I drove past Poco Loco every day, always curious about the place. One day, the family and I stopped by, we were very pleased. The service was quick, the inside is so cute and warm. The drinks were oh so nice and the food was satisfying as well. We've gone multiple times since, I recommend stopping by.

The food was good. The service was excellent. The Margarita on the rocks was excellent. On a Saturday early evening found this place right off the highway in the tiny town of Thornton. Aside from what appeared to be a newly established NASCAR race track behind the Sheets, this placed seemed to be the best thing going.

Poco Loco turned out to be a great find the night before my track day at Dominion Raceway. If you know the area, you know food options are slim near the track, mostly fast food, with better choices five to ten miles away. This little spot is right down the road and was exactly what I needed. The place itself has a cozy, laid back vibe. It felt like the kind of neighborhood Mexican spot I'd go to back home in Gaithersburg. The staff were friendly from the start and got me taken care of quickly, even though I showed up in the middle of a downpour. Service was relaxed and welcoming, which set the tone right away. For dinner I ordered the carne asada platter with a margarita. The steak came out on a sizzling platter, marinated just right, juicy, and cooked beautifully. It was served with a grilled jalapeño on the side that gave it an extra kick. I asked about a spicy salsa and they brought out their house made version that had real heat and real flavor. It was one of the highlights of the meal. Since it was my birthday, I decided to finish it off with a shot of Patron and a Modelo. In a place like Thornburg where you are mostly surrounded by fast food, Poco Loco really shines. Good food, friendly service, and a comfortable setting just a couple minutes from the track. I was glad to spend my birthday dinner here and would definitely go back.

Every thing is still great....had the shrimp fajitas and .....yum! They were terrific! Wife had the arroz con pollo . She loved it! Drinks were beer served ice cold and service was terrific and attentive! Construction all around and entrance was a left and a u turn to get into parking lot. But that was the only thing which was bad and then not even so much lol

It's been a year since my last visit to Thornburg and Polo Loco hasn't missed a beat! Had the enchiladas with rice and beans. Added a bit of their hot salsa and loved the result!

This place was decent. The food was good. Prices were pretty high. We got a lunch soecil which was $14 but a dinner meal was high teens to high 20s. We went for lunch so I don't know about drink specials. We asked but the server seemed confused. Salsa was good but the chunks were pretty big and I think would benefit from being diced more as you get a better flavor blend. I'd eat here again although im still looking for that "go-to" Mexican restaurant. This one didn't hit that market for me.

Food is amazing! 2nd time here. My hubby is in love with the peach margarita. I had the pineapple margarita, which is new, but could t to really tell it was pineapple, more lime to me. Arroz con Pollo was terrific and my husband's steak fajitas were on point. Guacamole was also great. Highly recommend!

I've been coming here since it opened, but I live further away now and don't get to come in as much. It's been well over a year or so since I've dined at Poco Loco but I had a wonderful experience today. Greeted as soon as I opened the door, immediately sat and was brought chips and salsa AND the bean dip that I love so much! Service was kind and attentive. I was in a simple mood today so stayed pretty basic but it was really good. I will always say they have THE best queso/cheese dip in surrounding areas of Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg. Not too salty or overdone. Perfect every time. Looking forward to an appointment I have in a week or so to grab lunch there on my way back home!

Poco Loco is one of our go to Mexican restaurants! We love the fajitas and the burritos are HUGE and tasty smothered with queso. The chips are served with salsa and a yummy bean dip unlike any other Mexican restaurant around. You've gotta try the margaritas! They're the best, especially the frozen ones with no skimp on alcohol. The service is always kind and dependable. The restaurant is cozy inside a renovated house with unique decor. Highly recommend!

Today, hopefully due it being a new establishment on opening day there may have been a few details missed out. They won't have liquor until next week but that's ok. Food looked great but taste was just not the usual. Server was truly awesome and made sure to advise the kitchen that there were a few missed items but definitely looking forward to be here in the future when they are firing off on all cylinders.

Granted the server could have been like it's a white boy they don't know heat or flavor. Meal was a little pricy, it was dinner after all and let's face it everything has gone up in price. Staff seemed nice with what little interaction there was. Four people at the front desk and no one wanted to help us. Place was dead and we had a party of 8, do you want to take our money??? Never saw our server after we gave our orders and got our food. Had to flag people down for help and refills. We did have fun watching our server sitting in a booth playing on their phone. Then we noticed most of the servers weren't paying attention to the diners and were either standing at a work station talking to other employees or on their phones. Completely ignoring patrons... that was amazing fun 2 thumbs up, great watch for the whole family.

It's absolutely beautiful and it's very clear that there was a lot of detail that went into the new restaurant. It's called el gran patron and it's definitely "gran" (great). Upon arrival, you will likely be annoyed with the parking situation. It's a long row with more space further from the restaurant. It's busy and rightfully so. Once you enter the restaurant, you arrive to a pretty entrance. Depending on when you come, it could be very full and that's what happened to me and my family but we got sat way faster than expected. We asked for a server named, Camilo. He's really good and was the best at the previous location. His seating area is near the bar since he's also a bartender. The seating areas include outdoor seating, indoor seating of booths , and indoor seating of chairs. The ambiance is very chill and with the mariachis (Friday) and likely the weekend, it is very fun and lively! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are respectable. With food prices rising and restaurants taking advantage of it, it's currently a great deal (10/11/24). I ordered the fajitas Texanas which are fajitas consisting of steak, chicken, and shrimp. The fajitas include seasonings of onions, tomatoes, and sliced bell peppers. My meal is also served with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, and tortillas . The other meals ordered were the burrito de pony which is a Patron Special (filled with grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, bacon, Mexican white rice, and black beans. It's topped with chipotle sauce, guacamole, and pico de gallo) and the patron quesadilla (includes grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. It's served with lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.) Our dessert was the churros which includes deep-fried pastry, apple coated cinnamon sugar and chocolate, and a serving of a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Alright, this part might sound weird but the bathrooms are very clean and look very clean. Some times, there is a correlation between cleanliness in areas that are not often used and the restaurant. We don't know how the kitchen area is and how clean it is but it's ALWAYS a good sign when the bathrooms are very clean and taken care of. I feel if they care that much about the bathrooms, then even the more important things will be cleaner and taken care (i.e. kitchen area). I will absolutely continue to come back, especially since this place is 3X better than the previous one regarding the size and ambiance.
