We went to Plumstead Grill for Bike Night, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and delicious the food was! It's not 5 star dining but for a grill and bar- fantastic! There was a band playing outside, the bar was packed, and there were easily 100+ people there but despite the crowd, the service was fantastic. My husband ordered a burger with sweet potato fries, and I had the grilled chicken Greek salad. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Upon entering, even though it was busy, they were able to seat us at a hightop table immediately. We waited about 10 minutes and finally a waitress came over and asked us for our drink order. She brought the drinks out quickly but it did take about 20 more minutes for her to come back and take our food order. We waited about another 20 minutes for the appetizers to come out. When they did, they were cold. The buffalo wings were literally cold to the touch. The flavor was good, but the sauce on top was no longer moist, it was dry as if the wings had been sitting out for a while. The mozzarella sticks had good flavor, but again, they were cold. We waited another 20 minutes for our entrees to come out. I ordered the Plumsted burger with sweet potato fries. The only thing that was hot was the burger itself. The bread was also cold to the touch, and the fries had completely cooled down as well. The description of the burger stated "fried onions". I thought this meant it would include something similar to an onion ring. Instead, the burger had sautéed onions on it, which I do not like, at all. We also ordered the chicken parm sandwich. The sauce tasted straight out of a can. The temperature was warm, not hot. It was closer to being cool. Fries that it came with were mediocre. Overall, the common issue was the temperature of the food. Nothing was hot. I don't know if it's because it was sitting out in the back for too long. Our waitress never came over to check on us/ask if we needed anything. We waited too long for each dish and even trying to pay took forever. I think everyone was very overwhelmed. This place might be better on a weekday when it isn't as busy. But as for my experience on this particular day, I wouldn't return. They had the bartenders serving the high top tables as well and I think this was the downfall. The bar was completely packed and it was just too much to handle. They need to let the bartenders focus on the people at the bar and get more servers for the floor. Giving two star for the ice cold coors light. That was the only good thing served last night. We ordered wings, martini, dessert and an Irish coffee. We sat at the bar and even though we were in direct sight of the bartenders (3-4), service was slow. We ordered beers first and 10 min after finishing them someone asked if we wanted a second round and we agreed. Another 10ish min went by before we flagged down a bartender. For our second round we had one beer and I ordered a martini. The raspberry martini was not good. The color was a brown/pink. I still drank it because I'm not the kind of person to send anything back. My husband ordered wings, he likes them, I thought they were tasteless. We ordered cheese cake and carrot cake for dessert and they both tasted like they've been sitting in the fridge for a long while. What a bummer! I don't know why we keep giving this place the benefit of the doubt. If I come back here it will be for beers only. read more

Great Cabin Outdoorsy feel. Loved the woodwork and vibe of the restaurant; unfortunately the positives end here. Service was passable. Not entirely personable and lagged at times. Seemed the staff was going through the motions. The Bread that arrived with the Appetizers was warm on the outside and freezing cold in the middle. Obviously microwaved, assuming they must freeze and reuse bread which is telling of a place that cuts corners and doesn't care or think customers will notice. The Hot Seafood Appetizer was Lukewarm at best, with a Brodo that lacked any real flavor other than wine. The seafood was frozen not fresh and overcooked. Shrimp were hard and rubbery. Asparagus appetizer was decent. French Onion Soup had a very thin broth, needed more onions in the soup, and was light in flavor. 1st time I've had crunchy croutons in my soup. I really wanted the Main Course to be good. It wasn't. You can get a NY Strip OR a Porterhouse for the same price. $39.99. We opted to get the Porterhouse. 1 Medium and 1 Rare. The 1 was cooked perfectly but was a T Bone. Not a Porterhouse as it was missing a significant Filet Side. (Pic included). And why drown it in Au Jus? Likely due to NO Seasoning on the steak The other was asked Medium and was brought Well Done. Vegetables are frozen and Mashed Instant. Waitstaff doesn't pre-bus or clear tables and no busboys to be found so table crowds with dishes. We left knowing we wouldn't return and my opinion is just avoid. Better places elsewhere. The food here is really hit or miss. I sat at the bar, and the service was almost nonexistent from one of the bartenders--she was right in front of me and still never came over to take an order. Thankfully, the other two bartenders noticed and stepped in to handle both my drink and food orders. The beer was very cold and really good, but the mixed drinks were disappointing. We went for lunch so the menu was pretty limited to sandwiches and that type of food. I had a side of sweet potato fries which were barely edible. My friend ordered a medium steak. When he got it, it was well done. He showed the waitress (once she finally came back very much later) and she said it would be remade. She came back and she told us the chef refused to remake it. She thankfully took it off our bill. We visited on Thursday, with a party of five, for lunch and it was a very nice experience. We arrived right at opening and were seated at a spacious table. The dining room is large, with a bar on the other side. The waitress stopped by and took drink orders, their margaritas are tall and strong. We started with a few appetizers; Chicken Wings, Buffalo Shrimp, and Stuffed Mushrooms. They were all well prepared and tasty. From there we went with Surf & Turf, Prime Rib, The Plumsted Burger, Filet Bearnaise, and a Cheesesteak. All the entrees were cooked to order, fresh, and had huge portions. The service was outstanding. The waitress kept up with all our needs, even though we were ordering off the Dinner Menu at lunch. Overall, an excellent place to dine. read more

