The service was awful, in the restaurant it was only us (3 adults) and a table of 6. The restaurant is huge but they only had the lights turned on were we are seated. We ordered the parrillada which had chicken steak and shrimp. We waited about 30 minutes to get our food. The food was cold! Not even warm, shrim wete rubbery and the meats were just so hard to chew because of how cold the were. This is supposed to feed 4-6 people and the one scoop of rice and beans was definitely not enough for everyone. The only good thing was the flour tortillas. Came by for an early dinner they were unfortunately out of two of the things I wanted. I ended up going with the Mojarra Frita. Which is essentially a whole fried fish. It was delicious and cooked just right. The vegetables that were served with it were a little unripe so they were kind of hard to eat. If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant that delivers on putting out the most fun vibes with the decor and atmosphere, please visit here! We visited around lunch time this past Saturday and it was fairly packed! It seemed to be that most of the crowd there seemed to draw for the buffet, but we decided to order off the regular menu which worked in our favor because everything we ordered came out pretty quickly. To start with some drinks, my husband and I both ordered margaritas; I ordered a Mango Margarita and my husband got a regular Lime Margarita. The drinks came with cute plastic hats on top, which I thought was so funny. As far as the flavor goes, they were fairly syrup-y and the ice wasn't ground down a ton, so you definitely needed to stir it quite a bit to try and get a balanced sip. I did end up ordering a Mango Daquiri as well, and I preferred that drink a bit better over the Margarita! For lunch, I ordered the Enchiladas de Camaron and my husband ordered the #8 Combination platter that came with a Chile Relleno, Chile Verde Enchilada, and Rice & Beans. All the food that came out had very large portions that were near impossible to eat in one sitting. The quality and flavor of the dishes were good, but not over-the-top amazing. As far as cost for the quality, it was about spot on! I wish there was a bit more spice to my dish in fact, and was slightly disappointed that the restaurant didn't have any spicier house made sauces to offer outside of the table salsa, and bottled hot sauce. Would I still return here? Absolutely! I think the energy and decorative appeal of the restaurant sets an atmospheric tone that makes you want to return. From the minute you walk in the door you are transported to another place. I don't think I have ever been to a more visually stimulating restaurant. No waterfalls or live animals, but this colorful creation has a fountain, flags, piñatas, and painted furniture and walls and of course lively music. We went on the first Friday of the month for the vegan buffet which they are just starting up again after a Covid break. We were thrilled to be able to eat whatever we wanted without concern. Is there another vegan or vegetarian buffet in Salt Lake City? If so let me know, because I'm there! They had everything you could ever want: chips with salsas and guacamole, salad, fruit, vegetables, hot homemade tortillas, enchiladas, taquitos, empanadas, tamales, and delicious desserts from Yumz. Nothing is labeled, that's a bummer. Hard for those with food allergies or those who are just curious about what they're eating. But, it was all delicious! So hard to choose with so many options, much more food than I imagined. Unlimited guacamole? Count me in! It's a buffet, so service is limited and we had to ask for water. But, they were friendly. We also paid at the register. Prices are higher than listed in their website, but for the amount of food, it was worth it. This was our first visit to Mi Ranchito Grill, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was helpful when we asked for recommendations, gave us plenty of time to decide without rushing, and was prompt, friendly, and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the beef fajitas with soft corn tortillas, while my partner had the carne asada burrito. Both dishes came with rice, beans, guacamole, and sour cream on the side. The presentation was attractive, and everything tasted freshly made. Most importantly--the food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was colorful and welcoming, with a relaxed vibe and just the right volume of music. We especially enjoyed the decorative water fountain that added a charming touch to the décor. They offered complimentary tasty chips and salsa while you view the extensive menu choices. We ordered the: Camarones Imperiales 10 jumbo shrimp wrapped with bacon, pan-fried. Comes with a zesty dipping sauce and rice/beans. flour tortillas. Cost was 23.99 This entire dish was as delicious as it was pretty. My dish was the: 23. Beef and Bean Burrito and Chile Relleno Combo enchilada style with side of guacamole. Cost was 14.99. My favorite part was the Relleno. The shredded beef in the burrito was seasoned well but a little heavy on the salt. It needed something to cut through it. I was happy I asked for a side of guac and it seemed to tame the salt. The decor is very colorful and vibrant. You can't help but feel