Still a gem to this day. Service and food has remained consistent and happy to have such a staple in the area. Burgers are well made and cooked fresh and fries/tots always hit the spot.

Nothing beats a satisfying brunch after a surf sesh. Burger and burrito took care of that and the horchata was a cherry on top. Owner was wonderful and gave us a history of the place.

5 star!!! Tri-Tip Sandwich so so delicious! Definitely recommend. the staff was super friendly and helpful. Also recommend getting the agua Fresca they had strawberry watermelon today so yummy! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu :)

The service was great but expect a wait for the food if you don't order ahead! The owner greeted us and brought the food to us outside - very friendly. The people working here were all family and that gave this a great vibe. There are a few picnic benches outside but many people pick up and go. You can order ahead so you don't have to wait around. We will be back to try the breakfast burritos. Convenient location if you are visiting Sunset Beach.

*** Extra $0.75 fee for using credit card *** Pocket Burger Shack is a small hole-in-a-wall & husband/wife owned burger shack and was ranked #82 on the Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat for 2015. They also recently received Visit Huntington Beach's first annual Foodie Awards in 2025 - winning "Best Family Friendly Restaurant" and "The Best Burger in Huntington Beach" (Sunset Beach is an incorporated part of Huntington Beach). Their burgers are made from Wagyu mixed beef patties, preservative-free potato brioche buns, and housemade "Pocket" sauce. [Parking]: It is almost impossible for visitors to find free public parking here on busy weekends. All parking spots on N Pacific Ave were all taken. However, visitors can park right in front Sunset Beach USPS just a block away, but for no more than 10 minutes max. [Amenities]: No public restroom. Three outdoor tables with tents. [Menu]: Going by Yelp's top recommendations they would be Tri-tip Burger and Breakfast Burrito. Their Breakfast Burrito is served all day with one protein options (chorizo, sausage, bacon, ham, spam, or soyrizo) and one potato option (house potatoes, tater tots, or French fries). I ask the cashier and he only suggested house potatoes and said your "typical' options like bacon or ham. *** Breakfast Burrito (three eggs, cheese, sour cream, onions, bell peppers, and pico de gallo wrapped in a flour tortilla - bacon, mild aka green sauce, house potatoes, no beans - $14.00): Talk about one HUGE portion - it was enough for two people to share. If a burger with no patty (just onions and bell peppers + replace patties with bacon) ever has a baby with breakfast burrito, then this is what it would look like. Personally this burrito could have slightly more bacon and less burrito. Green salsa was good as it had a little bit of heat. *** In hindsight I probably should've pick tater tots instead of house potatoes for better texture. While this breakfast burrito was a little bit different that what I normally have, overall this shack still makes some pretty solid breakfast burrito.

Found this spot on yelp as I was passing through the neighborhood so I decided to stop... I was not disappointed! As soon as I rolled up somebody was offering me a sample of their Agua Fresca which turned out to be one of the best I've ever had.. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try but I chose the vegan burger as that's what had been on my mind when I was searching Yelp. It was the standard Impossible patty on a nice brioche with their "pocket" sauce that hits like a teriyaki, will definitely be getting an extra side of the sauce next time. The garlic fries were the best I've had to date, that was a nice surprise!

Still one of the best burgers around! It's been a while since I stopped at Pocket Burger, but after a late morning surf I was driving by and saw that parking and seating were available, so I and had to stop. This level of burger is a real treat. It's better than most burgers at a sit down restaurant. I need to come more often!

Onion rings, garlic fries and a pocket burger

This was our second visit to Pocket Burger as we are not often on this stretch of PCH, but unlike Sade said, it was as good as the first time. Last time I got the tri-tip burger which was a huge but delicious and juicy burger, and garlic fries which left me full and satisfied for the rest of the day. Today I got the pocket burger, and fries come with it but we uncharged for the garlic fries which disappoint, and got a side of onion rings too. Remembering the portion sizes, my husband and I decided to split all this instead of getting a second burger. The onion rings were hot and crunchy, so fresh and tasted house made. The garlic fries are also crunchy, hot and delicious but topped with a heavy minced garlic topping. I love garlic so this was right up my alley. The showstopper was the burger, yes sides are great and I'm glad we tried the onion rings this time, but that burger was fire . The sauce, the flavor, the fresh egg and veggies! It was a true masterpiece. Their sign doesn't lie, they truly do have the best burgers in town. FYI - this is a local, family owned business with very nice people running the restaurant. The only seating is outdoors at picnic tables. Most folks seem to get their food to go as seating is limited. We went for lunch around 1:00 - 1:30pm on a Tuesday and had no issues getting a seat. Last time we came on a weekend and almost did not get a table.