I went here with my wife and 2 friends on a Friday night. We were promptly seated. Our waitress Mel was very nice and helpful. We had the crab dip and the portion was big and delicious. 3 of us had the French dip and the sandwich huge. It was very delicious. My friends felt the same way about their sandwiches. My wife had the cheesesteak and said it was delicious. Two of them had a dessert and said it was ok. The building is cool. It's like an old log lodge. Very nice place and looked very clean. We had one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in years at Plumstead Grill. My husband and son each ordered the $36 prime rib dinners. Both steaks were cooked incorrectly. Unfortunately, our waitress didn't come back to check on us until my other son and my meal were finished. By that point, my husband and son had stopped eating and were simply waiting because they knew the prime rib wasn't right. When we explained the issue, the waitress took their plates and returned several minutes later to tell us the chefs believed the prime rib was cooked correctly and would not make another one. The only options were to order something else or have the prime rib removed from the bill. I told the waitress I wasn't upset with her--I know she was caught in the middle--but that a manager really needed to know this wasn't an acceptable solution. No manager ever came. My husband and son ordered burgers while I sat there completely finished with my meal, waiting for their replacements. The burgers eventually arrived, and we all had to continue sitting there while they ate. It completely disrupted what was supposed to be a family dinner. When the bill came, the prime rib had been removed, but they had actually charged us for the replacement burgers. We had to ask a second time to speak with a manager. After another long wait, the manager finally came over. Instead of apologizing, he immediately became argumentative. He repeatedly told us the chefs disagreed with our assessment and that their policy is to have customers order something else rather than remake the meal. When I explained that the evening had been ruined and that I expected some effort to make things right, he argued that they had "provided us with a meal." Only after more discussion did he reluctantly remove the burgers from the bill, and it felt like he was doing us a favor instead of correcting a poor customer experience. To make matters worse, my own meal--the scallops--was honestly terrible. I didn't even complain because by that point I just wanted to leave. I'm only hoping they don't make me sick later. Mistakes happen. A steak can be overcooked or undercooked. What separates a good restaurant from a bad one is how they respond. The waitress was pleasant and was clearly put in an impossible position, but the chefs' refusal to stand behind their food and the manager's condescending, argumentative attitude turned a disappointing meal into a terrible dining experience. We won't be back, and I can't recommend Plumstead Grill to anyone. read more

Absolutely fantastic. My husband and I were in the area and stopped by the bar in the afternoon for lunch. My husband got Guinness, I got a caramel apple martini. We also ordered a chicken ceasar wrap w/ French onion soup and a Plumsted burger with sweet-potato fries. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. 10/10 recommend. Very casual but generally speaking it was a good experience. Showed up on a Sunday when we were joining a party of 8 and with no reservation and went into a mild panic attack once I saw the crowded parking lot for a car show. Parking was a challenge and the wait for a table was just 20 minutes, for which I was thankful with two small children in the group. The menu is covered all tastes, and there is a full bar. I even saw people taking drinks outside in plastic cups to enjoy while viewing the car show. Portions were so large that we all had something to take home, and the cost was beyond reasonable. My wife and I drove down to South Jersey on a Saturday afternoon to meet friends, and stopped at the Plumsted Grill for an early dinner. This was a fun place with a lot of locals and a nice big bar. It has a vibe of feeling at home with friends. We heard the burgers were very good here so everyone but me ordered the Cabin burger. I went with the cheesesteak. I figured we were close enough to Philly, they must be good. None of us were disappointed. The food was very good. The coleslaw that I ordered as a side was outstanding! Food is always good here. Usually stop for lunch after the Breast Cancer Walk at Lorrita Winey. One issue is I ordered the Turkey Rueben. It came out open faced like a melt. No where on the menu does it say it's open faced; I expected a sandwich because that's how it was described. When I tried to put it together, it just fell apart and had to eat most of it with a fork. If you're going to make it something other than described; state it on the menu. Server was pleasant but didn't come around much. Stopped in with a group of friends after spending a day outside at the local winery for a Hawaiian Luau event. Party of 8. Initial suggestion was to put us outside as they didn't have an easy way to accommodate us. Having been outside all day already, we requested indoor seating. They found a space which was cramped but it worked. Server was very attentive and did a good job taking care of us although the food took a very long time to come out. Even for a party of 8, the food turnaround was slow. My dish was the French Dip with onion rings. Our table also ordered Buffalo wings which were very nice. The French dip was good, but not great. The shaved beef was very good and the portion size was generous. Bread was fresh and soft. The au jus was a big flop in my opinion. The ramekin was less than half full which means it was gone by the time I finished "dipping". Photo clearly shows how empty the au jus container came out. The au jus flavor was lacking almost completely to the point of being watery. Not salty enough or "rich" enough to really make this a great French dip. Onion rings were awful. Came out cold and tasted like they were fried in very old oil. The food for me was a solid 2 but I think others dishes were better including the wings. Service was good so I think they earned the 3 rating. I've dined here in the past (many years ago) and this has dropped off quite a bit from what I remember. read more

