liver, with no evidence of metastasizing. Additional radiographs confirmed there had been no signs of spread to her lungs. Based on these findings, VEG determined the mass appeared operable. We arrived at 7 AM on a Monday, hoping that Gracie could undergo surgery that same day. We were informed she would first need to be evaluated through their emergency department for a surgical consultation. Compared to VEG, the team was more cautious in their optimism, explaining that even with a successful surgery, Gracie might only have a few additional months. The outcome would ultimately depend on the biopsy results. During this discussion, they recorded the conversation, likely for liability purposes. They recommended one more ultrasound, this time performed by a board-certified veterinarian, which confirmed that the mass was in fact localized and appeared operable. We decided to move forward with the procedure, and they were able to admit her and perform a liver lobectomy later that same day at 4 PM. We didn't have much direct communication with the veterinarian, but the lobby staff and the vet technician who assisted us were kind and attentive to Gracie's care and comfort. Around 5:30 PM, we received a call informing us that the surgical team wanted to perform an additional gastropexy while she was under anesthesia. We gave our consent and took this as a hopeful sign that they were considering her long-term health. We received regular updates after Gracie's surgery. It was reassuring to hear that she was doing great and that her vitals were stabilizing well. Knowing she was under round-the-clock monitoring and that her pain was being closely managed brought us a lot of comfort. Just 24 hours after surgery, we were able to bring her home. She was discharged with pain medications and a sedative and came bouncing out into the lobby wearing an adorable rainbow bandana and a pink slip lead, looking like a brand-new dog. Although I don't know who performed the surgery, I have never seen a cleaner, more expertly closed suture on a dog. Her recovery has been smooth and uneventful, and we'll be returning on Sunday to have her staples removed. Since then, we've received the incredible news that Gracie's biopsy came back benign, and she's expected to make a full recovery. This review is overdue. The whole fam had a huge scare on New Year's Eve 2022 when Skippy the shih tzu kept throwing up everything he ate or drank. I can go on and on blaming the groomers and initial pet clinic we had gone to starting on Christmas Eve but I won't. Skippy was much better after the incredible staff and patient Dr. Damron took care of him two hours prior to midnight. We spent New Year's here instead of at home watching the NYC ball drop on tv. Yesterday, we had a scare. Our little pupper has been hanging in her back area, and with the rain, we had in the past and now with dry, really hot days, there have been a lot of foxtails. She has been covered in it for the past few weeks. The last couple of days it has been worse. So long story short (like her) she got some in her ears. Yesterday, when my wife brought her in in the afternoon, she was acting lethargic and not her normal peppy self. This would not have been too much of a concern had it not that we lost our dog of 11.5 years a month ago and he was lethargic before he passed in his sleep. Our normal vet is Paws of Pleasanton (shout out to them for the referral) is not an emergency/urgent care clinic, that referred us to IronHorse Vet Care. My wife brought her in and they immediately took care of her. We tagged team this visit because my wife had to get back to a meeting. While I was waiting the staff ensured that I knew the status. It took a while for her to be completely checked out. But they let us know that her vitals were normal and that they were waiting for the vet to see her. So in the end, she had two foxtails in her left ear, and she had inflammation in both ears. She went home with a test tube of the foxtails, a cone, and pain medication. The vet came out and spoke to me, explained everything, and was very nice and caring. She did not blink, when I could not keep a straight face when she said Zoe had to wear a cone for two days. For over two weeks, we struggled with his eating habits and despite multiple visits to the vet, I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to let him go.