We took a bike ride to Sunset Beach and happened across this place. Sure glad we did, it was delicious! Ordered the Pocket Burger and BBQ Burger with onion rings. There is a reason why they received a 2025 Foodie Award for Best Burger. Outstanding flavor and taste! The owners Lori and Daniel have put their heart and soul into this establishment and it shows. They are also some on the nicest people you will meet. The restaurant has a small counter inside and several shaded tables in front. It has the classic Mom and Pop burger feel. Parking in front is limited, but there is ample spots in the back. If you are craving a savory and perfectly crafted burger, look no further!

The most delicious, crispy, freshly made onion rings. You know when you take a bite of shitty diner onion rings and the onion slips out like cheap panties and a dollar store wh-. Well this isn't that. The onion rings were crafted by the gods behind the counters. The burger constructed from the grill to the ceiling with an egg, large patty, lettuce tomato and onion. So large you can hardly get it in one bite. This place is a local favorite for a reason. Fighting demons to look for parking is worth it when this is the reward. 10/10

Enjoying the area while visiting kiddos for the holiday. It was a lazy morning at Bolsa Chica RV Park and decided to grab a quick breakfast. I got a breakfast sandwich: plain bagel with ham, scrambled egg and tots. You definitely get quite a bit for $8 but really wasn't a fan. The bagel was fresh and nicely toasted but had a lot of butter or mayo. The ham was tasty but the egg was not my favorite. It appeared to be cooked in a microwave and was undercooked for my liking. The tots were plenty and good. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and eat the bagel and ham separately. All in all the sandwich was acceptable. Service was quick and personable. The establishment was clean and welcoming. The food was nicely packed with napkin and condiments. A plus in my book! So, if you want a quick bite to eat on the way to/fro the beach, stop on it but before 3 when they close.

Love this local place. The new owners are fantastic, and so wonderful to talk to. They usually give free samples of their aqua frescos and they are TASTY! Great food, reasonable prices, superb hospitality, and a block from the ocean. Parking can get a little tricky, but overall I highly recommend this place! read more

The burgers are excellent, perfectly toasted buns, great quality, and sauce with pizazz. We love everything and can't wait to go back to try the Hawaiian-style food on the menu. My husband loved the turkey burger. The fries were crisp and not greasy. It's very busy at lunchtime, try to arrive at odd times to reduce the wait. Even if you do wait, it's SO WORTH IT! My boyfriend invited me to try stand up paddle boarding with him and his friends. After that experience, we were super hungry. We came here at the suggestion of one the rental place staff. It really was a tiny place, like a literal hole in the wall. No indoor seating and you wait outside until you order. There are a few tables out front. Because they are just a small kitchen and staff, the wait was a little bit long, both to order and get our food.The service aside from the wait thought was really friendly. I had really high hopes for my california burrito (no pic, but imagine a burrito) which came with tri-tip, pocket sauce, cheese, fries, and sour cream. It was not bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I guess the pocket sauce is a very sweet sauce, and it sort of took over. I couldn't really taste much else, and the sour cream seemed to be missing. It was a nice big burrito so it was filling. My bf got a Da Kine Burger which has pineapple and bacon and again, pocket sauce. This was a little bit better to me, as the burger stood up more to the sweetness. The burger was cooked well. Fabulous little burger shack near Sunset/Bolsa Chica beach surf spots, along PCH. Family-owned. You're attended to by the super friendly father, mother, and often their grown kids. Every order made to order right then and there in their small kitchen, so there can be a few minutes wait when they get busy, especially with hungry surfers after a long session. But it's so worth the wait. I've had the delish Salmon burger and breakfast burrito, but I almost always jonez for the Pocket Burger, a giant, jaw-popping, stacked burger with everything but the kitchen sink in it: lettuce, tomato, house-made sauce, what seems like fully 1/2 a large avocado, and a fried egg, STANDARD. And it comes with fries! It's a giant burger, with no component skimped on, and utterly delicious. The hardest part is getting your mouth around it and holding it all together while you're eating it. All of which, including the fries, at the price of a single "gourmet burger" in many trendy restaurants (and without all the extra components, for which they'd most certainly charge you). Honestly, knowing what the cost of avocados and eggs alone are nowadays, I don't know how they can stay in business. Parking is limited as they are tiny and right along PCH, but it's not that hard to find street parking around. Seating is outside on a few tables and benches. I see patrons take their food to go or even eat in the car. It's a super casual, beach community vibe. Nice family, more-than-fair pricing, delish food. Absolutely fantastic burger! Delicious til the last bite. What a hidden gem! The bun is a little sweet given what every burger needs, the meat is fresh, all ingredients are! Me and my surf friends love going here after a long surf session. Today I rode my bike from Bolsa Chica state beach, past the overpriced restaurants and fast food joints along the beach boardwalk, and straight to The Pocket. There's 2 parking spots right in front if you decide to drive here, and parking in the back as well. As far as seating goes, there's 3 tables outside and a few more inside. If you come here around lunch time or later, there can sometimes be a very long line (because the food is freakishly amazing). Today I decided to try the bbq burger and their garlic fries. Both were delicious, and the burger comes with 2 big onion rings inside. The business itself is family owned and the entire family is always very friendly. I opted to not purchase a beverage with my meal and the owner offered me a water cup. They have a water dispenser in the corner near the door for customers. I highly recommend coming here if you're craving a burger. I haven't tried their other menu items since I'm such a burger fiend, but I'm sure no matter what you try here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Great food and service! They had a Banana Cream agua fresca which I've never heard of before; it was ridiculously good. You can find parking out front or in the back. The menu is fun and different from other burger joints. Will definitely be back. read more

