First, for a divey-style bar, the barkeep was really friendly. And they have good drinks. He made a stiff dirty martini, an espresso martini, and a few of their Mezcal-based "Smoke and Berries." Outside, we feasted on cheap eats from (I can't remember the name), but we ordered everything from tacos to nachos to fries and I think empanadas? Great music, great lighting, service, and drinks. Highly rec.

From the jump, the energy was chill but not boring... lights were warm, music had bounce, and the whole place felt curated without being corny. Bartender energy? Different. No menus needed... we gave a vibe, he poured what matched it. Not sure what was in the glass, but it slapped. You ever drink something so good you start reevaluating your life choices? That. Clean pours. Balanced. Not over-mixed. Just enough sweetness to get you in trouble. Crowd was mixed, stylish... looked like people who know where to be without needing to post about it. The seating's cozy enough to post up and talk but open enough to float around if you're trying to socialize. It had that lounge-meets-night-out energy. Bathrooms were clean... that matters when the drinks are flowing. Never felt like a dive. Never felt like a bottle-service trap either. It's got identity... almost like a cocktail bar that grew up on rap albums and old money. It's giving... if Frank Ocean curated a bar playlist then dipped out the back with your ex.

We got there about 15 minutes after opening and were surprised to see how long the line was at the bar. Turns out they only had two bartenders working and they were taking their time with each patron. We were served by Jared. He was super cool and very personable. He gave us the history of Malinda Curtis (she ran a brothel in the late 1800s) before telling us about the cocktail list. The drink menu is small, but creative. The menu changes each day (they're only open on Fridays and Saturdays) with the exception of the Old Fashioned. Jared informed us that they don't repeat drinks so you have one opportunity to try one of the specialty cocktails for that day. I had the No Soup For You which was a watermelon gin cocktail. It was really good and refreshing. My friend had the Jiminy Cricket which was a mint and chocolate vodka drink. Both drinks were very pretty. The furniture and decor had an early 20th century feel and was on par with the prohibition era. There's a decent amount of seating, though it filled up fast. The music that was playing was good, but very loud. We only had one drink because we didn't want to stand in line again for a second round. Despite the wait, Melinda's Alley was a cool spot to start our night.

I felt like I was in a vampire members only type of vibe. Loved it. I would definitely come back again. Waiting at the bar may feel rather long, there's only two bartenders but the drinks are delicious. I paid 50$ plus tip for these 3 drinks in my pictures below. Perfect for a date or a nice vibe with your friends.

We started with the Hamachi crudo, which was fresh and bright, then had the scallops, seared to perfection. This place has the feel of a great neighborhood bar, but with high-end restaurant-quality food. The drinks are creative and fun, and they can always make the classics, too. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and you really feel taken care of. Industry Standard is definitely one to put on your bucket list.

This was not an issue, just one that was interesting, though the layout is small and the bathroom door is behind the bar seats, so it isn't the most comfortable location given the tight squeeze with foot traffic. The menu seemed focused on the cocktails, with a mixture of what might be considered and appetizer or main course mixed together. We got the watermelon and cucumber salad to start, thinking it would be refreshing after a long walk there in the heat. Both of us were shocked when the first notes of the watermelon were spicy. We read the menu and then understood that this was not meant to be a light bite. It was very enjoyable, but just a different taste than expected. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles. This had the spice expected. What was interesting was that the spices were almost exactly the same to the watermelon and cucumber salad. Not bad, but we probably would have ordered a different starter. We also ordered the streak bowl and the foccaccia with ricotta. The steak was incredible, and the highlight of the meal. This would have been better with more egg..not sure one full egg wad used? and less rice. The focaccia was warm and the ricotta with honey a nice palate cleanser before and after the meal. Overall, the food was good and the prices reasonable for the types of dishes. The old fashioned had nice herbal notes, and the service was quick.
