Ordered a bacon & eggs breakfast, that came with a side hash browns (ordered extra crispy), four slices of bacon, scrambled eggs, and one pancake (lightly dusted with powdered sugar and a side of whipped butter. (~$15) Eggs, bacon, and hash browns were solid. The pancake was also good but it was on the thicker/denser end of pancakes. Still flavorful, their signature pancakes' batter has cinnamon and vanilla in the mix, but I would have hoped for something more moist. All-in-all, solid spot to grab an affordable and filling breakfast. Parking was a bit difficult to find on a Saturday morning at approx. 10am. No wait to be seated though. We went for breakfast, it is a small historic dinner. The service was prompt and friendly. This dinner has the throwback to the 50's feeling and look. The food was good I ordered eggs poached med , polish sausage, fruit and an English muffin. Simple but delicious. There is a patio for added seating. Very cool beach diner. Small inside but very charming. The waitress was awesome, super friendly and warm. You can tell she really enjoys her job, she knows her regulars and it was fun to watch her interactions with them. Our breakfast was really good as well. Stopped by to grab a bite before heading out to Huntington Beach promenade. This place is located right on PCH. It was a Saturday evening and there was plenty of parking. Besides a gentleman sitting at the counter, I believe we were the only other people there. The place has a very diner feel. With the counter and small booths/tables. There is an other room over on your right. This is where we sat. The windows are covered almost completely in stickers. There are surfboards on the ceiling and a cute little vintage jukebox in the wall. Our server was very nice. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and I ordered the avocado tuna melt with the beer battered fries. Everything we ordered was delicious. The tuna melt was on a Parmesan crusted sour dough bread that was the perfect amount of toasty, buttery and salty. Sooo good. They were not stingy with the avocado either. And i can't forget about the fries.... They were hot, fresh and crispy ...Thank you!!!! My husband loved his cheeseburger. He also enjoyed the onion rings very much. Grabbed a quick breakfast at Woody's Diner Right on the Pacific Coast highway at Sunset Beach. This is a cute little diner complete with the round bar stools, small booths, and black and white checkerboard floors. There were even little jukeboxes on some of the tables. There's a second room for overflow crowds or bigger parties. Of course, being right near the beach, there were surfboards as decor. The servers were super friendly, and the food came up fast. I wanted something basic and ordered coffee, two scrambled eggs, and white bread toast. I was happy my eggs came out perfect. It was a good breakfast and honestly enough food that I didn't finish at all. The coffee was so good without a hint of bitterness. Although I only ordered basic, I'm guessing that everything else would be as good. I think this is a solid place for a bite to eat when you're in the area. I feel like I'm cheating on my usual place for coffee across the street from Seal Beach Pier, but it was definitely worth it. read more

I was happily greeted at the door. This location is a small area right off of PCH in Sunset Beach. It seems that there are a lot of regulars that visit here because the waitresses know them by name I ordered a Popeye skillet. I didn't love nor did I dislike it. It was just very meh. I think the potatoes should've been a little bit crispier and because they had spinach in it it made the potatoes a little bit soggy, and there was juice running from the skillet. After a bike ride down PCH this past weekend, my wife and I stopped by Woody's Diner in Sunset Beach for a bite--and we're so glad we did! She ordered the Eggs Benedict, and I went with the Texas Burger. Both were fantastic! The Eggs Benedict had perfectly poached eggs, a rich and creamy hollandaise, and a nicely toasted English muffin. My Texas Burger was everything you want in a burger--juicy, flavorful, and stacked with BBQ sauce, crispy onion rings, and bacon. It hit the spot after the ride! The diner has that classic beachy, laid-back vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly despite it being a busy weekend morning. If you're looking for a true diner spot, this is it! My friend and I wanted to catch up over some diner food to reminisce the times when Mae's Cafe was open. Ironically, this spot is also located right next to Harbor House Cafe! The service here? Impeccable! We were checked on multiple times, and the entire waitlist was fun and friendly. I wanted to be adventurous and try something I've never had before, so I got their Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with a side of onion rings. You can tell an onion ring is good if the whole onion slice doesn't come sliding out after one bite. The sandwich itself, while still good, isn't totally for me. I did like the steak and veggies portion, but the bread didn't do it for me. This diner has bar seating, outdoor-ish patio, and an indoor dining space. There's limited parking, but it doesn't look too busy where you wouldn't be able to find parking. read more

