Poco Loco turned out to be a great find the night before my track day at Dominion Raceway. If you know the area, you know food options are slim near the track, mostly fast food, with better choices five to ten miles away. This little spot is right down the road and was exactly what I needed. The place itself has a cozy, laid back vibe. It felt like the kind of neighborhood Mexican spot I'd go to back home in Gaithersburg. The staff were friendly from the start and got me taken care of quickly, even though I showed up in the middle of a downpour. Service was relaxed and welcoming, which set the tone right away. For dinner I ordered the carne asada platter with a margarita. The steak came out on a sizzling platter, marinated just right, juicy, and cooked beautifully. It was served with a grilled jalapeño on the side that gave it an extra kick. I asked about a spicy salsa and they brought out their house made version that had real heat and real flavor. It was one of the highlights of the meal. Since it was my birthday, I decided to finish it off with a shot of Patron and a Modelo. In a place like Thornburg where you are mostly surrounded by fast food, Poco Loco really shines. Good food, friendly service, and a comfortable setting just a couple minutes from the track. This place was decent. The food was good. Prices were pretty high. We got a lunch soecil which was $14 but a dinner meal was high teens to high 20s. We went for lunch so I don't know about drink specials. We asked but the server seemed confused. Salsa was good but the chunks were pretty big and I think would benefit from being diced more as you get a better flavor blend. I'd eat here again although im still looking for that "go-to" Mexican restaurant. This one didn't hit that market for me. read more

Oh my goodness! Sooooo good. We had an appointment at Duke, this is the second appointment and the second time we ate here because it was sooooo good the first time and they didn't disappoint! They have warm tortilla chips and a delicious salsa on the table before you get your napkin on your lap! Followed by fast, friendly & excellent service (Juan was great) and food that compares to no Mexican restaurant that we have near us (Wilmington area). I wish I were able to pick the entire establishment up and take it home with us. Spotless, comfortable & plentiful seating, Mexican music playing, and a cute atmosphere. Now the best part......THE FOOD! Served in a timely manner with a smile and beyond delicious! It's pretty obvious they take pride in everything they do. Top notch ingredients, fresh and amazingly tasteful! I had the shredded chicken quesadilla meal with a guacamole salad (so fresh and yummy). My husband had the chicken quesadilla with tamale meal with refried beans. I tasted all of his (much to his dismay because he was loving every mouthful! ) and it was all delicious The portions are plentiful and each bite was better than the last. What a fabulous find. Taking a trip to Richmond we got off the Thornburg exit looking for Mexican food and Poco Loco was a short ride off the exit. It's been well over a year or so since I've dined at Poco Loco but I had a wonderful experience today. Greeted as soon as I opened the door, immediately sat and was brought chips and salsa AND the bean dip that I love so much! Service was kind and attentive. I was in a simple mood today so stayed pretty basic but it was really good. I will always say they have THE best queso/cheese dip in surrounding areas of Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg. The chips are served with salsa and a yummy bean dip unlike any other Mexican restaurant around. You've gotta try the margaritas! First of all, the service was great. The staff were super friendly and very fast. Ive been to a LOT of Mexican restaurants (I'm from Texas) and this is the first one that I've seen that served warm bean dip with their chips. It was so good! Salsa was only gringo spicy (ie not spicy at all) but had a good flavor. The Chile rellenos were huge and very, very good. If you like heat, ask for their house made hot sauce. The medium is made with chiles de arbol and was amazing. The margarita was a generous serving size and perfectly refreshing. I really wanted to try their puffy sopapillas but was just too stuffed to eat another bite. Do not miss this gem! read more

This place was very cheap and affordable. I had their enchiladas which tasted amazing. I loved their beef flavor. The chicken flavor was ok. I also really enjoyed their rice it came with, usually I eat the rice as filler but I ate their rice because I genuinely enjoyed the flavor. I was not a fan of their beans. Stopped here while traveling from North Carolina with my family. We used the restroom first and then looked at the menu to see what we would like to order. My 9 year old who can be a bit picky (like most children) decided he didn't like anything on the menu. We decided not to order and gave our thanks. The gentleman working there then states "Oh you guys used the bathroom. If you only wanted to use the bathroom you could've said that".
