We like a good smash burger with an ocean view. Sunset Beach is such an iconic OC location. I don't know why we haven't eaten here before. Probably, only because there are so many wonderful restaurants in a 15 minute driving radius from our homes. Green Cheek Beer Co is the perfect example. I have driven by this place 1000 times in the past decade or so. We came, we marveled at the ample parking lot, the amazing rooftop patio, fabulous fast, made-to-order food. The friendly service, the locally brewed craft beer, this is a new favorite! Next time I will wear my board shorts, and catch a few tasty waves before lunch!
Solid beer selection, and the food menu looked pretty good. You order up at a counter and get a buzzer when food is ready so minimal staff interaction. It's close to the water but the roof top seating faces away from the ocean which I was disappointed in. Overall decent place to stop for a drink and food.
Quintessential California, enjoying a post work happy hour on the back patio on a beautiful day with ocean views. Staff was helping offering sampling to ensure what you pick is perfect for your palette. We did the leap and got the big kahuna Fishbowl of Youth. It is herbal while being warmth and the right amount of fun to a summer day. Keep in mind there is a deposits for this goblet beauty. As long as you return, you shouldn't have any issues. Easily shareable with two or one if you enjoy for hours. Looking forward to trying the lemonade seltzer and sours next time
My new favorite Green Cheek location with a rooftop and seamless service both upstairs and downstairs. I'm a consistent fan of their Hazys. There's a small view of the ocean as well and several options to sit under the shade.
Beers - excellent choices and very mouth wateringly delious and quenching. Food- just had their fries, but well executed and hard to stop until they are all gone. Good crunch covered by hot, melted gooey cheese topped with grilled onions. Clean restroom Customer service - genuinely friendly and helpful. Parking - limited small private lot, but decent public parking right behind the place. Vibe- mellow and easy going
Drinks are always great quality. Service is quick, and the servers are courteous and helpful. Merchandise is always rotating so if you like something grab it before it's gone. Location has a small parking lot, with semi tight spaces but it's expected due to their location. It's dog friendly and has a second story balcony where you can see the beach. Overall awesome place!

Met up with a good friend of mine, who recommend Green Cheek in Sunset Beach. It's rare to see their beers on tap in NoCal, so I was excited to partake while visiting SoCal. I arrived earlier than expected and parking was a nightmare. Always is in the beach communities, but parked about 4 blocks away with an easy walk to the establishment. There was no parking available in their small lot but the drive through window to pick up beer was a neat idea. I was fortunate to find a table downstairs at the back the tap room near the stairs and decided to start with Flying South, a 5% Mexican-Style lager. Really enjoyable, simple on the nose and palate. Followed this up with Good For Morale, which was my favorite beer of the day. Still on a Czech Pils kick after returning from Prague and this offering quite rich and full with a mild sweetness. I finished the day with an order with Lots of Fries and a Classic Double Smashburger and 8 year Vol. 1, a Wesdt Coast Pils. Layered with a plethora of hops, this was a very fruity pils with very good aromatics. All in all this was a great family friend establishment to visit. It was crowded on the Sunday we were there, but there was always a place to sit, either downstairs inside, or upstairs, outside. The staff was friendly and helping and the taproom very inviting. Great beer and food, would recommend this place if you are in HB!
Cool spot with great food and an even better atmosphere. Parking can be a bit challenging, even though there's a small lot, it fills up quickly. The upstairs patio is definitely the highlight: yellow umbrellas, a relaxed vibe, and views over the residential side, with little glimpses of the ocean between the houses. It's a unique setup, especially considering one side of the restaurant faces a busy street while the patio feels calm and tucked away. The menu is small and well curated, which makes ordering easy. We tried both smashburgers and the ahi tuna--everything was delicious. Service was friendly and on point. A great place to enjoy good food in a laid-back but thoughtfully designed setting.
The porter that was recommended to me was the best glass of beer that I have ever had. I wish I knew the name. The vibe was festive and relaxing, and there were plenty of laid-back dogs lounging next to their buzzed humans. I had higher hopes for their food, after reading the hyped reviews of many fellow yelpers. But when I tried my smash burger, I was overwhelmed. The bun was relatively small, and there was just two patties and American cheese in the sandwich. I thought lettuce and tomato ought to be the standard ingredients for a $15 burger, but it was not to be. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich and salad, and we both feasted on their tater tots. Come for the beer, good company, and ocean breeze. Food should not be your priority. Parking was a nightmare, but that was to be expected along the beach.
Not a very memorable location. If it wasn't near the beach, I don't think this place would be worth visiting. The beer selection was fine, but the air was warm, so the glass of the cups and pitcher was warm. So that made the beer warm pretty fast. The food is what you'd expect from a bar/brewery, so it's on the saltier side with nothing to make it stand out.

