After pretty much a total remodel of both bathrooms and…read morethe kitchen, we experienced a homeowners nightmare...a plumber was doing periodic maintenance on our cast iron infrastructure when a pipe broke. After analyzing solutions with them, which included knocking out walls in both bathrooms, the owner handed us off to APEX. Joe and Mike came over to the house and examined what we had & took pictures. After running cameras through everything, they developed a hybrid solution that involved undermining accessible pipes and replacing with minimal intrusion as well as refurbishing and epoxy coating the remaining small segments of cast iron that would remain. Joe sat down at our dining room table and mapped it all out; showing us video of each problem point as well as what was salvageable & gave us a price. We signed off on it. With much apprehension on our part knowing our home was about to be dissected, Elliot and John arrived to start work. They were prompt, respectful, & empathetic to our dilemna. They were also insistent about putting protective paper down everywhere they worked to protect the flooring. At the end of the day, they swept, vacuumed, and mopped any debris that was remaining. This was the standard throughout the entire engagement. Their workmanship and attention to detail was spot on. All of Joe's guys were phenomenal. John, Elliot, Matt; I cannot remember all their names, were consummate professionals of the highest degree. I would not hesitate to recommend APEX Plumbing.

So 39 hours in total my tenants would be waiting for a solution to a plumbing issue. Also, their quote came in at almost 3x the amount other businesses gave me. I told the technician I was not interested in moving forward, then the company had the audacity to call me, again an AI robot, to try to schedule the service.

Due to previous remodeling, they were able to get one bathroom functional in a couple of days. That was the good part. The rest of the work was sloppy, running piped ON the laundry room walls, kitching piping on the outside of the house. They were sloppy in cutting access holes in the walls and while they had indicated they would fix all that, they did not . They left drywall dust and insulation, tracking it through the house. Dirty hand prints on walls, doors and ceiling and cigarette butts everywhere outside, even after being asked to not drop them. I was pressured for final payment before it was all finished, probably why they didnt finish after payment. I would NOT recommend them under any circumstances.

James was sent and my girlfriend and I found him to be very friendly and knowledgeable. Trying to track down the problem (a foul sewer odor) when the washing machine was used was a process of elimination. There was a washing machine drain installation improperly done years ago that James saw and the thought was that the sewer gas was backing into the utility room particularly after doing a good number of loads of laundry. James corrected the problem and brought it up to code. His work was extremely neat and precise. Sadly for us the problem continued and James spent a good amount of time trying to snake the line and drop a video camera down. The drain line wasn't freeing up and the camera showed that there was still waste in the line which should have passed with the snaking. The thought was the perhaps the line broke somewhere down the run and we decided to take a few days to explore the options. It turned out the sanitary line in the complex started overflowing and what the property manger claimed was my girlfriend's problem was really the landlord's problem. I brought this to the attention of Jennifer from Jones and Sons, even though James had invested his time and materials on the job Jennifer was so pleasant and understanding. She asked for me to be patient and she would call me back the next day. James called me the next day and he was as nice as can be. Mind you his business card has him listed as "Uncle James" and lol that what I started calling him from the beginning. His words to me were " I want you to be happy, what can I do to make you happy? " We spoke and he really listened and we came to a very fair resolution. In reality James is like your uncle, your favorite uncle! Jennifer and James are the nicest people! I highly recommend Jones & Sons for who they are as people.

I was given a rough estimate of 600-1000 over the phone based on inspector photos and description of needed repairs which was assuming replacing the whole cast iron p-trap and replacing the shower diverter. When Marcus called me from the house with good news - not having to replace p-trap and diverter and only to replace fernco and adjust diverter I assumed the invoice would be at the low end of the phone estimate. When he said $917 or $1300 if he had to replace shower diverter. I was a bit shocked but in a tight spot to get this done and the house closed. I told them to go ahead and we could discuss as maybe I was not understanding. He then called back a little over an hour later and said the work was done. In my opinion, these charges were excessive and not reflective of the time, labor, or complexity involved. The work performed was: 1. Replacing a Fernco coupling under the house. There was already ample access in the crawlspace (around two feet or more), and this was a straightforward repair with no major excavation or difficult access required. 2. Adjusting a shower diverter/valve. The "repair" was essentially adding a small block of wood behind it to secure it in place. For these minor items, I was charged $917.27. The invoice included charges such as: Fernco replacement: $149.19 "Difficulty charge Level 1": $206.00 Drywall cutout for access: $212.08 Adjust shower valve: $350.00 I called to discuss this matter with Tim. He stood behind his invoice and reiterated they were not up-charging and they do not bill by the time but by the job. On Tap texted and emailed me after the job for an honest review, so I obliged. I trust this helps the public when choosing a plumbing company.
