I had an issue with an AIO computer that was running slow. Took it in to be told there were viruses and would cost about half the cost of the computer to fix. Thought that was odd since I have virus protection and it showed no viruses. Called a private individual who told me the real problem was the low memory capacity so he removed unneeded programs which fixed the issue. So always get a second opinion. You know how you want to hire someone to come to your home to work on the computer or printer or network, but you are afraid of getting ripped off, or the person not knowing what they are doing?? I have had this happen with other computer repair places in Santa Cruz.. In one case, one shop didn't even return a call. I was in the area, so went in to Pleasure Point Computers, and told the guys working in there that I had gotten a new PC, and that my wireless printer would not talk to the new PC. They asked if the new PC had a different operating system, and said that could be the problem, and gave me a couple of suggestions. I decided to have Luigi (owner) come out to get it working (and keep the printer working on my Mac). They quoted a price for the job (not an hourly rate), which I really appreciated. Luigi came, spent about 1 1/2 hours - downloaded drivers and found the one that worked, got the printer working with the PC, as well as being able to scan to the PC, which a person from another shop had told me that would be impossible to do! And the printer still works with the Mac. He got everything working, then made it Static, so the settings should not change in the future. He even showed me how to do the scanning. All in all, a great experience by a very knowledgeable person, and a company that I would definitely highly recommend Luigi and Pleasure Point Computers. read more

These guys are awesome! I brought them my macbook pro, wanting to install and new hard drive and operating system, because I was getting an error message when attempting it on my own (I can usually fix/figure things out). Well apparently it was a tough problem, and in many words shortened to few, they hacked the system, rewrote part of the code, and implemented some scripts to trick my computer into thinking it was newer then it actually was, so that I could LEGALLY install the most recent OS. Had an appointment today for them to come fix the POS system at my work, THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I waited over an hour for them to show up and when I called to get an ETA all I received was an answering machine telling me that they were already closed. Very unprofessional service! My laptop seemed to be running hot so I brought it in to get checked. When I asked how much it would cost to get a diagnosis, they said it was free. They had me leave my laptop and they looked it over. They called me back within a couple hours to say they didn't see anything wrong with it but they had cleaned out some dust that seemed to cool it a bit. I was going to go to Computer Zone on the westside of Santa Cruz to get my PS3 fixed, but when my friend went to do the same thing, they charged him $100 to just look at the PS3, then decided they couldn't fix it and charged him another $150 to send it to Sony. When I heard this I started looking else where. I saw PPC's craigslist ad about PS3 repair for only $60 and I was a little worried that to TOO cheap. I went there to drop it off, no charge, free diagnosis. They called me 2 days later, telling me its ready, I come in, pick it up and only $60 it was good. Also came with a 60 day warrantee! All around great people and service. I highly recommend everyone to no use Computer Zone and travel to Capitola to Pleasure Point Computers. Much better people, service and experience! read more

My computer died. I took it to their store where they provide a free diagnosis. They kept it for a couple of days (for diagnosis) and then gave me a couple of options and provided estimates with each option. I chose to have them replace the motherboard. They finished it in about a week for exactly the estimated price. I had a problem with the hard drive when I returned home and returned the computer to their store. They fixed the problem on the spot (no charge) and apologized for their mistake. Very friendly and competent. Highly recommend these guys. Computer is working fine. read more

Best place ever for broken of corrupt computers and hard drives. They were able to fix my broken hard drive and all my data was saved. Such nice people and great customer service. I brought my WD hard drive on a Friday and on Monday it was fixed. They really saved me, I now will back up all my data on multiple hard drives. This is a great place for fixing gaming consoles and they have a great deal of refurbished equipment. Such a great experience I would recommend this to any person. I recently bought an iMac, a brand-new desktop computer. I had been doing and writing up my academic research for many years using PCs and PC software exclusively. Now I not only needed BootCamp to run it in PC mode, but I had a long list of particulars that I wanted done on my new machine so that I could effectively use my PC files and software, in addition to the new iMac software. Luigi did a beautiful job of transferring and tuning, had things running very nicely. Any remaining questions I had, I would call him up and he would walk me through by phone, giving me instructions and waiting patiently while I did what he said to do in order to get my particular software running exactly to my liking. It's been over a month now since I got my new system running to my liking, and I've now begun my new research career using both operating systems. I spilled soda all over my Mac keyboard after two days I could hear the computer turn on but the monitor was dead. Got a call when they received my computer (had my son take it in) and then the next day to tell me it was up and running, that they unplug something from the motherboard and plugged it back in and the monitor was now working. Cannot praise these guys enough! The ABSOLUTE BEST. My PC had the light blue "Choose an Option" screen that was in a continuous loop. Nothing I did could get out of it. Another tech told me that my PC was not compatible w/ Win10, suggested a reformat, revert to Win7 and loose all data! Yikes! In desperation I tried Pleasure Point Computers (based on all the positive reviews). Oh, my gosh. They were friendly, efficient, had a positive outlook, and very knowledgeable. Free diagnostic.
