Dry wheat tortillas, burnt chicken. It was pathetic.

What a disaster! If there was an option for zero stars this is what I would have given. I should have been more savvy to try and head to a resto ahead of the holiday weekend and with the World Cup soccer on. We waited 45 mins for a table and the restaurant was packed. Would have been worth the wait if the food lived up to our basic expectations.... But it did not! We were seated at 8pm and despite being successful in getting our drink order fairly quickly after chasing the waitress a further 15 minutes in, we then waited 90 minutes for the food. By the time it arrived, the desire to eat after being in a hot stuffy packed space with no further contact from our waitress or water top ups, had gone. The food looked unappetizing. My guests were given wheat tortillas (when they should have had white flour ones) which were dry and tasteless. It appeared that they ran out of key ingredients for our meals and improvised thinking it would be ok. It was absolutely not! We left the unappetizing food, disappointed and resound never to return. Management did not plan well for this influx of customers tonight. They greedily continued fill take out orders which had the kitchen backed up and diners frustrated and waiting for their food. This was not smart and ultimately I am sure has lost them some customers. I will never return!

This place is wonderful. The food is always great. They are relocating to a bigger spot within the same plaza in a couple months and I look forward to eating there. It looks really nice and it's a new building. We got Mojara frita, fajitas texanas, and burrito "pony". We've also gotten the Hawaiian burger and beer battered fries as well as the quesadilla patron. The drink was a mango chile margarita. I love margaritas and like to try new or different flavors. The horchatas are always good but it would be nice if there was a larger serving of the drink. I've been here several times and the waiter, Camilo (sp?) seems to be the best one. There's another guy that seems pretty good too. They're always hustling and making sure everything is good. I've only had Camilo twice and regret not asking for him every time. It can make a big difference as you may expect. Today, the margaritas weren't as good but I'm not sure why. They usually are pretty good. Don't forget, there is a new location about to open up about a 1/4 mile from here and I can't wait to eat in it when they move over. The current one is getting a bit run down and is dark inside. Some of the tables are chipped and the bathrooms need a remodel and a bit more attendance. I prefer better lit areas and a chill ambiance. I will definitely come to the new location.

We went here on a Sunday afternoon around 5 and it was kind of empty when we arrived but by the time we left at 630 it was packed!! Our food was delicious! We had three classic chicken dishes, arroz con pollo, pollo asado, and one more that had chicken and shrimp covered in cheese sauce. All 3 were cooked to perfection. One of the better Mexican restaurants in the area for sure!

El patron is usually my go to but I ordered Tres Leches cake and it was gross because I could taste that it was in the freezer for a while. It was giving freezer burn and it made my stomach hurt off one bite.

Food is always pretty good. Service is top notch. Only thing I hate is that the handicap parking is so far from the door.

I ordered some food and the ground beef and refried beans was watery. You really couldn't tell the ground beef from the refried beans.

Service was great... seated quickly and our server was attentive. Happy hour deal on margaritas $5! Tasty! Tried appetizer of guac and the cheese dip, both very fresh and good. My son was initially charged $34.39 for two frozen mango margaritas at the bar. Later, he went back up to the bar ordered one frozen strawberry margarita (listed at $15) and a tequila shot ($6), yet was charged $58.46. When I questioned, the female bartender about the price of a frozen margarita, and shot she immediately stated it was $15 and $6 stated that they thought the two earlier frozen mango margaritas had not been paid for. Obviously that was a false statement because they would've never allowed a patriot to walk away without paying for drinks from the bar this was just a way to justify them overcharging him. Although a refund was issued after I raised the issue, it was still inaccurate only $30 was returned instead of the full $34.39, excluding tax. Additionally, no apology or clear explanation was provided. This experience reflects poorly on the establishment's billing accuracy and transparency. Customers should carefully review their charges, as pricing appears inconsistent for identical items. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment.

