    Jr bacon cheeseburger
    Darci Y.

I made a reservation for 7pm stating in the reservation it was for my birthday... nothing was said the entire meal. Why ask if there is a special celebration if it isnt recognized at all? The inside has no AC... or it wasn't working if they did. I would have sat outside had I known... We were sat immediately and drink orders taken but then it took a while for them to arrive. Then my husband and son ordered half a dozen oysters and our server disappeared for a good 30 minutes. Oysters came and were eaten and he still had not come back to get our dinner order. My other 3 kids were very hungry and asked when the food was coming and I had to explain we hadnt ordered the food yet. We got 2 lobster boils, one shell cracked, one non cracked, halibut, scallops with asparagus, jr bacon cheeseburger and grilled cheese. My lobster lacked flavor..usually it is served with butter that is salted and lemon. The butter almost was magarine.. not actual butter..and no lemon. The bread wasnt buttered either. For $56, I expect more. The jr bacon cheeseburger also lacked flavor. I am not sure they seasoned the meat... the grilled cheese was good but the side of tomato dipping sauce was cold.. The halibut was absolutely delicious as were the scallops. I was eating my son's leftover asparagus when the server came and took the plate away... apparently I wasn't supposed to finish his food. I got the blackberry lemonade cocktail and the alcohol content was weak. I'm Asian and lack the enzyme that processes alcohol (look up Asian glow or Asian red face when drinking alcohol)... and normally cannot finish a cocktail because of that.... and this is was able to down with no issues. Overall, with the reviews I expected much more. We are visiting from AZ and have better lobster there... which is ridiculous since this restaurant is right next to the ocean and AZ clearly is not.

Came for an early dinner and had no problem getting seated! We sat in the patio and it was a beautiful night. We got the scallops with asparagus, grilled fish tacos, cookies with ice cream for dessert. 5/5 Scallops were beautifully made with the most flavorful citrus lime sauce 3/5 fish tacos- fish was dry but the sauce was really yummy. Wouldn't get it again. 3/5 cookies were too sweet for me...couldn't even finish one. (I rarely meet a chocolate chip cookie I don't inhale) Would definitely come back and try some more things. I have my eye on a few things already!

What an awesome place! Came here to do a late bday celebration for my husband & I.To begin we had a sparkling rose and a 4 sons hazy IPA. Then had crispy calamari as an appetizer. My husband had a lobster cheeseburger and I had the Calico cioppino. Both dishes were so good! Service the best. Since it was a very hot day, we sat inside and the noise level was good.

Holy moly this place is so yummy! Great replacement for the tired restaurant that was here before. Calico uses no seed oils- and many of the items are naturally gluten-free or can be easily prepared that way. I haven't been able to have poke and I can't tell you how long... So when I saw it was gluten free, I had to order it! The portion sizes are great. I could barely finish my whole meal... But I left stuffed! My girlfriend ordered fish tacos. They were on the lighter side, but she said they were absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back. Service was amazing and the decor of the restaurant is just coastal perfection

Loved having my birthday brunch on the best patio Huntington has to offer. Our server, Riley was absolutely on top of it, super friendly and did great with our table of 5 adults, plus a child and a dog. We got things rolling with apps and drinks. Our first course started with lobster deviled eggs, calamari and smoked salmon. Everything was fresh and delish. All 5 adults ordered something different as a main, from lobster burger to fish and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Such a fun inviting atmosphere to spend an afternoon with my sweet friends and family. Dog friendly patio is always a plus!

We were seated on the deck immediately after arriving. Our server quickly left water and took our drink order. For an appetizer we had the sweet & salty rolls with lobster butter. They were outstanding! Melted in the mouth without the butter. The food arrived quickly after ordering. The clam chowder was very good. The ceviche has a great flavor and a bit of spice with fresh jalapeños and seasoned homemade chips. The lobster and shrimp ramen was full of shrimp and noodles. Very good! I definitely recommend Calico Fish House!

Clean establishment, fair size bar with several smaller tv's for games. Large free parking lot. We came to check out the happy hour which was a bit lack luster (photos attached). Raw oysters looked the most appealing, we ordered 10. All were smaller than the size of a half dollar, no oyster forks available and minimal hot sauce options. The regular menu had a large selection, prices are higher than other local spots. This was experience was average overall including service. Location is convenient and due to the size probably doesn't experience long wait times.

Since we were by to ocean, it would only make sense to get a seafood meal in! Decided to give it a try since it has pretty good rating on yelp. Got sat down within 30-40mins after we checked in. We started of with half split dozen oyster between Pacific and Washington, I wish our food runner was able to introduce or point out which is which since they look pretty similar. Regardless, they all tasted firm and fresh. Cioppino has a nice blend of seafood cooked just perfectly in the well-seasoned broth. Cheeseburger got a good chunk of lobster and match just right with the brioche. I would love to visit again.

I was able to reserve a reservation about three weeks ago from Mother's Day brunch. They have a reasonably priced menu for Sundays after church, perfect place on a nice warm day by the beach. I ordered the cioppino, my son ordered their brown butter, chicken, and the other one with the photo not pictured ordered steak Frites. The calamari was also excellent. Definitely a great price point for the location, service was impeccable, and the restaurant is clean. I love visiting here and will come back!

