    Chips & Salsa

Are you ready for delicious food, this is the place. Flavor in every bite. The atmosphere is fun, salsa bar included. The recipes are classic and they don't cut corners. Our entire meal was fresh and flavorful with the diced chicken (not cheap shredded). Right near shopping and quick on/off the freeway, made a quick lunch easy and fun. Extremely affordable...$4.99 appetizer. The service is outstanding.

Not the freshest Mexican food in the world but it is pretty darn good! First of all, you can't go wrong with a basket of complimentary chips and salsa. That is KEY to an authentic Mexican restaurant! We got the Mexican chicken pizza and the cheese and chicken enchiladas. The Mexican pizza was pretty good, but just like the cheese and chicken enchiladas, the chicken was overcooked. I feel like that is common in restaurants like these unfortunately. I just wished they gave that chicken a little more love and flavor (with a little less heat!). It is quite bland and dry. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas, but same thing, chicken was dry. Prices are decent, but we probably won't be going back anytime soon!

We have been coming here for 35+ years. We moved out of state a while ago and had an opportunity to come back. The pros: the salsa is the same as always.. the enchiladas were goods. The server was nice The cons: the plates were dirty and gross, the chili verde was red? How is that a thing? I used to say this was the best bad Mexican.. now it is a decided meh....

One of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to... and my family agrees. My husband and I couldn't even finish 1 plate between the 2 of us, and our rice was hard as H-E double hockey sticks. We will never be back. Our waiter was very sweet, though, so I've added a star on for that.

The food was good and the service ok. Seems like they could use some more staff and be more attentive to guests. The Salsa does have a ketchup taste.

Worst "Mexican" slop ever. Chile verde (green) was red like enchilada sauce and it all taste the same. Good service and ambiance.

Very similar to La Frontera in my opinion, good enough food to keep me going back, but my favorite is the salsa. So good.

I ordered the fish tacos and a cucumber lemonade, and both were outstanding. The lemonade was incredibly refreshing and hit the spot perfectly. The fish tacos were crispy, flavorful, and served with several different condiments that allowed you to customize each bite and add even more flavor. The chips and salsa were also fresh and delicious. One thing to note is that the parking lot is small and was completely packed when we arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon. However, we were still able to find parking and get a table surprisingly fast despite the crowd. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a great experience. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend giving this place a try!

They start you off with chips and salsa, which is always appreciated. Just know that the first basket is complimentary and any additional baskets come with a charge. Of everything we tried, the Cheesy Pastor Tacos were the clear standout. The birria, asada, and chorizo were all good, but the pastor tacos stole the show. Next time I'll probably skip the variety and just order those. The only thing that caught us off guard was the seating policy. They wouldn't seat our table until everyone in the party had arrived, even though the people we were waiting for were literally pulling into the parking lot. It wasn't a huge issue, but it did feel a little unnecessary and inconvenient. Overall, the food was excellent, the drinks were refreshing, and the experience was a good one. I'll definitely be back, especially for the Cheesy Pastor Tacos.

The restaurant has limited parking! Tiny! Parking is a joke! There is maybe 6-7 parking spaces on the east side. Maybe 2-3 at the back of the building, which is one way. It limits the ability to drive around the back of the building. There are two parking spaces on the west side of the building. I have seen cars get totally stuck, people yelling and getting upset. If you have a large vehicle, I would not even try to drive around the building. I would drive south of the restaurant and park at the whitmore library's parking lot, and walk over. Service is okay. Ordering is cramped, and if there's a line you're standing at the back of the restaurant right next to people sitting eating. It's uncomfortable. During the summer there is seating inside and outside, but during high times you have to wait for a table! During the winter there are 12 tables, most of which are room for 2 people, four tables for 4 people, 5 if you can fit. This restaurant is SO popular, they really need to move to a larger building! One with plenty of parking and more seating. I love their food so much I would go once a week if there was more seating and parking, otherwise it's just too stressful!

Unfortunately I kind of wish I didn't. We tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, Carne Adovada Burrito, nachos with shredded beef, and horchata. The dish with the most flavor was the nachos. I'd give that dish a 4. The horchata was pretty good too. Definitely above average horchata. But the rest of the dishes didn't have enough flavor, even after adding salsa from their salsa bar. This was pretty disappointing and we wished we had picked a different restaurant for lunch.

I got to select however many meats with no toppings and was pain free for the rest of the day (conclusion for me: no additives triggered a wobbly digestion in response).
