trying to stay hydrated in this heat, i popped into +84 vietnamese bistro on a monday around 2:30 pm, curious about their matcha drinks. located at 1682 robson street, closer to denman, this spot stood out among the many vietnamese restaurants downtown thanks to its unexpected matcha offerings. vietnamese drinks are some of my faves, strong iced coffees with condense milk, fresh fruit shakes, and refreshingly sweet and tangy calamansi spritzes. but matcha with coconut milk, that's a combo i hadn't seen before. inside, the bistro was calm and nearly empty at that hour. cool and clean, with warm wood floors, soft lighting, and sleek black ceilings. simple but polished, with big windows that let in lots of natural light and offer a peek at the tree lined street outside. it's a quiet little oasis for a midday recharge. i got the matcha coconut to go, it was creamy, lightly grassy, and tropical. it wasn't overly sweet, but the coconut milk was overpowering the matcha. it was interesting and refreshing, but with so many other standout vietnamese drinks, matcha coconut would not be my drink of choice.

Honestly, I was drawn in here because the drinks looked nice and they also had a good vegetarian section of the menu that appealed to me. The place is nicely decorated and I got a cozy spot in an alcove by the window. I got the monk's curry and a salted lime soda. The curry broth was delicious and I loved the vegetables they used, especially the pumpkin and taro. It wasn't cheap ($20), but the portion size was insane, like double of what I could comfortably eat in one sitting. The salted lime soda was also really good - not too salty or too sweet, and very refreshing. And also huge. I felt pretty bad because I couldn't take leftovers and had to leave a lot of food because it was impossible to finish everything. I would plan ahead and only come back if I was in a good position to take food home with me - but I would come back. Service was on the slow side considering there was just me and one other customer in the restaurant for a while, but I could tell the food was very fresh. I felt like the waitress didn't really act "professional"; she was nice enough but really lax, which made me think maybe it's a family business and she was there helping out but didn't have any formal training. This isn't something that bothers me because the restaurant atmosphere was very casual and one of those where you go up to the counter to pay once you're done. What did concern me was that when another customer asked if the kimchi was vegetarian, the staff didn't know because they buy it elsewhere. Not a comforting attitude for anyone with strict food restrictions.

Excellent banh mi, noodle soups, rice noodles dishes, spring rolls and matcha drinks. Loved it.

Cali girl here *wave* I tried a bunch of different places but couldn't really say any was a favorite. I finally asked my nail tech what her favorite place was and she recommended Pho 37 and she was not wrong. Then I remembered that my nail tech will never leave me astray. I only had to try their pho once to know, THIS IS IT. Then I had to get their Bun Bo Hue, just tomake sure. The triple crown will be their Banh Mi, which I'm excited to try next but so far 5 stars all the way. Best Pho broth and the best Bun Bo Hue that I've found so far in the downtown Vancouver area. I'm sure as you fan outside of the city limits that there are just as good options but I've finally found my go to spot close to work and home after 3 months of living here. A plus plus is the huge portions but I also have to commend the meat to noodle ratio is just perfect. This is a cute little spot on Robson. Don't sleep on this one, ladies and gents. Dine in or dining out, don't forget to ask for the chilli garlic oil and garlic vinegar on the side. These condiments will level up any dish!

The only small issue was that it took a little while before someone came to take my order, and I eventually had to wave someone over. It wasn't a big deal, though, especially considering how busy they were. The portions here are huge, especially for the price. The broth was a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but it was very clean, clear, and flavorful. This is what I look for in a good bowl of pho. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice soft texture. I ordered a combination bowl. My only suggestion would be a bit more of tripe and tendon. The tripe was a little sparse, and I honestly didn't realize I had tendon until I was almost finished with the bowl. But I like those, and not a lot of people do. Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff was stayed attentive, kept food coming out quickly, and did a great job taking care of everyone. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. There was a nice mix of people. Some quietly watching videos on their phones, others catching up over conversation. It felt like the kind of neighborhood spot that attracts everyone. Overall, this is a convenient, affordable place with good pho and generous portions. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely come back. .

Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. We will return to Pho Goodness when the urge for Vietnamese food strikes again.

They have a…read moresizeable vegetarian section of the menu, including a vegetarian (vegan) noodle soup with veggies and tofu. My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