happy dining here. They have a cute water fountain in the middle of the restaurant so bring a coin or two and make a wish. We skipped the buffet because there were allot of diners with small kids and the kids were kind of all over the place unattended which equals little fingers touching things and then putting them back. Wasn't appealing to us at all. Ordering from the menu and having it prepared fresh is the way to go unless your trying to dine economically and don't care about peoples buffet habits. To preface this review: the food here is amazing, the space itself is HUGE, and they have a vegan buffet every first Friday of the month and a ton of vegan options. They also have $2 margaritas - and I don't think you can beat that price anywhere else in the valley! The vegan buffet was delicious and was about $20 for the buffet - we couldn't believe it was ALL vegan! We kept asking to make sure - this is all vegan right? The desserts, the ice cream, EVERYTHING! And they kept bringing out more and more delicious items. Yumz provides the desserts here, and they are wonderful. Peach cake, strawberry cake, chocolate peanut butter cake, etc. The service here was very disappointing. We wanted to try out their vegan buffet, and it also happened to be Cinco de Mayo, which I think may be why it was so busy the night we came. When we walked in, it was a 45-minute wait, so we asked if we could sit at the bar while we waited for a table, which was wide open. They said we could and we took our seats. I also put our name down for a table. After we sat down at the bar, another couple sat down and a server came over and took their drink order and got them chips and salsa, but completely ignored us. Several servers walked by us and didn't help us, but they continued to help the couple next to us. I eventually was able to flag someone down to get our drink order and we got our drinks and chips. After about 30 minutes, our table was ready and we were escorted into their back room which was PACKED! There were so many people here I couldn't believe it. This restaurant space is HUGE! No servers ever stopped by our table, and since it was our first time, we just assumed that we helped ourselves to the buffet, which we did. However, we later noticed all of the tables around us had drinks and servers that were coming back to check on them and take drink orders. We sat here for a couple hours and no one ever helped us. Luckily it was a buffet so we could help ourselves, and we were eventually able to flag someone down to get us some waters. When we were done, we got the attention of a server from a neighboring table who was very confused, asked us who our server was - we told no one had ever helped us - and she offered to ring us up. We waited for a while and when she didn't return, we went up to the front to get our checks sorted out. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here, I think it was probably an unusually busy night for them being their monthly vegan buffet and also Cinco de Mayo, but it was frustrating to not have service for our entire night. I will be back, but probably won't be back during their vegan buffet night or another large event. I know they have a large vegan menu, so I'll probably just come back during a less busy time to check that out. read more

I heard great things about another location, but this location was what was most convenient for me, so I went here. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it came with rice and beans. Visually it didnt look too bad but once I took a bite I was disappointed. The sauce was sweet, I've personally never had sweet sauce on Mexican dishes before so this was a surprise to me. There were carrots and peas in the rice which isnt my favorite but I ate around it, but also never seen this in Mexican food, and the beans were cold. Sadly it wasn't just the food that was a disappointment, it was the service too. Brought my family (party of 8) for an early Sunday dinner. Most everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. My wife and I were disappointed in the tacos. The beef was dry. The wait for the food was a little long and not everyone was served at the same time. The staff was very nice and s helpful as they could be. Most disturbing were the wheelchair accessibility issues. There is a one inch lip at the entryway which can be navigated. I have no idea why there is a huge piece of furniture in the entryway creating an obstacle. The most egregious problem is the COMPLETE LACK OF ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS. I was directed to the "larger" men's restroom. The toilet was sufficient height and there was a short bar behind the toilet, but nothing else was correct. No other bars. Not enough room for a wheelchair. A huge amount of ADA violations. I couldn't use the restroom. I couldn't even get in and close the door. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and DISCRIMINATORY. This restaurant has other locations, I can only hope that those don't have the same problems. read more

