I've been here a dozen times. Take out pizza has been fine. Tonight we were in the restaurant and veal and pork chops dinners were acceptable, nothing special as other times we ate here. The one star review is because there's always a problem with the check. We were using a gift card and we were charged an additional 3% credit card fee. When I questioned the waiter he said that's what they do. Confronting the owner he had a smirk on his face. I believe he was going to remove it but I left cash for the remainder and tip and will never come back. Friends has caught being over charged. Saturday at 6:30 - 7pm and the place is half full. Delicious Italian restaurant. We like their outdoor seating option. I love their crafted pasta dishes. Paccheri all Mamma and Orecchiette alle Rabe are my favorites but they often have specials. The sketchiness of this place left a bad taste in my mouth. First red flag was the sign on the entrance door warning customers of the fee to use a credit card. We came here on a weekday night for dinner around 5pm and the restaurant was empty. We were the only table. Once we sat and opened the menu I was expecting to see the menu I read online. As soon as we realized it was a specialty menu my husband and I prepared to leave since we had our picky children with us. The hostess noticed us getting up to walk away and offered us a kids menu and asked us "what we wanted?" She explained they had pizza, wraps, regular pasta, etc. - This was the second red flag. (Why weren't we offered this and the kids menu upon seating?) We decided to stay, we ordered an appetizer, soup, and our kids ordered from the kids menu. During our app the hostess comes to take our entree order & when I asked to see the pizza menu she said "we don't have." Horrible. The lady who moments ago practically begged us to stay is now saying I couldn't order from the menu they have on their website or the pizza she originally offered us. Since my family was already eating, I didn't say anything. My kids and husband ate & I sat there with a glass of water for dinner. I refused to order off their limited menu. This place is such a scam. If they want customers to order from their limited menu they should clearly state that on their website. My family walked in there expecting one menu, sat down and was offered a completely different and more expensive one. Inside the place is nice looking. I cannot comment on the food because I was too angry to eat. It's a shame that this place doesn't value their customers. First time here and was looking for a quick bite. My server was very friendly and attentive. I started with the calamari and it was very good. It was fried perfectly, not too hard and the marinara was tasty. My entree was a pasta dish with shrimp. Also, very good. I drove by this restaurant and decided to stop in. With my husband. To my surprise the ambiance was warm and the staff were friendly. My husband ordered the veal parmigiana and it was so tender and tasty. I ordered the Arancini ( rice balls) that was probably the best I have had in a very long time. Horrible simply horrible. I was never so embarrassed when I invited a guest to have lunch with me there. She couldn't even cut her raviolis because they were so hard. The chicken Parm was completely burnt and dried and they just drowned it in sauce that they poured from a can into a pot cooked it with no spices no oil no garlic nothing it was disgusting. The meal cost me $174 for the four of us. I took my meal and threw it out.. We all didn't eat anything. My family and I went here for our sunday dinner. They were busy and had a lot of people. They only had 1 bathroom stall for ladies and 1 bathroom stall for men. The line to the bathroom was super long. It looked fancy inside the restaurant. The table set up with wine glass, tablecloths, etc. but definitely need to expand the bathroom with a few stalls. We ordered the appetizer sampler for everyone to share. I ordered the vitello zio sal; it was delicious. Entree came with either soup or house salad. I got the sausage soup which I didnt like. It is a lovely interior which is great for dates or family dinners, just be prepared to flag someone down to be seated at first. I am in my late sixties, my daughter ask me to pick up 7 trays for my grandsons birthday party. When I spoke with the guy to get our order I asked if someone could help me to car. He looked at me like he didn't understand. I went to my car to put my seats down. When I came back the trays were on the counter and there was no one to be found, so I loaded the trays to car. I missed the salad and someone ran it out (the lightest one! My daughter called to complain and he said someone did help me, calling me a liar. The restaurant is pretty, that is true. They also extend effort making sure your food looks pretty on the plate. However, the food quality and service is mediocre while the prices are excessive. I ordered a dish that the menu seemed to indicate was a pasta dish. (There was an italic subheading on the menu that mentioned pasta and that gluten-free pasta was available, and the description of my specific dish did not mention any side items like potatoes or additional vegetables.) The tepid dish arrives with no pasta (despite me ordering gluten-free pasta) and includes asparagus and potatoes. (I despise asparagus.) When we asked the server she said, "Yeah, I mentioned the gluten-free pasta to the cook when I entered your order and he told me this dish doesn't come with pasta." And you didn't think to mention this to the person who ordered a $30 entree? Maybe to make sure this is what they wanted? The dish was terrible, was barely touched and was not boxed up to take home, and they still charged full price. This place is so pretentious it is ridiculous. read more