Yummy burgers served in a tiny joint near Sunset Beach. We were on our way to a cafe but the delicious smell of the meat and the sauce lured us in. We were so glad we found this place! Pocket burger has a lot of stuff in between the buns - Angus beef pattie, bacon, avocado, eggs, lettuce, tomato, and the yummy sweet BBQ sauce. It was messy but so good. The fries that come with it are crunchy and good! California burrito is a beast. It has French fries inside the burrito...! Meaty and cheesy, it's so big that you may not be able finish it even! There are other things on the menu that also looked good. There are two tables inside and a few tables outside. We went as late lunch so there was only a short line. This family-owned restaurant had local regulars supporting the business. There is a tattoo shop next to it so some people come here while someone is getting a tattoo too. Parking lot is small but you can find a spot somewhere nearby if it's full. read more

Found this local burger spot and decided to try some of their yummy food. I called in my order and spoke to the owner who was friendly, nice and very helpful. My husband had the tri-tip burger with garlic fries and it was so delicious! The burger was moist, it had mushrooms and caramelizas onions it had a great steak flavor & the garlic fries were amazing! Fries were extra crispy and the garlic butter on them was amazing! I will definitely be getting those garlic fries next time for sure. I decided to have the "Phuket Bowl", it's a Thai rice bowl with chicken & veggies over rice, it has their secret pocket sauce and a peanut sauce, so savory & sweet, I loved it! Portions are actually pretty big surprisingly. The restaurant is very small they only have a takeout/to go option as well as delivery but overall it's a cute little spot I totally recommend! read more

