We stopped in for brunch and were really impressed! The smoked salmon from the brunch menu was amazing, and they definitely don't skimp on the portion size. The mango shrimp salad was fresh and delicious. My only suggestion would be to serve the shrimp chilled instead of warm, but it was still very flavorful. We'll definitely be back! Next time I'm looking forward to trying the clam chowder.

Clean establishment, fair size bar with several smaller tv's for games. Large free parking lot. We came to check out the happy hour which was a bit lack luster (photos attached). Raw oysters looked the most appealing, we ordered 10. All were smaller than the size of a half dollar, no oyster forks available and minimal hot sauce options. The regular menu had a large selection, prices are higher than other local spots. This was experience was average overall including service. Location is convenient and due to the size probably doesn't experience long wait times.

AMAZING fish & chips. The side salad is also incredible and filled with lots of veggies!

... I was so excited to come back again so soon, but MAYBE I should have gone with the Fish & Chips again, but I just wanted to eat a bit healthier (not fried).... So if you'll notice, the crab cakes on Yelp look fantastic, BUT THEY NO LONGER SERVE THEM (changed to (tiny) deep fried crab fritters, SMH), so I got the chilled jumbo shrimp which were fantastic, but pricey at $5 per shrimp. Also decided to try the rolls with lobster butter to share, which were a total disappointment, right down to the rolls. They were "toasted", which sound fine, but ended up to be really crusty and dry inside. They didn't appear home made either, and had everything bagel seasoning sprinkled on top. I'm a total bread lover, but these rolls just didn't cut it. The lobster "butter" that came with them WAS 99.9% butter. After getting past the tiny speck of lobster garnish, there was absolutely no additional lobster mixed in the butter. So, for bread and butter, which is normally comp at nice restaurants.... this alone was $12 for 3 rolls and "butter".... (some of the photos looked way better than ours, unfortunately) My friend was totally craving the lobster roll, so she (almost) didn't care how much it was... so $38 later, she had a semi-so-so lobster roll. My other friend got the two handed fish burger after I told her the F&C were incredible. Lots of bread here. She said the fish was a little greasy and just ok, so she picked on her fish & the fries. I'll be back, but it will be awhile after each of us paying around $50 "each" for lunch.

I was able to reserve a reservation about three weeks ago from Mother's Day brunch. They have a reasonably priced menu for Sundays after church, perfect place on a nice warm day by the beach. I ordered the cioppino, my son ordered their brown butter, chicken, and the other one with the photo not pictured ordered steak Frites. The calamari was also excellent. Definitely a great price point for the location, service was impeccable, and the restaurant is clean. I love visiting here and will come back!

Stopped by here on a Wednesday for happy hour. The $1.5 oysters were a steal! They were fresh and tasty. The fish tacos were perfect and the sauces complimented the taco really well. The clam chowder was not as creamy as I thought but not too bad. The disco fries were a nice little treat. The service was good and the ambiance was nice especially outside.

We loved this place so much that we went twice over the weekend we were in the area. Both servers were phenomenal. The hosts are kind and attentive. The food is amazing. Utterly loved the chill vibe. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The outdoor dining is very nice. The food however was not that good in my opinion. I got clam chowder minus the bacon, and the crispy fish tacos. My daughter ordered the shrimp fried rice. I expected the clam chowder to be amazing considering it's coming from a fish house on the beach, but it tasted like it came from a can. The tacos were not that flavorful. The only thing that was decent was the shrimp fried rice. Very nice locals and friendly people! I'm giving them a 2 only because the people were really friendly. Spend your money on better seafood!

Great seaside restaurant. We had the clam chowder, Hamachi Crudo, pan seared jumbo scallops & ahi tuna steak. Highly recommend.

Had a really nice lunch on their outdoor patio. Dog friendly. Service and food were both good. Only thing was some of the food seemed to be missing a little bit of flavor. The poke bowl needed some soy sauce and the handheld fish sandwich needed a little more seasoning But otherwise everything was really tasty. The shrimp baguette was our favorite, it comes open face. The rolls with lobster butter were good but didn't taste much like lobster and just were giant fluffy rolls, not bad but wouldn't waste space on next time. Overall enjoyed an would come back to try some other dishes

My friend I was hiking in the area & I've been telling her about this place as one of my go-to whenever I'm in the area. She wanted to check it out so we came here for lunch. We sat outside since the weather was beautiful. I had her try the salty roll, Caesar salad, & hamachi crudo which are easily my favorites. She gave it a thumbs up. We also tried the shrimp baguette which I haven't had before but it was packed with flavor & delicious! It tasted like a banh-mi sandwich. Service is always polite & consistently great! Will continue to come back.