Our second review. We were shocked that Ismael, our first-time server who we requested tonight told me he read my review and was so appreciative. During the meal, the manager stopped by but he had no clue of the review. Odd. So many restaurant managers and owners will reply to our reviews. Oh well. The food was just as good and memorable as the first time, all fresh, all very tasty, could taste the individual ingredients. My only ding was how management handles changes to the dishes. Example, the lunch menu has many more salad choices so we were allowed to order the roast beet/fennel salad off the lunch menu (regularly $9) but were informed of an upcharge to $14 which we accepted. BTW, the salad should be on the dinner menu, it was that good. A fresh burst of citrus flavor- roasted beets, pistachio encrusted goat cheese, and shaved fennel tossed in an orange vinaigrette served over baby arugula; was exceptional. We then shared an app of the eggplant rollatini, it was so good. Was firm, had substance, not all melted cheese as at other restaurants. Two nice pieces in the order. However, when it came time for the entree order, we wanted a change to the Pollo John Luca, instead of potatoes, my wife asked for a side of pasta. The only way they'd swap it was if we removed both the potatoes and the 3 asparagus stalks. Really-- 3 stalks? Come on, that is plate dressing, not a veggie side. I love veggies and we don't eat potatoes so we had to give in to the $5 upcharge for the side pasta. We go out often and try a large array of places, I would have expected the upcharge comments at other lesser establishments but here. The serve, Ismael, continued to apologize on their behalf. I think he was embarrassed. We'll come back and have the salad again and will make plate changes because you go out to eat what you don't make at home. We'll just now be more aware. They are friendly and welcoming, super clean, attentive staff, contemporary decor, nice menu, and mean well. But it's the little upcharges that get annoying. You don't want to hear no when you are paying for a meal. Note, I didn't ask for the potatoes, which we paid for, to take home, should have gotten a reduction for not ordering them. Not being difficult, we are quite the opposite, we get very friendly with owners, managers, and the staff and greatly appreciate their work, their effort, and their kitchen staff's craft. read more

For a table of 10 people there were 5 small chicken cutlets cut in half . The 2 pastas were on plates so small all 10 people got literally 5 pieces of rigatoni . This was a nice stop after Great Adventure! The service was superb! The decor was very pretty! It's BYOB so that's always a plus!!! They start you off with some garlic bread plus focaccia. The sauce on the focaccia was fantastic. Your main entrees come with either a soup or salad. I recommend the pasta fagioli. The house dressing was delicious. My family enjoyed their chicken and veal dishes...they were tender. The potatoes and asparagus were perfectly paired with it. I had the pasta all norma. Strangely, the sauce on that dish was different than the focaccia. It didn't taste as good but I got used to it lol. For dessert we brought home a cannoli, crème brûlée cake & cheesecake. they have private parking, drive here, they don't sell alcohol so you don't have to worry about that. this is a Byob spot, I am not sure if they charge a fee for bringing alcohol. I ate here last night with friends. The service was outstanding. The manager came up to us after each course and asked how the food was. The waitress was very attentive. The decor is nice with indoor and outdoor seating. It's a little loud inside. I'm ok with loud some are not. As far as the food. It was delicious. From start to finish. Everything was seasoned perfectly. For our appetizer we had the special. Blackened scallops over a bed of polenta. Wow was it good. The other appetizer was a mix of vegetables. They also give a warm bread, and a warm bread that's sitting in their marinara sauce. This sauce is so good we asked for a small bowl of it. No butter or olive oil needed, just the sauce. Finally for entrees my friend and I had the pasta Genovesse. Was a penne pasta in a veal ragu. Boy was it good. His wife had the seafood linguine diablo. It was massive and she said it was good. We were taken here to dinner during our X-mas break while visiting NJ. Wow! What not to like. Attentive Staffs, delicious dishes, and great atmosphere. We spent Halloween in Boston eating out at restaurants in the North End and this place rank right up there with that experience. We were a big group of 12 so we sampled each other dishes and found all to be well seasoned and very authentic. We brought 3 bottles of wine and the staffs were very accommodating in helping to serve our wine. Can't wait to go back. Dec 2012 - Visited here again and it was just as good as I remembered.