In every way this is face-hole stuffing excellence. I have eaten here a few times. This place is a gem. Every time I've come, I've tried something new and its always amazing. Food is cooked fresh, customer service always comes from a friendly smile. It oozes beach vibe. Jus a lil shack of a place with outdoor seating. I first met Daniel in Home Depot on Warner and Golden West, where I worked in the electrical department. He was wearing a shirt which I believe had the hot dog races on it, and I told him I liked his shirt. I think he said it had to do with a baseball team (Milwaukee Brewers??). As an Angels fan, we talked baseball for a few minutes. Then I asked him what he did. He told me he just bought Pocket Burger and was doing some maintenance on the place but wasn't open yet. I told him I knew of the place. My girlfriend turned me on to it several years ago. I said, "They had the best date shakes in the world!!" Dan apparently didn't know that, and they weren't on the menu he was planning. A little while later, he was back in the store, saw me, and went out of his way to come up to tell me, "Hey, I'm adding date shakes." Come see us. Came in a few weeks later. OMG!! Even better than I remember! His wife lovingly makes him in the back room. It takes a little while, but, boy, are they delicious!!!! Even better than I remember! Served with an oversized straw so the dates don't get stuck. Honestly, I can't even comment on the food we've ordered. Always up to snuff, but the date shakes just turn my mind off to everything else. Drove by today at 5pm and was disappointed they were closed. Currently close at 3pm. It's understandable as it's early spring. Wish they opened at 6:00 am so I could pick up a breakfast burrito before work. Might even be able to swing 7am if I can call in an order. Haven't tried them, but the reviews are great!! The burgers take a while to cook, but they're fresh, and the love that's put into them are epic. Daniel is one of the nicest, sweetest, and most sincere people you will ever meet. Tell your friends!! I know this was probably a big risk for him. Let's make it happen for him and his family by taking our own friends and family here, or telling them about this wonderful lil' hole in the wall. Love ya' Daniel!! Keep the faith. I am not a burger person only because I always get disappointed when most fancy filled burgers don't really taste amazing to me. I have been ordering the classic ones only because I love straight to the point fresh juicy patties with a delicious bun period! Once there's too many things in a burger I always have trouble with the balance of flavors. I am more than happy to find this place!!!!!!!!! I tried the pocket burger and the one with pineapple! It was so good I forgot what it was called cause I just simply ate it all!!! I took a quick picture and didn't check my phone at all during the event (of eating:) it was so juicy and it had a special sauce that went so well with everything. The bun was soft and sweet against the crunchy lettuce and pineapple. It was so good! They have limited seating but I dont think I'd mind standing while eating it. It was that good! read more

I highly recommend trying this place out! The owners is so friendly, it's decently priced and their burgers are delicious. I came to this restaurant per a friend's recommendation a while back and I fell in love with their signiture pocket burger. It literally became one of my favorite burgers. I came back to this place again and my feelings have not changed. I ordered the same pocket burger. The burger is so flavorful and filling with a teriyaki taste to it. The burger has a friend egg, cheese, bacon, beef patty, tomato, avocado, tomato, onions, lettuce. The beef patty was very juicy and tasty. Just the blend of all those favors is what really won me over. The fries is complimentary with the burger order, which were fresh and crispy. I barely was able to finish my order. It is very filling. Two of my other guy friends with me also struggled to finish it. With the size of the burger and the fries, the price of this is similar to other fast food burger joints but the quality of this place is so much better. Definitely will be coming back here. read more

Everything I've had here is good! Tri tip is their speciality, honestly so tasty. Salmon burger is thick and juicy, I recommend getting it with jalapeño. Love their specials. Great milkshakes. Can't go wrong with anything here! Our group commonly gets the Dakine, Pocket, Salmon and TrI Tip Burgers. But their chicken and tri tip bowls are really good as well. read more

This place is a gem. The staff, especially Lori, is so friendly and it feels like home once you walk in because they all go out of their way to make sure you're happy with your meal. Lori recommended the Agua Fresca that was made of mango and passion fruit. I'm not a big fan of agua frescas but I couldn't help but steal a few gulps from my girlfriend's drink. The food was so good. Words don't do the food Justice. The meat is so fresh and juicy. The onion rings were so crunchy! The garlic fries were the star of the show. Pocket Burger Shack is a new favorite local spot for me that I will be returning too weekly! Lori is the sweetest and makes you feel right at home! I definitely recommend the agua fresca of the day and their signature pocket burger. What a pleasant little gem! We had a pocket burger and upgraded to garlic fries. The burger was juicy, cooked to perfection. The garlic fries were crispy with a great amount of flavor but not overwhelmingly salty. The owners are helpful and very pleasant. Probably one of the top 5 best burgers I've had in 38 years of life..and that says a lot because I am a burger enthusiast. The patty was large, perfectly cooked ( medium rare) and seasoned... the owners greeted me, prepared my burger, and walked it out to me.. no wonder it's been a staple in Sunset Beach for years.. it was worth every cent, you won't leave here hungry. read more