Meals: Kick off with bread- crispy and hot- very good and light. Chicken Caesar salad- large, would make sense to have a half portion option as the size is a bit ridiculous. Lots of chicken as well- good, but nothing special. Lettuce seemed fresh. I asked about the shrimp option, but only 3 regular sized shrimp come with that for $9 extra. Chicken Alfredo- Heavy sauce, again a ridiculous portion (can feed at least 3). Heavy garlic, which is a plus for those that like garlic. Decent amount of chicken. Scallops- Good flavor, side garlic mashed potatoes. Came with soup- cream of broccoli. Chicken tenders app, add fries. Larger tenders, but thin. Basic but good. Stuffed flounder- good, stuffing is thick, pretty good amount but heavy. Bang bang taco app (3, large) and onion rings Veal Marsala- Very good, large portion. Very thin cut and tender- lots of large mushroom (3 pieces of veal). So decent meals all around, but nothing I would be inclined to rush back for. read more

When we got there there were several people sitting outside eating already. Just two tables were occupied. We tried to flag her down but she went back into the restaurant. My husband and I sat there for quite a while. Finally, I got up went into the hostess area. Approximately six waitresses were hanging out by the hostess stand. I went up to the one who ignored us and asked her why she ignored us and didn't even get us any drinks. She said it wasn't her table nor her job to work outside. I asked her why didn't you say or acknowledge us when you came out 4 times? I confronted her but she could care less. The hostess grabbed the menus and came outside to drop them off. The hostess said someone would be outside soon. Meanwhile, the hostess came back again, to bring us silverware and napkins and said again, someone will be out shortly. Well, we waited and waited and waited. By this time I said to my husband lets go we're still being ignored. This is the worst service we ever have gotten. We eat out alot and I review most all places we eat. We won't be back here again. Well, I gave them a second chance. After not going for over 2 years, we went back, there was 6 of us , we all ordered different things. The food came out. Ruben was overcooked the chicken fajitas that someone got had no cheese and had no flavor and the chicken was tough. My husband had a steak sandwich and he said the bread was stale. The waitress didn't seem to care about us. She came back and put the checks down for we had asked for separate checks right from the beginning. And started to walk away, and someone spoke up and said we would like desserts, so she picked the checks up again, took the orders for the desserts came back with the desserts, put them on the table, my friend asked for water. She never got it when she delivered the desserts, she also delivered the checks again. Like we were done We were there talking for a while. Went for dinner with friends and the food was excellent - the noise, not so much. I realize that they are trying to project a "log cabin" look but they need to invest in some accoustic panels or something similar to deaden the soiund, somewhat. The dining room is is all hard surfaces and sound bounces off of the ceiling constantly. My solution was to turn off my hearing aids! As I said, the food was excellent. We started off by sharing a Maryland Crab Dip. It was large enough for all four of us to enjoy and it was quite good. The ladies ordered Stuffed Salmon (both brought some home) while I ordered the Stuffed Pork Chops. The chops were hot, tasty and huge - brought one home as well. Our 4th entree' was Chicken Francaise and it was deemed tasty enough to bring nothing home! Prices are fair for both dinners and drinks. After looking around trying to fine prime rib near base I can across this gem. So I usually like my prime rib med-rare but after reading some reviews that said it wasn't cooked all the way. I ordered mine medium and it can out medium needless to say don't believe what every review says. Other than that the service was great, the place was packed with locals, the ambiance is very cozy. Solid day finishing up a round o golf and heading here for some wings n Sammie's. Jack Daniels wings were not overly sauced and sweet so kitchen is on point. Bartenders were also friendly and knew what they were doing. The roast beef / Swiss/ horseradish wrap had some kick and the potato salad was the right choice. Place is clean and looks great. I also had a crock of French Onion Soup which had a very flavorful broth and a nice cheesy cap. Overall, this is a great venue with a nice, comfortable feel. Food is good as well as service. I've been here several times and those two items are consistent.

This place has great food...that is, if your server is not chatting in the corner or on her cellphone for 25 minutes. I watched 3 groups come in and were seated and receiving their food before me. My food came out just warm and my sweet potato fries, which I asked for crispy, came out like rubber as they probably had to reheat them in the microwave. Then the server gave me my check which I paid in cash, and she short changed me. While it was only about 29 cents, it shows her lack of attention. Very poor service.