It's absolutely beautiful and it's very clear that there was a lot of detail that went into the new restaurant. It's called el gran patron and it's definitely "gran" (great). Upon arrival, you will likely be annoyed with the parking situation. It's a long row with more space further from the restaurant. It's busy and rightfully so. Once you enter the restaurant, you arrive to a pretty entrance. Depending on when you come, it could be very full and that's what happened to me and my family but we got sat way faster than expected. We asked for a server named, Camilo. He's really good and was the best at the previous location. His seating area is near the bar since he's also a bartender. The seating areas include outdoor seating, indoor seating of booths , and indoor seating of chairs. The ambiance is very chill and with the mariachis (Friday) and likely the weekend, it is very fun and lively! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are respectable. With food prices rising and restaurants taking advantage of it, it's currently a great deal (10/11/24). I ordered the fajitas Texanas which are fajitas consisting of steak, chicken, and shrimp. The fajitas include seasonings of onions, tomatoes, and sliced bell peppers. My meal is also served with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, and tortillas . The other meals ordered were the burrito de pony which is a Patron Special (filled with grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, bacon, Mexican white rice, and black beans. It's topped with chipotle sauce, guacamole, and pico de gallo) and the patron quesadilla (includes grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. It's served with lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.) Our dessert was the churros which includes deep-fried pastry, apple coated cinnamon sugar and chocolate, and a serving of a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Alright, this part might sound weird but the bathrooms are very clean and look very clean. Some times, there is a correlation between cleanliness in areas that are not often used and the restaurant. We don't know how the kitchen area is and how clean it is but it's ALWAYS a good sign when the bathrooms are very clean and taken care of. I feel if they care that much about the bathrooms, then even the more important things will be cleaner and taken care (i.e. kitchen area). I will absolutely continue to come back, especially since this place is 3X better than the previous one regarding the size and ambiance.

The new location is very nice. Much larger. The food is the same, tasty. The staff were attentive…read more.

Great parking, and the atmosphere was typical for this type of economy meal. The restaurant had was notably neat and clean. On the whole, better than average food - hot and fresh. A bit bland; more seasoning would have been a plus. The chips were fresh, the salsa was thick and mildly hot. Our food came quickly, though we did not get everything we ordered, which was quickly resolved. Service was a bit on the slow side, which is the main reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Due to…read morethe icy snow, parking was limited in front and on the side of the corner lot but manageable. There's also additional parking on the strip mall side in front of Home Depot. As you walked in, there's a gorgeous bar on the right side and dining area throughout the restaurant. The menu has a big and variety of selections, I ordered 6 items: 1) Shrimp Empanadas 2) Lengua Taco 3) Chicken Taco 4) Pork and Chorizo Taco 5) Quesadilla Fajita 6) Xango. At each table, you are served with complimentary chips, salsa and a white sweet sauce. You can tell the chips were fresh, the salsa was a little thick with a hint of heat, just the way I like it. The white sauce, a little too sweet for me but if you combine them together.. perfect. When the quesadilla fajita arrive to the table, it was perfectly pan seared, the first bite was amazing. The chicken was very tender and it was accompanied by shredded lettuce, sour cream, cilantro and diced tomatoes. I wasn't expecting the size of those shrimp empanadas to be that big but okay, let's do this. They were nice and crispy on the outer layer but unfortunately the stuffing was supposed to be shrimp but I didn't taste anything because it was bland. It was served with white queso but even adding the queso, there wasn't much difference in flavor. When I order their tacos which you can also mix match so I ordered 3 different proteins 1) chicken 2) lengua (beef tongue) and 3 pork and chorizo with pineapple. When the dish arrived to the table, I was disappointed of how it was represented. All three tacos were stacked on top of each other as the proteins were falling out, the plate was too small and served with a ramekin of hot salsa and a mixture of diced onions, cilantro, lime wedge in another ramekin. The lengua and chicken were both so so tender like melt in your mouth. Wow!! Unfortunately the pork and chorizo with pineapple was unique but I wasn't able to pick it up like you normally would on a taco. Since it was on the very bottom, the flour tortilla got very mushy and I had no choice then to use a fork and knife. The flavor was different and it was okay. For dessert, I try their Xango which is a flour tortilla stuffed with a banana flavored cheesecake, coated with sugar and cinnamon, served with vanilla ice cream, and topped with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and sprinkles. With all the components, this dessert was bland. There wasn't any hint of banana flavored in that cheesecake filling, and the only thing was good was the ice cream with chocolate drizzle. The restaurant was clean and had some decor throughout the dining area. My server Katherin was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Though a few dishes weren't up to par, I would still make another visit to try other items on their menu.