If you're looking for a good hole-in-the wall/mom and pop joint, check this place out. My partner and I are glad we stopped by. The food and service was beyond anything we could have expected. The burger was huge and one of the tastiest we've ever had. They come with fries, which were great too (both garlic and regular). The flavor and crispiness is on point. I also recommend the coconut lemonade. We were told it was the first day it was served and I think they should keep it on the menu. It's a really good lemonade combo. I was going to give this place 4 stars just because it is small, two tables inside and three tables outside, however the customer service was awesome and you don't get that often so I gave it a 5. I ordered the OC Burger, which is a thick hamburger on nice, tasty buns, cheese, and jalapeno peppers, with fries on the side, and I also ordered the sweet Thai tea. It was super tasty and the side of fries was just the right amount. My best friend got the Da Kine Burger with garlic fries, I tasted the garlic fries and they were really good, I didn't taste his burger, it came with a slice of pineapple, but he liked it, and he's super picky with his food. Everything came to about $24 if I remember correctly and we sat outside, watching people walk around with no shoes on. It took me like 8 minutes to decide the entire menu I shall try eventually, there were burgers, rice/veggie bowls (vegetarian or w/meat), burritos, quesadillas, milkshakes, sweet Thai tea (Mmmmm), and a crepe dessert from Bangkok that I was too full to try, but it's on my to eat list. If you haven't been here before, keep an eye out for tables and people eating, because it's easy to miss, it's right next to a tattoo parlor. I turned down 11th street and parked behind it in that long parking "lot" between the beach and apartments. There is a little water stand with ice cold water next to the door, with cups, so you don't even have to wait for that to be brought to you, you can just get water yourself. The staff is super friendly and patient. Usually in my experiences, at small places you get your own food, but the food gets brought to you here and they checked up on us twice asking how everything was, so DON'T FORGET TO TIP! There's a tip jar right on the counter, all I had was a $50 and some ones, so I tipped $4. Well...I gave my best friend the $4 to tip because he wanted to go back to the counter because he thought one of the girls that worked there was hot lol. Definitely found a new spot to eat and I definitely recommend this place to people looking for good food. read more

When they say my favorite place to grab aquick bite to eat this one of those places family owned and run so you know the service is good but I go there for the food am always on the run so always to go for me never been disappointed my favorite though is the pocket burger it was picked one of the best in so cal when I say best I mean one the best 100 but it's not something you want to eat every day only when you're not counting calories and if you are they have other things you will be happy with so food gets 5star the place is clean but tiny give it a try I think you'll be happy you did; Marc sunset read more

Absolutely even MORE amazing with the new owner Laurie than it was in 2017! I made a special trip with my kids to go to this cute "hole in the wall" on Sunset Beach where they literally have the BEST BURGERS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! And let me tell you I've had a LOT of burgers! Get the pocket burger! It's just incredible! Also, I've been grain free and keto and she even toasted my own keto grain free bun for me! The cook (who I think may have been the owner) was so nice! He gave my kids lollypops while we waited and chatted with my brother while he cooked. The Pocket Burger was so big, I was barely able to put it in my mouth, and it was so delicious! My brother got the TriTip Burrito and he still raves about how good it was and can't wait to have another. My kids got a TriTip Quesadilla- let me tell you...that thing outdid any quesadilla we've seen in our time. There was so much cheese on it, you could barely tell there was a tortilla. Today we decided to visit our dear friends Daniel and Lori. They own Pocket Burger Shack. Great food. Today we got the Pocket Burger with Garlic fries, aqua Fresca. Wifey got the bacon burger with regular fries. Delicious food The service was excellent we were helped by Daniel. Maria cooked the food and did an amazing job. Fernando handed us the food. This place is a little pricey for a burger joint but well worth it. The food and service is great. I ordered the Pocket Burger which comes with avocado, bacon, a fried egg and cheese. It has a sauce that tastes sorta like teriyaki sauce. The meat was juicy and not over cooked, and the burger comes loaded. I have also had the tri tip quesadilla, which is a great snack. The owner of this place is super friendly. The service is also friendly and quick. The place has limited seating and is fairly small. read more

No wonder about the good reviews for both customer service and food. The people are very friendly, and the regular fries are perfectly crispy on the outside. A great snack for the car ride. Be sure to get the side of ranch. The burger will be big and messy so be prepared with lots of napkins! But it's worth it. Turn on 11th where you will find parking spaces if none on PCH. read more

Great service!!! This place has great bacon wrapped hot dogs in a soft bun filled with great grilled veggies. I am a big USC football fan and love the bacon wrapped hotdogs outside the stadium so i was pleased to find a local place that serves even better dogs than the stadium. Highly recommend!!! read more