It was perfect, as we were relaxed and beached out, nothing fancy. The ambiance indoors gave you a good feel of a Diner experience. There are table booths, as well as stools at the table top front to eat. Clean environment and Staff were very friendly and patient with us, as their menu selection is HUGE. So much to choose from, and breakfast served all day! Prices were medium range, a generous portion, and food tasted as expected from a Diner. An idea of a check amount; four lunch meal plates, a shakes, and a beer came out to $86. Local to the area and have been coming to Woody's for over five years. This is the first time I have had a bad experience...so much so, that I feel the need to write a review. Showed up at 12:40 on Saturday, was sat in the patio area and gave our drink order (off to a normal start), but for some reason we were then left sitting there for 20 minutes without anyone coming back for our order. Another table was sat, drink order taken, then food order taken...the table next to us was in the same boat and said they were sitting for 30 minutes. The table grabbed the attention of the staff and asked if they could order...she was confused as it wasn't here table but apologized and took their order before stopping by our table to do the same. Then...we sat for 20 more minutes! We saw two other tables in the main dining area sit, give their orders, then get their food. Was not great. When I got up at 1:20 and asked the staff what was going on, I received a reply that "realistically, you have only been waiting for 20 minutes"...I didn't really know what to say as she was referring to the timestamp of the order slip. After that, I decided to leave without receiving our food (2 eggs and bacon, and a sandwich...not a difficult order?) Hoping the management of this location reads this review since there were at least two tables in this same situation. The staff working today was definitely not on their A-game and should not make it a habit to gaslight their guests...I was there 40 minutes and can tell time. read more

Ordered a cheeseburger and beer battered fries. Fries were good and I asked for and got blue cheese dressing for dip for my fries. The burger was fair to medicore. Not horrible but not excellent either. I experienced service that I consider to be good. Just one washroom for everyone, inadequate in my opinion though I am glad that paper towels are available. I might come back sometime in the not too near future to try something else on the menu. This evening I stopped in to this Diner. I was greeted by the nicest sweet young lady as I sat down at the counter. This is my first time here. The place is older but definitely has that old time 1950's charm about it, and everything was impeccably clean. Even though it was dinner time, I didn't have breakfast this morning, and after looking that very extensive menu I chose the diner combo which comprised of VERY generous portions of bacon, eggs and a short stack of pancakes. I also opted for a 4.00 upgrades to my pancakes which encompassed the addition of Berrys, bananas, and coconut flakes! Highly recommend! And great tasting ice tea. My server Elise was so very friendly, and outgoing. She was telling me about her future plans for college, and even introduced me to her sister who was coming on shift. The service was top shelf, and even offered an ice tea to go. The food is very good, and the service outstanding. A very enjoyable meal, will definitely return, and I highly recommend this place, I believe they have other chain diners as well, I can't speak for them, but if you're in Sunset Beach stop in for meal or ice cream Sunday. If you want a classic American diner than you probably shouldn't look any further. Right by the beach and read up one of America's most famous coastal highways since Woody's diner. I had to pop in for breakfast, and I had the woody omelette, which was delicious just sliced avocado toast, bacon, diced bacon, and of course the road toast with with cottage cheese on the side. The coffee is fresh and fast, and I can't say enough good things about the environment if you want a slice of americana! You've got to try all of these menu items that you will be seeing! read more

UPDATED REVIEW: So it's been a few years since the last time I went to Woody's, which was around 2010-2014. Now, things have changed - and may I say for the better? I came here for lunch just yesterday after a nice long walk along PCH from my house, and the hostess/server just greeted me in a snap right when I walked in. I ordered the Picante Burger, and man, did it have a kick to it; but the beer-battered fries were just to DIE FOR! Crunchy on the outside, hot on the inside (but not that hot when it burned my tongue). The burger patty itself was perfectly cooked, yet the amount of ingredients (pico de gallo, avocado, Mayo, etc.) were on point so that they don't fall out of the burger. All in all, my tab was close to $20 (with tax), and may I say it was worth it, after 10-15 years. Thank you, Woody's! read more

ONCE AGAIN, we could not resist the urge to come back to Woody's dinner! The staff is so friendly and the place feels so cozy and comfortable that you feel like you are a long time customer. You always get greeted with smile and they make you feel welcome. This is important for a business especially in an area like Huntington beach or seal beach. She is great! Since we arrived there late and it was not very busy, We also met louisa and chava the cook, great people and also very friendly! Chava has great "sazon" (seasoning hand) when it comes to food, something I consider very important when it comes to cooking, you cannot teach that, you either have it or you don't. Bottom mine is that I have been to many places always searching for that great food, great staff and great prices, woody's has all of the above which is very hard to believe in a chain restaurant (still processing that).