I'm obsessed with the lavender lemonade and sometimes just commit to a whole pitcher like the classy beach bum I am. Service is fast for drinks, food takes a bit longer, but grab a seat upstairs and soak in those SoCal vibes. Beer, sun, ocean breeze--what more do you need? Come for the brews, stay for the tater tots, and bike home to feel less guilty about it all.
The smash burger never fails here. My friend got the chicken sandwich and said it was good, but spicy. The tater tots for some reason were all stuck together. The wings and ranch are very good here.
First time at Green Cheek Beer Company in Sunset Beach and I loved it! We stopped here after kayaking/paddleboarding at OC Paddle Sports nearby, and it was the perfect spot afterward. I ordered the chicken club and it was really good! We came with a group of about 15 girls, and even with our large party, they got our food out pretty quickly. But OMG -- the peach tea lemonade slushy! SO GOOD! You do have to go upstairs to get the slushies, which I didn't realize at first since it was my first visit. Food is picked up downstairs, but honestly, the lines moved quickly, so it wasn't a big deal. I'm actually glad I ended up going upstairs because the atmosphere up there was great. Sitting upstairs with that nice ocean breeze, enjoying my slushy after being out on the water was perfect. Great food, fast service, reasonable wait even with a big group, and a really nice laid-back atmosphere. Definitely coming back! read more

Was an excellent burger! . The alcohol lemonade seltzer was fantastic also. The cheese sauce and fries were all smash hits. Ill need to wait a while to come back. I had surgery on Monday and i could not last long at all they have absolute terrible seating. im only rating the food read more

I've been here twice now, and I have to say, Green Cheek Beer Co. is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! The first time I came, a friend introduced me to their Lavender Lemonade Hard Seltzer, and I've been craving it ever since. It's the perfect balance of refreshing and subtly sweet - just an absolute delight. On my second visit, I was so excited to grab my Lavender Lemonade seltzer again, but the cashier also recommended I try the Pierre's Palmona Hard Seltzer. He gave me a sample, and wow! It was just as delicious! I'm definitely coming back for more of that one too! I love that they offer their seltzers and beers in 4-packs, so you can take your favorites home with you. And the food--let me just say, my friend ordered the lemon pepper wings, and he couldn't stop raving about them. They were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely worth trying! The location is amazing too - right between the harbour and the beach, so it's the perfect spot to enjoy a drink after a day by the water. If you're in the area, this place is an absolute must-visit. Great vibes, great drinks, great food and great service - what more could you want? Can't wait to go back! read more

A neighbor of mine told me about this place and the good food that comes out of their kitchen. They dont have a big parking lot, so sometimes you have to park out on PCH. They do have a decent patio on the second floor, and either inside or outside, its very dog friendly. The burger was awesome and the fries were good too. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich and told me it was bomb. The beer choices are great and the pilsner i had was smooth and crisp. I told a friend of mine that they had a Tetris arcade there and hes excited to come put his name all over it. They have a drive thru for food and beer so i found that to be a cool feature if you live in surfside or close to it. read more

This place was perfect after kayaking. The view from their second floor roof top seating was so perfect. We were abe to get seating quickly, and enjoyed our beer with the view of the ocean. The girl who helped us was knowledgable about their selection. I appreciated the umbrellas they had too. Even tho its winter, the sun still def hits. We also ordered their loaded tots which hit the spot. It was a perfect size to share between 2. Parking was also convenient with their private lot. A great place. Will def stop by again next time I am in the area. read more

It was a beautiful day at Green Cheek so we decided to enjoy our drinks on the roof top patio. The views are great and there's plenty of shady tables to sit. Sunshine, a cute boy and some good beers, it was a great day. We didn't get food because my sister already decided she needed pizza at our last brewery stop but I did drool over some guys burger who was sitting near us. (Dang that thing looked good) I love this spot for the ambience. read more

Nice brewpub in sunset beach ca....solid selection of beers to choose from, all are very good...food was good as well....service is walk up and order...ambiance is cool, rooftop has a slight ocean view if in the right area, the inner downstairs area was warm and not comfortable so the outdoor top area is the recommendation...all in all the beer is what makes it worth the visit....RECOMMEND read more

Was looking for a nice lunch place after SUP nearby and decided here due to their patio seating for the beach views. It's two stories with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We sat upstairs and music was not too loud. Excellent service: when (didn't get a chance to get her name, but she has black wavy hair and super nice) overheard it was my husband's birthday, they gave him a beer on the house- we were so touched by that gesture, you rock! We ordered the smashburger with fries and it was an excellent choice! My husband enjoyed his birthday beer. I didn't know that Green Cheek was in reference to a type of parrot, Green Cheek Conure, so I immediately loved this place for it and had to buy their merchandise: variety of Tshirts with their logo and stickers. Tshirts are $20 and good quality/soft to the touch. They also had chew toys, frisbees and beer too! Don't forget to take a photo op outside their building! Definitely coming back for their food, customer service and Green Cheek beer! read more

You order food at the bar and they give you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off, go to the bar and get your food. Beer is served at the bar.

I have seen dogs inside on more than one occasion, although I don't know if there's an official policy.