First time at Calico Fish House- Location is great. Lovely deck patio so close to the ocean- was getting a nice beachy fog. Nice menu options, wish they had a lobster mac!! The bread was great and decent hamachi crudo. However they reaaallly use the "everything but the bagel" seasoning honestly a little too much. My bf had the lobster cheeseburger- fries were good and generous amounts of lobster I had the ahi tuna steak with spinach and garlic rice. It was okay, not much flavor with all the toppings unfortunately. Also I believe it gave me food poisoning... Overall food is pretty basic, relies a bit too much on the everything seasoning. Cocktails seemed batched but still good. Service was comfortable but seemed a bit understaffed on Friday night. For the price of everything I would definitely expect a lottttt more

We recently visited Calico Fish House and overall had a really enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is definitely one of the highlights, the restaurant has a very relaxed coastal feel that fits Huntington Beach perfectly without feeling overly touristy. The patio was especially nice. It's spacious, comfortable, and had a great ambiance for a long dinner with my family. Between the lighting, ocean air, and overall vibe, it felt like the kind of place you want to linger at for a while. The food was also genuinely good. The seafood tasted fresh, portions were solid, and everything we ordered came out well prepared and flavorful. You can tell they put thought into the menu rather than relying purely on the location. A few dishes really stood out and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars was the service. Everyone was friendly, but it felt a little inattentive throughout the meal. We had a few long waits for ordering, drink refills, and getting the bill. Nothing rude or terrible, just slightly inconsistent, especially considering the price point. That said, the atmosphere and food absolutely make it worth visiting, especially if you can grab a table on the patio around sunset.

Came here for brunch. We got there right when they opened so we were seated right away. The vibe is beach casual and everything is clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. We ordered a blackberry sage lemonade to drink, a calamari to start, and pan roasted jumbo sea scallops and shrimp fritata for entrees. Blackberry Sage Lemonade- Sweet and refreshing! The blackberry flavor takes center stage with the sage an herby accent. Goes well with the lemon base. Calamari- The breading is seasoned perfectly and fried crisp. The interior is chewy and fresh. The sauce provided gives it an extra layer of flavor. Pan Roasted Jumbo Sea Scallops- Scallops were fresh and meaty. It has a nice sear while remaining tender inside. Served with delicious potato balls and a crisp salad. Shrimp Fritata- Eggs are fluffy and loaded with potatoes and fresh shrimp. Beautifully seasoned and served with a zesty salad. Great experience overall!

Is it true that they allow dogs in the restaurant? (That is my concern after reading one of the reviews.) This seems unhygienic and a health code violation.

    Go away Karen.

Would it be possible to make reservations?

We are currently not taking reservations unless it’s a party of 8+

How do you make reservations when the phone # doesn't work?

Not sure on that, that's not good at all, but maybe try Facebook and leave a message for them there? https://www.facebook.com/CalicoFishHouse good luck!!!

Is there a HH? If not, do they ever plan to have one?

Right now it doesn't look like it, but it might be best to call the restaurant itself and speak to the owners for plans! That way you get the absolute correct answer!

Do they charge a corkage fee?

    Yes, it's $15

TLDR: It's a very good spot for pizza and beer. I feel that the location is amazing, and the vibe…read moreof the place is hard to beat. My only complaint is parking, but I'm lucky enough to have gotten a slot just before giving up. Fantastical Funghi: It's one of those rare moments where you get a pizza that maintains its quality from the first bite to the drive home and the reheating process. My main complaint when eating truffle or heavy mushroom-related food is that the truffle essence rarely lasts longer than the first 2-3 bites. Such a concern is not an issue for this pizza, as I've had this pizza more than once, and the taste generally stays the same regardless of how you eat it. My favorite is the ricotta cheese, you could really feel the difference that it makes every time you get a bite with it. Kokomocha: You love mocha, but you can't find a Porter/Stout that suits your taste. Look no further. I would say the taste ratio is 30% alcohol and 70% mocha. Enough alcohol to know that it will hit down the line, but more than enough mocha to enjoy it as its own. Ambiance: Beautiful. I would love to have lunch here on the weekend. The bar is a good vibe, and the restaurant itself is generally inviting. Warning about the parking, as it's hard to find parking. Service: Good. The staff are nice, and things arrive within a reasonable time.

Sadly this pizza joint was a miss for me. Great vibes, location, and staff but the pizza was too…read moredry for me and lacked in flavor. It all tasted more like bread with added toppings than a cohesive pizza full of flavor. Did NOT lack in crunch though which was nice! Spicy vodka slice 2/10- sauce was too chunky and tasted predominately of "spicy" not the tomato/cream/vodka flavor I was hoping for. Because the slice is a cheese slice with dollops of sauce it was overall very dry. Pepperoni slice 5/10- good flavors but dry Cheesy bread nugs 1/10- biggest miss. Looked great but tasted like pre baked bread which had cheese thrown on top and broiled to order. It was extremely dry and the cheese got hard, it wasn't oily and stringy and super cheesy like I was hoping. Pickled eggs-skip it. Wasn't even worth ordering.