Came here for late lunch early dinner on a Saturday afternoon and this place is PACKED! Food is pretty good, our server is great, but they can give a little more attention to the women's restroom and add some sort of ventilation inside the restaurant. It's extremely humid and there's not much you can do except fan yourself with the menu. Between the water fountain, the buffet lamps, and the crowd, it gets hot! The women's restroom needed a little TLC: no paper towels, toilet paper and empty rolls on the floor, and there's no hooks to hang your purse. I mentioned it to the servers, and hopefully it was picked up, but they were so busy so who knows. There's a menu where you can order entrees, apps, or al la carte, but I stuck with their $14.99 AYCE bar which includes a drink. I got the horchata. The posole was a little under seasoned as well as their carnitas. I'm not a huge carnitas person, but the other protein only had bits of pieces under the hot lamps. I absolutely love the elote bar where I made 3 for myself! They also make fresh tortilla and cheese empanadas, which were my second favorites! If you check in through yelp, you get $2.00 margaritas and there's no limit! It's a little weak for me, but can't go wrong with a $2.00 alcoholic drink! I was not impressed with the food or the service at Mi Ranchito. I am aware that there is a labor shortage, but I don't feel like this had any impact on the service I received. But I gave a bonus star for the vegan menu! A great option for vegans craving Mexican food, since there are not many other options out there. But Mi Ranchito would otherwise receive just 2 stars from me based on this visit. First, the positives! I love the atmosphere and decor in the restaurant! Perfect for a fun night out with friends. My side of guacamole was large and delicious, and my husband enjoyed the vegan "chorizo" street tacos very much. However, I was disappointed in all other parts of our meal. There was hardly any alcohol in their $12 house specialty margarita, and there were no frozen options on the menu. Service was terrible; our server dropped off our incomplete food order and never came back. I had to approach the counter and a different staff member to get my order corrected (this staff member was very friendly and apologetic). The thing is, our original server was just standing around the whole time. She had 2 tables total, and spent most of the time behind the counter on her phone. I ordered a chili verde burrito, which was fine, but the "chili verde" sauce it was smothered in only contained 3 pieces of meat. Those pieces of meat were really good, but otherwise it was just a soggy bean and cheese burrito sitting in soupy sauce. The prices for the meals were quite high also, so I would have expected much better quality at that price point. I will probably not return unless I'm craving some vegan options. read more

Amazing vegan food! We went on a Friday to try the vegan buffet. No lines, no wait and plenty tables. Also, plenty of free parking on the restaurant premises. The decor inside is very cute and colorful, specially the authentic Mexican chairs. They offer a lot of varieties of vegan food in the buffet. For only $14.99 they offer things like soy ceviche, tamales, Chile's rellenos, flautas, fajitas "chicken" or "meat" and a whole lot more. All the food was in the perfect temperature, not cold or extremely hot. I was really impressed with the quality of the food and what they charge for it. Also, the drinks are so good. I got a virgin Margarita and Jamaica Juice, my husband got the raspberry lemonade. They were so refreshing. Our waitress Miguel Barrera was really nice and attentive. This review is only for the vegan buffet which is on Friday nights which I've tried a couple times, i can't say anything about the regular menu as I haven't ordered off of it but i know they do have a full separate vegan menu during the rest of the week as well. After reading some of the other reviews tho, it seems like the vegan (Fri) and regular buffet (Sat&Sun) are where it's at. The buffet costs $15, they have about 15-20 different dishes to try, and it has always been crowded when I go. I should also add that i am not a strict vegan and don't always like vegan food. With that being said, I still enjoyed about half of the dishes they had, and of those I went back for seconds for at least 5 or 6 of them. The enchiladas were pretty good, but one tray tasted noticeably fresher than the other. They also have $2 margaritas which I thought were only Friday nights but i guess are whenever. Before you get too excited it's a pretty small glass, and I am by no means a margarita connoisseur but it tasted like basically all Kirkland brand mix, i actually kind of wondered if they out any tequila in it at all lol. A lot of the other reviews seem to dock points for the buffet service, but I mean it's a buffet, especially if it's busy (which always seems to be) i don't expect too much from a server bc they don't need to do that much for you. Food poisoning Alert! Not sure what happened to this place. We love their salsa, chicken enchiladas, etc. but the quality of the rice beans and enchilada sauce has gone downhill. I think they're saving money by using outdated ingredients and yesterday's prepared food. My partner and I are currently taking turns using the bathroom because of the food poisoning we received from Mi Ranchito last night. The food used to taste fresh but since Covid it has started tasting overly processed and old.