We had a group of 6 that all ordered the fish and chips. We all liked it! Big pieces of fish heavily battered and crunchy the fries were ok in my opinion little thick and undercooked but ok. Service was good left us drink less for a bit.. kind of bugs me personally but all in all good food. Nice place to sit and eat outside. I would definitely come here again.

    Clam chowder

The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The outdoor dining is very nice. The food however was not that good in my opinion. I got clam chowder minus the bacon, and the crispy fish tacos. My daughter ordered the shrimp fried rice. I expected the clam chowder to be amazing considering it's coming from a fish house on the beach, but it tasted like it came from a can. The tacos were not that flavorful. The only thing that was decent was the shrimp fried rice. Very nice locals and friendly people! I'm giving them a 2 only because the people were really friendly. Spend your money on better seafood!

    Steph M.

We stopped in for brunch and were really impressed! The smoked salmon from the brunch menu was amazing, and they definitely don't skimp on the portion size. The mango shrimp salad was fresh and delicious. My only suggestion would be to serve the shrimp chilled instead of warm, but it was still very flavorful. We'll definitely be back! Next time I'm looking forward to trying the clam chowder.

Stopped by here on a Wednesday for happy hour. The $1.5 oysters were a steal! They were fresh and tasty. The fish tacos were perfect and the sauces complimented the taco really well. The clam chowder was not as creamy as I thought but not too bad. The disco fries were a nice little treat. The service was good and the ambiance was nice especially outside.

Captain Jack's is the culinary equivalent of that friend who's been gorgeous for 40 years and…read moresomehow keeps getting better. The food? Consistently good. Always has been. That's actually the problem. Lately my visits have consisted of a crab-stuffed mushroom appetizer, linguine and clams, lamb, halibut, and steak. In other words, I apparently walked in for dinner and accidentally financed a small yacht. And I have a legitimate question: Is New Zealand the only place on Earth with sheep? Every restaurant that serves lamb proudly announces, "Product of New Zealand." Are American sheep all on vacation? Is there an international witness protection program for lamb? Somewhere there's a vaudeville act waiting to happen. "Where's the lamb from?" "New Zealand." "Again?" "What, you wanted Nebraska mutton? Get out." Then there's the menu. About 80% of it simply says "Market Price." At this point I'm thinking of paying in sand dollars. If we're both using the market, maybe I can buy low, sell high, and leave with a profit. Don't misunderstand me--I love Captain Jack's. The food is worth every penny. I just need to start treating dinner reservations like meetings with my financial advisor. My credit card now stands up and applauds every time I pull into the parking lot. Good service. Good food. I'm just waiting for my seafood portfolio to mature before I come back. Bill: +$200

We were really looking forward to trying Captain Jack's for a date night, but unfortunately our…read morefirst experience was pretty disappointing. Walking in, the front dining room had a great atmosphere, it was busy and lively, with a gentleman playing piano and beautiful fish tanks throughout the restaurant. We were greeted right away and only waited a few minutes for our reservation. My husband had specifically reserved a booth, and we were taken to a half-round booth tucked all the way in the back corner of the restaurant. Unfortunately, it is completely removed from the ambiance, piano music, and energy we had enjoyed when we first walked in. The booth itself was also surprisingly uncomfortable. The table fit so tightly into the space that it was difficult to sit comfortably. You would think a tucked-away booth would feel romantic for date night, but it was anything but. Service was good and very attentive, almost overly so, with separate people handling drinks, bread and water, and our main server. Our server brought over the large shark-fin menu and explained the menu and different options, which was unique and a nice touch. The dirty martini was delicious! I was disappointed they didn't have blue cheese olives, and instead it came with a pickled tomato/olive garnish that I personally did not care for. It was a little off-putting expecting a traditional savory olive and getting something sweet and pickled instead. The warm bread was soft and delicious, but oddly served with hard butter pats that were basically impossible to spread. Even putting the butter inside the warm bread and folding it over didn't help much! The dinner salad was HUGE and the blue cheese dressing was delicious, definitely one of the highlights of the meal. For our entrées, I ordered the filet and lobster tail, while my husband ordered the crab legs. We shared a loaded baked potato and asparagus. Thank goodness we only ordered one potato because half was enormous! Unfortunately, this is where the meal really fell short. My filet was extremely tough and pretty flavorless. Both the texture and flavor honestly reminded me more of sirloin than filet. The lobster, which was served already removed from the shell, was overcooked, tough and chewy. My husband's crab legs were good. The asparagus, however, was very overcooked and had no seasoning just a ramekin of butter on the side to pour over it. The plating was also surprisingly cramped. Between the entrées and the huge baked potato, there was barely enough room on the plates to cut and prepare everything comfortably. Larger plates and a little more attention to presentation would have made a big difference, especially at this price point. Overall, there were definitely some positives: attentive service, a great dirty martini, delicious bread and salad, and a beautiful, lively atmosphere in the front of the restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't get to experience much of that atmosphere from where we were seated, and the quality and preparation of our main entrées simply didn't match what we expected. For a restaurant with this reputation and price point, we expected a much better dining experience. Sadly, our first date night at Captain Jack's left us pretty disappointed.

Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Parking may be trciky but the whole experience was delightful.
