Sopes estan Rico!!! Homemade masa base thicker than a tortilla more like a Gordita but not stuffed. Piled on top like a tostada. The squishy delicious first layer is then topped with beans, your choice of meat ( I went with the classic carne Asada) then lettuce, tomato, avocado, sour cream and cojita cheese. This is definitely a fork and knife expedition! Now on to the tacos... they are to made with fresh homemade corn tortillas. Which in itself is heavenly. Then choose your meat. It's then simply dressed with onions and cilantro. They have 2 housemade salsas green which is spicy and red which is more spicy. I ordered a side of beans just to try them. A bit on the thin side and they weren't my favorite. After enjoying the sope and tacos they were unnecessary anyway! Overall a delicious and friendly experience. I stopped in to enjoy tacos for lunch during a weekday and clearly got there before the lunch rush, because I was immediately greeted and I placed my order and sat down. My food came out pretty quickly, it was definitely hot and fresh and they brought two bottles of salsa with it; one verde and one habanero. About 10 mins later I hopped up to get a fork and there was a line out the door and they opened a second cashier! As for the food - It was decent, nothing special, just decent. The beef and chicken didn't have a lot of seasoning to it. The chorizo was your typical chorizo, which is loaded with flavor. The tacos were loaded with diced white onions and cilantro. The tortillas were nice, as they were housemade, which I prefer! The steak in the steak taco was a little tough, but all the tacos held together perfectly. Something odd is that many of these places cut limes wrong, against the grain, so you can't squeeze the juice out without spraying juice everywhere. The dining room is very basic, it's huge, but nothing but tables and chairs as well as a few booths. Overall, I can say I've been, not worried about going back. If I'm in the area and want really good, authentic handheld Mexican (tacos, burritos, tortas, etc), I'm headed to Carnitas Michoacan. read more

I just realized I never left a review for this establishment! THat is preposterous! This is the first and only place that i have attempted to eat beef cheek. I was grossed out by the concept for some reason, but honestly it was so super tender! The girl at the register recommended it and said it was a fan favorite, so we had to get it. The day I went (cinco de mayo) they also had elote, which was mind blowing! It was the first time that I ever had elote and i LOVED it! It is a small establishment, but they are quite efficient and even if they weren't i'd still go, because the food is THAT good! This place was so freaking good! I always look for Lengua and the reviews were legit! The best Lengua taco i have ever had! Flavors were so good! So much going on, literally a party in my mouth! I also got the beef cheek and i ordered 3 of each and could only eat one of each as the size was not what I expected! I am happily taking home the rest for later! Flavios is an authentic Mexican taquería with homemade tortillas to boot. The prices are low and the food, we had beef tongue tacos and a chicken huarache, was delicious. You order at the register and they bring your food out to you when it's ready. The watermelon and pineapple "punch" was made from fresh foot and not from powder or concentrate. I'm only giving this place 4 stars because of a few things that have nothing to do with the quality of the food... For one thing, the plaza it is located in looks sketchy. It isn't the most appealing plaza. We have avoided trying this place for the 8 months we've been in the area, simply because of the plaza! (I know, kind of silly, but we're 'those' kind of people). Once inside, the place is clean! Don't always judge a book by it's cover. The place is small. Nothing wrong with that. Very, very basic. No bells and whistles here. TV in the corner playing Spanish music; the other had soccer...kinda like a Mexican sports bar. That's cool. Everything is served on disposables...Styrofoam cups for our ice water and paper plates with plastic utensils. There are no chips and guac or chips and salsa to be tempted by here. I repeat, NO chips or salsa. None. Nada. Zilch. That can be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. Personally, I love my chips and pico or chips and guac and was silently disappointed, but whatever, I survived (enter this under the minus 1 star). They don't have to be 'unlimited', but it would be nice if they were added to the menu. Some of us are spoiled by the basket of chips. The menu is extremely limited. There isn't much variety and no combo plates. My husband ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and it came with orange rice (which he very much enjoyed) and refried beans. I ordered two carne asadas (steak tacos) that were off the chain! Seriously, everything was so fresh and delicious, I wish I could have eaten more...I was only able to eat one and was in pure heaven with each bite! My tacos came with little slices of radish, which I would have NEVER imagined putting on steak tacos, but the flavors meshed so well. There was a small spread of cilantro and onion across the steak, which was tender and juicy, with a fresh sliced lime on the side. Everything was just perfect! I rate the food, 5/5! Service was 5/5! We were impressed! They were sooo good. We have every intention of ordering from them again, but any future orders will be to go. I'm from Northern Cali and have been having serious burrito withdrawals because there's no places that are anywhere near what burritos are like here in comparison that is, until I was most fortunate enough to eat one at this place! The carne asada is flavorful and the chicken is also well seasoned, the burrito is perfectly filled you get a bite of all the ingredients throughout. The food was lacking flavor. We got tacos and they all pretty much tasted the same. There is no pineapple in the Al pastor tacos if that is something you like. The service is okay. Nothing really to be said. I had to clean our own table before sitting and throw away our plates and food as everything is disposable. You order at the front and sit and wait with a number. The orchata just tasted like plain milk. The tamarind juice was extremely sweet which made it not refreshing. The bathrooms had huge cobwebs on the walls and the seats were peeling and everything felt sticky. I believe how a restaurant keeps the front of the house is how they keep the back. It seemed like they didn't care about how the place looked at all. Or cleanliness. There were a lot of people there which I didn't understand. The prices seem normal. Each taco was 3.50 and an order of 3 empanadas were $8. They make hand made tortillas but all the tacos fell apart on us. The green and red sauce they give for the tacos were good though. Just Ok. The taco shells were too thick and do not stay put. They busted open and the was meat falling out. The beef (Asada ) had good flavor, the chicken too salty. Chicken, beef and beef cheek were all dry. Not a fan of the sauce packets, can we spend a few cents and get containers. We were looking for somewhere new to try and after reading the reviews decided to give Taqueria Flavio a try. Small out of the way place located in a strip-like shopping center with friendly folks answering the phone and working the counter. We did a takeout order; the place was hopping and not an empty seat while I was waiting for our food. I tried a pork burrito and my wife tried the steak. I thought the pork was really good; tender, cooked well and overall the burrito was tasty. The steak was a little dry but overall very flavorful. The only thing we commented on was both burritos would have been better with salsa or sour cream (or both) inside. We tried the sauce that came with (red & green). Both were spicy but not overpowering. All in all I'd get the burrito again but would ask for sour cream on mine. We also decided to try the Sope's which we'd never had before. Again, I opted for pork and the wife went with steak. This street snack favorite in Mexico was unfortunately a no go for me. The base of the Sope is a thick corn tortilla-like masa cake. The toppings were lettuce, sour cream, avocado, tomato and cheese. The slices of avocado (4) covered the top of the Sope. Ended up giving mine to my wife as I'm not an avocado fan unless it's in guacamole. Wife liked hers but wasn't sure she'd get it again. But now we know! Adventure out people! HOLY GUACAMOLE! The best Tacos in Virginia. I have eaten a LOT of tacos, and this place has the best ones without a doubt. Don't let this hole in the wall fool you, because you will regret not stopping by this place when you have the chance. The tortillas are hand made from white corn mix and the tacos come out hot and heaped with meat. Lengua, Carne Asada, Cachete, and Chicken: it's all incredible. Every table has an option of 3 different salsas that are all incredible with varying levels of spice and flavor. I typically use all 3 on my tacos.
